I believe this was an international football game between Japan and China which Japan won 7-0 and there's a picture of Japan international and ex Liverpool player Minamino looking happy, presumably it was from that game

They should just switch to baseball like all the other advanced Asian places. You'd think they'd jump at the opportunity to put one over Taiwan in something the island actually cares about. Hell, they already had and didn't capitalize on it.

interesting thing is japanese football was in a really bad way in the 80s, it was essentially semi-professional
china should just copy what they did

2002 World Cup did his job in Nippon and Second Best Korea, too bad Fifa forgot that's the purpose of hosting the World Cup and are doing it in retarded countries like Qatar (not even a real country) and soon Saudi Arabia.

Japanese players play in Europe. It's that simple. Chinese superleague players gotta play better to be scouted by /bundes/, /epl/ and others.
Anonymous United Kingdom No.150726897 [Report] >>150726934
>>150726870
That's a circular argument. Jap and Korean players were scouted to play in Europe because they are a high standard already. Japan and Korea were competitive international teams long before they had PL players

Japan is irrelevant even in Asian up untill the turn of the century. They didn't care about soccer at all and only played baseball

Their development in the sport mostly came with spending during the 90s leading up to hosting the 2002 world cup. The 98 world cup was actually the first one they ever qualified for
Anonymous Germany No.150726934 [Report] >>150726963
>>150726897
There is nothing circular about it, they had to up their game at some point too, just like Chinese have to now.

We don't give Chinese players the time of day, I am sure.
Anonymous United Kingdom No.150726963 [Report] >>150726981
>>150726934
>they are good enough because they were already good enough
It is circular. Genetically they're more or less the same. China's pumped a lot of money into football but the gap seems to be widening, what's the difference? It's one of the last markets left to conquer
Anonymous Germany No.150726981 [Report] >>150738811

Never said that.
The Japanese got better by applying themselves, no money in the world makes you get more competent or skillful. It's just a question of getting gud.

in 1999, the J League had a big restructuring to promote football at a grassroot level on local communities, with a 100-year plan to have 100 professional teams in its league and eventually win a World Cup
in other words, a long-term plan to let football grow naturally in the country

Chink, even when you think of them as bugmen, are too individualist and don't do well in team sports unless under draconian laws, Japs are more souleful and so can merch with each other winning via the power of friendship.

But then Brazil are very individualist and they're 5x WCs. China last qualified the year Brazil last won. There's going to be minnows like Uzbekistan or whatever that are more likely to qualify

China's attempt at being a football superpower actually hurt their economy in the 2010s
Xi Jinping gave up
then COVID wrecked their shit further, effectively killing off Guangzhou Evergrande
There was also some corruption going on in the chinese FA, bribing or some shit. What's left of the chinese national team now is complete dogshit. Their fans are mostly just defeated by now.

Baseball unifying Japan and Korea is pretty amusing. Gooks like Ohtani and the Japs are getting into the Gook players playing together with their own. I kneel to boreball.

the chink team is full of kids of ccp officials, i saw some article where last time chink team played and lost, netizens were pissed off watching the team at the airport leaving with like 10 pieces of luggage each full of shopping, the team is made up of nepo babies and not actually made up of talented players

baseball seems to be be quite popular with young women in Japan and Korea. I think this has been the case in Japan for a while but it's new in Korea and is the primary driver of huge attendance increases in the past couple years.
