There was something about Real winning it all those times that removed it's lustre. They were a good team but doing three in a row definitely devalued it. Quite a few non-event finals in recent years as well.

It’s kind of funny. Bayern won the CL in 2013 and 2020. Chelsea won in 2012 and 2021. Twice each. And yet Chelsea won both out of nowhere basically, while Bayern needed a lot of run-up and always narrowly failed. No one in their right mind would say Bayern and Chelsea were equal in that period, but they have two CLs each from that period and that’s what people will look at in a few years
