I agree Hawks offer is overs for Merrett but I think Essendon just trying to get them to give up more before they gave. Don't think Hawks can. What they're offering is already more than Lions gave up for Neale, which is probably the most recent high-profile contracted mid trade. What Essendon would be getting for Merrett is more than the were willing to give up for Dunkley which cost them getting him at all in the end. Merrett lot older than both Neale and Dunkley were.

I think the Curnow trade is about right. Pick 11 is a strong pick, Swans' future 1 will help them lock up Walker and Hayward is underrated plus fills a need. Not a fan of Florent but could be worse. If I were Carlton I'd be negotiating for Swans' 32 coming across too but that might push the deal too far into Blues' favour.

Enter 2017 and absolutely nobody is giving Richmond a chance. Lo and behold, Richmond win the flag, and win two more in three years.

Similar thing happened with the Bulldogs. Disappointing year in 2014, the captain and best player Ryan Griffen leaves, Cooney leaves, Higgins leaves, Liam Jones leaves, the coach is sacked, half the assistants follow him out.
