I'm honestly surprised it doesn't happen. Obviously it would never be common because anyone who did it would be banned from the league for life and likely face criminal prosecution, but you'd have to think that, in the heat of the moment, someone would slug a ref every so often.

Roberto Alomar spit in an umpires face and got 5 games. I could see a season, but doubt they'd do lifetime unless it involved a bat to the head or something. I'd argue that spitting is 10X more disrespectful than an asswhipping.

not a chad at all. i just dont have any other hobbies in my life so this is what i do. not even good enough to play any sports so i gotta referee them. i will admit i defend referees way more than regular people do though.
