The freshmen girls who are coming into the university by me this week were mostly born in 2007 this year.
I met a group celebrating one of their friend's 18th birthday last week at my job, they reassured me that all the online shit about Zoomers or whatever is pretty fake, 6 friends, mixed genders, rolling on some MDMA adjacent stims and a couple cheap drinks in. I couldn't help them because my job is a 21+ endeavor that really only appeals to a certain type of person, but they were great kids.
Still it's like, I was playing Oblivion on my X-Box and getting ready for college when you were born.
I was buying a fucking Lady Gaga album cause my girlfriend loved her when this kid was born. One of those weird Bikecab guys in Midtown was driving some girls my age through Chelsea blasting those singles the other night while I walked towards that Buzzy Burger Place in a Gas Station "Smacking Burger" on 8th and 14th.
But overall, fuck 16 years ago feels like a blink, like I wasn't even a virgin when he was born and shit territory from now on.
There's probably zero chance me and my friend and my roommate and anyone else makes it as a pop culture figure. (that being said you have guys ranging from Pefro Pascal to Charles Bronson who basically middled and survived until they became stars in their mid-40s, but I'm not in SAG at 35 and they both had a few middling roles in their 20s and early-30s.)
