Hopefully before end of thread I will have a new set to channel the challenge into

You probably want to change the ability to:
>Other Toy creatures (you control) have toxic 1

Otherwise you effectively have a toxic 3 drop 2

>>95748818
That might be too much value for a single card - it's a 2x1 at worst, 4x1 at best

See Assassin's Strike for reference - same cost, sorcery speed, no rebound.

Designed this to be a finisher, but it technically counts as removal too.

>>95753640
How long are you intending for the exiled cards to be able to be cast? Way it's written now, you'd have to do it right after casting that. If that's the intention, it's terrible, especially since you have to pay for them too, even if it's any mana. Should probably make it at least until the end of your next turn.

Also, minor thing, but it should say library, not deck. Otherwise, neat idea.

>>95770387
Well-connected Agent is a bit hard to grok on first read, and Travelling Con Man shouldn't be blue, but overall these all seem pretty well designed, and it's a sweet set idea.

In terms of border, I'd go with Innistrad, but that's just because I feel like the Japanese Archive design looks better only for special releases of cards, not for a full set. Go with what you like best though.

I think (Creatures with Brightness counters on them lose the Human creature type and can't have or gain the Human creature type.) works just fine.

>>95772596
>>95776837
For that, you want "Each player looks at the top three cards of their library, then puts one on top of their library and exiles the rest. You may cast those spells for as long as they remain exiled, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any colour to cast them."

In that case, it's probably a bit much for its current cost, especially in multiplayer formats. I'd change it to 2UU at minimum.

>Handmaiden
Absolutely love the idea, but I don't know if it could be mono-White as is, and certainly should be rare regardless.

>Kitana as mono black
Surprising, with her wind theme I'd have pinned her as having some white and/or blue.

Shao needs some serious rephrasing but the concept of a card that punishes you so severely for not losing life is interesting. I get the sense that these are meant to reflect an older era's creature power level, but even then with such a steep drawback I think you could get away with costing Shao very aggressively, like 2 CMC or even less. After all he has no built in way to cause you to lose life, which makes you very vulnerable if any piece of your engine is disrupted.

I do like the flavor of Shao very easily causing you to lose the game though. To my mind it's the consequence of failing him.

Yeah this is MK2 era Kitana, so she's still under Kahn's control and brainwashing.
I initially had Kahn at 4BBB instead, but felt like that made him too easy to get out with a Dark Ritual. Perhaps 3BBBB?

And yeah, I was out for a while, I'm still catching up with modern ideas of power creep and power level.

Kitana with regenerate is a deliberate flavor choice tho. I kind of want to make the cards feel a bit like mid-90s Magic.

Don't feel like going through the hassle of generating a card and looking for art and stuff, but what do you think of:

>Persistent Disobedience
>BB
>Enchantment - Aura
>Enchant target creature.
>At the beginning of it's controller's upkeep, enchanted creature phases out until the next end step.

Like a slightly nerfed Oubliette.
I think it could create some really interesting situations. It's not quite removal, the player still has it for blocking and instant speed abilities or triggers, but they're not getting the full value out of it.
Because an aura phases out with a creature, sorcery speed enchantment removal on the player's own turn won't help them.
It doesn't blink so no way to abuse ETBs
And I think in niche cases someone might even play it on their own creature if it has symmetrical effects, or good stats with a big downside that they can avoid with this

I did think about white, but because the closest existing card was black I stuck with that. I can see it being compared to any of the dozens of white cards that suppress abilities and attacks/blocks though

I like Picket Line but I do wonder if 0/6 is too big for 3CMC and a decent effect. I assume you're going for the idea that because it's a wall made of multiple people it should be bigger, but I think 0/4 would still be reasonable. White has a couple fogs to prevent battle damage if you're really worried that it having to block will get it run over
I can also imagine a world where the card is bant (mostly so we dip into blue, but green unity too, and avoid black sac engines) and maybe has a steal effect like:
>At the beginning of their upkeep, each opponent chooses a creature they control. While you control Picket Line, you control target creature, it cannot attack or block, and its activated abilities can't be activated.
>Picket Line gets +0/+1 for each creature you control but do not own.

There's definitely so much design space for phasing out as removal though. I have Oubliette in a hatebears deck in Commander and people just aren't prepared for it.

The topic of green removal comes up a lot these days, given that the color is effectively dead because it can't interact with anything and REALLY can't interact with uber-FIRE trash like Screaming Nemesis.

I've been fiddling with the concept for a while. Banisher-Priest like abilities with the flavor of eating things, etc. But I'm settling on pic related.

Green can already kill things with Flying. Stretching that out (a lot) you could find a world where Green can destroy things conditionally on whether they have abilities at all. Maybe it's pushing the color too far, but I feel that the savage wisdom of simplicity being able to dodge green's removal makes a lot of sense.

Every other color has largely unconditional, or at least barely conditional, 1cmc removal and basically universal 2cmc removal.

There's no reason real reason green specifically should be totally gimped in its ability to interact. 2cmc is THE standard for the price of interaction.

Also, in my endless search to find the right lands that will help slow down this particular format (As much as I hate named tokens) I've eventually leaned into this design.

It's only a very small drawback in theory, but I think the potential self-sabotage of giving an artifact to an opponent playing an artifact deck is also significant.

And typically this is worded "Whenever a player casts a spell or activates an ability..." unless you specifically want to include copied spells for some weird reason that will completely break the game. But also, Flagbearer is a white effect and worded differently.

The art reminds me of Cardcaptors and that makes me happy :)

But in all seriousness, fairly believable card. If they printed something like it I really wouldn't be surprised. There is one big problem though.
I get that you're basically trying to make all combat benefit you, but I think for balance reasons it should still only be your own creatures that gain lifelink. There's too many shenanigans you could do with goad or forcing blockers that would very quickly make your life higher than wizards has previously printed cards to do.

Also I think you should be less worried about what happens if there are two of these on the field and more worried about what happens if your opponent swings at your face. I think because it's a hard replace effect (i.e. instead) some bullshit happens with the way the effect interacts and you may just be immortal.
Not certain, but me and my friends ran into a similar question in a redacted cube. Something about it being a state based action instead of a trigger??? I have no fucking idea.

My first thought when making the card is "I want to make something that give other creatures keyword as a cycle," and started with White. Then I want to make the opponent's creatures one to be less beneficial or riskier to use. I'll post the others later when I get back to work.

I actually didn't think of how the effects make you immortal lol. But I realized that the card is a kill-on-sight card so I tried to make it has less stats and hard to cast.

Maybe I should just make it only buffs the other White (or other color) creatures, or separate the replacement effect to another card.

How about instead of you stealing lifelink you just have
>if you would gain life, gain twice that much life instead.
Itโ€™s obviously not as powerful, but youโ€™re still getting the bigger advantage
Or just
>Id an opponent would gain life they lose that much life instead.
That might actually be good because itโ€™ll end a game quicker

I would redo pretty much all of them to be honest.
I think you're very close to being in the design space Wizards would actually print, but I think they all need tweaking in ways that change what you intended.

>red
I think this is closest to printable.
It should probably just be reworded to:
>Whenever a creature attacks you, if that creature entered this turn...
You don't need "opponent controls" or "if you're the defending player" if "you" is in there. It's not possible for creatures you control to attack you.
I also think Spirit of Volderox should probably be the thing to deal the damage. Mechanically, creatures can do damage to their own controllers (see Rakdos Charm) but there's a big advantage to you controlling the source of the damage: you can multiply the damage with any number of pre-existing red cards, and get triggers from you dealing the damage.

>blue
I don't think defender is the best keyword for blue.
Archetype of Imagination is a very similar blue card that gives all your creatures flying and prevents creatures your opponents control from having flying.
If you want to stick to altering creatures on the field, I would maybe go with giving flying and an effect that says creatures your opponents control cannot block creatures you control with flying. It's flavorful in the sense that as the blue player, your creatures know how to use this magical flight they've been gifted but your opponents are clumsy and uncoordinated. It will also close out a game, making all your shit unblockable.
Otherwise, flash is extremely blue. Maybe give all cards in hand flash, but opponents casting spells on your turn draws you cards?

Part 1 of 2

Part 2 of 2

>black
I think this is fine except for the 2nd effect being so incredibly white. If it was orzhov I'd say it's perfect, perhaps even a little overcosted at 7, honestly. On a creature, I feel like an effect like the one you have could be 5 or 6 without it being broken, especially as a 5/1. Any ping of damage would take it out.
I think to make it more black you could stick Dictate of Erebos on there.
>Whenever a creature you control dies, each opponent sacrifices a creature.
Remember, in black you don't really care about your stuff dying, usually it's good for you. Black players are going to have so many triggers from things dying or from how many creatures they have in grave. I don't think protection is the right effect for black.
And again, for closing out games, this will end em real quick. Damned if they block, damned if they don't- exactly what black wants.

>green
Funnily enough I think this is a more black effect than the one you had on black. I also don't think it fits with the trample effect very well.
Personally, I think the simplest solution here is just to make it an Overrun effect. Either give all your creatures something like +5/+5, or +X/+X where X is the number of creatures you control.
That's more or less Craterhoof Behemoth's effect, and so I would understand if you think that's a little boring.
Green leans into token generation a lot, so maybe you could go with
>Whenever a creature you control does combat damage to another player, create X 3/3 beast creature tokens where X is equal to the damage dealt
It's a slightly slower effect, but it would stop you getting punished by an attack in response as you'd have a bunch of blockers to stack and prevent trample damage hitting you.

Thank you for your input. I'll try to explain my thought process.

>Red
Like I said before, I want to make opponents' creatures to be a riskier to use, that's why I want to make the other creatures that deals damage since higher power equals higher risk (but I guess I can use X as attacking creature's power instead, but make Spirit of Volderox as the dealer). And in Commander, this will make opponents creatures to avoid the controlling player and hit each other instead.

>Blue
That's definitely better. I just want to make use of Defender more lol. Otherwise, your flying effect is pretty much similar to what I thought before, something like "Super Flying" for own creatures.

>Black
Yeah the other effect feels a bit forced and quite difficult to think of. Dying trigger is definitely better.

>Green
My reference is pic related, but kinda reversed. But this is also the hardest for me to think of. I thought about some land synergies before, maybe I'll try to aim that.

The first thought is basically giving all other creatures keywords, but then I want to give some negative effects to the opponents'. Some of your suggestions are positive effects to the controlling player so your "keyword" is better, but I think I still want to come up with negative effects version (this might also limit my thought process so I didn't think of other ideas...)

There is an interesting design space if you wanted to play with defender.
More recently Wizards has printed keyword counters effects. Like Vraska Joins up in OTJ puts a deathtouch counter on every creature you control, Gift of the Viper puts a deathtouch and reach counter on target creature.

I think it would be really interesting to have a cycle of cards that put a keyword counter on everything.
The neat thing about it is it doesn't require anything to be active on the field for it to persist, and new creatures coming down won't be affected.

The reason I think of this is because you say you wanted to play with defender. I think putting defender on your opponents stuff is a very white effect rather than blue. I'm thinking of Dog Umbra, Guard Duty etc. And everything on the field having defender is going to slow a game right down.
But dishing out defender counters instead would be a way for you to distribute the effect to the whole board without locking the game down too long.

The problem is, tokens enter as a vehicle from Myriad, so even if they are turned into creatures through an enchantment or something, they will not enter attacking because the effect is applied after the token enters.

Few questions before I present it to my Pod.
>Will the first line this cause tokens made with Myraid to enter attacking?

It should work as intended.
>Does it seem balanced?
Looks extremely weak to me. To do *anything*, you need at least:
>Calypso (that isn't summoning sick)
>One untapped pilot
>Another pilot to sacrifice
>A third creature to crew your vehicle
>And a Vehicle
And even then, you're choosing not to attack with four creatures for the benefit of getting to attack with three.
You obviously want to build up a larger board than that and try to kill all your opponents in one go, but the setup seems astronomical. Doing OTKs is also a pretty repetitive gameplan for a commander.

The last ability seems like it'd be a lot of fun. A player dying usually implies that someone is going off in some way, so it's nice that it gives the other players a way to find an answer. It's not really a great fit for a commander that's based on killing all your enemies at the same time though.

There's an instant that does that. Your version should probably either counter the spell, or allow you to take control of it and choose new targets. Otherwise it just becomes a game of them naming a valid target, losing the toss, and having to repeat the process over and over again. That could easily happen 4 or more times without needing to be ridiculously unlucky.
I might also suggest that it gains counters each time it blocks a target, and sacs itself when it has enough counters.

My plan was to add equipment & cheat equip cost to make a voltron equp that swings at the weakest player while slinging 3/4 copies of an ETB vehicle at everyone else for things like draw or burn damage. The vehicles keep Myriad, so unless someone has artifact removal, could probably swing it out each turn. It feels fragile though.

Origionally, I wanted to 'Equip rockets and missiles' to the vehicles to keep on theme and made me think about how I could make Vehicle Equipment viable. I seen Cyberman Squadron and it took me down a rabbit hole to making this card.

>Performer
While designing a deckbuilding game, I found that Performers / Bards / Artists work well when they display cards to other players. Which cards they display and how they display them are their metaphorical performance, and the key to their flavor is nailing those details in connection with the card name.

In your card, she's a starlet and she's displaying via discard. But what is she displaying? What would a starlet display? What would she gain from that display?

Start with "When you discard an instant or sorcery card this way, create a Treasure token." Replace the condition and payoff to suit your set, slot, and thematic needs.
