The Man U job will always come with intense pressure, especially given how toxic everything is around that club. So any manager they choose should be able to handle the media well. Ten Hag and Amorim might have impressed tactically with their previous clubs, but they have been poor at handling the English media and that just makes things harder for everyone at the club. Southgate would unironically be a good choice in this regard, he managed to take an England team that got humiliated by Iceland and built them up into a team that would consistently reach the latter stages of major tournaments. He's probably not the man that will win the league, but he will leave the club in a better shape for his eventual successor and give them a serious chance of taking that final step.

Fair enough, looking back I suppose there used to be a certain plebbit flavour to the obvious phone posts. As much as anything, I think United need a manager who can address the psychological condition of the club as much as the tactics.
