His dour facial expression can simply be the lack of emotion of a "badass" Drow, his implicit rejection of Lolth is made unclear by his explicit acceptance of the sacrifice, and I assumed him drawing attention to the child while minimizing its sacrifice was the author's intention to draw the attention of readers to how evil drows are transposed to a random character he bad under his hand, even if it doesn't fit.

I considered sarcasm but sarcasm wouldn't hit a moral blindspot, it should fly over the head of Bryza who would unironically agree and not even see how a newborn boy would be more important than the ambitions of her House.
