You could argue some of those players are just as good or even slightly better than Messi at finishing, passing etc. but not one of them could do it as consistently as he does. So can you really say they're better if they could only showcase that level once every 2 or 3 games and for only a period of say 5 years? Compared to Messi who did it every single game for 15 years.

Messi didn't become a great passer until ~2015, and not an elite passer until 2019. He didn't become a great FK taker until 2015+. By then, he'd lost his accelaration and stamina. Messi never had all his elite traits at once, he'd been gradually substituting parts of his game as he aged.
