I’m not going to go out of my way to buy this spearhead but if it’s part of the spearhead magazine that mimics the combat patrol for 40K I wouldn’t mind. The combat patrol came out in 9th (I think?) so its probably older than 4 years old. When I mean the boarding patrol I mean that one other skirmish game mode where the terrain cost like $200+ to play the game mode in. Ah, but that did come out in 2023 so yeah that one is like, 2-3 years old now.

Kek, reminds me of a few years ago when he got the contents of a necron combat patrol leaked to him, but he assumed it was for admech based on the names of the units. Warhammer is this guy's full time job, arguably his whole life revolves around it. But if it isn't spacemarines this guy is still an absolute lorelet. I don't even play 40k but just through general hobby osmosis I know skorpekh or whatever are a necron thing. Seems he was also too stupid to do a basic double check before putting out a video about it, but that's a whole other thing.

He's the prototypical representation of a marinepiggy. If it's not marines it may as well not exist to them, like we see in the 'skaven are not really chaos example'. Honestly in a way you have to respect the effort that it must take to be so single mindedly focused on one faction to not even be tangentially aware of what others are up to. Because the unit does 9 attacks total? The 4+ save is pretty good when it's also got 9 wounds across three models. Spearhead is a completely different gamemode with a different balance to it, so comparing the unit to an oldblood doesn't make sense even if it was 3 attacks only.

Do you want this slimmed down gamemode to have 5 attacks on specifically the sunblood and then 2 attacks on the bodyguard saurus using identical weapon profiles, to make the total 9? What are you complaining about

I think the model being a squad of three makes the balancing a bit awkward, sunblood is also clearly more of a defensive tank type saurus, but it still has only 2 health like it's bodyguards, and 3 less than the oldblood. But giving him his proper offensive + defensive stats would probably be a bit too much for spearhead and make it more complicated and unwieldy than they want the beginner friendly box to be. Maybe they'll adjust the rules when it comes out for Bigmar, we'll see.

Sidenote but god the model itself is gorgeous, might be my favourite in the entire game. Talking about the sunblood here, the two saurus are just kind of there. I get that it's necessary for underworlds but they could've atleast made them a bit more distinct from normal saurus. Their shields have little nubs on them and that's pretty much it. Maybe they should've made them saurus guard instead, and test out two designs for their inevitable refresh ?

There any good stories/books that involve tzeentch in Aos? I kinda don’t want to be defaulted to city of secrets.

they design in brackets based off unit type and base size, it's extremely common for foot heroes to do 3+/3+ with -1 rend and 2 damage. It's probably the most common statline in the game. To me I think better flavor would be something like 4/2 /-1/3 with reroll 1 to wound for "monstrous" infantry heroes. They really fucked flavor by not utilizing rerolls more, there's only so much you can do with d6's and modifiers. By the time something big hits you, the wound roll should be a lot more reliable.

3rd party with a bunch of stuff added on. I’ve got some chaos bits coming in the mail eventually which will include some spikes meant for terrain. The spikes will be ending up on the idols back. Speaking of fel orcs I tried to paint this russian wh+ exclusive megaboss in the colors of the red orcs from Hellfire peninsula

It was a bit tricky translating the color palette cause their armor types are so differetnt but I tried. i especially like the red and brown paints pairing.

I remember for a while it was monster mash and the daemon characters were pretty neglected (minus the GUO)

Now iirc the GUO is a bit overtuned and people were saying that Fly spam is is strong with the battle formation/rule that lets you drop them in from the sides. Are blightkings worth taking more than 10 of? Is glottkin still a staple? how about the mortal characters like Gutrot spume and the lords of blight and plagues? are plaguebearers viable as anything besides screens?

I'm also curious about the rotmire creed. they have a really neat rule that lets you use disease points on units out of the normal range

It's based on kits, not unit count. Deathrattle was 2 infantry kits, one Cav kit, one character. Gitmob was 2x Cav, 1x Chariot kit, one character.

10 Infantry, One artillery, One Dread thing, One character would be the usual three kits+1 character.

It's just facts, anon. Look at literally every army box released in the last several years. The STD Army box was 2x Chosen, 1xOgroid, 1 Demon Prince for a grand total of 14 models. The Seraphon Army box was 1x Saurus, 2x Skink Cav, 1x Slaan. The LRL Army Box was 2x Spearmen, 1x Cav, Eltharion.

It is literally a set pattern. The only variation is in how expensive the individual kits are, otherwise GW does not deviate from their formula.

Gitmob prices are just baffling, even now with other new releases out they still don't make any sense. $90 for two tiny ass goblin chariots or $100 for a barely bigger hero chariot. $60ish for 3 wolf riders that do nothing in game.

I've seen some people speculate that gitmob were meant to replace spiderfang (hence specific mentions to poison fangs etc) since they serve a similar niche within the larger gitz army, but they decided against the idea pretty last minute leaving them to scramble to try (and fail) to come up with a new purpose for gitmob rules-wise

maybe 10 years ago that was nessecary when the only other options were vallejo "only the basics" and army painter non fanatic shitpaints, but nowadays you have so many options that can match citadel color for color, exceed citadel for quality, and come in dropper bottles with mixing balls at a lower price.

i really dont understand people still willingly buying citadel paints, especially after the former product designer responsible for the current pots came out and said "yeah we knew they were defective but it was too expensive to recall or change them"

the only ones i would excuse are some of the bright mono pigment contrasts like magmadroth flame and imperial fist because those have been pretty unrivaled by competing brands so far in terms of saturation and coverage for extremely difficult colors.

if you let it dry and then loosen the cap with the dried paint still on there, you can pop it off with your thumbnail like a little button. always comes off in 1 solid little flake. you eventually end up with dozens of little cap flakes you need to shake into the trash but i'll take that over bottle clogs any day.

proacryl has replaced 90% of my other paints, especially since the artist series has come in with like vince and ninjons designer paints and filled in a lot of the gaps in the range.

also pro tip: ninjons signature warm brown is pretty much a 1 to 1 recreation of mournfang brown, just slightly richer and with better paint consistency. amazing if you just need a good all purpose dark brown

The list was (If I remember correctly) 2 (or 3) reinforced spear snakes, 1 reinforced archer snakes, the horse guys that were just a meat shield stretched long, Morathi, and lieutenant snake.

rules question that probs is answered in the book but

if i target a unit with the new bonereapers +1 attack spell, then my opponent takes priority, can i magical intervention to cast the same spell and target the same unit that has benefited from the +1 attack in my last turn? effectively stacking the spell twice. As the spell does last until the start of next turn.

I don't think anyone is complaining about how the core rules are written. It's the cleanest writing we have ever seen in a mainline GW game. Just by clearing setting the order of when rules happen in a turn (active player first, then other player) they cleared up so much.
However, seemingly as a trade off, they completely removed flavor. It's mind boggling.
They FINALLY wrote a core rule engine that could HANDLE all the wacky bullshit from the previous editions, and they promptly wrote shit as boring as possible.
