Is it even worth being on a private tracker nowadays? Jackett provides far more results for 99% of media, usually in much higher quality, and you don't have to jump through some retarded webmaster's hoops to use it. The speeds, while sometimes slower, aren't enough to ruin the experience. I genuinely can't think of a reason anyone would need private torrenting anymore.

private trackers just provide more 'premium' forms of media. For example, 'no virus' cracks of games or better quality movies. I don't really see a use case for the average user who just wants to torrent. It's mainly for virgins who are so paranoid about their ISP watching them. But at that point why not just use a seedbox or a debrid service, why even torrent on your network at all?

As someone who was really deep into the private tracker game for a while, no, it's not really worth it anymore. Most private trackers are completely useless, and the few that aren't are only for getting extremely niche shit slightly sooner before it ends up on usenet anyway.
Also drop jackett and use prowlarr

how do I use Jackett? Just downloaded out of curiosity and I'm in the website it hosts on my IP but I'm not entirely sure how to use this.

as someone who's been on private trackers for ages, yes. I'm already in the good trackers with loads of buffer. If you want the biggest library and the best transparent encodes it's worth it(8-20gb for a 1080p movie). If you think YTS looks fine and mostly want mainstream popular stuff it's probably not worth it. The path to the best trackers is harder now than it was, and probably won't ever get any easier either. It takes a certain level of 'tism for sure

for basic usage jackett can replace all the qbit search plugins and has a ton more sites. They can both be plugged into a whole automation stack and do other stuff too

No, don't do it, it's time to move away from *arr, they are all sucking with lazy devs. Also prowlarr is not as packed as jacket. I already did my private sonarr replacement in c++, it's way faster and handles metadata aggregation in abetter way, it also mitigates the need to have a sonarr for series and other for anime.

All the private trackers I'm on are for niche media like wrestling from the 80s that isn't WWF. Can't find that shit anywhere else so yes, very much worth it if you're into niche media.

Higher quality than a private tracker? I mean I don't know what trackers you're on but that seems doubtful if you're on the best ones. You can get hybrid Remux releases on some trackers that take the better audio from one release and sync it with the better video of another release. I guess it just depends on what you're after but if you're a film buff who watches more than just the latest stuff there is no replacing some of those sites.
