The NBA manufactures outcomes to encourage idolatry because they stumbled across the magic formula with Jordan and now they just run in circles and try to repeat it. And for the most part it works on their retarded fanbase because a majority of basketball fans are lowest common denominator consoomers who desperately want to be told whose shoe to buy, which bandwagon to jump on, what arbitrary statistical feat they're supposed to be blown away by next (did you guys know random player X was the first guy to average exactly 11/3/1 on exactly 44.4% shooting in his first 12 road games? We're witnessing history, bros) and so on. .
And these people don't need to be active "fans" in the sense that they, you know, watch the fucking games. They just have a general awareness of what's happening. They know the Warriors won and Steph Curry did...something, so Warriors fans they become. And that's how the league likes it. They'd rather sell a fake sport to posers than allow things to happen organically and wind up with the equivalent of Detroit kicking the shit out of Jordan again. Which unfortunately means a lot of starfucking, questionable outcomes, statistically anomalous lottery results, etc.
They sacrificed the actual sport for the sake of branding. But if the shoes keep selling at a 1000% markup who fucking cares about whether or not the game is watchable, I guess? Streamers will pay out the ass to air games no one cares about and the "fans" will just discuss how Shai's gonna average 30 again while shooting 15 free throws a game.
