In your case it's the shade as well, for me. The BLUE blue that Les Bleus used to wear was much better than this modern, near black colour. Applies to the rugby too.

Lower-Class color coding overall.
When it comes to shit like shorts the only people really buying the stuff are lower social classes who got money and that group also seems to have a thing where they match every part of a hat and shoes from top to bottom.

2014 World Cup was the worst example of this by far, I'm glad FIFA became a bit less strict after that disaster, though it's still bad nowadays and needs to go back to how it was in the 2000's an 1990's if possible. I hate when Brazil uses white shorts instead of the traditional blue ones for no good reason, or at home where we should always wear home kits without issue.
