There's been plenty of criticism of how lifeless and empty Extreme Peace looks/feels compared to World Peace (sterile tripod shots, empty and uninspired set design etc. - though I will say, episode 2 showed improvements), but the other BIG part of directing is also extracting the best performance out of your actors. I feel like Ruse understood Sam, Nick and Charls comedic strengths and directed their performances accordingly. Theyre also meant to have the "bigger picture" in mind, so having an understanding of how this will play in the edit etc. The right director makes all the difference. When alex said this, it basically confimred that he had no input in this regard, and sort of just left the aspect to the guys. Either he didnt want to speak up or didn't think he had to. This is a lot funnier than anything they've done on this topic in recent years.
I just compared watched ep3 before watching WP episode 1... I think ep3 fell pretty flat and ep2 was the best so far, but honestly even WP season 1 I don't find very good/funny.
The quality of skits/humor is about the same to me, and i feel like I've grown out of it. The difference is the format/production/direction everything else really. WP is just put together so much better and formatted way better for a show... You get way more skits crammed into a 12 minute episode then the same rerun skits over and over again for 33 minutes.. I don't find one funnier than the other though. They both hardly make me laugh. But yea WP is just way better put together and watchable, but not necessarily funnier.
