Reminder that if you started supporting a team because you liked playing them on FIFA you are a fake supporter.

Same goes for if it's because they had a player you liked, or some other arbitrary reason. You are a customer, not a supporter.

Not really. If you've lived near a team or have grown up watching their games you have a connection to the team that customers do not have.

And why did you grow up watching their games? Because your father did and you copied him? How is that not arbitrary? I am saying this as a person who has never supported a team that my own dad did not support first. You call them 'customers' but the real fans are the bread and butter supporters who make all the money for the clubs

I haven't written down a rulebook but to me it's just common sense. I don't know why the father in this example would have started supporting the team, but if you grew up watching them on location, then surely you have a natural connection to the club. The father may have picked it arbitrarily but you surely did not.

To be completely honest, I think that this phenomenon you are talking about mainly happens in countries with shit local sports. Lots of my classmates growing up were obsessed with premier league teams because local PSL Footy is a massive joke.

The worst kind of fans are the glory seekers who live in a city with at least one relatively big local club but still choose to support Man United or Liverpool
