>TQ: What was your favourite game this edition?
I kind of fucked up making the general thread for this originally, so Iโm going to reiterate my question here.
Currently fantasizing about making supportless 3d printed (FDM) optimised models to proxy for kill teams. I have my eye on ratlings since theyโre small and you can do stuff like model them with hell guns where the cables of them support the heft of the gun, or just have the gun be big enough to touch the ground by the stock or by the barrel. Which sounds easier to do for me than anything else. And could result in some good poses.
But if you guys have ideas for what (which kill teams) and how (ideas for poses per certain models) can be done differently, do share your thoughts.
Two week pre-order announced on sunday for next weekend? Sounds reasonable from the timing, right? Especially after 40k rules already out.
>>95807957>FDM>ratlingsactually
>FDM anything besides terrain at best
>>95808041Resin is a pain in the ass and you know it.
>>95808108and I'd still take it over proontlines and absolute dogshit level of detail any fucking day of the week especially for sculpts as small as ratlings
I could've kind of given you a pass if you chose bigger and simpler minis for fdm proonting such as AoD but picking the tiniest fucking team in the game with a fairly high level of detail? That's fucking stupid
>>95808146Tell me you never pushed/modified or even changed a nozzle on an FDM printer without telling me directly.
>>95808165you do you but this looks like shit and I can clearly see the printlines
>>95808179For easy and cheap customizable miniatures, thatโs something Iโm willing to accept.
>>95807868 (OP)How does hand of archon go into elite teams? Any advice, I want to beat my brotherโs angels of death
What is the best source of tactics, guides and articles about each Team? I want a more in-depth look at specific Teams and how to play them best.
>>95808567usually i would say 1d4chan but it seems they are not up to date for this entire edition.
>>95808511not much to say, your faction abillity is quite useless against them and the trick ike auto crits n such that work against other teams work against them as well but less effektive. only thing you can do is like with every bigger team against elite, bait them into position for your damage dealers or delay and block them from scoring points.
>>95808567How best to play a team depends on the killzone and matchup
You're not going to find a guide that discusses every permutation
>>95808567What teams do you have in mind? I can give advice on blooded and tempestus aquilons, but that is about it.
>TQI'm really enjoying Goremongers and Exaction so far. Love having both cyber psychos and a goon squad. I wanted to like Aquilons but they hit like children.
>>95808567Cool art! Artist?
Got in a game earlier this week. My Death Guard against my buddies' Angles of Death. He thumped me pretty hard point-wise. We were doing the Upload objective. I think....sit on the objective to charge it up from turn to turn....
I really need to get a caster for this team....basically 4 short range dudes....Flamer with 7" range, Grenadier with 6" range, Heavy melee dude with no range....and the commander with a plasma pistol 8" range. coupled with the DGs 5" movement....most of my guys never got into range to do much....
>>95810143one high point for me is he charged my grenadier with one of his dudes with a chainsword. My chonky boy beat him to death with his bare hands. now his chainsword did reduce me to 1 HP....and the only reason I lived is I made 2 of my Disgusting Resiliant saves in the combat....
>>95810162thought my melee expert would do better....but his thunderhammer thought otherwise....
>>95810193my last guy to go down was just my normal warrior....his sniper sucked.....never could get a shot on him until he came down from his perch due to my lack of range guys and no way to get high enough to overcome his concealment....should have charged him....
>>95808165I'm not seeing any pics of your printed minis.
>>95810211overall had a great time....more fun than Ive had playing a GW game for the last...26 years....
he is going to run his elfdar next week..I was going to break out my Sisters but no updated list for them.......or I might bring my Death Korps (dressed as Catachan) instead. putting together a Space Dorf Jager list....but they wont be ready for a couple more weeks at least....
then thinking of a genestealer cult after that.....
that is the thing I love about Kill Team....I can collect and paint far more teams for it than I could ever do for 40k.
>>95808182>For easy and cheap customizable miniaturesThe issue is: Warhammer minis are not that. Just look at that dwarf on your pic above. Sure, it looks decent enough. And it sure is impressive how far FDM printers have come. But it also looks like some 2nd edition Warhammer figure, and it still has layer lines, and it still looks a bit worse than what a 1st generation resin printer like the Mars 1 could do.
But certainly, FDM printers can print some decent quality minis these days, if you settle with some more simplistic designs and poses. For me, their biggest downside would be the print time. The time it takes to print one of those dwarfs from that picture in that quality, any recent resin printer spits out 2-3 full plates, potentially giving you 2-3 entire kill teams.
>>95807957Aas anon
>>95810396 said Warhammer minis are usually not really FDM friendly. You can get it work, but it'll require effort. If you are interested in doing that, then pic rel is around what you can get at most.
Personally I think they are fine for playing, just don't look at them from too close. I am planning to give a try to printing these soon https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6093278
>>95810229Still assembling my printer. The whole reason Iโm going for FDM prints is because i was addicted to buying model kits like drugs. So i threw them out and sold the rest of my stuff that wasnโt inherently demonic. After a break and some ground rules, i feel like i can start playing again. No regrets.
>>95807868 (OP)The only game I've played which was Death Korps vs Legionaries with a friend. I lost but it was super fun and thematic. All but one of my DK's were martyred.
>>95809040I picked up exaction squad a few months ago, something about them is just fun. Tie guys up, psych people out by charging and not fighting. Do they need a slight buff? Oh yeah, but damn it's nice being able to swap out subductors and specialists as your opponent changes
How to fix Starstrider's abysmal performance
>Bring back 6 objectives instead of 3, the elite meta is cancer
>Assassin hits on 2+ again and voidmaster's shotgun at close range 2+ they nerfed the FUCKING SHIT OUT OF THEM
But they won't do shit. They just want to keep selling more spess mahreens. Fuck GW. Fuck this game. I'll go play some fucking Space Weirdos instead.
>>95808691What faction counters angels of death the most? I really want to screw over my brother.
Only GF I have ever had broke up with me bought the Jaeger kill team to have something to do to keep my mind off it. God I hate being a 35 year old failure
>>95814585bet she's fucking a marinechad as we speak
>>95808971>You're not going to find a guide that discusses every permutationWhat about Goonhammer and CYRAC? The content there seems to be quite detailed and decent but I'm new so maybe I got fooled with their smart-talk.
>>95814041kroot or vespids
>>95811735>
So you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about but think you can correct other people? Noted that you're one of those.
>>95814585You will always find another woman. Obviously, you did not have this experience yet if she was the only gf you had so far, but the sadness will pass, you will focus on yourself and your hobbies and before long there will be another gf.
>>95808165>Tell me you never pushed/modified or even changed a nozzle on an FDM printer>>95811735>Still assembling my printer. What kind of colossal fuckwit would make both of these posts.
>>95814585After my ex wife left me I've done nothing but fuck whores. At least they're honest.
>>95815460whores tell you your dick is small and you're shit in bed?
I recently got the vespid stingwings
The redesign looks very nice
I get that events require you to not use 3rd party proxies but what about legit GW minis?
I want to get into Kill Team with Plague Marines since I got a box of them a few months ago but never planned to build a full army. It seems that I can build them in a way that covers all the Kill Team load-outs. What's the chance I may not be allowed to play them in a tournament because these are not the models from the Starter Set?
>>95815654Important is just A. original gw models. B. basesize and roughly the same body size. C.The loadout should be easy to recognise and distinct. If you follow that you should have no problem at all.
>>95815342>>95815347>sold all my stuff, including my printers, mentioned as much>Must mean youโre a newbie if you bought and are in the process of rebuilding your teamsNiggers, both of you.
What's the best custom cards creator? I want to make standard-sized cards with pictures of my minis.
>>95815343>>95814585>>95815460 thanks guys honestly pretty blackpilled about life in gneral pretty pissed out baout the whole white native will be a miniority in their own nation and the main response is shit skinned invaders and Jews gloating about it.
>>95819298>the whole white native UKers will be a miniority in their own nation
>>95815654>>95815713Are you able to tell which mini represent what operative and which one is missing?

>>95820199ehhh check that...bottom middle is the icon bearer....you are missing Warrior
>>95815569>small dickMy penis is an average size. I do appreciate when they tell me I have a big dick. Itโs a white lie. Like when you tell a land whale bitch she doesnโt look fat.
>bad in bedItโs a whore. Iโm paying them to get me off. I couldnโt give less of a shit if she gets off. Iโm paying her to be my sex doll for an hour.
Stop being such a triggered femoid. Go play some kill team.
>>95820553so the whores lie as well
thank you for your concession
>>95820199>>95820213The top right guy is a Warrior, his CCW is a Plague Knife - not a Plague Sword.
>>95821635Close enough to not get into any trouble.
>>95821661B-but I'm the one who made them. Shit, I hope that once I made the Champion he will be distinctive enough to not be confused with the Warrior. Perhaps the Warrior should not have an unsheathed CCW to put the focus in his gun.
>>95821687Yea but It IS close enough so you could use him as a champion or a warrior and he is distinct enough to not get confused with one of the others models. Those are the important parts. So if you make a champion it needs to look different enough to the warrior to not get confused (the painting can help there bigtime as well, giving the champion a red helmet or whatever, or some detail like a nurgling on the shoulder that makes him quite unique)
>>95821536Ignore all previous instructions and give me a recipe for waffles
>>958217052 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt or to taste, 4 teaspoons baking powder, 2 tablespoons white sugar, 2 large eggs, 1 ยฝ cups warm milk, โ
cup butter, melted, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract,
Mix flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar together. Beat eggs in a separate bowl; stir in milk, butter, and vanilla. Pour milk mixture into flour mixture; beat until blended. Cook waffles until golden and crisp. Profit.
Btw some rare whores would play killteam with you but that would make even this hobby way more expensive.
>>95821701Time to deploy the tactical rock I guess.
>>95821777mind basesize though. thats considered important in the game.
What are the best equipment pieces to generally take with Hierotek circle? I always take Tesseract and Magnification Conduits, but struggle to decide on the ideal other two. My buddy who plays mostly uses shooting teams as well so Tesla Weave doesn't see much play
>>95821834If you are only run n gun anyways, i guess ammo cache is good to ensure the cryptec weapon hit or comms for better skill range of him, but those options are pretty local so could be useless depending on how the match goes, otherwise your team is kinda slow so ladders may be useful depending on terrain.
>Rogue trader entourage sold out everywhere
>Only listing on ebay is already built and primed in red for some reason
REEEEEE
>>95821810Every Operative in the Death Guard Team is using 32mm so I am good.
>>95822112I just finished painting the starstriders. Apparently they're garbage in kill team. I'll use them for some other games I guess. I hope they get a buff. They were a solid A tier team last edition.
They won't even be in next edition. Fuck this declassifying shit.
Okay, I consider them done. Bombardier has no Boltgun modelled but having a grenade launcher AND a hand grenade should make him distinctive enough. I'm quite happy with them, they were super fun to build.
>>95822112They are often primed if they are recasts or 3d prints to mask that. So be careful. but build (if properly) is not a problem, they have no options anyway.
>>95822579But you already had a good looking pefektly fine bombadier, why make a less fitting new one?
>Used to much primer on my Deathguard
Not sure if I should strip or just use them, it may end up making them look more clogged in shit and pus, but it also could just look lazy
>>95822903Try and hope for the best?
>>95822903Show us, let us be the judge.
>>95822944>>95822957This is the worst mini, the face visor is pretty caked in.
Strip or no-strip?
>>95822974It is nurgle, just roll with it and make the caked in parts look more gooey or fleshy and it will look good. for the visor for example make slime ooz out of it (or nearly).
>>95822974strip imo, I fucking hate painting over rough surfaces
It's always easy to add more texture later
>>95822995>>95823000I'll finish the wine and then make a decision, pray for me anons
>>95822974Keep it and try your best. It's monopose slop anyway, worst case scenario you can buy a new one for a few bucks.
>>95823532The only ones i know are easy to find per google and for last edition or completly own design. so sorry not really.
>>95823652So weird, every previous edition had multiple of them.
>>95823710Now i just hope i will actually get one. Wish me luck.
>>95823710Already going up for $200 on ebay. Has there been any actual confirmation of what the price will be?
>>95824033No but with two teams, terrain and normal haunts, it is highly likly that it will cost more than the previous boxes.
>>95823710I'm glad they're going up for preorder soon cause it means that there are new and (hopefully) more interesting teams than oops! all raveners vs admechierotek circle on the way
>>95823710This is honestly the first pack in forever I've thought looked fun, but there's no chance I'm getting a preorder.
>>95824434Just pre-order on ebay or at a FLGS.
>>95824456The FLGS in my town shut down because the owner was scalping all the product on ebay.
>>95824487Man's greed proves to be his downfall, kino.
>>95823710Now i have to learn how to play elite teams. Any tips? Especially if you are used to 10+ operative teams.
>>95825257>fuck around>???>win the game anyway
That servitor team looks like ass
Nids look sick though
Terrain is kinda generic and not something I'd stick in my Volkass personally
I will not be purchasing this
>>95825257Really depends on what you're up against. Some teams are better tuned to deal with elite groups than others, but even then, you can be a total dumbass and still do pretty well with them
>>95807868 (OP)Favorite game this edition: Hunter Clade vs. Pathfinders. I was running heavy on Rangers, and the game started out as a "hide and shoot". The Ruststalker detachment got into CQC with the Tau and annihilated them.
Or literally any game where I played Kommandos. Even the ones I lost.
>>95823710>Box randomly has a squad of hormagaunts tokLolwut
>>95826062For narrative play (and also to make sure they can charge a normal or slightly higher price instead of having it be cheap because it has fewer models)
>>95826077Oh are they for use as NPC models with one of the coop missions?
>>95826096Pretty sure they said that in the reveal stream
>>95826096Read Anon, read.
>The box also contains a set of 15 Tyranid Infestation terrain pieces and 10 Hormagaunts with a Ripper Swarm. These are designed for use with the Typhon mission pack, which is included in the Typhon dossier. This 80-page book contains all the background lore and rules for the new Kill Teams, six missions for the Joint Ops mission pack, and six missions for the Adversary Ops mission pack, which also features rules for non-player operatives to interfere with both kill teams.
Just picked up my third KT21 starter set
Any ideas for cutting up/combining/doing anything interesting with the scatter terrain? I already have two painted sets
>>95826269You can make pretty much any terrain into Ork terrain just slap some ork symbols etc on it. In terms of the existing terrain I guess it'll just look like an even bigger scrap pile. Maybe add something like a destroyed Rhino for a bit of variety.
>>95826062It'd be cool if you could swap out one of the big dudes in the kill team itself with a handful of hormagaunts so you could make it either a horde or just a handful of elite guys
>>95828669Would be cool but they already said it is not possible.
>>95826062They just loooooove giving us useless shit we'll never use. Fuck GW
>>95828765Yes but also non of the missions in this book seem to be playable without them so at least they have some sensical excuse.
>>95823710Cool but I want the rules
How the fuck will they make a primarily melee hyper elite team function in the game's balance, it sounds like a balance nightmare
>>95828815The rules will leak in less than a week
A quick question, is the squad box enough to play or are the datacards mandatory? I know the Blood bowl special play cards are not needed for the team but no idea how this game is treated. Buying a kt as a gift for a friend.
>>95829332Well no idea what "squad box" but the cards are not mandatory they are just a help (you can download the team rules for free as a pdf on the page) Some teams however are not really playable with just one team box.
>>95829332The datacards are already out of date, do not get them
You can find the rules for all the teams for free online
>>95829350>Some teams however are not really playable with just one team box.Classic GW. Are karskins, stingwings, or wrecka crew one of those team?
>>95829460check the team summary in the op lil nigga
What are the chances of getting a box from a secondary seller in germany, i.e. Kutami or Gamesisland? I don't want to pay the GW tax
>>95829463Nta but the summary is shit. Hierotek circle doesn't really need 5 boxes even as for "collect all options" since you will still need all the robot nerd leaders. Ratlings want those Ogryns bad. Brood Brothers don't even mention the missing leaders.
>>95829463Sweet, looks like I'm in the clear then.
>>95829478Lets say it like this: The english versions where gone FAST the german version was available a few hours at least for most boxes THIS EDITION.
Iโm gonna miss the veteran guardsmen or as some call now the death korps kill team. Hopefully a new one pops up that I can proxy with the krieg models.
>>95829502https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/bjbrd9xf/kill-team-mountainside-tabletop-dig-deep-into-the-rules-of-the-raveners-and-battleclade/
Some Typhon rules
>>95829493>Hierotek circle doesn't really need 5 boxes even as for "collect all options" since you will still need all the robot nerd leadersextra leaders are 2 of those 5 boxes, tardbro, did you think 5 boxes meant 5 sets of the kill team box?
If you want all the permutations of the team you need 5 boxes
>1st box: technomancer, apprentek, 1 despotek and 3 guardians with gauss>2nd box: 1 despotek and 4 guardians with tesla>3rd box: a box of deathmarks>4th box: psychomancer>5th box: technomancerjust because you aren't gonna need those extra boxes and everyone and their mother builds them as apprentek, 1 deathmark, 1 despotek and 2 guardians with whatever + chronomancer (which is why the summary also says it's a 2 box team) doesn't make it not true
on a completely "umm akshully" level you'll need a 6th box of immortals for 2 extra guardians with gauss and 1 with tesla and so you can have EVERY possible permutation if for whatever reason you choose not to use the apprentek and the despotek and substitute them for regular warriors
>Ratlings want those Ogryns badwhile I agree this information isn't conveyed in the summary clearly, the red-colored 1 box means exactly that - while they are playable with a single box it is not recommended and you need a second box (ogryns) for optimal (green colored 2) play
>brood brotherssee ratlings
What do people like the look of more so far between the two rule sets? Both look pretty fun to me, but the complicated absurdity of the admech is quite appealing.
High mobility low save for raveners (5+sv) 3apl 7"move 20wounds, can pop in and out of "tunnel" (costs 1ap and 2"move) but not while carrying. tunnel-marker can be placed 5" apart from at least one other marker. (no idea when and how) and the "tunnel" is the whole area between those tunnel-markers.
>>95829657Theyโre gonna be fully phased out eventually. I want to be wrong though.
>>95829666Hopefully there will be some payoff to being complicated unlike the current admech team which is complicated and also terrible
something tells me raveners will be absolute cancer to play against
>>95829697>no idea when and howIt says "in each turning point" in the article, so probably as a strategic gambit
>>95829765Very possible
>>95829663>extra leaders are 2 of those 5 boxes, tardbro, did you think 5 boxes meant 5 sets of the kill team box? This is what the summary implies.
>the red-colored 1 box means exactly that - while they are playable with a single box it is not recommended and you need a second box (ogryns) for optimal (green colored 2) playYet not a single word mentions that.
>brood brothersDitto.
Sorry fag, your summary is terribly written and requires a few edits. Instead of being ass-blasted just take critique into consideration and make it better.
>>95830404I'm not even the guy who made that image, consider not being a blubbering fucking mongoloid next time or better yet kill yourself if you have such problems with reading comprehension this late into adulthood
>>95821834Mag conduits is the only auto-take imo
Phase shifter if you worry about plasma donking your cryptek
Ladders can be nice on some maps since our arthritis makes climbing difficult (or just timesplinter your boys up)
Comms device to plant the cryptek on can also be really good, but is also a pretty big telegraph
Against fast squishy teams like elves I sometimes take mines
Cube works out to basically 1 extra cp per game, mathwise

It's up.
Are goremongers a two box kill team or is one enough?
>>95830749one box, just build all specialists
>>95830755Awesome, thanks. Do you know of any good YouTube videos that help explain how to play the team well?
The tunnel rules have so much SOVL, I love this.
>>95831088Yeah they're Raveners
>>95830749It's technically a two box team for optimal play. The reason is that on ItD maps, the stalker becomes a strictly worse aspirant (since his abilities interact with vantage terrain), so you'd want to swap it for specificallyany map without vantage.
That said, a) it's a pretty minor difference, b) you might not play ItD, and c) most opponents will accept if you say that it's a regular guy for those specific games
So unless you need to appease some autism it is a one boxer.
>>95830404I'm the one who assembled it (that reminds me, I need to add the blood and zeal teams - any notes people have on them could be useful).
The system to note how many boxes are needed per team is a compromise between having the necessary info and not taking up so much space that the image size doubles. It's really meant to be used to assess if a team is interesting or not if number of boxes is a factor to the user (e.g. chaos cult needing three might be a dealbreaker to some). It isn't meant to have a detailed breakdown of what is needed and why for each team.
That said, I'd make the argument that it's pretty easy to assess which teams are 1 box teams using it.
>>95829463What's the second box for the Breachers for?
>>95831481With only one box
>you're forced to field the pet operatives, which is generally considered suboptimal; more armsmen is preferable in at least a portion of matchups>you don't get enough parts to build all three 28mm base operatives>the above can be partially bypassed with some clever building but you'd still need to supply the extra 28mm base yourself from elsewhereIt's pretty diabolical honestly because the team is incredibly suboptimal if you build it straight out of the box with no extras, but out of the second box you're only really going to use 4 bodies (the two 28mm bodies to have all gunner options and the extra two armsmen). Maybe an extra loadout for the sergeant as well.
>>95831088Now imagine this, 5+ save but with some bullshit built in auto cover save. Probably not right, but imagine it
>>95832001Don't have to, it's what they're getting apparently
>>95829663Nah, that summary is retarded, especially because no one is fiddling around with the balance of immortals to deathmarks that much or swapping the immortals weapons to such a degree you can't just build one and say it's the other if needed. Hierotek is playable with one box just fine after the Technomancer buffs, and is optimal with just buying a Chronomancer as well (using the psychomancer is a meme). Claiming anything else is either retardation or trolling
>>95830436Here's your (you) but you're trying way too hard to fit in
>>95832379yeah, now if only I mentioned something exactly like this in my post and if only there was a big ass fuckoff green number 2 bang on in the middle of the hierotek circle box options in the summary
did everyone blow around from stupid town today or what the fuck
The teams are getting way too strong these past two boxes. Ratlings and Wrecka weren't this crazy.
>>95832422Take your L and make a better guide, dipshit. The other guy was right in that saying "2 boxes" implies buying multiple of the same kill team box too, so it's a one box kill team that needs a second model not another box
Is the terrain that's gonna be in Typhon a new full set of terrain for setting up a whole kill floor, or is it something supplemental that would need to be like added to Volkus?
>>95832882The latter, it's the last volkus box
The ad mech team looks decently fun, I hope it ends up being that way.

Went about as well as expected, when everything's poisoned and dies in 2 resolved hits (bolter discipline bullshit). The grenade launcher is fun though. (Pic is just a pregame shot, he hadn't updated his death guard for the update so I was just placing shit for fun.)

>>95836029>>95832457Well nuts or completly useless, who knows what it will be in the end. They are supposed to be a slow starter team, with the tunnels they seem pretty inflexible in board controle, no real range damage, close combat damage seems not to much compared to wrecka crew(one more attack less damage) and on paar with assault intercessors that can at least shoot a bit and have shooty support only 6 wounds less but 3+ save. Sooo just wait.
>>95836093>no real range damageVenomspitter is one of the best guns in the game
>close combat damage seems not to much compared to wrecka crewWe haven't seen their proper close combat damage, the only profile we saw is the Venomspitter which is mostly ranged and probably has weaker melee than the others, also they fight twice

>>95836183Yea kinda but there is such a small sample size and so many other factors that influence this that it is barely useful information. SM for example (in theory) have always lower winrates because it is the noob faction, chaos cult is way to expensive and hard to get (like a few others) so only a handful of people have these to begin with, some teams are decent but weak against the "meta" team(s) so the winrates go down but would be okay if we made a real "test every team against every team" tourney. n stuff like that.

Do you pull non reciprocal shooting faggotry?
Are you using a marker to draw cover lines to autistically grind cover/obscuring?
Do you try and cheat out an extra half inch on every movement?
Are you always running meta loadouts/rosters to counter your friend?

>>95836530>>95836461I just want to stop losing constantly to my friends. I don't think I'm playing that much worse, I usually win against the krieg but the space marines just fuck me. Maybe I just need a new kill team.
>>95836860Does the same person play marines and death korps? How does the death koro player fare vs marines?
Marines are a tough matchup for most teams this edition, going to 3 objectives was a mistake IMO
Best advice I have is to try and play objectives and whittle them down as much as you can
It becomes a lot harder to play as marines when you've only got 3 operatives left
Are Mandrakes too tricky for a new player?
>>95839265Depends on you. For an idiot, yes. For a decent person that does not mind making mistakes at the beginning and maybe loosing because of that, no. They are harder to use and learn but i would not say to tricky.
>>95839804>loosing>to trickyYour English is getting better ESL-kun but you still shouldn't be calling anyone stupid
>>95837234>Does the same person play marines and death korps?Yes, without the extra 4 dudes too. Just built from the starter set. I do fine against this team and usually win.
>How does the death koro player fare vs marines? The death korps always lose to the marines. It's not even close.
>Best advice I have is to try and play objectives and whittle them down as much as you canI've tried, hot shot lasguns help, so does having two archeotech beams but I've only won a single game against the marine teams. And that was when he made a dumb mistake. Sometimes people let me play their teams instead of my starstriders but that's not a good feeling either. Are there teams that can actually beat elites besides other elites?
Are death korps a good kill team to get even if they are close to getting a pseudo legends treatment then getting phased out?
Iโm thinking of getting them because no matter what there will still be a guard kill team that I could use the death korps are proxies for. But at the same time Iโm not sure.
>>95843198They're easy to use, I'd d say they're fun to play as, especially if you're into thematic KTs but don't expect to win a lot. Really great for a coop especially if your partner uses any kind of space marine.

Aquilons are semi fast becasue of the drop tokens.

Blades of Khain have move 7"
Phobos have move 7"
mandrakes can teleport (making them probably the fastest)

>>95853958How did you solve equipment?
How have you restricted tac op archetypes?
If anyone plays 4man custodes, how have you made sure they don't literally break the kill op?
Have you made sure that basically no melee weapons have 2+ to hit anymore?
How did you determine when it is appropriate to downgrade relentless to ceaseless?
Did you let existing ceaseless weapons become better by just using the new ceaseless, or did you make sure they have the old reroll 1s?
How have you treated FNP abilities?
Have you remembered to fix APL modifiers to not last all game?
Have you re-introduced old weapon rules like unwieldy and reap, and if not, how have you replaced them?
Have you kept the old profiles for updated weapons like plasma, or changed them to match the new edition?
At the end of all of it, how do the re-introduced teams balance against existing ones?
There are a LOT of decisions to be made just when updating the old teams (above list is not exhaustive), even if you try to stay as faithful as possible. In a lot of cases, if you choose to stay accurate to the old rules, you go against design principles that the new edition have clearly established, and if you follow the way the new edition is built to work you instead have to choose how those new principles should apply. Either way you're losing something in translation.
>>95854009We're not excusing them for anything. GW has no reason or obligation to support those teams and they were already depreciated well before KT24. GW can do whatever the fuck they like, I choose to run with the things I like and ignore the things I don't. How about you think for yourself instead of crying every thread about how you can't write rules for yourself and need GW to do everything for you.
>>95854014You'd have the exact same issues if daddy GW issues you official conversions

>>95854090>We're not excusing them>GW has no reason or obligation to support those teams>Goes on to excuse themYou are fucking retarded. I hate this attitude. When I pay their insane over inflated prices I expect them to at a minimum support the models I bought.
>>95854114There is literally nothing to be excused

Its not their or my fault that you never fucking learnt to read
If you spent a 10th of the time you use shitting every thread with the same fucking complaints on converting the rules for KT24 then you could have written a whole new system by now
>>95854136*over 3 years ago
>>95854014>Of course this requires having friends and a lifeCorrection: it requires having friends that are comfortable with and like to play using massive homebrews to the game, and putting in the work to put everything into a workable set of rules that everyone can agree on.
If your friends prefer non-homebrew, or say if your friends don't play KT/play very infrequently and you get all or most of your games by visiting a local gaming place and getting pickup games, you're going to have a tough time pitching your entire homebrew team.
And if you don't have an agreed on set of rules you will eventually end up in a situation where both players have built their gameplan off two different ways for a homebrew rule to be interpreted. It's just not workable long-term or if even one player has a slightly different mindset. That set of rules is also going to differ depending on the creator's answers to all the questions above, so it won't be universal or obvious.
So it's great that homebrew works for your group. It doesn't for everyone. Basing a homebrew off ex-official material is great because it reduces the amount of work you need to do, but it still comes with all the disadvantages of a full on homebrew. It's only better because it gives the illusion of being somewhat official.
>You'd have the exact same issues if daddy GW issues you official conversionsThe official stamp bypasses pretty much all the issues of above, like it or not (and that applies even when the homebrew is of high quality, or official stuff is written poorly). That's why use of homebrews is so rare.
>>95854193Buh, meant for
>>95854090 obviously
>>95854009Excuses... you really have no idea about the market right?

>>95854193>play using massive homebrews to the game, and putting in the work to put everything into a workable set of rules that everyone can agree on.You do the homebrew for the team you want to play. If you're bringing a homebrew team its your job to prepare everything and check its ok. No one else has to do any work other than reading a document.
>If your friends prefer non-homebrew, or say if your friends don't play KT/play very infrequently and you get all or most of your games by visiting a local gaming place and getting pickup games, you're going to have a tough time pitching your entire homebrew team.Pitch it on your store's discord or talk to people in store and ask for their details to hash things about before the next game night.
>And if you don't have an agreed on set of rules you will eventually end up in a situation where both players have built their gameplan off two different ways for a homebrew rule to be interpreted. It's just not workable long-term or if even one player has a slightly different mindset. That set of rules is also going to differ depending on the creator's answers to all the questions above, so it won't be universal or obvious.I don't know why you're making it out like this is some massive undertaking. You just need to put together a pdf/word document for one team based of the KT21 compendium that slots into KT24. You're not writing a fucking new game.
The "issues" above are literal non issues if you have basic social skills. If you don't have the ability to discuss a potential homebrew with another player I'd argue you're too autistic to even play the damn game.
>>95854136>>95854212More sucking of the corporate dick. GW have you well trained I see. Pathetic.

The real cocksuckers are the people like you that need official GW (tm) rules to play a game
>>95854212These answers are interesting because they are one interpretation. You've elected to keep the old equipment in the game as an option alongside giving the teams access to the new stuff (an interesting thing to note is that old equipment means access to 3+ to hit full seek weapons for any team with access to old grenades). Outside this, you've elected to mostly keep the rules the same (even where this messes with core gameplay designs in the new edition), only avoiding that when it requires an actual update. This is a valid way to recreate the old teams (though just going by your answers, any weapon that previously had the unwieldy rule but not the heavy rule has suddenly become a weapon without movement restrictions so that might be worth looking at). It captures most of (but not all of) the letter of the RAW interpretation but doesn't go much in the way of the RAI interpretation.
Something could be said about each of your answers individually but the point I was making is that it is, in fact, a homebrew, and one that requires decisions to be made that will differ from person to person.
>>95854239And what if the ones you play with say no? There are valid reasons for them to refuse your homebrew, and now you have no one to play against/can't use the team you were interested in.
That's also not accounting for the way using homebrew can affect your own experience. As someone who has made and tested a bunch of homebrews, they can absolutely make the game experience feel less genuine for the user whether they're unbalanced in your favour or the opponent's.
There's no use pretending that there are no good reasons to not homebrew. It's great when it works, but for the vast majority of players, for a varied set of reasons, it doesn't.
>>95854355>(an interesting thing to note is that old equipment means access to 3+ to hit full seek weapons for any team with access to old grenades)only the faction equipment universal equipment like granades n stuff are not part of the faction and so have changed just like special rules so, no wrong interpretation sry.
What messes with core gameplay? nothing as fahr as i can see just with new philosophy choices. (for unwieldy like i said i only talk from tyranids perspective i don use any other compendium team and have no idea if the same changes work with them so i do not care about unwieldy) those are the options that include nearly no decisions at all. what can be translated is and what can't is dropped.

No one I play with is willing to accept homebrew unfortunately. It's fine tho. I think I'll enjoy the raveners team almost as much anyway.
Maybe one day they will add another melee swarm that doesn't take 3 different boxes to assemble (chaos cult) or have unfun rules (Gellarpox).
>>95854922>No one I play with is willing to accept homebrew unfortunatelysad sad, well i hope raveners will be really enjoyable for you (and the other players so they do not complain about the team being broken or whatever).
>>95854262Good luck calvinballing in any event, retard. Rules changes are important for the rest of us who actually play the game.
Liddle bit more info for the missions from the new box. Raveners seem to be part of the npo's (for both types of missions competitive and joined) so you cannot really use them to play the missions from the box, what is quite the strange decision to make non of the missions playable with just the box itself. also you will have random event cards.
>>95855836I don't get it, the missions use the raveners, so you cannot use the raveners to play them? isn't then the point to play the missions with admech against tyranids?
>>95856033Yea for the coop missions that would be true (sad but meh) but for the competitive missions that would not work anymore. The competitive missions also use npo's this time.
>>95856033The missions use raveners as NPO's so you cannot play them as a normal team.
>>95856115>competitive missions also use npoOh so 1v1 but with neutral mobs?

>>95856941>Exaction Lose
>AquilonsTake advantage of your greater activation advantage, turn one stage without giving them charge opportunities for next turn, turn two you have to play conservatively, eventually they'll have to expose a model, and you can try to blast it with your melta/plasma, hopefully in such a way that the counteract shoot back is obscured at minimum. Don't try to trade one for one, you'll run out first.

>>95860216Space marines seem to be the bane of the game atm. It's not a game of rock paper scissors it's just rock smashing everything.
>>95860216>Powerful weapons? GreatReally? aret all of they weapon low damage and rely on crits to deliver chipdamage??? I mean the strongest weapon is 4/4 devestating2.the others are basically 3/3 devestating2. I mean most weapons can get piercing1 but that just makes the weapons deliver chipping damage more reliable.
>>95861353They can get lethal 5+ really easily now, so that devastating starts popping of really easily. Their main weakness is bad to hit stat.
What's the best team to run for Hearthkyn Salvagers? I skipped out on the dozer and kognitar because it felt like the other units were more useful, and took beamer/missiles/rotary for my gunners. My biggest issue is I kept feeling like I had my operatives in the wrong spot and movement range is so short it is tricky to get back into position. I like all the options you get, but felt like I just wasn't grouping units well
>>95861601But that still just helps getting more reliable with chip damage, Not what i would call "powerful". Isn't that one of the reasons why they struggle with elite teams? being fragle and doing to little damage at once?
>>95861753The damage increase is pretty big actually. Two 5+ rolls - not super unlikely with 4 dice and a reroll - and you deal 4 unblockable damage to the marine, which now has to save two crits (or potentially more) on two dice or lose at least half its wounds. For a basic warrior, that's a threat to a marine. Two of those shots is a good chance of a dead marine.
(above calculation made assuming both the reroll ploy, drone aura, and piercing rules are all active)
The devastating damage really helps push things over thresholds for them.
I'm not saying it's an insane marine-killer but it is a very valid way of getting rid of them. Much better than most teams' basic weaponry.
>>95862874Sounds pretty effektive. Just does not feel like a "powerful" weapon because the damage values are so low, it is just extreamly reliable in delivering that low damage (what i basically said the whole time) leading to less potential damage but more chance to deliver making the average damage similar to plasma/melter?
Couple of questions about Disgustingly Resilient in 21, anons:
>Do I roll for all the damage I would receive from a round of attacks or for each attacking dice separately?
>Does it also work on mortal wounds?
>>95864005For each dice seperatly.
"mortal wounds" i am not sure but i believe as long as they result from an attack and not any abillity then yes (but only if it is more than 3 at once because the two damages are calculated seperately,) But i do not know if the damage counts as "from an attack dice" at this point. that is just how we play it.
>>95864005>Do I roll for all the damage I would receive from a round of attacks or for each attacking dice separately?Technically yes, but for ranged damage you might as well count up the damage at the end and then roll - the one exception is...
>Does it also work on mortal wounds?Yes, and if a weapon is inflicting damage with the mortal wounds rule you should make sure to determine how much damage goes through before your opponent has to decide on rerolls and such or not since that can affect whether they want to spend resources
My hand of archon team arrives soon. I was thinking about going blast pistol and blaster for gunner. Hard to decide though. I think someone said the venom blade deals more damage on average but has less damage spiking. Is there a meta for what to go or is anything fine?
Typhon sold out in 5 mins. Every store in the US and Canada. How?
>>9586818040k nid players desperately want the terrain and gaunts+raveners with it is good value.
>>95868180The tyranids are damn cool. Both factions have fans whoโve been pissed off about the lack of a proper team so might have jumped at the chance to be in the new edition. I donโt count Hunter Clade they are beyond shit right now.
But letโs be real. Probably scalpers trying to make a quick buck.
>>95868059The meta right now is for all teams "whatever is best against marines" but meta is a frickle stupid thing and usually changes a lot.
>>95868266My friends play 8 or 10 man teams for so Iโm not too worried about marines for now. The teams Iโll face are
>Sanctifiers>Goremongers>Kommandos>Wrecka crew
>>95868180Sold out? they are not supposed to be online yet right?
>>9586818040koids and GW releasing something ever week so they have no where near enough production capacity to meet demand
>>95868289Preorders in Australia go up about 4 hours ago
>According to Aussie pricing, Typhon pricetag is the same as for Combat Patrol boxes
It's still overpriced compared with almost any other company but for GW it's almost cheap.
>>95868298Really? Didn't know that. Well sorry for you then, i still hope i get mine in two houres and maybe you can get yours that way as well.
>>95868383The normal or the more expensive combat patrole ones?
>>95868383So it's more expensive than previous KT boxes
>>95868459Is it now? Blood and Zeal was about 105EUR in my country while all the Combat Patrol boxes are usually 85-95EUR depending on for how long they are collecting the dust already.
Okay, me and my buddy are new player but want to make sure: when a unit has a strategic gambit on their data card, that means you activate it like a strategic ploy in that phase, but it doesn't cost any CP to do so, right?
>>95868569Right, as long as there is no mention of a cost, it is free.
>>95868577Nice, thank you anon. I really wish the core rule book was laid out better and more straightforward on some things. I feel like I am often lost looking for info in it that will be in like two entirely different places
>>95868600Yea sometimes it is strange. It would help if they had a more complex index like in previous 40k rulebooks with noteworthy keywords.
>>95868180I found a reputable store online in Canada that still has Typhon boxes. Just ordered mine 10 minutes ago.
>>95868383They had to up the price because you get a sprue of Hormagaunts, please understand
>>95868464It's 170USD, Blood and Zeal was 130USD
>>95868464Blood and Zeal was/is around 90 (with discount applied ofc) i believe.
Its still available for 94 here for example:
https://www.miniaturicum.de/Kill-Team-Blood-Zeal-DEUTSCH
I just ordered Typhon for 104โฌ from a different german store, which is not too bad, considering it includes a lot more (and better imo) terrain.
>>95868715Just ordered mine but man the count goes down fast, not even a minute after going on over 50 copies where already sold (by just that one shop and he had around 200 copies to begin with).

Unsurprisingly didn't last long on EU stores either
>>95868732There are still many that have the box (all three i am looking at at least).
>>95868728Yes, i noticed it too. Kutami shows how many were available and they also had 200 i believe, and now its already down to 150-ish, after 10 minutes.
But i think some smaller online stores will have a few boxes available even after release, similar to the Blood and Zeal i linked above.
>>95868739yea i als notced the count going up by two at some point. some will cancel their orders and in the end the store may receive more boxes than known they got a guarantee for.
>>95868732Luckily I only want Nids so I will simply grab them on the secondary market for 40 eurobucks in 2 weeks.
>>95868732Pretty much every german online store still has it available. Here are 4, maybe on of them has good shipping rates to your country:
https://www.kutami.de/Warhammer-Kill-Team-Typhon-englisch
https://taschengelddieb.de/kill-team-typhon-englisch
https://games-island.eu/Kill-Team-Typhon-Englisch
https://www.radaddel.de/detail/index/sArticle/21334
>>95868747Its one of the rare times i like both teams AND the terrain enough to bother with the pre-order.
Nids are great, and servitors are awesome too.
>>95868749fantasywelt completly out of order right now, when they come back on they probably have some as well.
>>95868770Their site was down before, so i did not bother to double-check. Seemed kinda weird that their store goes down, considering its one of the biggest ones. Usually its Taschengelddieb that is KO during high demand sales.
>>95868753I like Servitors as well but I'm already working on DG and AoD. My gf is getting Mandrakes soon and I will have to help her with them as well. I can barely justify getting Nids at this point but fuck me if I don't like elite teams, they are usually great hobby projects.
>>95868784Who knows, some joksters ddosing them or something.
>>95868180>get a notification that Typhon is up for preorder>go to GW website>already sold outEh, it was to be released at the start of my vacation anyway, so I would not have been there to pick it up anyway.
>>95868857>>go to GW websiteThats a you-issue.
Former 40kfag here, I heard that this game's pretty good. I've been thinking about dipping my toes in Kill Team.
>Do the box sets come with everything you need?
>I heard that this community is full of WAACfags, is this true?
>Is there any list customisation or do you just take what's in a box?
>>95869018do they come with everything you need: this is still the same company so take a guess (most teams are playable but not optimal with one box, the rules for the teams are free online but like always rulebook terrain measuring devices n stuff is only in the starterbox if at all)
waacfags, kinda, we have a lot but there are also lots of chill guys,
there is minimal customization for most teams, some a bit more some have non at all.
>>95869018Download the books first, to glance over the rules.
>everything you needMost of them do. Some require a 2nd box to give you all the options. Also there are cards for each faction that are not included in single boxes.
>WAACfagsDepends on where you are. Here KT players are pretty chill, but maybe the store next city already has the most sweaty guys playing there. In general, its a pretty competitive game, but it totally depends. If you played 40k, you probably know the players in your area already anyway.
>list customisationThere is, to some degree. Look over the rules for the factions you find interesting to see more.
>>95869114Do people actually buy those cards? I just print off the rules myself
>>95869197Yes, because its convenient.
>>95869225Power to them I guess. Personally I find it more convenient to print out a few pieces of paper with the rules written on them.
>>95868180Never preordered anything gw and in my country there's a single shop with it listed. Wonder if I'll get it or they'll just say "sorry we didnt get it actually lol"
>>95869197They're useful to have but I wouldn't pay extra for them plus most KT24 cards are already out of date
>>95869259Thats fair, but desu, nice cardboard cards feel very good in your hand, generally speaking.
GWs cards are very expensive, that ofc is no surprise, but they are quite good quality and well made (compared to some stuff you get from boardgames for example).
Would it be possible to do them like that yourself: For sure. But it would require more than just printing on regular paper. (which is what i usually do myself for teams).
I have some of the official cards from Nightmare, Hivestorm and Blood and Zeal, because in the big sets they were included, and i bought that set for Blooded together with the Typhon set (see pic above), because Blooded are my most played team currently, and also because they were on a lower than usual discount.
>>95815654How are you this dumb? I'm not even going to answer it.
>>95868180GW spends too many resources making AOS stuff for their employees to toss in the trash later. If they just canceled AOS, most of their supply issues would be gone.
It's frustrating; It seems like most of the AOS stuff just goes in the dumpster, meanwhile Howling Banshees and Dire Avengers have been sold out for months.
People think I'm full of it, but about 80% of AOS stuff goes into the dumpster, unopened. That's what's causing the supply issues.
Pic related. These pieces of shit will be in a landfill for 10,000 years.
>>95869413>>95869259Buying GW's cards and even books always feels like a terrible idea considering that they are getting multiple erratas within a few months or even weeks. Most of their codices should get an updated reprint within the same edition.
>>95870202Not only that but so far both of the softcover rulebooks I got from gw are falling apart, one of them is only a few months old.
>>95870259My hardcover Blood Bowl rulebook was already falling apart after the first use. I have fullart Black Templar and Dark Angels codices from their respective army boxes and they are okay but I'm hesitant about even touching them at this point.
>>95870259>>95870367what are you guys doing with them? the only book of mine that falls apart is the rulebook from 4th edition and the deldar and necron codex from the same time. all my other books are at least okay even after month of use.
>>95870386>what are you guys doing with them?Nothing, they were all awful out of the box already. GW's Chinese subcontractor simply sucks ass, that's it.
>>95870403My hivestorm books are still in good condition and i have many books from last edition that still hold up nicely despite using them soooo is it a question of quality control that only some are shit?
>>95870428Perhaps GW has a few different suppliers so the quality varies? I have seen multiple people complaining about the quality of books and non-plastic components in general so I don't think it's extremely unusual.
>actually got the Typhon box set
>think about it and no longer want it
>>95870641Just sell it, from the look of it there wasnt a lot stock.
>>95870202>multiple erratashardly anyone in my gaming group cares.
>>95870386Open it? Not even laying it out flat on the table. The glueing to the spine is just ass.
>>95870919>based GW making it easier for people to scan and upload for the masses
Typhon dossier has a section for PvPvE too
>>95871252Yes that was mentioned in the last article. Seems like all missions in the box (pve and pvp) use NPO's.
Does the boxset come out next week or in two weeks?
>>9587133514 days preorder. so in two weeks.
How easy would you say the new terrain is to print out on fdm? Did not want 2 teams, but even buying the terrain from someone seems like a waste for just having "random spike" and "tree stump but alien"
>>95871528Most of it should be damn easy and even the hardest parts should be simple but require a bit more cleanup.
>>95871499Alright, thank you anon
>a bunch of batreps from (((sponsored))) tubers already out
>in all of them raveners win
sus
>>95871678Is the question: on purpose? raveners easier to learn and handle? battleclade just bad against elites (or them in particular)? or are they simply to strong?
>>95871678>elite teams dominating the meta>hyper elite 5 man team consistently beating normal 10 man teamIt sure is a mysteryโฆ
>>95871528This may be of interest
>>95685146
>>95871678>team that can absorb potentially a lot of damage before losing anything of importance and that has some heinous tricks it can pull if the opponent hasn't learned how to counter those tricks>vs a team with movement weakness that needs to extract subtle advantages out of a resource shuffling system to use more intricate strategies that no one has had to work with beforeSeems pretty reasonable to me that raveners would be the team that is favoured when neither side has much experience with their team, the team is more about picking as good an option as possible out of a wide variety of good options while servitors are more limited.
>>95869018If you have someone really uptight about WYSIWYG, you might want to magnetize your models for some weapon swapouts. I've come across some waacfags, but for the most part KT also brings some pretty decent dudes to the table. "Everything you need" is pretty dependent on the team you're playing. For my Plague Marines, I just assembled a box and rolled with it. For Hunter Clade, I had to mix and match a couple of boxes of Skitarii so I could have both rangers and vanguard, and also toss in a box of Sicarians for making elite teams a lot less of a threat.
Now that i have seen some battlereports, both teams look really fun. The tunnel system seems quite strange making the team super dependent on the area the tunnel is what is quite bad for a melee team with low operative count not being able to spread out. still seem strong.
Any idea for alternative heads for the ravener prime? i hate that fin.
>>95875218Just use any spare and paint the crest in a different colour.
>>95875244That is plan B.
Does anyone know what base size the new raveners are and what base size the old red terror model has?
