Man City
>1000s of empty seats for first home game of season against another Big Six club

Are they the most astroturfed club on the planet? No authentic fanbase or culture, just Arab money

I respect it. With how fast pop culture moves nowadays, as an influencer you only have about a week to make as much money as you can before you inevitably have to go back to work. Anyone who can scam a bunch of morons to buy Hawk Tuah coin earns my respect.

In the Saudi league you will see stadiums with 40,000 capacity with maybe a couple hundred fans average attendance. Same thing with City, the owners don't give a shit.

It's about the global brand and as long as people in India, China, and America are watching and buying shirts they're doing well on paper.

I've got a great workaround for the 'no drinking in the stands' problem. All you need is a hypodermic needle, some apples and bottle of vodka. I think you can figure out what you need to do.

this just flooded me with a memory - I went to a game in Maidstone in 2014 when they were in the 7th tier and had several beers and carried them right up to the pitch, then when I went again 4 or 5 years later and they were in the 5th tier, I got a beer and was prevented from leaving the concessions area with it and was totally puzzled

Man City historically was a working man's club. Now that they outpriced most of their real fans, the Khaleejis that run that team are feeling the effects of an entire generation that views the team as plastic and SOVLless

City genuinely were more 'authentic' than Utd, also more local. They were under 40,000 average around 2008 when they got taken over. Thats crept up to near capacity now, 53k and they want to expand the stadium to 60+, so they need to find those from somewhere. Basically they added 10k+ customers and are now looking to add another 10k+. And obv. these aint all gonna be lifelong diehards and some cringe marketing bs will be involved. But is their fanbase in general any worse, or less 'genuine' than Man Utds? idk.

City were a yoyo club from the late 70s early 80s until le oil. They were in the 3rd tier at one point. The troubles that spurs, united, Everton etc have had over he years arent anything comparable to how grim and irrelevant it was at City for appx 30 years. Ask the oasis fags if you don't believe me.
