I kind of fucked up making the general thread for this originally, so Iโ€™m going to reiterate my question here.

Currently fantasizing about making supportless 3d printed (FDM) optimised models to proxy for kill teams. I have my eye on ratlings since theyโ€™re small and you can do stuff like model them with hell guns where the cables of them support the heft of the gun, or just have the gun be big enough to touch the ground by the stock or by the barrel. Which sounds easier to do for me than anything else. And could result in some good poses.

But if you guys have ideas for what (which kill teams) and how (ideas for poses per certain models) can be done differently, do share your thoughts.

not much to say, your faction abillity is quite useless against them and the trick ike auto crits n such that work against other teams work against them as well but less effektive. only thing you can do is like with every bigger team against elite, bait them into position for your damage dealers or delay and block them from scoring points.

Got in a game earlier this week. My Death Guard against my buddies' Angles of Death. He thumped me pretty hard point-wise. We were doing the Upload objective. I think....sit on the objective to charge it up from turn to turn....

I really need to get a caster for this team....basically 4 short range dudes....Flamer with 7" range, Grenadier with 6" range, Heavy melee dude with no range....and the commander with a plasma pistol 8" range. coupled with the DGs 5" movement....most of my guys never got into range to do much....

that is the thing I love about Kill Team....I can collect and paint far more teams for it than I could ever do for 40k.

The issue is: Warhammer minis are not that. Just look at that dwarf on your pic above. Sure, it looks decent enough. And it sure is impressive how far FDM printers have come. But it also looks like some 2nd edition Warhammer figure, and it still has layer lines, and it still looks a bit worse than what a 1st generation resin printer like the Mars 1 could do.
But certainly, FDM printers can print some decent quality minis these days, if you settle with some more simplistic designs and poses. For me, their biggest downside would be the print time. The time it takes to print one of those dwarfs from that picture in that quality, any recent resin printer spits out 2-3 full plates, potentially giving you 2-3 entire kill teams.

Still assembling my printer. The whole reason Iโ€™m going for FDM prints is because i was addicted to buying model kits like drugs. So i threw them out and sold the rest of my stuff that wasnโ€™t inherently demonic. After a break and some ground rules, i feel like i can start playing again. No regrets.

I want to get into Kill Team with Plague Marines since I got a box of them a few months ago but never planned to build a full army. It seems that I can build them in a way that covers all the Kill Team load-outs. Yea but It IS close enough so you could use him as a champion or a warrior and he is distinct enough to not get confused with one of the others models. Those are the important parts. So if you make a champion it needs to look different enough to the warrior to not get confused (the painting can help there bigtime as well, giving the champion a red helmet or whatever, or some detail like a nurgling on the shoulder that makes him quite unique)

If you are only run n gun anyways, i guess ammo cache is good to ensure the cryptec weapon hit or comms for better skill range of him, but those options are pretty local so could be useless depending on how the match goes, otherwise your team is kinda slow so ladders may be useful depending on terrain.

Favorite game this edition: Hunter Clade vs. Pathfinders. I was running heavy on Rangers, and the game started out as a "hide and shoot". The Ruststalker detachment got into CQC with the Tau and annihilated them.

You can make pretty much any terrain into Ork terrain just slap some ork symbols etc on it. In terms of the existing terrain I guess it'll just look like an even bigger scrap pile. Maybe add something like a destroyed Rhino for a bit of variety.

If you want all the permutations of the team you need 5 boxes
>1st box: technomancer, apprentek, 1 despotek and 3 guardians with gauss
>2nd box: 1 despotek and 4 guardians with tesla
>3rd box: a box of deathmarks
>4th box: psychomancer
>5th box: technomancer
just because you aren't gonna need those extra boxes and everyone and their mother builds them as apprentek, 1 deathmark, 1 despotek and 2 guardians with whatever + chronomancer (which is why the summary also says it's a 2 box team) doesn't make it not true
on a completely "umm akshully" level you'll need a 6th box of immortals for 2 extra guardians with gauss and 1 with tesla and so you can have EVERY possible permutation if for whatever reason you choose not to use the apprentek and the despotek and substitute them for regular warriors

It's technically a two box team for optimal play. The reason is that on ItD maps, the stalker becomes a strictly worse aspirant (since his abilities interact with vantage terrain), so you'd want to swap it for specificallyany map without vantage.
That said, a) it's a pretty minor difference, b) you might not play ItD, and c) most opponents will accept if you say that it's a regular guy for those specific games
So unless you need to appease some autism it is a one boxer.

The system to note how many boxes are needed per team is a compromise between having the necessary info and not taking up so much space that the image size doubles. It's really meant to be used to assess if a team is interesting or not if number of boxes is a factor to the user (e.g. chaos cult needing three might be a dealbreaker to some). It isn't meant to have a detailed breakdown of what is needed and why for each team.
That said, I'd make the argument that it's pretty easy to assess which teams are 1 box teams using it.

Either way you're losing something in translation.

So it's great that homebrew works for your group. It doesn't for everyone. It's only better because it gives the illusion of being somewhat official.

These answers are interesting because they are one interpretation. You've elected to keep the old equipment in the game as an option alongside giving the teams access to the new stuff (an interesting thing to note is that old equipment means access to 3+ to hit full seek weapons for any team with access to old grenades). Outside this, you've elected to mostly keep the rules the same (even where this messes with core gameplay designs in the new edition), only avoiding that when it requires an actual update. This is a valid way to recreate the old teams (though just going by your answers, any weapon that previously had the unwieldy rule but not the heavy rule has suddenly become a weapon without movement restrictions so that might be worth looking at). It captures most of (but not all of) the letter of the RAW interpretation but doesn't go much in the way of the RAI interpretation.
Something could be said about each of your answers individually but the point I was making is that it is, in fact, a homebrew, and one that requires decisions to be made that will differ from person to person.

What's the best team to run for Hearthkyn Salvagers? I skipped out on the dozer and kognitar because it felt like the other units were more useful, and took beamer/missiles/rotary for my gunners. My biggest issue is I kept feeling like I had my operatives in the wrong spot and movement range is so short it is tricky to get back into position. The damage increase is pretty big actually. Two 5+ rolls - not super unlikely with 4 dice and a reroll - and you deal 4 unblockable damage to the marine, which now has to save two crits (or potentially more) on two dice or lose at least half its wounds. For a basic warrior, that's a threat to a marine. Two of those shots is a good chance of a dead marine.
(above calculation made assuming both the reroll ploy, drone aura, and piercing rules are all active)
The devastating damage really helps push things over thresholds for them.
I'm not saying it's an insane marine-killer but it is a very valid way of getting rid of them. Much better than most teams' basic weaponry.

How easy would you say the new terrain is to print out on fdm? Did not want 2 teams, but even buying the terrain from someone seems like a waste for just having "random spike" and "tree stump but alien"

Seems pretty reasonable to me that raveners would be the team that is favoured when neither side has much experience with their team, the team is more about picking as good an option as possible out of a wide variety of good options while servitors are more limited.

If you have someone really uptight about WYSIWYG, you might want to magnetize your models for some weapon swapouts. I've come across some waacfags, but for the most part KT also brings some pretty decent dudes to the table. "Everything you need" is pretty dependent on the team you're playing. For my Plague Marines, I just assembled a box and rolled with it. For Hunter Clade, I had to mix and match a couple of boxes of Skitarii so I could have both rangers and vanguard, and also toss in a box of Sicarians for making elite teams a lot less of a threat.

Now that i have seen some battlereports, both teams look really fun. The tunnel system seems quite strange making the team super dependent on the area the tunnel is what is quite bad for a melee team with low operative count not being able to spread out. still seem strong.
