These measurements are probably unreliable
I don't want to dickride Ronaldo too much, but Pelรฉ jumping 16cm higher than him on a probably clearly inferior pitch with heavier and shittier shoes (not to mention inferior training and nutrition) is a bit hard to believe, regardless of how special or not Ronaldo's jump is compared to other modern players
That doesn't change that Pelรฉ was a freak player back then and would probably be absolutely elite in today's game if he were to receive modern training and gear and so on

But of course, another factor is the jump itself. Was there a run-up? If yes, how much? That can make a huge difference. It's similar to how many people glaze over speed measurements when they usually depend on how a player is utilized, how much open space he gets and how far he can run in a straight line without the ball for ideal conditions. And when in the game, at what exhaustion level, it happens. It's impossible to compare all these sprint situations, but people like to do it anyway. And even if it were comparable and the measurements 100% accurate, you'd still be left with the factor of acceleration. Someone having a higher top speed isn't necessarily the winner of a sprint duel

in those days you were allowed a little fellow who would put a trampoline in front of you
they were called 'trampoline coons', its one of those things like elevator operators where they have a strong trade union that keeps it going in a few select places

Try and find pitchside footage of Pele winning a header. His jump is the maddest thing about him and its weird how that was the thing that was kind of swept under the carpet.

It because you faggots have forgotten the only footballer in history to win the World Cup three times

>It was easier

So why weren't other players doing it like him back then? Surely a shitter from buttfuckmingham back in 1911 would be scoring trivela screamers after doing multiple dribbles if things used to be so much easier
