>>95848059Well its time to christen this MP with a prompt, and might as well make it useful too.
>What is your build's Power Classification/Threat Rating?https://worm.fandom.com/wiki/Power_Classifications
Note that a higher threat rating doesn't necessarily mean that they are stronger than a lower threat level, nor that more points invested into abilities automatically garners a higher rating either. It only denotes the type of response the PRT needs to consider when dealing with the threat at hand.
>ex. A cape with Sound Control may have a higher threat rating then one with Temporal Bubble due to the wider range and ability to prevent verbal communication to make coordination more difficult on top of their existing offensive abilities. General advice is to start at the lower levels and think over if its enough to contain your build before moving up, and to remember that you get a rating in each category of powers you've taken, so avoid putting the strength of your entire powerset together and consider the strength of your build using the aspects of just one category at a time.

- An army veteran who had trouble finding a job on leaving the military, and ended up being hired as a janitor at Medhall Pharmaceuticals.
One home-invasion-induced trigger event later and he caught the attention of his new employer.
He was inducted into the Empire 88 and served as a hit-man for several years, specialising in lawnmowering his way through legions of unpowered gang mooks.
His powers make him phenominally leathal with a firearm, but even with nothing more than an improvised thrown weapon he is fully capable of killing multiple assailants with one hand tied behind his back.

>>95848116Included it in my sheet already, but he's a Changer 6, Shaker 5, Striker/Mover 4. Shaker should probably be higher due to making a big chunk of the city a death sentence to sleep in, but whatever. Disney probably cares more than the PRT, since if he gets close to the park they might have to shut down until he leaves.
>>95848059I forgor that villains get an extra point per drawback. Ill have to redo my build later.
>>95848400I'm just a little astounded because the run just began and he's already shitting these out. It's all dumps for existing factions too which don't even make much sense to be so far from their mainline counterparts. Like is Faultline and her crew also stuck in the zone or this guy just managed to somehow get left behind despite the fact he's physically strong as shit, cause the crew in total is like less then a dozen people. And while there at least there is one other Empire 88 build, this means he's 2/3 builds in the faction right now. I don't understand why he doubled up when he already had a foot in it already. I guess he just wanted to make sure he was able to outshine the one other guy's role as a frontline soldier?

>>95848493The more I think about it the more baffled I am too. Like did he really need to port a build over when he's already got two out, I don't even understand why he took the failed birdcage scenario reuse as an obligation to push out a third build. Most factions don't even have another person yet, and he's technically already started the trend of Faultline's Crew being a thing so he's essentially the leader of whatever sect is stuck in here, and now he's also the majority of E88. I know he's got a habit of doing this but at least he writes for them, or at least thats what I used to think, but right now there's literally nothing. I mean I know we've already got a bunch of dumps but at least I don't know those (or can't recognize) that they all came from the same person.

When she passed away from diabetes he underwent a trigger event, instantly turning into what many would call a perfect human specimen; tall, handsome, supremely athletic and possessed of a genius mind with near-superhuman willpower. It took less than a year for him to start up 'Financial Genesis Multinational', a multi-billion-dollar financial company.
Unfortunately for him, he got a little too greedy and a little too cocky, and his efforts to usurp governement for his own ends reulted in his identity being revealed to the general public by a team of vigilantes. Taking his emergency funds he fled to the Disney Free Economic Zone, where he offers his financial services to anyone who whants to pay for them.

Silk awoke within the city with no memories. She asked a passerby what her name was and they assumed she was retarded and told her to check the tag on her shirt. She decided her name must be 100% Silk. She has since relearned a lot about how things work in the world...And doesn't agree with the cruelty of it all.
She's no hero, infact the very existence of this lawless place means the heroes can hardly be called that. But she'll do her best to protect the civillians stuck in this place. In particular from the biggest threat she feels on the horizon...Ever approaching. Her family hungers for this place like sharks smelling blood on the water. Hopefully she'll be able to stop them.
Defender seems to posess a lot of powers and extremely high tech equipment from stealth-armor to rifles and blades to gadgets of all types. The threat of their existence keeps the random civillian casualties down to an extent, as many a petty thug has found his head popped by a high caliber sniper round in the middle of having fun stabbing someone.

It's pretty good! I like how Lennox is portrayed here, his personality is pretty unwavering. It's actually pretty interesting-- he manages to keep himself pretty monotone and characteristically concerning while still bouncing off of Minagi and Fluffy pretty well. I think that's sort of hard to achieve with a character like Lennox, and I have to commend you for it.
It's also pretty commendable that you managed to throw character reactions in there, too, that seemed very on-brand. Tony's leering, Minagi's stiff greetings, Olympia's motherly upset, it all goes together very well and tells the audience plenty about Lennox's reputation. Good job!

In her own world Freya was a college student who had unmasked countless capes who had broken the unspoken rules and blackmailed far more. She had to flee after the list of enemies started to get so long that not even the threat of being revealed was enough to dissuade them. She activated the Nuclear Option and revealed everyone - Fleeing to another Earth in the process. At first she died dozens of times as she tried to adapt to the more cut-throat city she found herself in but her skills made finding work quite easy...Infact she found herself in a quarantine zone full of less than savory people who would gladly pay for their enemies to drop dead no questions asked.
She has taken out some high profile targets and the little bit of heat that followed her from her own Earth combined with the fact she's in the Exclusion Zone means she isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Forcing her to take a sort of mercenary existence working with whoever pays best while she oncemore brings her Blog to life... The Truth is Out There.
Chances are anyone with their identity ruined simply crossed her and she wrote an exposรฉ about them.

Officially, she doesnโt exist. Valerie was scrubbed from records before she ever crossed the quarantine perimeter. A covert Cauldron asset, embedded with a quiet directive: disrupt the balance.
Inside the zone, things had gone still. Not safe, never safe, but predictable. Warlords ruled sections of the dead city with violent but measured hands, their uneasy truce holding just enough to slow the chaos. But Cauldron wanted chaos. The formation of power blocs wasnโt part of the long game. And at the center of that fragile order there's a blindspot, possibly the true power behind the zoneโs equilibrium. There's rumors about how the most influential villains in the zone have met said blindspot.
Valerieโs mission is to find it and destabilize everything around it. The best way to do that? Become a name. A warlord herself. Gain influence, shake the tree, and see what falls out.
Sheโs good at her job. Focused. Cold when she needs to be. But also inexperienced , so there's a small, unwelcome thought gnawing at her mind, doubts regarding her mission as an agent of disruption. Even if she understands it's for the greater good, going against peace doesn't sit completely right with her.
Also, while her power is indeed strong, she's easily plagued by debilitating thinker headaches if she uses it too much, something that could prove fatal in the zone.
Halfway through that writefag. Thanks to that anon for the hypothesis suggestion.
>>95848493>>95848548MAybe I should re-assign the factions they belong to? I didn't realise we wern't in Brockton Bay at first. You're right that it doesn't make sense for Faultine's crew to be in whatever city we're in (Orlando Florida, is it?), so I guess that Dreadnaught would be part of some other group.
E88 was supposed to be more of a nation-wide organisation, though, (or at least part of one, I think?) so it's more probable to see them in the D.E.F.Z..
Also, I just like making builds.

>>95846106>What exactly do you want to write with her?I tried to lean into Cauldron having a hand in things with the mysterious client stuff, so I imagined I'd be writing some stuff to do with that like trying to figure out what their motive is or getting an order she's reluctant to follow through on which puts whatever benefits she's been receiving in jeopardy. Things like her family being used as hostages by someone was also in mind. More personally, becoming more of a control freak as her mental state and the situation degrades, and becoming more aggressive in expanding her influence across the city to keep things running how she wants them to. On the other end of things, there's her trying to enjoy a normal life.
>What sort of themes are you trying to explore with all the elements you've added in?It's hard to put it to words which I guess is part of the problem, but I deception, manipulation, and to some extent maybe self-destruction and corruption come to mind.
>what exactly does she want to do in her perspective? Her primary motivation is maintaining a comfortable life and in the current situation that means tight control of her surroundings. For to-do list, it's be expanding territory, putting down the hero rebellion, and figuring out what machine she's become a cog in.
I have a fun idea for a general build but I'm not sure if I'm wasting it on worm.

Powers: ST Enthrallment, Surgery, ST United We Stand, ST Fearmonger (Love), ST Psychoactive Body, ST Power Refinement, ST Innocence
Desc:
Lanna was your stereotypical popular bitch. All the teachers would take her side instead of yours, and every adult seemed to treat her with more respect than she deserves. Her grades weree suspiciously high from a combination of people doing her homewok for her and the teachers liking her so much. Infact very few people have anything mean to say about her in public.
In other words she was the closest thing to a villain in the normal world. Then she got her powers during a frat party that got a little too horror movie for her liking and suddenly everything was so much better. Everyone loves her and wants to do whatever they can to make her happy. It would have been her perfect meteoric ascension if she hadn't been shunted through a portal by Cauldron and discarded here in this backwater irrelevent reality.
>>95849346She quickly decided not to bother with trying to live a normal life and instead got involved in full time villainy and ultimately became a supervillain - Joining up with the local Slaughterhouse equivalent under her moniker Queen Anne and before long with her help they had taken over an entire city so thoroughly that the entire place was declared a quarantine zone. Nobody visits willingly and damn sure nobody ever leaves. Suddenly her power is once again letting her live the perfect life - This time with a crown atop her head.
She has taken over the theatre district and has 'Guards' that patrol the place and everything. Providing a sort of bastardized safety to those who pay her tribute. Getting invited to her parties or even better having her attend one of your parties is how you know you've truly made it in the city.
[Alraune]
A sickly sweet scent that clouds the mind and makes you protect your love.
Being around the Queen causes feelings of love to take hold in even the coldest hearts, but only prolonged exposure can render one unable to see her done harm. The more of her lovers that surround her, the more powerful she is and Injuries dealt to her are instead absorbed by her willing meatshields.
Meeting her gaze, physical contact, and whispered words can all cause you to fall deeper under her spell. You must exercise great caution lest you forget she was your enemy to begin with and gladly bare your weakpoints for her to strike.
You cannot build up a resistance to the effects, but various things can make the effects slower. The most obvious being not finding her sexually/romantically attractive to begin with, or having a clear mind or strong morals. And as long as you stay away from her for a while you can clear your mind of her influence... Those that are farthest gone however may take days or even weeks away from her to break from the bond.

However that doesn't mean he doesn't notice them, he just willingly pretends they are not there, and to convey that I tried to put in those reactions so the reader knows too. Good to know it worked.

Its cute how eager they are, but its throwing off my sleep schedule (I usually wake up right as a new thread drops) and leading to some builds getting left behind in the haste.

I've been gone for about a month and some change. Anything I need to know other than the start of HP and a new Worm?
>>95850219I was trying to avoid WDE this time, guess I can't avoid being a point whore
>>95848116I'd put Paradox in his earlier career not as a Breaker but more of a Stranger/Striker with some dashes of Brute and Master.
>[Brute 3] When he gets hit, the injury vanishes and gives the impression he's healed it off Alabaster style>[Master 4] Can create one clone of himself that can act independently.>[Stranger/Striker 4] Upon touching a target, it makes them live through a possible future via precognition.Outwardly his abilities look pretty simple, and since he hadn't really expressed the full extent of what he could do a higher threat wasn't established. Even though he always talked about moving through time, it was taken with a grain of salt with his addled mental state. From an outside perspective, he never went anywhere and just summons a clone to help him, due to how changing timelines to give him an advantage means the ones he leaves don't exist anymore for one continuous successful line of events. He also wasn't acting as much of a main player himself and preferred to be an instigator, only after repeatedly causing larger and larger events with the resulting chaos necessitating further investigation did it become clear what his full capabilities were, especially since at this point he'd no longer see a reason to sit backstage and not become as he puts it, a "main actor". His proper ratings would be
>[Breaker 9] Able to pull an alternate self through time, alongside with reducing any injuries or power effects to nothing by delaying it to another point in time. Also capable of delaying his own actions on the environment or others up to a month. Both the original and alternate are capable of the same abilities, needing both to be contained at the same time.>[Striker 7] Touching someone else allows him to pull a future version of them to mentally and physically replace them, used as a method to gather information about events that hasn't happened yet or to push people to their predetermined moment of death at a touch.
>>95850351what a faggot ass character
>>95850351Speakin of which, completely didn't forgot that Lag Switch ST can effectively act as Full Stop, so I'm probably going to redo the build by going back for Drop-In as its more reflective for what he is and because its more sweet, sweet points. Been throwing around the idea of Dormancy ST for further perceptive disconnection and to allow him to instantly kill himself to remerge with a clone.
>>95850383Guess who's going to get groomed into becoming gay lovers in an alternate future. Remember to lock your doors.
>>95850418>completely didn't forgotWay to butcher it there, me from 2 minutes ago. "Completely forgot", I just mashed it together with the incomplete statement of "didn't know" which I dropped.
>>95849173So from what I understand, you want to make someone who wants to live a normal life, but both internal and external factors force her to be a part of the villain politics, is that right? She's already too immersed in crime escape and it's only going to get worse since she doesn't have, or doesn't know how to control the situation other than carving out a place for herself and her family?
I guess another question would be how she fits in this narrative, or how she's going to interact with other builds? She's going to butt heads with rival gangs, and Cauldron's going to keep an eye on her, so what about builds outside that circle?
>>95850418what a faggot ass anon

Founder of a budding supervillain guild with a nationwide reach.
The thief who once stole the Declaration of Independence.
Angra Mainyu is a certified legend; Hopeman's foremost enemy, the unstoppable force to his immovable object, the biggest advocate for supervillainy on Earth. She was the one who resurrected the 80's style of diabolical plans, outlandish suits and a fierce competition to be the best without descending into plain debauchery like the Slaughterhouse types love doing. She's the one responsible for turning the city into what it is today, having played into the hands of the conspiracy that sought to discard her once her services became unnecessary. But she managed to outwit them all.
Angra seeks to take over the city and find successors to her chaotic ideologyโ working towards a world without Hope, where chaos and personal strength reign supreme. She must hurry, as Hopeman is slowly dying, and she will be unable to continue her business in good taste unless she faces him in a final showdown worthy of legends. After he's dead, she can focus on world domination.
Her power enables her to copy powers with ease and gain immunity to their effects upon assault, but with some caveats. Namely, she can only use one of them at a time; they have a time limit of 10 minutes, after which she forcibly switches to another power, and her immunities only last a couple of hours at most.
Whats one cyoa that never really got a chance?

Harbinger Arena when?
Each year can be an update
>>95850538When they stop being so bitter.
The arena agenda is strong...but Worm is stronger!
>>95850765The arena agenda is weaker than the overlord agenda.
>>95850752I think it'd go a little bit too fast. 10 turns from start to finish means we're blitzing through important events, and making a blunder could mean you're entirely screwed for the next year too leading to 2 years which are negative. At the very least I think it'd require splitting each year into 2 parts, one half preparation the other half execution. Otherwise it'd be like WGW but every single turn a new world event was created which makes it extremely difficult to catch a breath.
>>95850765Arenas need game masters to run. No one wants to go through that shit again only to get shouted at when something doesn't go someone's way even if that's kinda the point of an arena and a gm.

>>95851075Yes, but there's also one specific anon who comes out of the woodwork to loudly declare how awful it is whenever it comes up to counter balance that.
>>95850698It wasn't an arena.
>>95851074Why would you want to make a stranger when it makes it less likely for other builds to encounter yours?
>>95851019Fiends and Fire
guildslop with vampires and werewolves and all sorts of shit trying to kill humanity. Lower end of power.
>>95851097So he can safely get close to more volatile builds an tickle them =]
>>95851074Really underestimating what a pain in the ass a competent Stranger is. Fresh Identity basically means you round the corner and no one will be able to put together that you are the villain who just robbed the bank. Granted, they can still be on guard if you're a known Stranger and be more wary towards people near in the area, and it won't stop them from questioning why you're holding a giant bag of cash and arresting you for being an accomplice for robbing the bank. That's just one power for cheap though, getting more makes it even more difficult.
>>95851112That doesn't really have anything to with the powers being bad and boring. He said "good" not strong.
>>95851091It's not the same anon. Even if it were, contrarianism and negativity is what modern 4chan has become. Just do shit because nothing is going to fit everyone's taste perfectly.
>>95851061probably, but I always end up liking my builds for it even if I know they're mid to everyone else
>>95851112Fair. Fresh Identity is pretty much the best in the whole set and it only costs 3 points is more what I'm driving at. I guess Fake Death and Innocence are decent too, but they also cost basically nothing and totally outperform far more expensive powers, though the latter would be pretty boring to write about. There's just not a lot of interesting flavor to work with in Stranger.
>>95851112Brianna made me realize how strong Fake Death is desu.
>>95851130I wouldn't call it contrarianism. I always got the impression that the general viewed The City the same way they view MHA, as a poor setting that can still be shaped into something fun with a little effort.
>>95848440short but sweet
>>95851126To me its one and the same. A good Stranger is literally any of the Stranger effects. Nice Guy was an insane threat and all he had was a buffed version of Innocence that didn't break when he caused harm. Most of the Stranger powers might not be combat focused but they are so much more useful in dealing with people in general. Bluff alone will open doors you'd never think possible if a faction isn't using Stranger protocols.
>>95851145Really depends on what angle you want. I know Cloak ST has been used with insane synergy in conjunction with Masquerade ST as that gets rid of its one weakness. Recordless hard counters any Tinkers who don't have something like Radar ST to detect you. A pure Stranger can be done in many different ways, but most times a cape isn't just a Stranger alone and might have a power that has a Stranger effect.
Pulling something like Living Forest and Terra Incognita is something I think has been done before so you can be a labyrinth despite only reaching 1km in a radius. Off the top of my head for what I assume to be a unique combination is Crowd Blending and Damage Sharing so no one is able to pinpoint exactly who you are or how many real people are with you if you have the ST version. Once you experiment with different combos you'll quickly learn why Strangers are some of the most feared types alongside Masters as they don't fight direct or fair.
>>95851098Here's the cyoa https://imgchest.com/p/bp45dr32y5l
>>95851112Fake Death makes you able to convince people you died with like any attack then shoot them when they look away or whatever. Can just spam it too every time you get hit. ST is okay, would really throw people off in combat and generally synergizes well with other powers.
Recordless is a big deal since it makes it impossible for tinkers to get you remotely which is a big weakness for a lot of people - Tinker drone with a gun. Generally nice to have since you can't get doxxed easily with it active. Its ST is kinda lame though.
Who was Phone is pretty trash, even if it were a 1 cost. And its ST isn't much better.
Fresh Identity is strong as anon said, any time they lose track of you they basically treat you as a new person. Combine it with Death Fakery and people will never actually kill you. ST sounds weak but is deceptively overpowered since it prevents people from connecting them together just full stop, meaning your cape and normal identity cannot be connected nomatter what.
Crowd Blending is one of the worst 5 costs in the entire thing, it would work as a 1 cost but thats about it. Garbage and doesn't protect you in the slightest.
Terra Incognita was meta for a while for villain groups back in the day and for good reason. Can't show up to a bank robbery if you cant remember where the bank is. Also at ST you can basically make an entire 120 city blocks become confusing as hell so its a fun troll power.
Cloak I hardly need to mention, one of the strongest powers at ST and has been abused to its fullest in the past. It has some weaknesses but its the king of Jump-jutsu strats since so many people die just by a gun.
On the other side we have Bluff, a power thats like a 2 or 3 cost at best. Its not weak or anything but sure as hell not a 7 cost. Its ST is lackluster and in general its not very good except for a niche build like making a TV reporter who convinces everyone Nothing Ever Happens.
>>95851257Masquerade is vastly underrated, just get a picture book of the local capes and you can bring out any powerset you need at a moments notice and frame whoever you want for crimes. Rob a bank as a hero and nobody will be able to tell you apart. Change identities any time you want, not even a stipulation about not doing it infront of people.
Oblivion is pretty lackluster due to needing eyesight. For a 10 pointer is a bit sad. Not weak or anything but just not that varied in its use and ability. ST makes it just a 'I win' button.
Observer: I may not win but I sure as hell cant lose the power.
Gift of Gab is a nice stranger power, its ST is especially useful for combining with mind control and stuff, decent for a 1 cost and in situational builds.
Half Truth is just 6 point cheaper bluff.
Innocence is stupidly powerful for the same reasons as cloak, and its cheaper. You will initiate every combat you are in barring extreme psychopaths who would gladly kil la random civvie. At ST you can litearlly murder someones dog infront of them and go 'oh sorry' and they will forgive you.
Stealth meter is kinda bad but synergizes well with other stealthy abilities like cloak. In particular anyone who DOES see past your other stealth will quickly forget about you being there.
SSS is a joke power and doesn't really apply.
Observation Shift is expensive for what it does but can do some funny stuff with sight-based powers. That's about it though aside from making lil' golem dudes.
Forgery is a troll power, 4 cost is a lot and its only real tangible benefit is when made ST where you can completely redo entire documents and make yourself a saint to the police or set up a warrant for daves arrest or funny pictures combined with other powers like Graphic Design.
Sightspot is a tough one to justify taking as free points, but its really strong when upgraded for a single shard point into ST version. Making it impossible for people to really look at you. Maybe get into porn?
>>95851257>Cloak I hardly need to mention, one of the strongest powers at STIt's not even top 10, not counting 25 costers. Still good in 1v1s, but it's not soloing the setting like some STs can.
>>95851257>Who was Phone is pretty trash, even if it were a 1 cost. And its ST isn't much better. It is more niche, but keep in mind its super similar to Recordless in that it allows you to bypass security. If you were to knock out a PRT agent and take their radio, you'd be able to hear all their communication and respond to make sure they don't have any idea the original is down until they find his unconscious body. The ST is even better since unless there's anti-Stranger protocols you'll be able to access security systems way easier. Pair with the Hacking skill so if you do hit a wall you can a quick detour.
>Crowd Blending is one of the worst 5 costs in the entire thing. Garbage and doesn't protect you in the slightest.Depends on the location. In a urban location it'll be amazing since nothing says it has a duration, you just need 10 people around you. It'll also automatically minimize your presence so that you won't stand out. The defense it grants you is in the form of the crowd around you, how will they know who to pick? They might ask for physical identification, but they might also risk losing the cape who might not even be any of these people and is making their escape right as they waste time here.
>On the other side we have Bluff, a power thats like a 2 or 3 cost at best. Its not weak or anything but sure as hell not a 7 cost.I think you are vastly underestimating Bluff. People will believe ANYTHING you say. The only caveat is the duration. If you keep your Bluffs short and concise without getting complicated, you can get away with practically anything. Think of it like the speeches given after you get hit with a MiB neutralizer. Works best to get in and out of situations quick. Hell you could pull a "Oh my god here's the Sasquatch right behind you!" and it'd work, at least for a moment.
>>95851343Cloak is a force multiplier. It makes anything else you can do 10x stronger since you get the jump on them in perfect circumstances.
At ST they don't even know where they are being attacked from. But I'm biased cause I associate it with the Cloak + Stand user who basically just let the stand punch holes in people while being invisible nearby.
>>95851319>Oblivion is pretty lackluster due to needing eyesight. For a 10 pointer is a bit sad.I agree. If its vague enough to set specifications such as "Wipe the memory of the person reading on my PRT file" then its pretty good. If I actually need to know what day and hour they did it, it's pretty shit. I assume it could mean you can only delete information you know, so maybe you'd have to know what your PRT file says in the first place, but that's still very underwhelming for a 10 pointer, even more so for a Stranger ability since it doesn't activate automatically like some of the others nor has a large range of effect.
>Half Truth is just 6 point cheaper bluff.Half truth relies on the fact you need truth in your statement. If you say "Hey I'm a new hire and forgot my badge, can you open the door for me?", there won't be any truth in that statement if you're a villain looking to break in. Bluff would make that easily doable and because the bluff isn't particular outrageous you'd get it for a longer effect. It also isn't as vulnerable to contradictions either since that'd only shorten the duration of Bluff at worst while for Half Truth it might break it entirely.
>SSS is a joke power and doesn't really apply.Honestly I don't even know why its in Stranger since the ST makes it way more of a Changer ability.
>Forgery is a troll power, 4 cost is a lotFor a Rogue I think this ability could be insane as long as you don't draw suspicion by overusing it. How many documents can some bigshot manager remember signing off on? Its corporate embezzling at its finest. You aren't playing the parahuman game, you're playing the legal game.
>>95851393It's just invisibility. You can beat it with enhanced senses, thinker powers, normal anti-invis strategies, or just being paranoid. Even as a force multiplier there's usually going to be something more useful for any particular build, like Glimpse for long range or Counter for fighters.
Not saying it's bad, just that calling it one of the strongest ST's is insane.
>>95851450NTA but that implies you are on guard for it constantly. Not a single person in Worm has a Stranger protocol in place every single day except for Contessa or other Cauldron operatives. You mix in Invisibility with any other power and it can be way more of a beast. Sound Control alone could make you completely silent on top of what it already offers as an example. It's one of the strongest because you can live as an invisible man for the rest of your life, and everyone will have to look over their shoulder for the rest of theirs if they're that paranoid about being snuck up on. Powers that also require a target to be in line of sight such as Bullet Hell or Homing System couldn't pull off their moves.
The real question is if Invisibility only works on the visible light spectrum or all of them since something like X-Ray or even non tinker tech options would be able to see in the former's case. Hard to tell sometimes if its purely a mental effect on those who view you or an actual physical change. Some Stranger effects can still work on technology despite being a mental effect, like Mama Mathers, although her ability in particular doesn't work to trigger her power to someone who views the livestream and only just causes it to work on the camera itself.
>>95851534Obscure is a power though it would make you on guard probably it lets you knock out any two other senses aswell as the sight form cloak.
Reminder that the only way to counter Suzerain ST is to take recordless.
>>95851534Enhanced senses and thinker powers don't need you always on-guard, but sure, on the offensive, Invisibility + extra stealth powers + some sort of instant kill ability or a gun or something is pretty strong.
But like, there's a stronger version of complete stealth in canon in the form of Imp, and she's just Stranger 5. Most capes can be taken out with a gun, Imp with a Gun still isn't soloing the setting.
Invis + Instant Kill is a rocket tag build that kills you from surprise, which scares anons, but there are more effective rocket tag builds (X-Ray + Telekinesis ST as an example) and there's definitely ways to play around them.
>>95851586Cloak + Sting is the prime rocket tag but arguably performs worse than just Hyperspeed + Sting since that gives them as many rounds as they want without any chance whatosever of you seeing it coming.
Timetsop is silly like that.
>>95851061>>95851136that's a misconception from getting things confused between the cyoa's mechanics and the regular canon
>>95849935I'll probably write for them sooner or later, and the setting only benefits from being well-populated, so why not post them?

>>95851635Osterd rapes any possible build btw
>>95851568Mix together Sound Control for complete silence, Obscure for Smell and Taste, Cloak for Sight, and Lag Switch for the ultimate sensory clusterfuck.
>>95851586I was referring mostly to the paranoid part you mentioned. Also we tend to get way shittier versions of powers other characters have. Personal Forcefield is one of Glory Girl's main powers but its cooldown is massive compared to the original version's.
I personally think it works better not as a pure offense focusing as an instant kill build, but defensively since being difficult to perceive makes you much harder to land a hit against you. I don't personally just consider powers in a pure fighting context, being able to avoid fights entirely can also make a power incredible.
>>95849826sorry anon, Iโll do better
>>95851740Too late, eternal Suzerain victim.
>>95851600I'd say Suzerain ST is the most bullshit "randomly lose from out of nowhere" ability since you just need to see somebody's picture once and it's over, but yeah Sting is the poster child for jumping. I prefer Sting ST + Glimpse to reroll long range snipes until it lands but that's just me.
>>95851688The problem is that there's a thousand different threats that you need to be paranoically worried about, some of which would be way harder to deal with. Lawmaker ST just needs to be in earshot and you get mastered down and lose with a couple of words. Exchange plus a weak follower can instantly make you a jobber in eyeshot range. Insomnia makes not taking Noctis a free coma ticket. You can make bombs and teleport them onto people with Remote Transfer. It's worm, losing the information game kills you if you're not stupid OP.
Invisibility doesn't add nearly enough to be considered a top 10 ST. It's "good" but there are STs that can fuck up entire cities (or the world), take over factions, or generally win the setting alone. The only way it's Top 10 is if you focus only on situations where it's good, while ignoring powers that are more efficient, have broader utility, able to get the same results while being safer, etc.
As good as invisibility is, it's just not as amazing as some other powers, whether they're on their own or in combos.
>>95851659Oh, so in the canon all melee fighters are actually punch wizards, but mechanically we can focus on the melee tree we want without having to double dip into mage? Good to know, I find the customization for that cyoa to be interesting.
>>95851813it's a nice cyoa but the author doesn't really get the canon and it causes a bunch of confusion like this

Once the premiere supervillain who lurked in the shadows and made sure nobody nomatter how well armed would walk down alleyways at night. Something in her changed one night and she became...A disgusting hero. Or atleast as close as this place has to one. Now going by Warden, Nikke fights with the other capes in the city who go too far or try to breach the exclusion zone. Acting as her namesake and keeping the 'evil' contained. She even seems to have some minor PRT support at times.
Warden has become one of the symbols of the resistance and a bastion of hope in this decaying city alongside the few remaining capes who would fight for justice and the american way. She seems to have picked up some new powers here and there which has made her quite the bruiser, not to mention her impressive mental resistances!
She has made new friends among the resistance and seems to have really obtained a new lease on life despite her previous villainous ways. Eager to try all the normal people things like going to the movies and drinking with friends.

>>95844052I'm game if you are, but it really sounds like you want to make a small scale 'quiet life' villain. Which I think is sick to have in a quarantine zone, that's some neat inherent tension, but it'd make it a little weird sticking the builds together. If you can just bring the build's family back to life there wouldn't really be that much tension, same with having a minion printer, etc.
I think I'll gamble on some anon having the guts to say they were the one that broke the city shocked it hasn't happened yet tbdesu and throwing in with them. If that doesn't happen, maybe I'll just make a different build and use the machine for plot hooks.
>>95852083Queen Anne did say she was (part of) the group that did it atleast.

>>95852122You mean stuff like canon characters and groups? Some canon factions exist, but we're a whole other city away from Brockton so it makes more sense to have our own alternatives in the quarantine zone.
>>95851677Im not sure you need choice of nation and choice or time period. Im not really sure you need either for mp but if you are going for a more general cyoa then thats a good thing. The time period part in particular changes a lot, if everyone liked it here a lot then multiple time periods would let there be multiple unique mps over time but it might be harder for people to initially get into. Also is this the persona like one? Anywho the options i read through seemed good but would have to check again after numbers were assigned. All in all it looks good and hope progress goes well.
>>95852133The S9 are a global group I am pretty sure, they travel all over the world. Otherwise makes sense.
>>95852124I like the idea of them being a group lost to time, just a league of very powerful villains that took over the city and fucked off to their own territory to live a life of luxury while commoners fight for scraps.
>>95852157When I made Anne I assumed a lot of the actual super-super villains and proper S9 level villains would stake claims over part of the city and make their own demands of the people living there.
Its not a democracy or anything afterall.
Seems like most people are just tryina live in the city though.
>>95851772I mean if I had to make a list of what my top ST's are, I'd probably still put Invisibility in the top 10. In fact, that's what I'm going to do to see exactly what my top 10 are. The 25 pointers as otherwise they'd just rank at the top. Some powers I'm ignoring, such as Rocky and USW since the only way people expect you to judge them is on their infinite potential. Also Paramount, Kingmaker, and Stand. Just imagine them to be above whatever options they can take.
Honorable mention: Sting. I don't judge based on the increase from base to ST, but in this case it's really not that powerful since it is still possible to dodge it and its only lethal if it lands a fatal blow. Also honorable mentions to the precog powers, if it wasn't for how easy it is to be a blindspot they'd be on the list.
>1: MasqueradeAny power that allows you to copy other powers is already good, but being able to impersonate them on top of that is so much better. Depending on if you know where the original is, you can get a ton of mileage.
>2: NanomachinesMaybe its just me overvaluing the grey goo too much but I assume these guys are the self replicating ones that give the term its fame, which would easily be an S-Class like Machine Army. While there are powers to deal with it, being able to unleash it into the world and being self sustaining puts it beyond the scope that a cape can be expected to deal with.
>3: Power FluctuationThis is a power people would kill for. Tripling someone's output is absurd. You'd get swooped up by Cauldron faster than you could say "Oh cool I have powers.". The only weakness is the range which can make it hard to apply on a larger scale battle, but with triple output I'd have to imagine the person you are boosting could find some way to make it work. On the flipside, being able to totally cut off someone else's powers is insanely strong too, so the fact you have the versatility to choose between them depending on the situation is absurd.
>>95852174>4: KomnenosAnother busted ability, if it was just injuries it'd probably still make it on the list near the bottom, but being able to effect powers too makes it so strong when you can apply the ST to it. Mental effects, getting stabbed, struck by lightning by a parahuuman, all of it can be shoved off and you'll get a diminished version at some point in time. Being able to control the amount that you experience and also ignoring small stuff gives you so much leeway to outright ignore anything that doesn't significantly harm you, and what does can be delayed until you find some way to deal with it.
>5: SummoningForcing someone to appear right to you without them able to resist is probably one of the most broken things in the CYOA, only thing that stops it from being above the rest is the fact you're going to get your ass kicked if you abuse it. Easily could be used to summon your entire crew on your position, even if they were trapped somewhere like the Bird Cage.
>6: Living ForestInfinitely scaling forest as long as you can be bothered to keep transforming and moving to the boundaries. You'll have an army of monsters at your command and the territory protects itself with the plants, can't go wrong there.
>7: Get Over HereA definite All or Nothing power thats only slightly inferior than the canon counterpart's. Nothing much to say, it completely denies attempts to brute force your way out of it. Even though something like No Clip ST or Mist Form, there's not a whole lot of counterplay unless you're able to kill the user while chained up, and its pretty easy to get caught since they work automatically and you only need the general direction of your target.
>8: TechnopathyTinkertech can be so absurd, being able to control it is a huge boon. 1km range isn't that crazy but its essentially a total Tinker death zone as you'll turn their creations against them. Wouldn't be able to overcome the grey goo but would prevent you from being killed by them.
>>95852174Power Fluctuation is the single most broken power cause everyone loses to a gun when it gets involved. We kinda just ignore it for serious multiplayer discussion.
>>95851917I always find it more fun to be loose with canon.

>>95852179>9: SurgeryIt's like Komnenos if you could pass off the injuries to other people. Due to it lacking any effects towards powers and focusing just on injuries I couldn't put it that high, even though the amount of damage you can take is infinite, in theory. Since you have to also touch the wound vs the instant effect of Komnenos you can still get shot in the head and go down, but the offensively capabilities mean you could pile on a hundred bullet shots and transfer it to someone else in one touch.
>10: Temporal OverwriteIt's just a prime Striker power. Touch them, age them, move on. Accelerated Decay doesn't really have anything on it.
Damn. Unfortunately although I was close to choosing Cloak, still didn't make it in my top 10. Even though it was heavily, heavily balanced in my favor. I know striking out over half a dozen powers doesn't seem that fair, but felt those options were obviously head and shoulders above the rest and it'd be boring to go over them when everyone already knows exactly how strong they are.
>>95852189Probably should have ignored it too due to how self explanatory the power is. In a world based on having powers, being able to look at a guy and make him 3 times stronger according to his strength scale, or looking at another guy and making him completely unable to use powers at all puts it at one of the highest levels by default.

Something like flamethrowers or freeze rays would be the best loadout, or deploying a disabling Master hero. Not insurmountable, but calls for a countermeasure.

>>95852331>I'd be interested to hear your reviews of other powers and where their cost values are. I designed/contributed a good chunk to the DLC powers, so it's interesting to hear peoples' thoughts on them.NTA but Seismic Control is way overpriced. I know it was made to be the counterpart to Atmosphere Control, but its actually competing against Telekinesis. 10 Meter range is so pathetically small. It's not even controlling the earth at that level, its just the power to cause it to crack. You pay 10 points to crack the Earth while Telekinesis can rip a chunk out and throw it at you, and Atmosphere Control can cause thunderstorms across the city by default. ST makes it usable but its left even further behind in the dust compared to those two.
Also all the Celestial Body references I think are silly. It needs way smaller limits, that's way too huge to cap it at and all powers balanced that way should be tuned way down. Other then the general spelling mistakes, missing words, and some stuff having ? because the ideas were still being developed, it's mostly fine. Spooky Scary Skeletons definitely doesn't work as a Stranger power with the ST though, totally a Changer ability.

>Still Movement ST:Anything anchoring you in place is now moved with you. The only thing you cannot move this way are the Entities and Celestial Bodies.
>Ultra Instinct ST:Now your reflexes allow you to react to even speeds beyond your ability. You can now match the speed of anything moving within 30 feet of you that is not a Celestial body.
Also while not celestial body levels, I think Full Stop ST is absurd. Does not affect anything larger than a city is still not a drawback. It should be incredible that you're able to affect something the size of a fucking city for effectively 3 points.
>>95852174I feel like you're missing a couple.
>Infinite TreasurySummon up to a ton of any tinkertech at once, unmake and resummon it for free repairs, and obviously the normal benefits of infinite stuff. You're a tinker 10+ without any of the normal weaknesses of a tinker.
>Mirror ImageNot great on it's own, but it's basically an x3-x4 multiplier to all other powers you have, which is incredibly strong when combined with 98% of the cyoa.
Plus you can use them to fight your battles for you if you have an enhanced movement power. Teleportation + Mirror Image is a nightmare.
>LawgiverJust say 'Freeze' to instantly paralyze a crowd, then you can go in and further master them. You can basically program people if you're willing to take the time. If you're clever and combine your laws well, you can use this to take over the PRT or any other group with very little risk.
>Animate ConstructsIt's like Living Forest but way cheaper. You can sit miles away and deconstruct a city into rampaging minions, or raise up a gigantic army out of nothing but time. One of the most slept on powers imo.
>Power SightThis is just what Jack Slash does, and he's mister Plot Armor. Honestly the entire Trump tree is insanely busted, but Power Sight is cracked in an all new way.
There's some others I'd put in the top tiers, but they'd be a bit harder to explain.
Point is, invisibility just isn't a top tier. There's too much insane shit in this cyoa.

I guess there's lo a possibility of encountering her in 'break mode' and potentially doing things with that.
>>95852083Yeah, that fair. It would make one of her main concerns vanish pretty much entirely.
Honestly, I might rewrite her again to be more aggressive. I avoided it because I felt it would cut off a lot avenues for interaction, but it might be better to put more emphasis on the war part of being a warlord.

>>95852542NTA but I'm not sure if one single build can say that, or if they can, what kind of person they'd need to be.
>>95852471Treasury is good, its just unlike the other ones I listed they have less limits. Most of my choices I picked because they either can be widescaling or are some of the strongest in their field. Working with Tinkertech is always dangerous even if you can ignore maintenance, since sometimes it takes the Tinker who made it to know how to use it without blowing up in your face.
For Mirror image, I tend to not really judge stuff based on how they are combined with other stuff, even though I know that was entirely the basis of the original discussion. I was setting out to prove that it could still be top tier as it had uses outside of combat, but I admitted I failed.
Lawgiver is a bit complicated since you can't really use it to make people obey you even at the ST level. Most you could really do is to prevent them from kicking your ass, Freeze isn't enough of a command since that could easily be a part of leading to other commands. I'm sure there's ways to game it, but its way more difficult compared to other Master options even if you're looking at the long term.
Animate constructs is pretty strong I'd have to agree, I can't agree its better then Living Forest though. It can be used on a greater scale and far faster but you'll always be the vulnerability, whereas Living Forest gives you a territory to naturally protect you and you can be the forest to make it harder to take you down.
Power Sight is just one of those bullshit ones that depends if you wank it to be Jack levels. Nothing in the CYOA is anything close to the level of canon characters barring the 25 pointers, so I have no reason to believe people would pull of the amount of plot armor he had against other Parahumans. At best it'd create synergy between team members instead of fully shutting own opponents.
>>95852486No I completely understand that. It's just entirely stupid. That gives you so much leeway its not even funny. The limit is way too high and needs to come down massively.
>>95852542>>95852555There's been like 3 different people who have claimed to caused the quarantine. I like it that way, its funny as fuck to see people who try and take credit or feel immense guilt thinking they're the reason why everything is so shit.

Costume: Armored
Skills: Martial Arts, Marksmanship
Shard: Dead
Perks: STx7, Noctis Cape, Power Slotsx7, Money, Money
Flaws: Case53 (Looks like she hasn't slept in years), WDEx3, Numbed, S9, ET, Humble, Memory Death
Powers Schroedinger ST, Mirror Image ST, Quality Assurance, Temporal Leap ST, Replication ST, Fake Death, Manton Unlimited ST, Vampirism ST, Hideous Transformation ST, Disconnect
- In other words she's really hard to kill for real but good at faking being dead.
Many of the villains ruling this hellhole have their own enforcers. They get beat up, they die, and there's a new one next week taking the exact same spot. Nobody really thinks too much about them - Whether they hvae a family or kids or a life and that's the point. They just are some shardless schmuck that dies.
Except they don't really die that often. And there aren't as many as people think. Mook is nearly impossible to kill and a skilled combatant to the point they can put up a token resistance before 'dying' and returning home with all the gathered intel about whoever they were working for or whoever they were fighting to sell on the black market and fund their moderately comfortable life.
The things she has accomplished and endured are terrifying. But was that ever really her? She's simply sitting at home relaxing and playing videogames and reading books and going out to meet friends. Life goes on nomatter who is in charge and most people steer clear of trying to rob her. She does look tired though.
She had to relive the worst day of her life a good few hundred times so she certainly deserves some R&R to say the least. Probably the worst drinking buddy though.
>>95852542S9 Equivalent caused it according to Anne.
Weve been over this, literally like an hour ago.
>>95852526I'd like a tinker that would build melee weapons for my build as some sort of service or cooperation. Like they could probably fight with the weapons they build if need be, but there's someone tailor made to handle all the wacky stuff they build.
>>95852599Just for the complainers im nolonger a ''vial trick'' build.
>>95852526Right now the thing most people seem to want is a primary villain - like the person who initially took the city, or at least instigated the need for a quarantine. They could serve as a central power, and organize most of the important meetings or functions needed for the city.
We're very low on Heroes, which makes sense for the run we're going for, but the options for fighting the resistance are either Teacher (who rarely goes in the frontline cause she's so valuable) or Hopeman (who stomps every other build). You could make someone more middle of the road, and if they have some decent survivability they'll probably be a good foil for the villains.
I'd personally like a hothead/reactionary build so I'd have someone I could run counter to Nightmare. I'd also like another member of Wonderland so I have an easy character I can include in writefags, but having another character in any of the other villain factions will flesh them out more than another independent.
>>95852526We have a few people who took followers for friends/associates I think.
>>95852560>TreasuryYou could argue it's risky, but it's still one of the most insane powers. You can summon barriers, weapons, bombs, and more even without getting into the gamebreaking tinkertech. It might have a harder limit than some other powers, but I'd easily put it over Get Over Here. One ton of material is more than enough for power armor.
>LawgiverYou can't just make them obey you, but if you layer a guy in dozens to hundreds of laws, it's more or less the same thing. It benefits the most from Perfect Mind, imo, because it gets better the more ironclad you can make your wording.
>ConstructsI can't disagree, it's probably weaker than Living Forest, but I personally find it cooler. Plus unlike Living Forest, you can have your armies march out instead of having to rely on spreading a forest. Plus you can create minions near you directly instead of sprawling them across a square mile. With it being five points cheaper, I'd say they're probably close to equal.
>Power SightI don't see why you can't wank it. Surgery is arguably better Scapegoat, Sting ST is better in some ways compared to canon Sting users, Fake Telepathy ST is comparable to Tattletale. Even if it takes time to attune to a shard compared to Broadcast's "always on, affecting everybody" shit, it's still attuning to a shard either way.

>>95852644I wouldn't call Anne
>>95852648This wouldn't happen to a dinosaur. They get out of cells.
>>95848116Stalchka would be a Tinker 3, and a Blaster 4 with her best weapons. It can be assumed she brings good gear given the fact she can go back to a save unless another blindspot shows up. A sufficiently skilled squad of soldiers can pin her down, but her cybernetics make catching her hard, especially if the squad sent after her isn't ready to start taking endless .50 BMG rounds from a moving target.
>>95852248Godspeed. an MP lives off of writefags, not engagment.
I don't want people to try and wank my build, Im fine just being one of the warlords.
All I have to say on the matter of Annes strength is that the power description is intentionally left vague and more poetic than reliable and you have to consider the parts that go into it and their effects. Think of it as unreliable narrator and the PRT agent was getting affected even writing the report.
>>95852672Sorry but I'm using my meta knowledge to determine that at best due to having Power Refinement scale to her strongest power (Enthrallment), her range would hover at similar ranges, maybe give or take up to 10 meters depending how much tiny boosts from her other powers could be counted towards a range boost and having a dead shard.
Speaking of which, she's going to run dry in just a few years since she's always having her power run. Even if it just consumes a bit of energy for producing the scent and the effect runs its course without taking more, it's going to be pretty harsh having to renew it among her thralls and trying to expand her influence for new members on top of that.

Oh no the ancient arguments
Obviously if you combine two 10 point powers its gonna be stronger than if you take a 10 pointer and like eight one cost powers. Even if its written like the latter is better.

I don't want to believe this run is dead in the water but all this does not inspire confidence. It feels like half the builds took every single drawback they could and other half is just dumps or shitposts. Its been 2 days and I cannot imagine a worse start for an MP other than dying in the cradle.
>>95852762If it was about what's fun and makes sense then the entire text of the ST should be disregarded. It's needlessly restrive.
>>95852761Most power refinements are nerfing their power anyway so I never understood anons trying to get them to break their power apart and do everything with boring RAW powers.
Normal Enthrallment is GG no re instant you entered the area, while this refinement you actually get to resist it and its not instant.

>>95852808Hard not to feel the same. Like I know I didn't put my best foot forward this run but now I feel like I only contributed to the mess. Its one thing to not really like Worm or the setting, I can understand that, but some of these builds or the anons behind them at least just don't even seem to like it as a CYOA. Its like forcing themselves to play something they dislike. I don't know whether its actually out of spite or what but the quality of the roster has suffered for it. I can't think of a single way to try and recover since there's like 2-3 builds tops I'd ever have an interest in actually writing about and that can't pull the rest out of the mud.
>>95852793Most people use PR ST to cannibalize the parts of a power they want while getting rid of the parts they don't want. Basically it's just there to do power definement's job better because power definement is shit.

>>95852844Not how ive seen it used at all, weve always used it to combine a bunch of powers to get a overall thematic effect we want with aspects of them all.
The argument about the fact that RAW you get more out of buying a bunch of 1 pointers to fuse into it is as old as the dlc. It'll never be settled, but luckily most people ignore that and just accept that someone with a solid thematic ability combining several high cost powers is going to be a little stronger than the powers on their own.
>>95852858>Not how ive seen it used at all, weve always used it to combine a bunch of powers to get a overall thematic effect we want with aspects of them all. That's what I said tho?

Brute 7, Thinker 1, and Trump 8 or 9? The enhancements can get strong enough that the average non-PC parahuman would likely fail to 1v1 and unlike regular kingmaker, her power doesn't have a target number limitation so she's potentially mass printing brutes under the right conditions. Feels too high, but it would explain why she got pushed into a leadership position.
Also I might be underestimating the threat level of PRT squads and average parahumans. It's hard to give a rating when I don't really understand the metric being used.

Stalcka, Nightmare, Rapunzel, Immortality Machine, and Jolt, and Teacher. Not like they are some super standouts, but compared to the others theyโre really the only ones worth bothering with. Theres a couple of others which are alright outside of this but they usually lack some drive to be in the zone.
>>95853016From the way it's framed in the dino guy's build description it's that Disney is trying to gain citizens/indentured servants by forcing the people who still live there to pay for their protection.
Also is it really 10 years? That seems silly in itself, I thought it was way more recent.
>>95852977Honestly unexpected. I figured she could 1v1 the average non-PC hero with some breathing room just by enhancing herself, whereas the average PC build would be something where she needs allies to enhance or she's in danger. Then I figured that the ability to mass produce that would be something actually impressive since it'd be making a ton of above average parahumans. If she's in a position where one to two average parahumans with support can take out a small army of her... I might be cooked. PC builds will probably just treat her and her buffs like a rounding error, huh?
>>95853031You know what to do anon. Hunt down Inigo anon. It's the only way...
>>95853044And do what? Make him join our our MPs?
>>95853038It's actually more than a decade - Jolt was born into the quarantine.
>>95853034>but everything about this is explicitly about Disney. Sure we could swap in a stand in, but how would a zone work when weโre still on top of the Disney Park or right next to it.Yeah it's Disney, but again, is that really that big of a deal? They're just supervillainly evil in this universe. It's not that big of a deal.
Feels like anons just hate it because it's a real company being mentioned in a superhero setting. I don't get the autism about it. Theme parks could be a cool setting for fights too.
It just feels like my actions got the response they deserved. I'm usually better about shooting these ideas down but I've been indulging myself too much and I went too far this time. I knew it was bad deep down but I was selfish.
>>95853049Yeah. Or force him to revive MHA one last time with the power of writefagging and artfagging. I guess Sandy anon would do in a pinch but he's married now so it will be harder.
>>95853054The fact that any sort of citizens even existed for that long in the zone is fucking crazy to be honest, LET ALONE having kids in it (and not aborting them).
>>95853058Donโt worry Anon. You wonโt be as bad as Marakanon in not being to stand behind your ideas even if they are shitโฆ you arenโt Marakanon right?

>>95853041Nah she's fine right now, the problem with brute ratings is just that containment foam is a massive gatekeeper for most brutes so PRT squads can actually hang with them even if they should be unkillable. I don't think any of the villain gangs have access to it tho so it's not really a problem here.

>>95853022>>95853031Its just so exhausting. I donโt know if I have autism or something but I mentally cannot understand why someone would bother doing something that they donโt enjoy. It should be natural to give some semblance of effort and care into the things you do but now people just go around and force themselves to be unhappy and make it other peopleโs problems. I knew an entire friend group like that and it was insufferable because you realize that they couldnโt be honest and talk about what they liked because they were more invested in seeing funny or something by ironically indulging in activities they couldnโt possibly give less of a shit about. Maybe thats why Iโm extra incensed about it.
>>95853056It was a shit idea pushed by a shit build. If Im honest, I donโt want to try and make it work. Why should I compensate for someone elseโs terrible meme? If it was a genuine suggestion sure but thereโs nothing genuine about anything involving that build and heโs made it pretty clear. The entire disney shit hinged on him trying to make it a thing and I donโt see why itโs not a problem.

>It should be natural to give some semblance of effort and care into the things you do but now people just go around and force themselves to be *unhappy* and make it other peopleโs problemsNo one does this.
>>95853142Well that post wasn't very convincing either way. It does not seem like a big deal to me, no matter how you slice it. Is it because it's a real company? Is that literally it?
>>95853137Man I donโt need to convince you. If you think its solid enough to run with Iโm not going to say that you canโt do it. I just canโt say that its anything but garbage when it was only propped up by someone who said they didnโt know shit about the setting, which is fine, except for how all their actions afterward showed that they never really intended to give a damn. I canโt detach it, it just leaves a sour taste. Things which are disingenuous donโt sit right with me.
>>95853108>I expected that PRT guys were fodder to be honestThat's fine since they kind of are(narratively), they have everything they need to be a massive threat but the story is about parahumans so they get underutilized in everything.
>>95853148Thereโs a difference between silly shit and this. This is just awful. I donโt know why its just alright when literally multiple people commented on how the MP is shit. Yeah thereโs always a few who want to dampen any new MP but everyone can see it. And unfortunately I do believe people actively do shit that makes them unhappy, especially if it can make others unhappy too. Seen it before and its just confusing.
>>95852929Why would a writefag change anything if you think the idea is so inherently retarded that acknowledging it would ruin the run?
>>95852941If it was always there then I guess my brain filtered it out. I wasn't thinking about it as a factor when making Toshiko and it does seem slightly off for the intent of this run, but I don't have good ideas so my opinion shouldn't be taken very seriously.
>>95852542Angra claims to have caused the quarantine, but I doubt anybody will give a shit about my build in upcoming days.

>>95853190Look man I know Im easy to bait because Im exhaustingly longwinded but you canโt just โlet people enjoy thingsโ when its actively hurting the MP as a whole. Why are we prioritizing one person over the rest.
>>95853155>I just canโt say that its anything but garbage when it was only propped up by someone who said they didnโt know shit about the setting, which is fine, except for how all their actions afterward showed that they never really intended to give a damnthe intent to writefag and making a garbage chart already puts him above all the dumpers desu
>>95853203>let people enjoy thingsโ when its actively hurting the MP as a whole. Why are we prioritizing one person over the rest.I don't think it is hurting the MP. Feels like you're trying to prioritize yourself over the rest if anything, most people don't give a shit. It's not a big deal, and I don't see why it would be.
>>95853085Wormfags are delusional if they think their builds live up to the original premise, let alone are worth of writefagging for. The only ones we have don't inspire confidence, we have a Dinofag taking the piss out of everything and Peripeteiafag literally ripping off a tranny coded character to tell an unoriginal, ill-fitting story. It's dead in the cradle, yet they'll write entire paragraphs of irrelevant bullshit instead of writing something good and interesting.
>>95853204Yeah, I don't like it, but he is better than me. I'd like to write, but it'd be like putting a bandaid on the mangled body of my build.

>>95853211How am I prioritizing myself? I already lost the moment I threw my hat in the ring and posted a build for this. I donโt get anything if the setting is changed, the wellโs poisoned and I already talked about how weโre all stuck in the loop of grasping at new MPโs so losing the momentum to a shit scenario hurts massively. The only thing I could hope for is that this doesnโt happen again but thereโs nothing I can do personally to prevent that. Its grating that despite other people mentioning how they donโt like it, because you donโt think its a problem, suddenly its not a problem for others. I donโt care to prove whoโs right or wrong since this wasnโt ever planned to be some debate.
>>95853240builds that actually feels like villains, not the scpslop or a hobo farming drawbacks for his powerset

>and I already talked about how weโre all stuck in the loop of grasping at new MPโs so losing the momentum to a shit scenarioThis is a you problem. The only reason you think this issue exists is because you can't have fun. This loop doesn't exist, and if it does, it would be broken by anyone, INCLUDING you, effortfagging for an mp they like. Effortfags make an mp, and nothing else.
>Its grating that despite other people mentioning how they donโt like it, because you donโt think its a problem, suddenly its not a problem for othersAgain, they can just not acknowledge it if it really hurts their engagement that much. It is such a minor and easily avoided problem.
>>95853203I'm not even in the MP because I'm not that interested in playing Worm for the millionth time, but this dude obviously knows the idea is dumb and is just winding you up to see how long you'll go.

>>95853275Fair enough. I donโt exactly think its the end of multiplayers or whatnot, its just with the current state of things the most interaction we get is with the initial startup, which is why it felt sabotaged when the concept was shifted and stalled people who still didnโt know what the setting was. Wormโs eternal, and will ultimately come around again given time.

The image was pulled from Toriko and the description was loosely based on Sukuna, I felt like that would make a fun villain in this scenario. Plus the GTrobo just looks cool. Haven't read Baki really so I'm not sure, but the passion for fighting is definitely there if that's a Baki thing.
As for painting, I'd say he is quite good, his work in similar vein to Thomas Cole's style. He enjoys observing parahuman fights from afar, painting the fight itself and the aftermath.
I'm tempted to just say fuck it and start making a new class for mha. Might bridge the cap before we get a new mp i like

Depends on his mood at the time. Usually he leaves them alone unless fighting would prove interesting. He particularly enjoys fighting against esoteric powers, it helps push him to his limit

>>95855133Fuck it, I can't budget the idea I had without it and I don't know if it'd even work.
>>95855206The idea was actually about being a mind controller, as in making sleeper agents with a combo of Lawgiver ST, Oblivion ST and wrapped together with Power Refinement ST into a single power. But looking at ST of Ignorace is Bliss, making someone forget getting mastered might make them ignore the rule rather than simply be unaware of its existance.
>>95855237I say go for it anyways. The Ignorance is Bliss ST could be something specific to that power rather than regarding forgetting being mastered in general
>>95855088same and me too
this one's quieter now though so hey it might not be as bad
>>95855083was brainstorming a pmd rerun last thread where the world ended sometime in the 80s and pokermans get to explore the apocalypse that came after
I ended up making a little mspaint concept map for it but the thread died out so I didnt get to share it before archival
might as well throw it in here
probably doesnt need to be clarified that my art skills are pretty shit but the idea is basically a kind of radial city, in the middle of which is an enormous skyscraper (that looks more like a turn of the century office tower) that never seems to end
lots of different "ruins" scattered about that all end up as dungeons: an abandoned amusement park, overrun indoor mall, overgrown outdoor park, etc. Stuff like that. Vaguely split into "sectors" but that's just a very vague category based on feelings and stuff
haven't thought about rules yet? considering nobledark, honestly, but not sure
obviously idk if this is going to be a thing so i dont want to jump the gun yet
for the science museum, think of places like the ontario science scenter, de uithof, or the st louis science center; big building with a planetarium dome, lots of various exhibits on the inside including an aquarium, etc.
obviously all dilapidated now but just for reference
couldn't fit everything into this map but these are just a few of the concepts I came up with

updated revenant a little
>>95855429>Thing is, with the powers involved, the 'scaling' doesn't actually do much besides prevent the earth haxThat scaling does everything. You are as fast as anything within 30 feet. Projectile weapons will always be too slow considering that you're able to react to it. Some tinkertech sniper bullet moving at 3000 mph will just tune your reflexes to move just as fast once it enters your range. Someone with Hyperspeed instantly gets matched and the UI user co opts the speed. It's by far the best Mover option when it comes to sheer speed, it only loses to teleportation options which are instant.
Its mostly the fact that a 5 point power will let you ignore the speed factor of anything you could possibly come across that isn't a fuckin planet. Shit, its competition is Blitz and that caps at the speed of sound even at ST.

glad to be proven wrong!
>>95855586>That is the entire point of the power. yes. Also why it exhausts you to use.Where in the world does it says it exhausts you? And you're missing the point, the power is way too strong for a 5 pointer. Thats easily a 10 because you can become as fast as you need to in any situation, which is being as fast as the fastest thing in the room.
>>95855598>Thats easily a 10 because you can become as fast as you need to in any situation, which is being as fast as the fastest thing in the room.I should clarify, the ST has the power of a 10. The normal power is fine as is, the ST is way too overpowered.
>>95855590Its not something thats going to last long but its easy to write for and can be fun for a week or two.
>>95855590I think some people just struggle with making a build for it, personally I think its a fun cyoa. The only real issue I have is the point rewards for writefags and such. It turns the entire thing into a popularity contest. I know its supposed to incentivize effortfagging in general but I think tying it to points is lame.
>>95855637Maybe we just gut that part then. People will effortfag if its fun
>>95855637>point rewards for writefags and such. It turns the entire thing into a popularity contest.Could have it so that the points are based on the authors? I don't know how we'd do that, but it could keep from making it into a popularity contest if it rewards specific people for contributing instead of specific characters for appearing
>>95855396PMDrat...
actually kinda cool not gonna lie
>>95855659African exchange students?
>>95855661We just capped the amount of points you could get in a given timeframe last time.
Not like anyone is gonna be in enough to abuse it before it dies.
>>95855661That already exists as it is in the cyoa, I still think it can be an issue since what really constitutes a writefag? Could someone just put out a 500 word snippet and continue it in parts and farm up points? Points are tight enough in some of the scenarios that I think it would encourage that sort of thing, and ultimately I think its not worth having to judge it in a court of public opinion.
Any time you give the opportunity to get a leg up on the individual's own terms, I think its only inviting it to be abused. If points were doled out during events or something so that people can write for it and it puts a choke on how much people can get at a time it could work out, but that has its own share of problems.
>>95855707>capped the amount of points you could get in a given timeframe last time.Oh that kind of works, if you mean capping it per character
Would definitely stop those kinds of popularity contests. I'll steal it for this time's rules too since the alternative might involve namefagging and that is gay and lame
>>95855708Good lord we just ignore people who try to abuse it with shitty breakfast writefags its not complicated not everything needs perfect rules beforehand.
>>95855708eh, I think it's pretty obvious when someone's putting in effort and when someone's not. Could easily just ignore the low-effort stuff?
>>95855716>not everything needs perfect rules beforehand. Its not like we're worried about making the ruleset airtight. What gives someone the right to say someone else's writing isn't good enough? That's why I'd rather not do it in a system where people get judged for everything they put out and just make it something fair so it won't matter as much. Just seems like it'll invite in thread shitflinging that way, but I'm not the one pitching the CYOA so you can take it with a grain of salt. I ain't your mama.
>>95855590I don't like PMD because the concept of playing a Pokรฉmon is pretty lame to me. Still, good luck, your idea seems interesting.
>>9585559810 point is Hyperspeed whenever you want, UI is 7 at most since it can only match other speeds.
>>95855740>>95855728I dont think we gatekeep it, just its obvious if someone makes like 5 writefags all super short waking up and eating breakfast he might get his pointwhoring ignored.
That said capping the points puts everyone ont he same field. Yeah some people may cry that they put in more effrot but at the end of the day who cares, its bonus points and we appreciate your work more than the breakfast writefags.
>>95855740I'm worried about shitflinging too yeah. The rules are a bit awkward about this, it's ironically really hard to make them balanced in a /mcyoag/ setting since everyone's anonymous... I think capping it would be good, something like 5 or 10 times a week to earn points? Maybe less given the point total? No clue
Oh yeah, im making a kanto pokemon again (like I would choose anything else ever)
>>95855756Just cap it at 5 bonus points until an arbitrary time in the future we decide to increase it. Same way we handled moving up in years in MHA

>>95855991It's MHAfioso, anon. He has an agenda to maintain.
>>95855396For the post apocalypse I think it's more appropiate grimbright or grimdark. Nobledark feels lacking.
>>95855396making a mimikyu no matter what if this goes up, mark my words in stone.
>>95856184oh? Why? I'm willing to tip to Grimbright (not grimdark, that honestly seems a little unfitting), but I'm curious as to why you consider Nobledark lacking
>>95856184>>95856227Hear me out; Apocalypses suck. But they're also always combined with regrowth and rediscovery. The world begins to overgrow and rebuild. It can go grimbright or nobledark either way imho depending on the tone of the apocalypse and its survivors.
Nobledark gives me the impression we're pushing against whatever causes the apocalypse to find community again, meanwhile Grimbright is if it's a force of nature and we're just finding the world anew with no real connectivity to what came before.
>>95856227Mostly because I don't like the description os nobledark in the cyoa and in general I think both it and grimbright have been misnamed. But more specifically because I feel like in this post apoclypse the goal of the pokemon would be to just survive and make the best of a bad situation, maybe study the past to not repeat the same mistakes, but not going on a grand quest to revive the world. Nobledark imples a grand quest, in this case the deed is already done, the wotld is over, but is already starting to recuperate, it's like grimdark after the world stared healing. Grimbright feels more appropiate for that. Also NOBLEdark would imply that people (or pokemon in this case) are mostly good an united, while in this case it would be both more interesting and more fitting to have a decen amount of assholes around that only care for themselves, afer all what is the post apocalypse without roaming bands of bandits?
>>95856305Ahh, that's funny since you've got both intended themes kind of mixed up. Pushing against what caused the apocalypse isn't really going to happen since the apocalypse itself is long-gone, but the world is definitely hostile. There's lots of connectivity to what came before in the form of ruins, leftover (really broken) tech, most of the setting being in a city built by the beforetimes, etc. The objective is definitely finding community and pushing back against the shittiness of the world, which is palpable, but not really making the world anew because that isn't possible for a very long time
>>95856327This is a lot more convincing of an argument and pretty fair. "Best of a bad situation" is definitely the goal, so I'll go for Grimbright if that really does feel more appropriate. Also, fair point on the Noble thing. I didn't catch that; people are definitely not good and united by default here so noble would make little sense.
>>95856305>Nobledark gives me the impression we're pushing against whatever causes the apocalypse to find community againThat's why I don't think it fits, it seems like the world ended a long time ago and the current pokemon (maybe with some exeptions like legends and really old ones) don't even know why. Now what I am about to say is mostly personal preference but I think a setting where the pokemon slowly discover the cause of the end of the world is more interesting than one where they already know.
>>95854517There's a crucial flaw in your plan anon... She's pretty flat.
>>95856355Nobledark is "the world is about to end, we have to stop it, we will unite against a common enemy" if they fail we go to grimdark. The described scenario is more of a game of the gods deal but as a definition gimbright works as a better in between than nobledark for aforementioned reasons, on the road to noblebright. Grimbright works as "shit happend but it's long past and we stared healing, things are looking up(bright) but without a common cause people may try to take advantage of the situation or revert to being tribal(grim)" Also what is the point of a Mystery if it's already solved?
>>95856419>"shit happend but it's long past and we stared healing, things are looking up(bright) but without a common cause people may try to take advantage of the situation or revert to being tribal(grim)"Yep, that's what I'm going for. Grimbright it is!
Opinions on the rules?
>Grimbright setting. Post-apocalyptic with leftover, mostly broken 80s tech that you can only find in various Mystery Dungeons. You must relearn how to use all of it on your own. Default tech is normal PMD standard.
>Type loss can only be taken once, not twice
>Point earning currently capped at 5 per character. Includes both MP and PP.
>Characters from previous PMD runs should take isekai.
>>95856419the MYSTERY will be, decided by ME right now; there's a group trying to cause another apocalypse because they view the world has regrown wrong. And there's a race to discover how.
>>95856451Would it be uncouth to give mons that lack Mega's to just design our own instead of doing 'cosmetic stat boost' cause I have a good villain-mon build rotating in my head that'd really synergize with it
I never got the appeal of PMD
>>95856454>Would it be uncouth to give mons that lack Mega's to just design our ownI think itโd be hard to keep track of and encourage everyone to give their own character a custom one. Probably shouldnโt be done.
>>95856454We already have awakenings which work pretty much the same, and you can type change for a new design.
>>95856451>Type loss can only be taken once, not twiceWait what? You can be a no type by the cyoa rules?
>>95856475>Wait what? You can be a no type by the cyoa rules?Yeah, for whatever reason you can take type loss twice according to the CYOA. I have no idea how that works and it isnโt clarified. Iโm restricting it to one type loss because otherwise it makes no sense.
>>95856480Im not but i normally pick the most humanoid pokemon possible
>>95848440Here's a courtesy (You), sorry you wrote for a stillbirth.
>>95856451>Point earning currently capped at 5 per character. Includes both MP and PP.You mean 5 PP and 5 MP max or 5 total between both? Because that would be a bit rough. Otherwise seems good, I don't even know why type loss can be taken twice in the first place, being a no type would be more of an advantage than a drawback.
>>95856454Cool idea for the mystery. It adds drama and conflict but is in the background enough that it preserves the feel.
>>95856486Best to reword that rule to builds must have at least one type by the end of the CYOA, just to cover bases since single type Pokemon would still be able to no-type.
>>95856502Originally it was both, but that was before I changed to Grimbright. I switched it over to 5 each after that.

no typing is ass anyway because you don't have STAB and your moveset gets fucked, weird to try and police it
>>95856555Worm was a shitpost from the start so it should not have even been a thing.
>>95856560Why do you jump to that? The offtopic discussion just drowned out all else.
>>95856548>>95856555We should save it until things die down a bit or it'll just get swept into the pile of dead cyoas recently.
>>95856571I aggree, worm shitposting already almost killed HP too. But ironing out the rules in advance for later should be fine. Also it gives more time for lore finding.
>>95855396PMD getting some love? Damn, I'd really want to bring back H.I.V.E/Doctor Tenna since we never got anywhere last time but I have no idea if it'd throw anons off.
>>95856567>no typing is ass anyway because you don't have STAB and your moveset gets fuckedThing is, you also don't have any weaknesses. If you no-typed a Shuckle, for instance, those two drawbacks mean nothing because you are now basically invincible. Plus, it's just weird, and I don't know why it exists in the first place. What's the point of a Pokรฉmon mp without the type chart?
If single-types want to change types they can just use Type Shift.
>>95856571Yeah, I mentioned a bit back that I'm saving it for later. I just want to make sure I have the rules set down first and mostly agreed-upon so I can worldbuild accordingly and don't need to spend time clarifying the ruleset when I first post it. I'm definitely going to wait until things calm down to get this going.
>>95856567You can't have more than 2 types already. Somehow the cyoa specifies that but not that you can't go no type.
>>95856591Nta, I think it still kinda fits, with a bit of reflavouring. Also some other anons ate bringing back characters too.
>>95856548Adding an extra rule so that isekais from more advanced settings aren't at an automatic advantage:
>Isekais cannot have comprehensive knowledge of how to repair and use advanced tech. They can recognize it, but not its purpose nor its inner workings.
>>95856591I don't remember the Gendo pose? drawing (I always forget the name of that guy), did you not make it in time to post it when last run died? I was planning to bring back my character too, I am still undecided if I want to go full isekai or if I want to make a soft reset.
>>95856603Fair, though since Tenna did nothing last time (my bad), I'd rather her be from here than isekai'ing, depends on how everyone else wants to bring their characters from Relic Town though.
>>95856624Yeah, it was too late to post it by last time.
>>95856555I hope not, but I don't think I can keep writing for it. The way worm went has kinda just killed my motivation to do anything.
>>95856641I was planning to bring back Lushian by either making him die in the Abyss again and waking up in this other world that may or may not be just the future like an endless loop of death and rebirth, or simply making him one of the people that tried to prevent the end of the world but failed and died losing his memory. One of the options is significantly darker than the other, but I want to kinda see what vibe the rest of the MP takes.
>>95856612I see what you want to convey with this but I find it kinda funny. I don't think the average modern human has any idea of the tecnical workings of 80s tech. Only a professional would have that knowledge.
>>95856591I get old builds get wasted sucks but i think reposts hurts reruns a lot. Thats killed multiple runs.
>>95856603Honestly considering if I should give my old build a go around again but I've never psychologically recovered from someone going "Who asked?" towards it.
>>95856720Yeah, but there's always the chance someone brings over an experienced human from the actual irl 80s through isekai that knows how to work all this stuff. I just want to account for that so that one of the main draws isn't spoiled haha.
>>95856737You could just change the name, faceclaim and character a little but keep the build
>>95856737Entirely true and it's my worry. To be fair I'd expect to start completely fresh and not bring any baggage even if I did it, I'd just need to make sure it's not an issue before I committed.
>tomorrow is my work from home day
>Right as pmd starts
Im really hoping work is slow tomorrow
>>95856759If you start over with the character and dont just dump it then its probably fine but most wont do that
>>95856758Reworking is a lot better yeah
>>95856762Nah, it's not going to start tomorrow. Don't worry about it. This is mostly brainstorming in advance just to gather consensus; we're all a bit antsy about PMD just croaking if it begins immediately so I'm planning on holding off for a week or two ish.
>>95856758I'm too autistic too do this. When I pick the face claim and name, I try to pick the best one for my choices, so I can't imagine anything else for them.
phew glad I didn't waste any good faceclaims for worm
>>95856770>If you start over with the character and dont just dump it then its probably fine but most wont do thatYeah fully agreed. I normally wouldn't consider using an old concept but I was far too slow last PMD so the HIVE did essentially nothing. In a much better position to commit and effortfag this time around and would run her as if we were starting again entirely, with enough reworks for the new scenario.
The core of the Orbeetle Scientist-Bureaucrat organizing research efforts with a mild Gendo streak is still strong and untapped enough for me to do a lot with it, is all.
>>95856742I vaguely remember that happening, that was such a strange out of pocket thing, and I am pretty sure the post timer meant the guy didn't even have the time to read the build or something like that. Either way it was just shitposting.
>>95856743Yea, I get the goal. I just think it's funny and a little sad that we have to specify in the rules "please don't invalidate half the setting".
>>95856762It's not starting, we are just planning it and keeping it for later.
>>95856800>I just think it's funny and a little sad that we have to specify in the rules "please don't invalidate half the setting".Sigh, agreed. Hopefully it won't be super necessary by the time the run actually starts.
>>95856775>>95856800I figured now would be a good time with worm already dying/dead. Oh well. I guess ill just prep, maybe maybe an initial writefag.
One day I'll make an oc right up to my taste and then make an mp of it right up to my taste even if as a result it ends up an sp. One day.
>>95856798I think most people feel like that about last run. I know I feel like that. There were not any genuine connections so there is not much baggage, just plans and some interesting ideas. I will probably rework my character too instead of bringing him over as a continuation, but I always planned to put in the effort for it regardless, it's the whole reason why I want to bring it back in the first place. Why would anyone bring back an old character if they have no intention to explore it more?
>>95856688I'm with you there. I don't like seeing MP's die out so quick but I can't actually put together the energy to try and do anything for it because I don't have hope that its actually going to go anywhere. Usually I drop at least a chart but for the last few mp's they ended up dropping so fast that I couldn't even finish them in time and didn't have a reason to complete it. Stopped me from doing one for HP despite that it has more steam then the rest because I couldn't feel confident in how it'd pan out better compared to the others.
>>95856851Some people just really, really like their OCs and want them everywhere and have others write for them, which is okay once but twice is a little much. It happened more a few years ago, from what I can tell, but I disappear from this thread for months at a time and am only really here when I'm actively part of a run.
>>95856327>Also NOBLEdark would imply that people (or pokemon in this case) are mostly good an unitedThat's not what noble means in this case.
A bright setting is good and united.
A dark setting is gloomy and in decline.
A noble setting follows the great man philosophy, one extraordinary or dedicated person can change the world.
A grim setting disputes the great man theory. A single person, no matter how extraordinary, cannot be the fulcrum on which the world turns.
>>95854079Nah, we had MPs before and after OR
>>95856894What was the first MP? Fate?
>>95856867>Some people just really, really like their OCs and want them everywhere and have others write for themI don't want to bring back my character because I want others to write for it, I am the one that wants to write for it. Of course the point of MPs is interactions so I am happy to explore other characters too but I mainly do it because I think the narrative is still unexplored. Also in this case the setting still fits. I will admit that my concept actually requires more interaction than usual this time so it may be doomed to fail, but I still want to try.
>>95856897Maybe before my time. There was an Overlord run before my time too, so maybe that. Earliest for me I think was the first HP run.
>>95856887That's not the definition I know. The definition I know is reversed, Noble/Grim refers to the people while Dark/Bright refers to the world. In a noble setting people are mostly good, in a grim setting they are mostly bad. I saw this definition in multiple places while I never saw yours.
>>95856948It came from a setting alignment chart /tg/ made. Bright and Dark represent the tone, Noble and Grim represent the potential to change that tone.
>>95856940The earliest one I remember was Mercurial Grail War and that was in... April 2019. That's over 6 years ago. I feel old.
>>95856948I'm seeing the version you're talking about mainly on predigested trope sites. The one I used when making the CYOA is based on the axes of tone and potential for change that originated here.
I found several versions that maintain more of the original spirit of the chart as well, with just a quick google check.
>>95857025This one added some granular terms of its own, but is closest to the original setting alignment form:
https://www.worldanvil.com/w/brad-icastbolt/a/tone-26-setting-alignment-article
>>95857023what were the dinosaurs like grandpa?
>>95857129They raped me, Jimmy. You can never undo dinosaur rape.
>>95856887Even by this definition Grimbright is way closer than nobledark.
I know it would be pretty similar to mha but i still think a rwby mp would be awesome (a cyoa made for mp not the existing ones)
>>95857195every mp is noble
>>95857069By this definition our setting would be GrayGlow or BleakGlow, things are bad but looking up and we can get better by collaborating and being in a comunity. This is still closer to grombright than nobledark on bot axis.
Personally I vote for Nobledark so we get points for Explorer. Love me some free points.
I vote for whatever has the least amount of points. I like making more with less
>>95857296It doesn't fit the world at all, by any definition.
>>95857302We can harness the lost technologies of the ancient civilization and use guns in a dark scenario. I think that's reason enough.
>>95857308That's a very good point against dark anything.
>>95857308We could just make a rule that lests you pick guns if you really want them, but that also doesn't fit with the setting.
>>95857381I dislike the gun idea but other 80s relics would be fun. That or most pokemon couldnt use guns well because they arent meant to be able to
>>95857429We don't need nobledark for the 80s relics, they fit perfectly well in grimbright. We already found the right tone for the MP. Guns aways were a shitpost option anyway.
>>95857429>>95857468I don't mind the idea of lost fallen weapons if we dealt with it like Adventure Time deals with irl weapons. The old world and its reasonable/'grounded,' methods have died and been replaced by the whimsical, which straight guns don't really fit aesthetically.
>>95857502Well, the original idea was supposed to be the futuristic 80s tech, I am not sure if it changed in the meantime. I aggree with this, but the setting should still be grimbright, as adventure time also is. Strange 80s laser guns and other similar stuff could be fun.
>>95857429Guns are only usable in -dark settings, and that makes sense here because absolutely no guns left over would be usable in this scenario lol. They'd be filthy as shit and almost certainly not have workable ammo.
>>95857531Yeah this is fine, so long as the scifi-tech is either weird or whimsical rather than clinical we can make it work. On the Adventure Time note, that might actually be a good vibe to aim for in general, particularly the parts about it that are more horror and post-apocalypse coded.
>>95857502Honestly, the Adventure Time route seems fitting. I'll throw that into the lore doc as a tone guide, thank you!
>>95857531It's definitely staying Grimbright. Laser guns also sound great. Can easily repurpose those from like an abandoned laser tag place. Maybe I'll make a mention of that in the mall dungeon's description?
>>95857537Sounds good, it's also more fun this way. We could even have typed weapons.
>>95857554Type Technology in general in Pokemon is always kino.
>>95856529just upload it?

>>95857553Not to just make it Adventure Time but PMD but if we do go the post apocalyptic whimsical dark fantasy route we have one hell of a reveal to top when the story goes from bad to worse.
>>95857583I dont even like adventure time but im digging this idea.
>>95857583can you elaborate for someone who hasn't watched the series since like 2012?
>>95857571I don't know how.
>>95857583I mean, discovering how the world ended is part of it. One guy was already thinking of wanting to discover how the world ended just to end it again, that does kinda fit, we can also pay with the fact most pokemon may not even know the world has ended. As would the discovery that whatever ended the world is not over and just sleeping, waiting to finish the job. We have options, even if this is supposed to be a reconstuction story? from what I see. We don't want to fall down into grimdark right?
>>95857616Though the story is all over the place in the later seasons, in Season 2 we were introduced to a character - the Lich. When first introduced he straight up had themes of genocide and killing people and was alluded to be from the Old War, and didn't have any comedic elements. The few seasons after heavily suggested that he was the 'final weapon,' responsible for the extinction of all life and basically turned off the comedy of the show whenever he turned up.
That idea kinda got canned and muddled in later seasons as they had no idea what to do with him after a few really strong plotlines though, he was extremely good the first few times.
>>95857634I know someone people liked it because it went all over the place but i would have preferred it to just do a straight transition.
>>95857634At first he was like the incarnation of nuclear apocalypse, with his dark powers being just straight up radiation poisoning and muations. Then it turned into a mess with the comets and reincarnations and alternate realities.
>>95857661This, he felt like a result of man's folly and had some heavier philosophical vibes to him. He felt completely out of place in the fairy tale setting and that was probably intentional - he was the last relic of the darker, more modern times of the Mushroom War.
Then they fantasy-ified him and diluted a lot of what he represented to try and make him more epic, which honestly ruined what made him so spooky to begin with.
>>95857195>>95857252Oh, I agree with that. I was just correcting the meanings.
>>95857651I think both are valid, I liked the crazy, but a straight approach would have been interesting to see too.
>>95857673>which honestly ruined what made him so spooky to begin with.As someone that liked the direction the show went in I actually aggree. It was fun to see, but it wasn't scary anymore, it was just another villain like the others.
>>95857634The Lich's introduction was straight fire. Nothing has topped the absolute tonal shift.
>>95857651>>95857677The crazy was fine, it just left the Lich with nothing to really do thematically, since he was the 'real world,' catching up to the fantasy we'd grown used to and was the culmination of the not-so-subtle buildup that the setting was post nuclear war. At that time we were sure that the old world was us, and we destroyed ourselves, and the Lich represented that, coming back to haunt the world even after we were gone.
It was good when there was no other plot, but once they got into cosmic stuff they either had to leave him behind or adapt him and he became flanderized in the process along with the Mushroom War in general. It was still okay it just wasn't all that good.
>>95857627I will probably be bringing back The Parasite as an explanation of how the reincarnators got there, and incarnating him down to the mortal scale again, but he will be unrelated to the mystery of the new world and how it ended.
>>95857703In a way they were setting it up from the start, to the point were I am sure several people went "I knew it" at the reveal that comfirmed the theories of so many. It was a cool thing, made very strange by the chaotic way the episodes are ordered, I'm pretty sure you don't get to know what happens until half a season later if you watch them in order.
So did all the characters start as Pokemon or were they human before? Or a mix?
>>95857747In the CYOA you can choose Isekai or Natural.
>>95857747I personally like the idea that Humans are straight up gone and the Pokemon have had to pick up the pieces, it gives the setting a dark bite of edge without going too over the top as the lingering question stays in our character's heads. We'd have to double down on no Humans though.
>>95857747In the cyoa? You get to choose, you cn be a native or a human isekai. Now that I think about it I don't think the isekai option specified that you had to be human before, just that you were summoned. I think we will end up with a mix of both.
>>95857764Id be fine if we agreed to that but my plan was to make a reincarnated human that has no memory but gets deja vu from the artifacts. Maybe he finds a cassette and keeps trying to figure out how it works. Now that i type it out it would be kinda like the grimgar anime/manga where one guy does woodworking of a plane but doesnt know what it is supposed to be.
>>95857764Please don't. Isekai is as much part of PMD as the dungeons are. They would be humans from a different world anyway.
>>95857747You can choose. Highly doubt any human would be of this timeline, anyways, so there shouldn't be any issues there.
>>95857786This is a lot more fun and opens more narrative possibilities.
>>95857786>>95857788Sure, Humans from other worlds inhabiting Pokemon bodies being the rarity, the Humans of this world being totally gone outside of maybe a few people who don't entirely remember what it was like, and Pokemon generally having to pick up the pieces of a missing Humanity in this world?
>>95857811Humans could be completely gone but could just have some reincarnated ones. I can work around whatever we do but thats my preference
>>95857811Uh, I never tought about having actual humans in a PMD setting. My immediate answer would be to just go with total extintion, but maybe someone wants to do someting with humans? As long as we don't get human PCs I don't mind if we have some strange creatures that the pokemon probably barely remember.
Humans don't exist here unless they're isekai'd, otherwise it's not really PMD
>>95857838That makes sense, the question is how total the Total Human Extinction Event was, since it seems like the vibes we're going for is that we're at least living in their ruins after spending so many years without them, unless I'm getting it wrong.
>>95857838If we go by actual PMD rules it's always been left very vague if humans ever exisetd in the PMD world. They know what humans are, but apparently never met one? It's always been kinda nebolous. I also assumed they didn't survive the apocalypse, that seemed to be the initial idea.
>>95857856>they didn't survive the apocalypseThey did not!
>>95857848They're *gone* gone. Nobody's going to know what a human is, even if said isekai'd human explains it in great detail. The closest you'll get is "oh so you were some kinda weird Machop?" I'm 99% confident that the only reason PMD mentions humans at all is for isekai purposes. It's only there because you, the player, are a human who's meant to be playing the game as your Pokรฉmon. It's never really relevant outside of Gates otherwise, to the point where all the worldbuilding has clearly been done around a world where humans never left a noticeable impact, so I'm going to try and stick to that idea first and foremost.
>>95857848We have options. Something that can fuck up the planet enough to kill off the humans but not the pokemon doesn't seem that difficult to come up with, humans are fragile compared to pokemon. Divine wrath is also an option, humanity finally went too far and the legends had to wipe the slate clean, but that's just me having random ideas.
>>95857835Never finding actual Humans, but occasionally finding something that may have once been Human (and has probably become something much, much worse) is probably a solid enough rule to keep it about the Pokemon - reincarnated or otherwise.
>>95857882Absolutely, this is the standard
>>95857876To be fair we're being more explicit with what Humans left behind if they made the ruins we're squatting in and techno-relics we're cobbling together, which was my understanding of the order of events. It might be that there's a general understanding that some Old Species once built these places but only the characters specifically looking into ancient history have any idea.
>>95857899>some Old Species once built these places but only the characters specifically looking into ancient history have any idea.Yes, pretty much. "Old species" is the closest there is to actual human acknowledgement.
>>95857876Makes sense. Feels like an interesting idea. It gives me some ideas for some subplot.
>>95857882And we go back to the Litch. This run is shaping up to be something very different from what it started as but I here for it. Maybe I don't have to hold back the edge too much this time.
>>95857911Would we have room for Pokemon researching Humans, providing we had a general agreement to keep it vague? I was considering a character leading a significant amount of research into the Old Species but her findings being a cork and straw board of schizobabble over anything solid.
>>95857921Edge is great providing it's not the standard. If we're wondering about how light/dark to make it we very much can take the Adventure Time angle of things being fantastical and relatively bright but with the occasional reminder - and eventual reveal of something monumentally messed up beneath the surface.
>>95857921There's been a lot more brainstorming than I expected for it, lol. I'm honestly considering starting it the thread after next or something. Dunno, we'll have to wait and see! I'm definitely brewing stuff up in the background regardless.
>>95857936>Would we have room for Pokemon researching Humans, providing we had a general agreement to keep it vague?Definitely, I think I actually made that one of the Scenarios since I'm confident that most characters would be pretty curious about it. Precursor research is a hot topic in the historical field-- the only problem is that said historical field is *really* small due to its relative unimportance. Assuming 10 PCs took the scenario and became historians, they'd make up like 1/3 of the existing field lmao.
>>95856548The first run also had a rule that made Inability incompatible with abilities that would be an improvement if removed. Here's the list if you wanna apply that rule:
Defeatist
Emergency Exit
Klutz
Slow Start
Stall
Truant
Wimp Out
>>95857950HIVEchads, we have our objective.
>>95857955Rather than incompatible, maybe change it from a drawback to a perk where you pay points to get rid of a bad ability?
>>95857950>>95857957>Comfy Pokemon Professor exploration for Human History>Delve into cool ruins, find cool treasure>Find skeletons and other sites where the ancient people died>Realize it's an apocalypse>Find It[/spoiler>Ruin everything for everyone by poking whatever hidden history destroyed the worldHell yeah.
>>95857955I saw that, and I'm thinking of modifying it so that those abilities cost -3 instead. I think they deserve a shot without their abilities, but it shouldn't give them extra points. Maybe i'll make it -4 instead so that it's like getting a Hidden Ability? Who knows
>>95857936>>95857950Former humans are going to be treated like madmen or something. I was planning for my character to have been there but not remembering and slowly connecting the dots.
>>95857971>>95857973Ah there were a couple hotfixes to the CYOA so the reason why it was just incompatible was because the first update let you change abilities for 2 points
https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/86735075/#q86736048 (i dunno if this is the final update)
>>95858035It's definitely more recent than what I've got. I'll be using this version when PMD launches, then. Thank you for linking it!
what's the appeal of pmd?
>>95858112Whats the appeal of any cyoa mp? To make a fun character that interacts with other fun characters in fun ways.
>>95858112Whimsical fantasy that doesn't quite feel right for a bunch of Humans, Pokemon can be almost Feyish and you can use your species to define a character before toying with it. I'm also drawn to settings where all Humans have died off because there's a certain melancholy and mystery it brings to the setting, which is only usually in Grimdark specifically but we're running with that, it seems.
>>95858141>using human remains to fuel human technology
I have decided. I will give the world one chance to dissuade me from using the same character.
>>95858168>Steampunk technology uses steam to power it>Human technology uses humans to power it
>>95858181I can only remember a single time someone brought back an old character and actually did something with it, wormthless my beloved
>>95858181Greenfinger would reuse characters
Another posting of the rules just to make sure they're A-OK:
>Grimbright setting.
>Mysteries are optional, and the Mystery selection is custom. See the rentry for this mp's selection of Mysteries.
>Type loss can only be taken once by dual-types. If you have one type, it cannot be taken at all.
>Point earning currently capped at 5 MP and 5 PP per character.
>Characters from previous PMD runs should take isekai.
>Isekais cannot have comprehensive knowledge of how to repair and use advanced tech. They can recognize it, but not its purpose nor its inner workings.
>Humans do not exist in any capacity. Pokรฉmon don't know what humans are, and the concept cannot be explained to them.
>!~The following abilities cost 3 MP to replace: Defeatist, Emergency Exit, Klutz, Slow Start, Stall, Truant, Wimp Out~!
>Legendary selection is restricted to sub-legendaries and mythicals. Any Arceus would need to start with amnesia.
>Canon Megas only.
Sub-legendaries and mythicals are going off of the serebii definition:
https://www.serebii.net/pokemon/legendary.shtml
I'm basically just restricting the "literal god" tier of legend because it'll be very hard to balance. Everything else is fine, Ultra Beasts and Arceus included. For Arceus, I'm going off of the Legends: Arceus thing where each actual fence-llama is just "one of a thousand pieces" of the original creator because I think that makes more sense.
>>95858181I won't care either way.
>>95858228>can't be based Groudon>can be Arceus thoMean by this, what did he?
>>95858250Pokรฉmon classification is dumb and convoluted and a headache to sort out
the Legends Arceus retcon is good enough anyways, that just makes the literal Arceus Pokรฉmon into a very powerful goat instead of "literally God you guys"
>>95858206What do you mean? That they were all dumps?
>>95858228I feel like rather than hard stating that Humans cannot be explained, we can go softer with general lack of understanding of Humans and Human-Isekai's have scrambled memories in general to keep it mysterious, go by vibe more than a rule since some anons ITT have interesting ideas on how to explore Human history while still keeping it vague.
>>95858280Then what do you mean? Because I plan to write and interact with it regardless. What does "did nothing with it" constitute for you?
>>95858267Sure, I'll edit it to that. I didn't see those concepts at first but now I know what you're talking about and agree.
>>95858260>CAN travel through time>CAN'T be a bike>CAN grant wishes>CAN'T have a sword>CAN be 1/1000th of a creator god>CAN'T be a turtleHmm...
>>95858308You can't have A sword but you can BE as sword, or have TWO sword.
>>95858308as I said, dumb and convoluted
I forgot about the time travel thing. I'm going to need to add special rules for every single mythical, won't I? sigh
>>95858325You could just put a general "don't mess with the timeline" rule instead.
>>95858228It's not a dealbreaker but I never really liked that being a random Pokemon gave you more points, are we keeping that? I can work with it either way but it always felt forced.
>>95858300>Because I plan to write and interact with it regardlessEveryone who brings back an old character "plans" to write and interact, they almost never do.
>>95858215Oops. I meant to post that this reminded me that the Gone book setting would make for a cool MP, though it might feel like a weird mix of MHA and Worm
>>95858348Gonna keep it for the sake of not bloating the rules. It's enough of a handicap considering the sheer amount of Pokรฉmon out there at this point.
>>95858356I have every time I've done it. In fact, I know I'm one of must productive people here.
>>95858378Fair. Why not Grimdark by the way? It seems like the closest to the brainstorming so far, or is this more for the Points sake so that people aren't completely missing gear/resources? No real preference either way, just wondering.
>>95858348It does feel pretty forced. But it also gives me the reason to try my luck so...
>>95858408Nta, we decided that the vibes are closest to grimbrihght than the rest.
Testing if the gallery works.
https://imgchest.com/p/o24a8vmrd7l
Can someone tell me if you can see the cyoa? It's PMD.
>>95858408>Why not Grimdark by the way?I find it needlessly depressing, especially given the fact that we're all playing as neon-colored animals with nuke powers. As one anon mentioned earlier, we settled on Adventure Time as a good gauge of tone: mostly whimsical fantasy with some grim reminders of a time before. I guess that means it kind of tilts into grimdark on occasion, but the overarching tone is much more lighthearted.
Also, yes, points. I'd like things to be even for everyone at the start, it pleases my autism.
>>95858429Works like a charm! Thanks anon.
We've done so much work on this that I'm seriously considering posting it next thread instead of waiting. Someone convince me not to please lol.
>>95858429this cyoa is dogshit but I see it
>>95858437I will give you one piece of advice, let it be your guiding light. Wait at least one more thread, judge the vibes. If worm strikes back we go into hiding and bide our time, otherwise we can start.
>>95858458pmdRATS sharing their hyena tactics
>>95858458will do master shifu
>>95858479>will do master masterWhy are humans like this...?
We need a new thread. Then this one can be chill again, even if it was pretty good the last couple hours.
>>95858260This is why I gave explicit list/power threshold in the cyoa instead of using a nonsensical canon category.
>>95858437>Works like a charm! Thanks anon.Good to know. I never did this before. But it's hidden, you need an account to make visible posts so only those with the link can see this.
For the rest, I don't know. A bit more waiting can't hurt.
>>95858543Holy shit, I'm blind. I didn't even notice that part in the original CYOA.
I DON'T HAVE TO BALANCE THIS SHIT MYSELF, THANK GOD. Blessings be upon you anon
Anything important happened this thread?
>>95858557Nta but I was wondering why you tried balancing it yourself.
>>95858563Off topic powerscaling and the birth of a legend.
>>95858571wtf anon, that's messed up
>>95858563nah, just pmd stuff
>>95858566Masochism and habit. This isn't my first rodeo in Pokรฉmon-related writing and I've had to balance it myself every single other time. I kind of forgot that other people could balance it for you lol.
>>95858563Pmd is a thing I guess and I switched to team doomer.
>>95858563We actually comunicated and planned something with no shitposting. It's a miracle.
>>95858571Geez anon, no need to break out the serious swear words. Be civil.
>anons trying to make other cyoa work
>drowned in shitposting
>pmd posters trying to make their cyoa work
>no shitposters to be seen
I'm starting to noootice...
>>95858590It'll be a thing in the thread after next if the new thread doesn't end up swarmed with Worm shitposters! I'm still not done with the rentry anyways so it'll be a bit.
>>95858588Ah, the usual combo.
>>95858609To be fair if the new thread is swarmed with Worm productivity then are we still going through with it so soon? I don't mind trying to keep longevity just don't want us to be stepping on each others' toes and accidentally killing both games.
>>95858608Yes, the shitposters only target things that gather enough attention and only appear at some times. PMD was just not considered a threat.
>>95858563I lost my will to meaningfully engage with the thread but I've been here so long that I can't let go that easily. I hope it comes back but I don't know what I'll do of it doesn't.
>>95858652get my nigga some kino OC PRONTO!
>>95858652Brother if one dinosaur rape does this to you, you need to grow stronger before braving 4chan...
>>95858645I dunno man, I'm going to base it off of vibes. If the new thread is just pure shitposting/powerscaling like most of this one was, I'll hold off on it. If it's mostly writefags and building for existing stuff, I'll also hold off. If it's none of the above, I'll launch PMD next thread.
>>95858645Nta, the assumption is that worm is a shitpost run and pretty much already dead. If they prove that's not the case I am happy for them and we can wait until a more natural death like was originally the plan. At least that's how I see it.
>>95858670I don't think that's the problem.
>>95858670That's not it. I don't know how to explain. Everything just tastes like ash now.
>>95858727I understand anon, I was just shitposting about the funny dinosaur man. It's felt like that ever since the 4chan crash.
>>95858609Nice, I'll be rewriting Tenna for the setting you post sometime tomorrow so she actually belongs and isn't just a redo - pretty solid on her being the (or a) Guildmaster of the whole 12 people researching Human/Apocalypse History, but no pressure if the timing isn't right. Looking forward to it.
>>95858727That's not to related to the thread. I think you just need to see a doctor.
>>95858748I'm probably going to rewrite mine to fit the setting a bit better too.
>>95858829Ye, fair. I liked Relic Town and the mystery but unfortunately so little got done that I feel like I can just restart and rewrite rather than trying to port them over for whatever reason. Probably not a good luck to have that little of the character invested in the previous setting though so might as well try and do a better job this time.
>>95858228Rules look good to me Anon. I will start brewing
>>95858936I was given the chance to bring the character back via isekai so I could have done that but I decided not to. I will still make an isekai but it will be a rewrite now. I also gave a chance to the world to give me something else but I rolled this so at this point it's a sign. I am decently lucky I guess but this time I wasn't searching for it. I am not sure if I will even use the points.
I don't think it's bad that the character still fits, it's a similar setting all things considered, you just need to change the research subject.
>>95858228This is less of a rule thing and more of a vague wording thing. The Evolution perk says that it costs 2 less if the pokemon evolves under level 20. How do we treat frienship evolutions, or those evolutions that can happen at any level? They can technically happen under 20, but the key is something else.
>>95859166Might just require a writefag tax and treat it as sub-level 20 honestly. Friendship evolutions are prime material for kino evolution stories so that stuff shouldn't go unwritten.
>>95859166It's for level-specific evolutions. Things like second-stages of Starters that come at 16ish, or Bug pokemon who sometimes fully evolve before they even reach 20.
>>95859185>Friendship Evolutions are counted as "evolving under level 20," but you must writefag the evolution for the discount to apply.
>>95859185Oh I was absolutely going to write for it. It's a key part of the character after all. It's one of the plot points that I didn't manage to explore, this time I hope it will go better, but it will depend on other builds too. I could use an NPC but it feels cheap.
>so close to 999
Secret-ish Hours anons, what do you want to talk about?
>>95859351Uhh... Anyone have any OC to talk about? (Not mine though, I'm too secretive)
>>95859372I've got ideas and rough drafts but no resolve to follow through.
>>95859391I can relate to that.
>>95859372i'm working on some oc that I brought up in the other thread; HP stuff in addition to the extensively aforementioned PMD setup
if all goes well the HP stuff should be out within a day or two?
>>95859414I feel an odd sense of disconnect, so I think I'll clarify in case you're a newfriend. Around here "OC" refers to WIPs of new CYOAs specifically, and not just general effortposting.
That aside, I wish you well in both the HP stuff and the PMD stuff. Hopefully you and the other anons have a lot of fun.
>>95858763Nah, my life is the best it's probably ever been irl, and the threads have been mostly abysmal.
>>95859391Give me the deets. Let me encourage you.
>>95859437>"OC" refers to WIPs of new CYOAs specifically, and not just general effortposting.I figured, but I didn't really have much more to say on my OC that hasn't already been said and wanted to give your prompt an answer. Sorry lol.
>>95859439I mean, you're the one who said everything tasted like ash. I just hope you don't start smelling burnt toast as well.
>>95859468That's fair. I just figure we've got a lot of newfriends lately and it pays to keep them in the loop. Wish I could say more about the HP and PMD stuff, but I'm not in either of those bandwagons, so...
>>95859449I've got a dozen folders of multiplayer cyoa ideas on my google drive, most barely past the brainstorming stage. I don't even bother putting down most of my new concepts because I lose interest and motivation so fast. I wouldn't even know what to give for details, I've got more unfinished projects than anyone.
Most of them are legitimately shit, though
>>95859372Since no one wants to share, I guess I'm still here (gun school anon). Not much to update, got distracted by stuff and have been stuck on what to rewrite.
>>95859488Sorry, I shoulda said NTA. I meant that I can relate if he meant the recent MPs and thread activity "taste like ash."
>>95859508Seems like a struggle. Have you managed to have any fun in mps lately?
>>95859506Well then I hope one seems so cool to you that you one day follow through with it, even if you think everyone else will call it ass.
>>95859536I think the most recent one I joined was SC? That feels like a long time ago by now. What about you, anon. What's got your interest, or what have you been working on?
>>95859544Thanks anon, I hope so too
but I doubt it
Gotta interrupt the doomer party for a second.
Anons, what do you think you can do to enjoy this place and our MPs again?
>>95859617Effortfag! Contribute to the MPs that haven't died yet, focus on those. If you see a concept you really like that's gaining traction, stick to it like glue and make sure it doesn't die. Even if it stops being posted, post it yourself and keep it alive. During a period of nonstop change and nothing sticking, stability through persistence is of utmost importance.
>>95859372My idea for OC is a custom robo/medabots/megaman.exe style setting where you're a normal person, but get to design your fighter
Would anons be interested in that or is the concept of having to rely on a separate being to fight for you not appealing?
>>95859755Isn't this really similar to that monster partner cyoa that's currently being developed?
Anons seem interested, but you're getting beaten to the punch.
>>95859766>Isn't this really similar to that monster partner cyoa that's currently being developed?Couldn't tell you, I don't know what that is. But even if they are similar, mine is just in the idea phase anyway.
>>95859755Some anons have thrown a similar idea around in the past, and I'm very interested in one. I even have a similar draft, but more inspired by Busou Shinki and HoiHoi-san
>>95859617Enjoyment hasnt factored into it for a while kek i just get the itch to write or get some cool build idea n push it out
>>95859560SC was pretty fun. Shame it trickled out like that. These days I try out new MPs (MHBW and Worm), occasionally think about doing more for MHA, and slow cooking OC in the background... Sounds like a lot when I put it like that, but I get very little done.
>>95859824Well, if you ever make yours, I'll definitely play it.
>>95859755>Would anons be interested in thatPersonally not. I hate minion builds that can't anything by themselves, I can make an effort when it's more 50-50 or it's more of a transformation but having a cool robot while cool is kinda boring for me. I would rather play as the robot. But in general there seems to be an audience.
>>95859896>SC was pretty fun. Shame it trickled out like that.Honestly think it can easily come back once PDF's are allowed on the site again. I know nothing is stopping people from doing it now but it feels different when it became one super trimmed down post.
>>95859994True. Doesn't feel the same as a stub.
>>95859896>>95859994>>95860063Got cool SC stories? I managed to miss all of it.
>>95859617I still enjoy this place, it's the MPs that I don't like. MHA is resting so I kinda left it in the background of my mind as well, until HP randomly started there was nothing else for me. Now I plan to put in the effort for HP and PMD when it starts. I just like writing and interacting, I like the random connections that form between builds without meaning to, I like building on those connections and discovering more. I guess the one thing I could do better is discuss things more in the thread.
>>95859641Well, that is how MHA survives. We could try it, I just tend to not be there when the thread changes and I would probably mess up the posting process somehow.
>>95859994It will take a long while before that, if it ever happens. Were you planning for a revival or a fresh run?
>>95860071It's hard to describe... It's not like the mp as a story had anything amazing pop up, but the thread discussion was extremely fun and active, too a degree we haven't had in an mp in a very, very long time.
>>95859896>Shame it trickled out like thatA lot of stuff happened that kind of stopped its momentum. It really feels like bad timing rather than properly petering out. I would've loved to make more stuff for it too. MHA is cool too, but the quirk laws and needing to be a good student due to recent events snuffed out a good amount of what I wanted to write.
>and slow cooking OC in the backgroundIt is OC hours. What do you have now? Still working on the portal fantasy or something?
>>95859897It's only a rough draft of the sections. Stuff like robot class that determines weight capacity and part comparability, or the ai generation that determines the independence / intelligence of the robot. I've been debating on whether to add some light master customization like being a salary man gives you more points, while being a hobbyist unlocks more upgrades, etc.
What do you have for yours, and how are you going to customize your fighter? What do you have at the moment, and what are you planning to add?
>>95860093>MHA is cool too, but the quirk laws and needing to be a good student due to recent events snuffed out a good amount of what I wanted to write.Personally I'd say don't mind it too much. I'm sure Orochi's still out being a gangster, Inigo's crew is still doing under the table stuff, etc.
>It is OC hours. What do you have now? Still working on the portal fantasy or something?Same thing is before with the two clans of martials and casters who can fuse together. Slowly making changes here and there. Nothing really ready to throw at the thread yet though.
>>95860093>but the quirk laws and needing to be a good student due to recent events snuffed out a good amount of what I wanted to write.Nta but what? I'm pretty sure plenty of builds are still being kinda delinquents, what did you want to write that would be too extreme?
>>95860112>Same thing is beforeAh, right. How many branches are there for martials and casters? Like, are there different schools of magic, while martials have different fighting styles / combat doctrines? I kind of forgot how the fusion works.
That and pathfinder if I recall? Are you mostly focusing on one, or are you making small changes to your projects every once in a while?
>>95860116>I'm pretty sure plenty of builds are still being kinda delinquents>I'm sure Orochi's still out being a gangster, Inigo's crew is still doing under the table stuff, etc.Wasn't the dorm very strict, and handled by a human lie detector? Even then, I wrote myself into a corner due to the character originally coming from the normal batch. It didn't make sense for her to do risky stuff while Shiketsu was tightening down due to the attack. It's not really much. Just sneaking out to do vigilante stuff and using her powers regularly for travel.
>>95860252I mean, we have a precedent of it happening with other new 1-D students, Lixdite just goes wherever he wants with his wings and gets in trouble because of his aura, even if to be fair if he was asked he would not consider that rulebreaking, the advantages of being unhinged, lie detectors don't work. Other students also do stuff, the security may be increased but they can't keep track of everything all of the time.
We have an actual cannibal and a an active villain too, if they can hide that from the dorm manager then Ichigo can sneak out and do stuff, I assume this is about her unless I missed another student that was originally from the normal class.
>>95860252>Ah, right. How many branches are there for martials and casters? Like, are there different schools of magic, while martials have different fighting styles / combat doctrines? Hmm... I guess? Everyone certainly has different powersets even among the same type of build, and that would in turn lead to different styles of using the gifts that they have. There isn't an explicit way to customize fighting styles or schools of magic however.
>I kind of forgot how the fusion works.I'm not even sure I ever gave a proper explanation of it. It's not too complicated though. An exponential power boost and the combined abilities of both parties.
>That and pathfinder if I recall? Ye. I'm mostly focusing on one WIP at a time. Pathfinder would likely be the next one on the stack if nothing else happens.
>It didn't make sense for her to do risky stuff while Shiketsu was tightening down due to the attackPersonally I'd rely on third party interference for that. Maybe one of her senpai can show her the ropes to being a legally questionable student. Maybe someone or something forces her hand so she has good reason to break the rules. That aside, I can see how having an extra narrative barrier to climb over is annoying to deal with.
I predict we will have a successful Overchud run by end of year.
Check'em.
>>95860419>Everyone's race is skeleton>Not even evolutions of skeletons. Just regular skeletons.
>>95860299>>958603081-D is continuing the legacy of 1-Delinquents more than I thought.
Anyway, it's less of a deal than I thought it was back then. The question would be when to work on it when MHA is mostly in the background for now. I don't know how many of 1-D, or even 2-D are still here. Having her be trained in delinquency by one of the 2-D would be a neat way to connect to the other classes, though I'm a bit worried about imposing on the main character class as the first bit.
>Everyone certainly has different powersetsWhat are the sections again? Is it more like making one centralized quirk for them to use, but flavored as caster / martial, or is it more like picking powers from a list?
>I'm not even sure I ever gave a proper explanation of itI think you posted a rentry of it, but mostly focused on the lore rather than the mechanics. I've probably lost the link in an old laptop somewhere. Can caster-caster or martial-martial fusions work too?
>Pathfinder would likely be the next one on the stack if nothing else happensWhere does Angel Eyes DLC fit into this? Are you still in contact with that other anon?
>>95860436Nobody's here, anon.
It's just you, and the voices.
>>95860436Who ru. i thought it was just lixdite anon talking abt mha
Who's gonna make the hottest build for PMD?
Running out of bait topics here
>>95860451Follow the trail. I didn't really mean to focus on MHA, but here we are.
>>95860476Oh. normal batch n powers for travel. guess i shd wander thru the 1d powersets then
>>95860436>I don't know how many of 1-D, or even 2-D are still here.I wouldn't worry too much about imposing. Can't imagine anyone would actually mind it. Timing is harder though since MHA's so quiet. Could just work on it a bit here and there and then keep it in your pocket for when things pick back up?
>Is it more like making one centralized quirk for them to use, but flavored as caster / martial, or is it more like picking powers from a list?Across several drafts it's been both at different times... And currently it's both at the same time. Martials have a centralized ability and casters are more like picking powers from a list. Hopefully it helps the two feel distinct and fresh, as opposed to making one mog the other... Time will tell, I suppose.
>Can caster-caster or martial-martial fusions work too?I think I did give the link, yeah. Anyway, they don't by default but there's an option that can change that.
>Where does Angel Eyes DLC fit into this?I generally considered myself a helper for that rather than it being mine, so it'd be outside the stack... Sadly the other party seems even less motivated to work on WIPs than I am, so it seems to be in purgatory. Perhaps I'll adopt it if I ever clear up some of my backlog.
>>95860471Isn't Magmar or whatever the lava snail pokemon was called hotter than the sun?
>>95860490Not really for travel like you think. I'll just save you the trouble and say that anon guessed right, it was Ichigo.
>>95860508I think we can safely say that pokedex entries are sometimes exagerated. But a pokemon made of lava/magma it probably still very hot.
>>95860519Based. She's one of my favorite freshmen.
>>95860519THx. hope 2 see her in more writefags in the future
>>95860519I'm curios now, how does she use her powers for travel?
>>95860502>could just work on it a bit here and there and then keep it in your pocket for when things pick back up?Sure. It's not like I'm known to make things quickly. Not very confident in my characters, but it seems some people like her.
>Hopefully it helps the two feel distinctMakes sense why you'd do it like that. There's not much you can do about balancing two different system, but you could skew them a bit to be towards different combat roles so they don't have to compete that much.
>they don't by default but there's an option that can change thatNow I'm curious if mixed classes exist like spell blades who can fuse with either, but the fusion only has access to either half of the spell blade's abilities compared to all the abilities of a mage or fighter.
>Sadly the other party seems even less motivated to work on WIPsThe sad state of slowcooks.
>>95860529>>95860534Glad you liked her even if I didn't do much with her yet.
>>95860562Stuff like making a clone to boost her up, or to extend her reach with a human chain in case the jump wasn't high enough. Something like early Naruto's shadow clones if I didn't hallucinate how he uses them.
Should I make a new badge? I am not sure the old one works anymore, depending on the lore of the setting it may not have the same meaning.
>>95860668>Sure. It's not like I'm known to make things quickly. I wish you fortune in writing then. (And I happen to like her too by the way).
>you could skew them a bit to be towards different combat roles so they don't have to compete that much. That's the hope anyway.
>Now I'm curious if mixed classes exist like spell blades who can fuse with eitherThe option to fuse with your own group is a little bit like that, actually. Just instead of a 50/50 split it's more like 98/2. Probably won't make a 50/50 split a thing however. Lorewise fusion is powerful because you're mixing the two. So if someone had proper access to both systems, they'd be too powerful as an individual character.
>The sad state of slowcooks.Indeed.
>>95860668>Something like early Naruto's shadow clones if I didn't hallucinate how he uses them.I don't think you did, he kept using them like that for quite a while actually, even in shippuden he still used them I think. Anyway, cool thing, she has her own little team to help.
>>95860698For PMD? I don't really remember what design was chosen last time. Probably should wait to see for when the MP starts and see what the setting finalizes as.
Since the main thread losers are speculating about Traveller -
What cyoa do you wish we'd do an MP on?
>>95860698Yes. Everything should be new so it doesn't feel like a rehash.
>>95860731Yes it's for PMD but it has a differnt meaning. I am tired and forgot to elaborate. As part of his backstory my character had an old badge, from an old version of the guild, because he was from the past. I was wondering if I should keep that plot point, he would still be from the past before the apocalypse without memories but I am not sure if there even was a guild back then. Myabe it's a still untouched part of worldbuilding.
>>95860749At this stage I'm only looking forward to new OC. We've done most of my favorites, and what's left is stuff like Dawn of a Demon Lord that I just can't see as an mp.
>>95860771But it is mostly the same character, that's the whole point, I would not be bringing it back otherwise. The badge thing is more to adapt it to the new setting. It's a soft reset not a complete one.
>>95860749According to last thread, blood and wires or mushoku would be among the choices. Ultimate card game would be a neat yugioh like experience.
>>95860749It may be a strange choice but, One of the Icyblades ones, I think that's the name. They have gamelike sytems and always feel incomplete, so hopefully we would be able to flesh out the world a bit more and have a better catalogue of skills and classes to choose from. I know it will not happen, but I think it would be fun. Of course we would gor for one of the SFW ones.
>>95860749I still want to do a real JJK run...
>>95860793Blood and Wires seems cool.
MT feels like it'll just be anons maxing caster or martial, picking one of the three skills to max, and then running out of stuff to do with their physical gods.
>>95860725>Lorewise fusion is powerful because you're mixing the twoSpeaking of lore, how is being a caster or a martial determined? Are you just born into the clan and you can't do a spell without midichlorians? How does society view the clans?
>>95860727>she has her own little team to helpThat is the intention. She can't win compared to other quirks in her class, so she has to rely on team work to reach their level.
>>95860774>I am not sure if there even was a guild back thenthere was not
>>95860839I see, I will scrap that part then. I had a feeling that was the case.
Good night, anons. Push it to 1k for me...
I hope we at least finalize the rules for pmd tomorrow. I wanna make my build while i got some free time
>>95860837>Speaking of lore, how is being a caster or a martial determined? Birth and bloodline. Sometimes if the bloodlines mix you get someone with teeny bit of the other, but most of the time you get one or the other even if the parents are a caster and a martial respectively.
>Are you just born into the clan and you can't do a spell without midichlorians? Assuming you aren't a mage, you'd have neither the function to cast spells nor the resources. (I.E. even if someone somehow channeled magic energy into your body, you still wouldn't be able to cast spells. Same logic applies to the martials.
>How does society view the clans? They were mortal enemies around 200-ish years ago, but currently they get along great. Enough so that people don't even blink at the idea of marriage between the two. Both clans are also more or less a form of nobility. I.E. there's also some regular humans around in large numbers. Considering that the two clans literally need to cooperate in order to be stronger, it's more than likely a political agenda to keep that relationship strong.
>>95860903I think theyโre just about finalized. Given how the current thread is going, Iโll probably end up posting the rentry and the CYOA stuff when the next thread dies, so I guess maybe tomorrow afternoon given the pace weโre going at.
>>95860903Mechanically I think we are done right? Unless we need some chnages because of the lore, but the anon taking care of that said that it would be better not to bloat the rules so I doubt that.
>>95860912So what you are saying is doing my best to push the next thread early. Hmmm i can make some prompts
>page 11
The end approaches! Quick! 7 more posts!
I like anons and want to do fun stuff with them!
I do too! I also want to get this thread to 1000 replies!
I like anons and want to play naruto with them.
Last for eternal damnation
We won... Now what happens?
>>95861004Now we go to 2000.
>>95861013Youโre a madmanโฆ
>>95861013I think even if we all post exactly at the 1 minute cooldown mark constantly, we wouldn't make it in time...
...But I like the way you think!
Honestly, if by the time I wake up tomorrow the new thread is still a wasteland, maybe itโd be best to just put up PMD. I only really need to do the finishing touches anyways
>>95861026I hope it works out. I'm not really into PMD, but I'll celebrate any mp getting off of the ground and thriving.
>>95860908>Birth and bloodlineMaybe this was the FE fates MP we were looking for. Is there any aesthetic difference between the two clans that you've thought of? Joking aside, Some greater clan politics would be interesting if we're locked into being either clan. Would that mean that everyone is around second cousins with each other even if they mix blood with outsiders?
>Same logic applies to the martialsSo outsiders might be able to learn a technique, but there's no point since they can't channel mana / warrior spirit? How can normies compete if ever the cans decide they want to take over the world?
>it's more likely a political agenda to keep that relationship strongI wonder what plot hooks you have if this is the context we're being introduced to. Is there some larger threat on the horizon? For whatever reason, it largely reminds me of the feel of musou games.
