But blaming tourists for the atmosphere when ST holders take up 2/3 of the stadium is nonsense. They are ultimately the ones who are responsible for creating the atmosphere (or failing to do so). If you actually ever attend a match, you'll notice plenty of these people just spending the entire match having a casual chat, barely pay attention to the match and then leave when there are 5 minutes left on the clock so they don't get caught in the post-match congestion. These aren't tourists, because a tourist not realise how awkward it is to get out of the stadium after a match if it's their first time. Of course it's not all ST holders, the subset of ST holders that make up our travelling away fanbase always put on a solid show every time. But there are quite clearly a large portion of ST holders who have no intention of contributing to the atmosphere of the stadium.

The club could maybe do some seating rearrangements to try and pool together louder fans in one sections so that chants are easier to start (rather than having them all separated across the stadium randomly), but I imagine the current ST holders will be too stubborn to just accept being moved somewhere else. And at the end of the day, Arsenal has never had a rowdy atmosphere to begin with. It was called the Highbury Library for a reason. If you want a loud crowd, you're supporting the wrong club.

Can confirm. I used to go to some games with older fans (my dad's friends), Highbury era season ticket holders, and yeah, they couldn't give a fuck about getting into the seats before kick-off, leaving after the final whistle, or singing anything. It really shocked me. Even when I went to games alone many people around me were quiet. And the staff don't help either (perhaps compelled by rules and regulations). I remember a game I was in the top row, so decided I could watch the game standing up, except staff told me I had to sit down for health and safety reasons.
