If you are a complete casual and open about it, I donโ€™t care. But most people who switch allegiance go all out on the bandwagon, and thatโ€™s just cringe
Normally, you are supposed to stay with your club. Especially if it has been passed down to you in a way

There's only 2 situations
1) If the team moves from or moves to the city where you live. But you can't move to a city and start glazing the local team.
2) if your son plays for that team

no idea bout gridiron but in assoc football:
there's very few situations on which switching teams is okay, and usually they are so bad that it should be your obligation to switch or you are just forced to do it
these include
>if you became a fan of the club due to locality: the team moves to another town/city, doesn't applies if it's a move within the same city/town, applies even if you moved out later in life (and no, you can't switch to another team if you move out of your original team's location)
>the club goes under and there's no signs of it or a replacement coming back (extremely rare for this to happen in the modern era, generally there's always enough fans to fund a phoenix club)
>the club undergoes full rebranding (e.g. redbull teams), at that point it's not your club anymore, it's the club of whichever suit strong-armed the change and you are a cuck if you keep supporting it, generally the best move in this situation is to a phoenix club that is trying to keep the original spirit alive if one pops up but switching to your former rival club is actually a good move as well
reasons you are NOT allowed to switch teams for
>your club relegates
>you don't like the club's current management or players
>the club becomes amateur and/or unaffiliated with your local FA (this is probably the most rough situation, some mild doble camisaje could be justified but not abandonment)

I did when I was a kid
I chose the original because of my dad, but he doesn't really like watching sports

He was like:
>oh cool they won, sure they gonna gift me something for supporting them (sarcastically obviously)
>*talk shit about the players all the time, even when they won* (if you listened to him, there hasen't been a single good player in all their history. to him they are only good after they left
>this current player is shit, why can't they buy good players like they did before (he shit talked the old players in their time)
>the only time they have a good player they sell it immediatly (he never talked good things about said player while he with his team)
>nah I'm not gonna watch the game, I don't earn money watching games
>*diminshed their wins* oh they beat Puebla? I'm sure they all think they all think they are all unbeatable because of that, damn this league is too small for them, only a team like Barcelona is worthy to play with them now lmao

Stuff like that, he also says all the time that if they lose the next game he won't support them anymore, so while I picked the team by my dad's influence, I also was picked some things by his influence fanwise like

After a small bad streak I said that if my lost the next game I wouldn't take it anymore and wouldn't be a fan. It wasn't an important game or anything. They lost, I took seriously what I said and I stopped

I spent a few years without a team until by chance I started watching another team's game. I liked them since then I've been supporting for 20 years now.
