Fencing and all the variations has been a staple, even though we are a bit on the decline right now. Volleyball we had good to great teams since the 90s, the women just won the gold medal and also won at the Olympics. Tennis we have some good players on both sides, even ignoring Sinner. Alpine skiing we always have one or two good skier, although rarely the strongest one

The Italian bocce tourney is sometimes aired and is unironically kino, they have multiple different competitions besides the normal match and they're fucking great. My favourite one is where they have to knock off the pallino, but it's 5 minutes where they sprint over the track to the other side to grab the ball then do the shot so it's both precision intensive AND you need stamina to keep up. You also have to decide to pace yourself to sprint faster for more shots at the risk of gassing out and have terrible aim or go slower and try to go for a more consistent scoring
