Man, I really wanted to like Millennium. First season was eh, second season was amazing with one of the best finales I've seen, third season chickened out and failed to capitalize on anything that was set up. And by the time they decided to wrap up some of the loose ends in the X-Files (which causes its own clusterfuck of continuity), it was at a point where no one was watching that show either.

Because once you had a winning streak, even across different gambling types, your name would be out there and you'd be on various radars. I've never seen X-Files, but I recently watched Kolchak: The Night Stalker and, as dated as it is, I absolutely loved the vibe and the characters. Lots of people say Columbo and X-Files are the closest to it, so I've been thinking of checking them out. Is it worth diving in, though? there are so many seasons

If you have any interest in conspiracy stuff and liked Kolchak, X-Files will become your favorite show of all time. There are different perspectives: some fans like the missing sister abductee story arc, other prefer the disconnected Monster of the Week episodes, but you should definitely watch the first season in order to understand the dynamics between Mulder and Scully and see the character development. After that, many lose interest in the story arc, and seek out the best viewing order lists on the internet, including the movies. Most of us agree that the show becomes less interesting after Duchovny leaves the show, and most of us all agree seasons 10 & 11 are best left unwatched, they kind of ruin your good memories. Seems that they've actually re-rendered some of the Video Toaster effects shots for the BD-release from original files, or some of the early ones were for some reason rendered in better than NTSC resolution originally and printed to film (I seem to remember they had problem with some NTSC color fuckery making the underwater shots unusable until they got some fancy component video disc recorder for output). Effects shots for later episodes are clearly upscaled, though.

Early Edition (1996) – 7/10. Downloaded, yet to watch the full series. Watched a couple of episodes on first run back in the day. Comfy viewing.
Earth 2 (1994) – 6/10. Cheesy. Notable for having Clancy Brown in his prime. Currently halfway through. Looked it up and found that the child actress sadly died young.
Odyssey 5 (2002) – 7/10. Just finished watching. Overall good, pity it was cancelled on a cliffhanger. Peter Weller (aka Robocop) is a standout. One of the lead women played Doctor Zimmerman’s holo-assistant in Voyager.
The Pretender (1996) – 7/10. Watched when I was a kid. Yet to rewatch the whole series (have downloaded).
Space: Above & Beyond (1995) – 10/10. Gutted when I found out this was cancelled back in the day. Great sci-fi, brilliant cast.
Burn Notice (2007) – 7/10. I term this “wallpaper TV” — something you can watch in the background on your dual screen while you do other stuff. Decent enough “cop-type” show.
Continuum (2012) – 5/10. Watched it on original run but gave up halfway. Just lost interest.
Eureka (2006) – 7/10. Comfy background viewing.
Haven (2010) – 6/10. Forgot about this series. I think I watched two seasons and just forgot to continue. Not sure why — maybe that’s a damning sign. Will download the full run and give it another shot.
Channel Zero (2016) – 5/10. Can’t remember much about this except I got bored.
Millennium (1996) – 6/10. Interesting but dragged.

American Gothic (1995) – 7/10. Watched back in the day and rewatched about two years ago. Okay, not great. Had potential but went nowhere.
Intruders (2014) – 7/10. Had potential. Liked the overall vibe, too short-lived.
The Outer Limits (1995) – 7/10. Watched original run. Will download and rewatch. Each episode is standalone, a bit hit and miss, but worth it overall.
The Twilight Zone (1985) – 7/10. Same as Outer Limits, but Twilight Zone was the original.
Threshold (2005) – 7/10. Good, outstanding cast.
Fringe (2008) – 10/10. Fantastic show. Similar to The X-Files but with more consistent quality. Great cast, great concept.
SeaQuest DSV (1993) – 5/10. Watched back in the day. First season okay, then it went downhill.
