Madrimov is also real tough, fought knockout artist Vergil Ortiz and although he lost he wasnt really hurt by him either, and Ortiz is undoubtedly a hard puncher.

It's pretty clear that he was gunshy against Madrimov because of his style rather than his power. I remember Madrimov caught him flush once or twice during the mid rounds and it basically had no effect on Crawford, he wasn't that wary of his power, like the Ortiz/Madrimov fight the problems come more from how tricky Madrimov is to catch clean. Bud realised late on that while he was extremely hard to hit in the face cleanly with anything other than his jab, his body was open, and he capitalised on that hard in the last rounds. Ortiz clearly studied that film and was able to figure that out before the fight happened and was targeting madrimovs body even earlier.
I've said this multiple times, but Canelo and Madrimovs style of fighting could not be more different, Madrimov is constantly moving and feinting and his footspeed is far faster than Canelos (especially this older version of Canelo).

Because anyone with half a brain cell realizes this fight makes zero sense. Crawford and Canelo were never even rivals. Its like Turdki took a few darts and through them blindfolded and they landed on a picture of Canelo and Crawford. He doesnt understand the market, doesnt know how to a market a fight. The heavyweight fights were straightforward. Fury vs Usyk, easy, years of smack talk between the two as well and it was the natural progression for Usyk to aim for Fury’s belt after destroying Joshua.

With Bivol and Beterbiev, another easy fight to make that fans actually WANTED to see. This is the key. There was a demand for that fight even though neither guy is a huge name to casuals. Fireworks went off because they’re like yin and yang, perfect rivals and opposing styles while both being extremely talented.

Crawford and Canelo it’s just…none of it makes sense. If he wanted to force a fight, he should have made Benavidez an offer he couldnt refuse, but apparently Canelo REALLY doesnt want to fight Benavidez, so Turki would have to pay him double or triple because Canelo realizes the threat. Canelo only takes on low risk opponents like Bumlanga, Ryder, etc these days. Never plays it too risky and justs coasts to a decision after scoring an early knockdown. Canelo is taking this fight because he doesnt see Crawford as a real threat, and really why should he? Crawford spent most of his career at 140, moved up to 147 and spent the rest there, had ONE fight at 154 where he clearly struggled more than he has in a long time, and is now skipping 160 altogether and going straight to 168, Canelo’s most comfortable class.
