We have yet to see Jokic play against a truly elite team and I dont think he'd be anywhere near as effective against one. His (and Luka) effectiveness comes from his passing and exploiting bad defenses,especially in transition,and against the 3 best defensive teams he's faced (bubble Lakers, 2024 wolves, 2025 Thunder) he's pretty much been neutralized as a playmaker, and he isnt the caliber of shot maker or pure scorer to punish opposing teams for doing that (though to be fair, even MJ and KD couldn't do 90% of the time). A situation like 2023 where only faced bad teams is probably the only situation he could've ever won a ring in with his current playstyle; any other year it would look like Luka vs the Celtics. It all comes back to the same point though. Jokic had one of the easiest paths to a championship in league history, where the opponent average winning percentage was 0.53 and he faced 3 play in teams, multiple of which like the Heat and Wolves were missing key players like Naz Reid, Jaden McDaniels, and Tyler Heero. If we're going to overrated and underrated specific runs like Dirks or 2016 LeBrons because of the competition, then we should absolutely do the same for Jokic's when stacking him up against the all time greats. You can't pretend the 50 win benchmark doesn't matter when the single 50 team he beat took him to 7 and was an Aaron Gordon buzzer beater away from taking the Nuggets out in 5 or 6.

The point im making is that Jokic hasn't truly done anything to warrant being called an all time great, outside of putting up video game numbers in the regular season from his team running almost every action in the game through him and giving him a league leading 100 touches a game, something we've seen fail time and time again through other players like the ball hog Kobe years, Rockets Harden, and even Luka in 2024.
