you are falling into the zoomer curse. players should only be compared to their contemporaries. doesn't matter if you were playing against goat farmers in 1920 if you were 500x better than your competition you're still a great player worth remembering

because a random 13 year old in 2025 doesnt exist in 1920. if all the players were plumbers and milkmen, as you said, and one player is out of the world better than the other plumbers and milkmen despite being a plumber and or milkman himself, that's worth cherishing. the history of sport is important. football wasn't invented in 1992, but based off your posts you probably don't even think the 90s guys are worth remembering since modern players would also wipe the floor with them

EA FC announce Icon card for Ping Pong Xheng - the peasant rice farmer in rural china that famously kicked the goats head into the rival villages rice paddy in the last minute of the Emperors cup of 1024 AD while undertaking heavy archery fire
Unstoppable on his day but his top level career was sadly cut short after he was defenestrated and made a eunuch by the local governor. His pressing and work rate were never the same after the loss of testosterone caused by losing his balls

If the Ornstein piece on Isak refusing to play again is true - and despite the mood music on here I think that's a big if, this smells like media bollocks to me - then one angle I haven't seen discussed yet is the sheer disrespect and lack of empathy this shows to the likes of Sandro.

Isak already knows the frustrations of not playing because you're injured, but Sandro had to sit on the sidelines for 8 months, fully fit, desperate to help the team out and knowing that he couldn't. He stayed professional, he got on with his job, took a wage cut in the interim, and came back as one of our best players.

Isak, and everybody else in the group, trained with him every day. They'll have seen first hand how frustrating that was for him, self inflicted or not. Yet Isak's apparently willing to voluntarily put himself in the exact same situation and fuck the team over, despite us actively trying to secure replacements in Ekitike and Sesko?

It's beyond selfish. It's beyond disrespectful. It's a total lack of professionalism, empathy, integrity, emotional maturity, I could go on.

I cannot see how Eddie can include him in a match day squad again unless and until he makes a public apology made for his conduct. And the chances of that happening look to be near nil

Honestly I actually hate him now the snidey little rat, his skinny head and smarmy voice knew what he was doing when we where celebrating the cup win, you could tell in his demonour his head wasn't with us.

He's betrayed the team that took a chance on him when Nobody else would, hes betrayed the lads he went into battle with but most damnning of all is he's betrayed Eddie howe who made him a better player.

There's no way back for him from this, but I wouldn't let him go to Liverpool at any cost. why reward a little snidey little rat like this with a move and a bumper wage increase? Nah mate ya gonna rot on the bench and if ya don't like it it's tough. It really is marra.

> genuinely don’t understand why parts of our fanbase are losing their minds over the Isak situation. The only reason the club isn’t going nuclear right now is because there’s still the faintest possibility he could be reintegrated into the squad.
>People keep asking, “Can we really let Isak depreciate for three years?” Are you serious? Saudi Arabia literally built an entire league for the purpose of selling players. Now that Liverpool have already bid £110M, Newcastle could easily get a free pass on a related-party deal — take £130M from a Saudi club, push the transfer through, or, if it comes to it, make him train with the U18s for the next three years.
>Sure, he doesn’t have to accept the move, but his agent could just as easily find a matching offer from another club. We’ve already set precedents with Ryan Fraser and Vlachodimos. And let’s be honest — Isak’s on £120k a week, so maybe this sends a message to the rest of the squad: think twice before throwing your toys out of the pram.
>Liverpool fans will cry, “How can you do that?!” But in reality, our ownership could absolutely make that move if they wanted to — and we are re the only club in the entire world who can pull a shit like this. Maybe we should do it if this saga keeps on dragging!

>Multi-club structures hide behind the charade of a “blind trust” while clubs such as ours, who have no connection to another club whatsoever, are prevented from playing in the same competition.

>To compound the injustice, clubs that appear to have huge informal arrangements with each other are also allowed to participate and even possibly play against each other.

It’s like me starting a shop but Sainsbury’s, Asda and Tesco deciding that only they can pay managers, staff and contractors a certain amount. >Since being sacked by PGMOL, Coote, 43, has since been seen working as a delivery driver. But he has been given a route back into football after the FA said he would be free to officiate again after serving their own eight-week ban, which started in July, and completing an education programme.

>“DC [David Coote] must undergo and complete a mandatory face-to-face education programme, the details of which will be provided to him by The FA,” The FA explained, in an document relating to their decision to ban him.

>“If he fails to satisfactorily complete the programme in [a four-month] period, he will be immediately suspended from all football and football related activity until such time as the mandatory programme is so completed.”

I grew up in the era where Luis Nani was seen as “mid,” and now I’m expected to rate Sancho, Antony, and Garnacho?

Nani was a hard-working, useful player who still got hammered for “inconsistency” (and yeah, sometimes he was). Nobody cared about his confidence, whether he needed an overlapping full-back, or if he was better as an inside forward.

In 2010/11, he put up 28 G/A in 33 PL games as a midfielder and still got slated as the most inconsistent player in the squad.

Now, players with worse numbers get a laundry list of excuses. Standards have fallen, but it’s no shock — most United fans online have never even seen us win the league.
