this is why I'm against paris fc in ligue 1, marseille rats are able to bully fellow parisians.
What is life like outside of Paris?
Does anybody take non-Parisians seriously?
What is the second city, in terms of influence and culture?

He scored 11 goals last season, proving he can perform good in Ligue 1.
With the World Cup coming next year, staying in the second division will get him left out of the national team.

I imagine most OM fans will grow to hate PFC.
PFC's ultras/supporters clubs have a few different factions despite being quite small in size of fanbase. Old Clan are the ones who say they respect OM there and they're >lifelong PFC fans. They're basically apolitical. Then you have the guys who got kicked out of PSG Kop of Boulogne who will obviously be first to hate OM and vice versa. And lastly you have guys like LΓ©gion X who make Kop of Boulogne look like Sandrine Rousseau. Pure neo-nazi subcultures of East Paris who go to PFC for the fights (including vs OL for example despite latter being right wing)
Because Old Clan are the dominant group they've managed to make its strict apolitical policy effective but the fact remains that all the virgins on here and JV.com who will want to exit the basement one day will pick PFC as a team thinking it's the anti-Red Star and inevitably anti-OM sentiment will grow too. I already doubt that OM fans will be allowed at Jean Bouin, no matter what bullshit about circle jerking over PSG is propagated in the media. But PFC will always hate Red Star and Creteil above any other clubs.

Who are a fun French team to support? I used to support Marseille because of Cantona but I no longer feel anything towards them.
Looking for a team with:
>good/fun fans
>preferably left wing/working class
>plays good attacking football
>nice kit/colours
I don't really care about trophies.
Also would be grateful if I could get a qrd on:
>Stade Reims
>ASSE
>RC Lens
>Montpellier
>OL
>Stade Rennes
>Red Star
Merci beaucoup france bros.

Based on your criteria Nantes are probably the best bet. They used to play attacking football but maybe now they're a bit more of a classic Ligue 1 counter side. Also they are not a pure industrial working class city like Lens or ASSE but they're still pretty normal and their fans have left tendencies without being an OM or Red Star type obsessed with it.
>Stade Reims
Bit of a relic/classic club that has a nice stadium but shit support. No real rivals either (Sedan but they are lower league)
>ASSE
Based in a coal mining shithole, but used to have huge pedigree and loads of fans particularly in the South and had overall good support until their ultras got banned by the Ministry of Interior. Have arguably biggest rivalry in France with Lyon.
>RC Lens
Similar to ASSE only less successful, but better overall atmosphere and really working class with no glory hunters. Also they are inbreds. Big rivalry with Lille
>Montpellier
Kind of a small club given the size of the city because rugby dominates, but they won a Ligue 1 with Jiroo and co recently with a fun owner and they have good fans relative to their size. Complete basket case of a club now though
>OL
Went from being mid tier to God tier on the field in the 2000s winning something like 7 consecutive title and beating Real Madrid. Kinda known for their right wing fans and glory hunters from that time, but are now a basket case of a club with Textor pulling the strings.
>Stade Rennes
Owner pumps loads of money in the club and has a yoyo record of either qualifying for CL almost or being ridiculously bad for their budget. They play the Breton national anthem before every home game but are hated by every other Breton side (including Nantes which isnt even Bretagne lol).
>Red Star
Formerly working class Parisian club, overtly antifa a bit like FCSP that is now overtaken in the stands by your standard Parisian bourgeois bohemian ("bobo") and was under the ownership of an American investment fund

i honestly stand by the fact the reason our league is plummeting is because clubs aren't owning their stadiums. If half of the league had their own home and made 100% of their stadium revenues, they would be in a much better position. kinda mental that right now, only Lyon and Auxerre own their stadium. Clubs like Strasbourg, Nice, Nantes or Rennes that are eternal middle of the road ligue 1 clubs should all own their stadium at 100%. And let's not talk about the two Parisian clubs, OM or Monaco. It's sad.

I said Lyon own their stadium.
But with a stadium you can do more that getting revenues off games. Museums or stadium related activities, concerts, meetings, hosting events... There's many ways that money who come from tickets can get into clubs pocket to stay rich. The model of a city hall owning a stadium and then renting the stadium to clubs is not working in the fucking age of dominating oil clubs, multi-ownership and whatnot.
PSG getting purchased by Qatar while they were still renting the Parc is a miracle by itself, because when you're an investor, you're looking for to own a product with many positive assets on the long run, and renting is a liability, even for selling the club. Only reason PSG got their ass saved, and few year by now Paris FC, is because they are in a huge European market city, even worldwide market city and it gives an insane soft power for a foreign country to invest in Paris. But your Lens, Rennes, Angers, or Lorients, who only attract local to regional at best market, they're inevitably doomed at some point to get fucked over by the DNCG because their renting model sucks and isn't viable in today's football. Which is why I say Lyon and Auxerre are the only serious French clubs.

It's a factor, but Serie A has similar issues with local councils owning stadia and they have a much more competitive league, that is more internationally followed and that has a better overall European record despite P$G. The fact is the owners there as well as the TV stations etc all knew how to put on a show and Ligue 1 and it's owners, despite sometimes being as mental as Serie A ones, don't know how to sell the football as entertainment. It was a 1 horse race for much of the 2000s then a quasi 1 horse race from Qatar onwards. It also has to compete with rugby for eyeballs and match going experience in the South, and let's be honest attending rugby in the South is a much more pleasant experience than for example a Nice game

It's because Milan AC, Juve and Inter had time to corrupt their way into many European titles, which organically gave them many international following. France never had that, because they "played the game honestly" until Tapie tried to burst that bubble in the 90s.
But other than that, look how how Italian clubs, let alone the NT is doing these days. Only eplel and laliga are doing well, and Germany, well it's the Bayern league.

You're right continental European football is fucked because of the dominance of the EPL. La Liga does well in Europe mostly because their players dope and Spanish anti-doping is a genuine joke. Other than that though look at their transfer windows and viewing figures outside the big 3, most Spanish sides are poor relative to some Championship sides in England. As for Germany 50+1 rule handicaps most of their first league as it's filled with company teams and village clubs.
It makes you realize why Perez, Agnelli and others tried to set up the SuperLeague...they think the solution is to create a rival to the Premier league. But the real problem of people switching off football is not their mega rich clubs, on the contrary, it's the fact that they've juiced their players so hard to play such mechanical football (thanks again, Guardiola) that inevitably the top teams with the top staff and players dominate. And there isn't nearly enough attention given to mid tier regional clubs with big fanbase potential.
