On paper I think he's made some good moves. Chip Lindsay is a good coach. Martindale has NFL experience. The problems in the 2 losses this year have been about fundamentals and discipline. He doesn't seem to run a very tight ship. The culture at Michigan is quite a bit more "diverse" than it was under Harbs. On the defensive side especially there's a lot of stupidity. So I have kind of been watching more games last year and this year and 1.5 years in, just from an entertainment aspect the Big10 is fucking boring as shit. Watching games is such a chore. Hope you're correct but the people who brought in Freeze are nutbag true believers that need a way to save face because they don't want to accept blame for what they did to the program. The best way out for them would be for Freeze to resign for health reasons but no way he's going to walk away from a $15 million buyout.
There's a timing issue because with so many jobs opening, Auburn really can't wait until the end of the season to make a move. To do so risks everyone else snatching up all the talent, with only the rejects to pick from. Before the season the general view was that the powers that be would go after Rhett Lashlee if Freeze got fired but things seem to have shifted to Jon Sumrall. He's going to be much easier to get and what he did during his seasons at Troy is still fresh in the minds of people in the state. No doubt schools like VT are giving him an extended look.
