How am I supposed to play when I'm forced to go First as Chronojet?
I keep getting assblasted by this Kairi at locals who uses this card to assblast me with 6 attacks while my Vanguard is a no-effect vanilla.

I tried to play retro game like ride to victory and stride to victory. Gotta say the old vanguard was so miserable when you have like 20% chance of simply just dying because of worse than average hand. Add in the chance of getting fucked by trigger sack and the game feels miserable to play. Did people really prefer it over V format?

Issue with V was that even if the grade 1 and 2 game felt not as absurdly sensitive, the power diversity between grade 3 bosses was MASSIVE&the marker situation spiraled completely out of control.

But I loved the game before G, stopped playing around the 5th set of continuous Gear Support, only to came back close to the reboot, G-BT12 I think, to quit on the reboot announcement. But that's me, while I would play Vintage in a heartbeat before G with Kagero, (Crossride, Limit Break or Legion format), some of the locals players love G format through the end.
In comparison, we all fucking love playing V up to this day. I came back around VBT-05. My Vanguard locals DIED with Standard, with how boring it is. Whenever we feel like trying Vanguard again, or just thinking about the series, V is the choice.
While I'm at, the slight interest that I have on the game right now, barely following anything it's getting lower when I see Bushiroad is still retarded with promo cards and barely no reprints. I think the game is only alive because of nostalgia and people not wanting to let it go. Hell, that's me looking for a reason to play Overlord or Vermillion in a format no one even plays here.

I know its match-up dependent but in general it seems futile to throw attacks at them to grind down decks since it seems very easy to replace them.
There are some decks where I can see taking out a key piece is important but most of the time it seems you want to push face so you can actually attack the hand sooner.

Outside of that its just laughable to attack into an RG because decks have too much draw or consistency for it to really hurt and of course then theres the power where RG now take 2 triggers usually to stop RG attacks creating an utter waste of aggression. All of that is part of the reason Dragon Empire decks are doing well since Bushiroad only gives a shit about their bottom line and give stuff like Bavsarga and Vyrgillia the same if not higher amounts of power as decks like Rezael and Levidras who have no control and just become flat out better decks.

I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS GAME AT ALL

it feels like if I play defensively i dont pressure enough and and just lose out in long term
but if i preserve my lines of play it often feels like even wins are by the skins of my teeth at times with how much damage i take.
despite this it still feels like aggression is generally favored.
then again being a noob im sure there's decks that dont care about setting anything up at all intially and just sit around biding time.

Grabbed a couple starter decks and upgraded them with some cards from D-BT-01.
What I'm unsure if I'm doing right is I typically plan out what sort of board I want to build which typically asks for about 4 cards.
Despite what a friend (who got me into this game) told me it seems like its hard to hold onto a Persona drive or turn 4+ cards since I'm either throwing away triggers leaving myself vulnerable or on the other hand if I toss the offensive pieces it feels like I'm dampening any pressure I can give.
I've had more success leaning into aggression but it often feels like a close shave since if I didnt end the opponent on that turn I'd be at a real risk of dying the turn after that.
Also attacking rear guards seems almost pointless with how everything can act immediately. (there are exceptions where a rear guard is a clear lynchpinto the strat and should be offed)
I get the idea of limiting counter blast but seems that just lets the opponent build up defense unless you can pressure lethal at lower than five which not every deck does.
I guess what I'm saying is that its hard to tell if I'm playing right or if I'm just lucking out in my wins.
Do you have a locals scene near you? I've been thinking about finally giving it a go but I'm afraid of having to drive out two hours just to find a shop that even stocks the game or does tournaments.

This is just one example. This kind of shit happens every 2 months in some form. The community has burned more bridges with stores than I can count and ostracized at the very least 18 players (but, honestly, the real number is probably WAY higher). Some have sworn off Vanguard forever because of it.
The Vanguard community is basically infamous where I live. Stores don’t want to touch it with a ten-foot pole. We’re down to one store left, Store1, and even they don’t like us that much.

More recently Vangpro came out which is actively being worked on and it's semi automated, but it still requires quite a bit of input from you as the player.

My local card shop has a Cardfight Vanguard night each week but, give it to me straight, what's the likelihood anyone actually shows up to it? MTG is too gay and reddit with its constant crossover bullshit, Yu-Gi-Oh is way too tryhard and cancerous compared to when I was younger, and Pokemon lmao. I remember watching the first season of the Cardfight Vanguard anime like 10 years ago and thinking it was actually pretty interesting, but I'm not going to get invested in something totally dead.

In a match between two Stride Decks, the player that goes first can refuse to ride G3 to deny the opponent from Striding. Is this ever a valid strategy; what if the opponent does the same, will it just be a Grade 2 caveman game?
I really hate how Stride Decks have severe variance in power depending on the turn order. Maybe they could make some G-Units to complement going 1st but Stride isn't the focus of Standard so they probably won't.

It's really eye rolling seeing three or more 2 crit attacks hitting your face when Edelgema is already hitting seven attacks for the turn. And there's no way to stop this unless you don't give the opponent a single CB, which just gives them time to prep for an even bigger number of attacks. Thankfully people woke up and started playing it in major tournaments so Bushi finally hit it.
