>>95880402Cover is Hololiveโs parent company, but I donโt remember them doing anything official with GW, as far as I recall, a 40k reference made its way into the predictions for one of Baeโs outfits, there were talks among them about doing a Darktide stream that never went anywhere (this is a common fate for HoloEN FPS collab streams), a few girls played SM2 when it came out, and Mori did a model painting stream.

The characters are still here, Hakos Baelz, but she's had a lot less emphasis on the chaos side, which is ok because at least we got a cute idol out of it.

I can't soup my guard with my sisters anymore. My 4e army was guardsmen guarding basilisks that sat in the back while sisters in immolators ride around contesting objectives. I could do the same thing with kasrkin in chimeras but I love sisters. I could also do the same thing with sisters and replace the basilisks with castigators, but again it's not the same. I liked the soup rules back then.
I bought a bunch of the new sisters stuff so now I have two full armies instead of one soup army.
>>95880489Highlighted some infantry and heavy weapons squads today.
>>95880578That makes perfect sense. I guess the question is whether Cover or GW is more incompetent.
>>95880281Cypher goes so far beyond ridiculous he wraps back around to being really cool again. It's bullshit you can't take him in Imperial armies anymore. Also his datasheet is one of the funniest in the game. His melee weapons are just his pistols because he does gun karate. Also the old model mogs the new one. Update on my spider hormagaunts. I had to take a break due to wrist pain, writers bruise for 8hours of scraping flashing (at least 8 hours), and I went and did a final pass just now to get another 2-8 minutes per model to finish posing legs, flashing I missed(was tired) and such.
Plan is I am going to cover the legs and abdomen in thick paint to smooth the details so they look more chitanious...
The flashing I had to remove made the fuzzy look really shitty. I knew what I was getting into, but I had no idea I was going to have to pin every model to a doubled up base for structure. This total project of 120 hormagaunts probably has taken me 30-40 hours by my guess so far.
I think the time I had to take to make these models ready was more effort than a normal 40k model. I thought time was saved but it really wasn't.
I'll poke at the ryans leaper models next!
(I may modify the neurolictor models to look more psychic)

I don't get why some are so adverse to skill trades. There's tons of situations like home repair or construction which need them. I thought it was bullshit so many headed to university. Those lying parents I've told over and over but many care more about their prestige and having a kid with a degree than the wellbeing of their child.

>>95881650Back in the 50s-70s you didn't need a college degree to be a tradesman so it became a stigma that not going to college directly led to being a tradesman.

>>95881649>Plan is I am going to cover the legs and abdomen in thick paint to smooth the details so they look more chitanious...I think you would have a much easier and faster process if you picked up some.uv resin or uv nail polish and got a small uv flashlight from amazon. It'll allow you to paint the resin onto the surface with a shitty paintbrush, let it lay flat for a few minutes and then and then cure it in a couple seconds so it doesn't droop or sag while its drying. It would be much more controllable as well
>>95881719If something has precision and they allocate the attacks to a character, those attacks don't spill over into the bodyguard once the character is killed do they?
A typical game of 40k really fails to capture the feeling of fighting an epic battle once you realize that you're fighting over an area that is only roughly a little larger than an American football field. And that's if you play on a 6x4 table. The game claims to be 28mm scale which is roughly equivalent to a 1:60 scale. That means a 6'x4' table would be a 360'x240' area if it were a real battlefield. An American football field is 300'x160'. Doesn't make the battles feel very epic knowing that I'm fighting for such a small piece of territory. It also makes current army sizes make no sense. Over the years the game has gradually increased from a platoon size game to pretty much a company sized game. Fighting over such a small area with a platoon makes sense, but why would any military commander dedicate an entire company to seize such a small part of the overall battlefield?
If there's a point I'm trying to make with my rambling here, I guess it's that the game either needs to be scaled back down to being a platoon sized game (the ideal solution) or the standard playing surface should increase to better reflect an area that a company sized element would be expected to either take or defend.

>>95881694My chemistry teacher was right. He asked lots of us why we didn't go for an apprenticeship and why so many of us aimed for college. He too said there's work everywhere and even then I knew AI wouldn't advance so far to get robot carpenters within my lifetime and any comp-sci position I'd get is easily outsourced to India or I wouldn't get one because even then I knew entry-level was a joke. My reasoning was little more than
>My parents won't shut up and I fear for my life. At least dying on the streets in a few years with a worthless degree prolongs my life. The worst mistakes I've ever made were due to my parents, big and small, and I knew they were outdated. They also suck balls at convincing in any way but shrieking until I do whatever they say to get them to shut up. Honestly, some of the worst arguments I've ever heard came from them to the point I had times I did the reverse for no reason other than to spite the insults to logic they spew.
>>95881754The most you'll manage is a Total War game if you don't want players unhappy they're dealing with a table too huge or too many units to move.
>>95881758You don't want to see my nudes. I'm a middle-aged fat ass.
>>95881754There are some people who set up huge tables to play on for epic games. But the reason that's rare is that its just a bunch of work. Even the historicals guys who make big gynasium sized boards have to simplify their ruleset and only come together to do it once per year.
>>95881760The forge world line of krieg sucked ass dude

>>95881423I feel like it's more like cavalry than a vehicle but what the heck, I'll allow it.
>>95881754All points need to increase 50%, make armies smaller
>>95881773Not an argument. A true refresh would mean GW would have kept those kits and just made better versions of them. Instead, over the past decade, the Guard has gone from having almost as many kits as space marines to now being down to just 67. And of those 67, even more are about to get axed since the 10th edition Guard codex moved a ton of stuff to Legends, which we all know is the first step to being phased out of the game completely.
>>95881754the ground scale is completely abstract to the point of being nonexistent
weapon ranges and movement simply reflect what priestley thought was appropriate for the average table size
>>95881798The weapon ranges are fine though. Yes, realistically the guns themselves would be able to shoot much further, but if you look at the average ranges that real world armies engage each other at and scale it down to 28mm scale, it lines up pretty well with the ranges they assign to weapons in 40k.
>>95881725Sorry, I forgot the npc faction existed for a moment.

>>95881797good, fuck your NPC faction and your victim complex
>>95881432All things considered Tzeentch hasn't really had a major model update since GW started their more mixed gender units policy. Wait till another new tzaangor or acolyte unit comes out and see what they do, if they have no women then GW is doing it for a reason.
It's cool that plague marines can be run in squads of 7 and it's actually the optimal way cost-wise. I know it's because the box brings 7 marines but it's still a neat touch that there's a reason to do so.

>>95881843Name another army that has had most of their sub-factions eliminated like the Guard has. The Guard used to have 11 sub-factions and now only have 3. So the Space Wolves and Blood Angles lost a few models? Cry me a river. At least they still exist.
>>95881754But that is what 40k has always been.
This isn't a mass military battle to decide the fate of entire worlds. It's too clashing combat patrols. It's a vanguard unit striking at an enemy's least guarded flank. The forlorn hope breeching an entrenchment.
Epic was the massed battles game, which came back in HH flavour.
>>95881853>it only counts for my guys because I say soThe childlike mentality of guardfags never ceases to amaze

>>95881868You need to have a point and not just toddler-tier crying for me to be able to refute it
>>95881854Try to read the entire post. Your point doesn't hold up when you consider the current state of the game. A company sized element is not just a "combat patrol". And a company sized element would not be sent to fight over such a small area.
That's why I said the game should either be reduced back down to platoon sized games or the table size should be increased. But you obviously didn't read that far because you have the attention span of a fucking hummingbird and stopped reading after the first sentence.

>>95881833Wrong, now that their shooting means they cause afflict, the optimal PM squad is 10 guys with as many guns (particularly plasma guns) as you can fit.

side note: has anyone else gone through the struggle to upgrade the plague marine champion's plasma pistol to a plasma gun? I had to use another model's plasma gun, but his was set up to use two hands, so I had to shave one of the hands and fingers completely off to get it to work. you also can't equip two bubotic weapons + two heavy plague weapons in a squad of 7, plus the blight launcher, without doing some creative workarounds. this kit is cursed.

>>95882024If you go for a 10 man PM squad you probably want them to deal some damage and get them some units and even shooty plague marines are up close beasts (they work best within 12'') and you can still pack a few heavy plague weapons. >>95882375marines were never underscaled, it was only ever guardsmen who were overscaled
>>95882446experienced used warhammer reseller here. some ground rules
1: NEVER sell for less than 60% MSRP PLUS shipping. warhammer shit retains its value very well, even in mediocre condition. unless it is literally missing parts scrap, dont go lower than that. factor your shipping into the price and if you are shipping more than $100 of models, make sure to buy the insurance, package them well, and photo document the models raw, packaged, and then the sealed package condition before you hand it off in case you need it for insurance purposes (this is mostly for army level sales where $500+ is on the line)
2: routes of sale. FLGS will 100% rip you off. do not sell to a FLGS. it is in their interest to pawnstars you so they can make a buck. personal recommendation is either facebook swap groups or the miniswap subreddit. those are hte routes that will give you the biggest cash return, but its a little riskier and you will have to frequently repost your sale weekly. use paypal goods and services, it offers some buyer/seller protections. do not accept any other payment method whatsoever, anyone suggesting otherwise is a scam. ebay is a more secure route where you can also leave your listing up indefinitely till it sells, and in my experience has a higher success rate, but they also take a 15% cut of the sale, so factor that into your price.
3: do not accept requests to split a miniature collection. people will pick out the good stuff early and you will be left sitting on the models nobody needs or wants for months. sell everything together in relevant collections as a single lot. this will also save you a ton on shipping costs
>>95882474The army box was a fucking flop dude. No one bought that shit, it was horrible. So yeah, itโs going to lead to the faction being white scarred

Why do you care if somebody changes it?
>>95883036Lack of hope is what makes things grimdark. Giving the Imperium a power boost goes against that.
It would've been more in-line with the setting for the Imperium to balkanize upon the Great Rift's formation and Guilliman's return, and also a perfect hobby reason for Imperium vs Imperium battles that happen so often on the table due to the popularity of Imperium factions. I mean, Adeptus Titanicus literally made up the Horus Heresy to justify only having Imperial Titans in the first boxed set, it only makes sense to give people more good reasons for Imperials to kill each other
>>95883041>Lack of hope is what makes things grimdark, retard.Oh ok, I guess that means anytime some guard general or whatever comes up with a plan then 40k is noblebright then.
Good to know.
>>95883064Small scale stuff is fine. Galaxy scale hopeful plans that can feasibly be pulled off? Hell no. It's part of why Rick Priestley is rightfully fucking assmad in all the interviews where he talks about modern 40k raping the setting he originally wrote, that sort of shit just shouldn't be a factor in 40k
>>95883059>Giving the Imperium a power boost goes against that.GW gave everyone a power boost.
And if you actually read any of the new material you'd know that the Imperium is more fucked than ever and Cawl and primaris have literally changed fuck all.
Even Guilliman's reaction to the Imperium and being forced to lead it (no other actual alternative) is basically pic related.
>>95883059>>95883072So the galaxy just never gets better and only constantly degrades with no improvement? That does not seem like a good long term plan for this lore.
>>95883072I thought Rick Priestley was more upset about characters and factions traveling from one side of the galaxy to the other in relatively short periods of time, alongside the metanarrative existing in general, than anything having to do with hope?

The Rift is constantly expanding and every year it is eating up more and more planets into the Warp despite Cawl's best efforts. This is rulebook and codex lore btw.

>>95883078That's what made the setting such a goddamned compelling sandbox to play in for 30 years, anon. That's why people liked 40k from 1987-2017. It's why the Imperial Armour books are the fucking peak of 40k sourcebooks. It's evocative. It's unlike most other major sci-fi IPs. It makes it stand out, and it's the perfect setup for a wargaming hobby.
When people asked for plot progression on this board before the changes were introduced, they weren't (usually) asking for that to change, they just wanted the setting to stop shoving every new bit of fluff into 999.M41. They wanted to see loyalist primarchs returning as broken shadows of their former selves who the Imperium would try to crucify, and that's even hinted at having happened before with the mysterious "War of the False Primarch" conflict existing. They wanted more opportunities for hobby, a bigger sandbox so to speak.
And that's not what we got.
Isn't closing the great rift just a reset to the pre-8th status quo

>>95883112THIS. People wanted plot progression so they could have more opportunities for Your Dudes goodness. We wanted something like the Eye of Terror campaign from 3rd edition, but done repeatedly, with Your Dudes affecting what happens next, who wins, who loses, etc.
Well, we got the plot progression part, but now Your Dudes take a backseat to the special characters, mainly superhero-like primarchs to whom Your Dudes are but a pale shadow in comparison to. This is nothing like the Eye of Terror campaign, this is more like fucking Warmahordes. And I fucking hated Warmahordes.

>>95883153They're not going to survive, that used to the point
>>95883164>It is. No, it's not, you're running in circles.
Why do you have a height complex for marines?
>>95883166It's a 40 year old franchise if they followed this the imperium would have already lost and the game would be over.
>>95883153>it just sounds like you want the imperium to canonically lose after a couple decades of eating shitWe didn't want the setting to end, we just wanted more battles to fight in. More global campaigns where our decisions actually affect the metanarrative. You know Helldivers 2? Like that, but in tabletop form.
And yeah, eventually the Imperium would eventually lose because all lore pointed in that direction anyway, and that "raging against the dying of the light" is what makes the Imperium so charming to begin with. Maybe even have it fracture or something, that'd be awesome.
One of the better examples of the sort of thing fans wanted was the old 50k fanfic from 2010. Wasn't perfect, there's some complete retardation written into it, but the general direction is awesome and what we expected from any sort of plot progression. Hint: things get even darker

Here's my final answer to you because I'm don't care to waste more of your time, you must be busy.
I think marines being taller makes them cooler. Have fun.
>>95883180I guess I am glad things aren't as grimdark. Ive seen a billion "rage against the dying of the light" stories edgy shit im glad it died in the 90s. I want to see how humanity can win against the dying of the light, and making it about that means they can sell these toys for all eternity.
>>95883229No idea about the marine juice but you're going to need some metallic paint
>>95883220I think it's because the majority of the marketing (except the 10th edition trailer) doesn't depict the Imperium as being the side that is losing.
I mean, look at the 9th edition trailer for example. It's just SoB and Marines fighting necrons heroically, almost gives off the sense that things are an even stalemate or that they might pull off a win. Then you watch Pariah Nexus and immediately find out all those guys died horribly, but almost no one watched Pariah Nexus compared to the 9th ed trailer.
Same goes for SM2, which is similar to SM1 in that all the grimdark stuff is in the background while the story itself is just ultramarines stomping xenos and chaos into the dirt. Which is typical for bolter porn, so seasoned lore vets will know that it's just a small victory in an ocean of loss, but a casual fan isn't going to get the sense of "oh shit, we're fucking losing" from that.
Until the marketing is way more explicit about this, even moreso than the 10th edition trailer is, I doubt it'll change. Remember that stuff like Halo literally has "we are losing" told to the player in a title crawl for ODST, whereas secondary materials for 40k rarely do this, and that secondary or even tertiary material is the only thing casual fans consume
>>95883248>Gift him a characterHe's talked about essentially homebrewing his own guys so would a lieutenant marine count as a character?
I've also realized I need to get some primer so an 18ml vallejo primer bottle will be included as well.
>>95883240>They've only told us is, they haven't shown us thisThey've talked about this quite a lot when it comes to the Imperium Nihilus. Like many planets and systems there think they are actually the last remnants of humanity.
Many imploding into heresy from desperation, some standing stalwart, some just plain disappearing.
You've been given a big sandbox to fuck around in and do what you want. You just don't do anything with it.

But I heard good things about pro acryl that the LGS sells so maybe I can get away with it.

>>95883091>Why? They're already supersoldiers way taller than a normal humanHere's why the idea of Space Marines being "just" 7 feet tall doesn't quite work with the Immaterium-sized population:
Real-world Rarity: On our Earth today, with roughly 8 billion people, there are already about 4,000 individuals who are 7 feet tall or more, without any genetic modification. This is a ratio of roughly one 7-footer for every 2 million people.
Terra's Population Problem: Now, let's port that ratio to Holy Terra in 40K, a world estimated to house at least 10 quadrillion people. If that ratio holds, Terra alone would be home to a staggering 5 trillion individuals who are 7 feet tall or more. That's just one planet!
Space Marines vs. Tall Humans: Consider the entire Adeptus Astartes. Even with the most generous estimates of 1,000 Chapters, each with 1,000 Space Marines, the total number of Space Marines in the galaxy is only 1 million.
This means there are 5 million times more random, non-gene-engineered humans over 7 feet tall on Terra alone than there are Space Marines in the entire Imperium!
If Space Marines were merely 7 feet tall, they wouldn't be awe-inspiring supersoldiers. They'd be statistically insignificant. You could reliably find a million 8-foot-tall normal humans for each and every single individual Space Marine, just on Terra.
In a setting with millions of worlds, a Space Marine would be about as remarkable as a random police officer. Their imposing presence and perceived rarity would be completely undermined by the sheer number of naturally enormous humans.
Also, that would mean that Space Marines are chosen in infancy in the lowest tiers of humans genetics if they are only 7ft AFTER undergoing the transformation.
>>95883460all eldar have slaanesh at the backdoor of their soul constantly scraping at their spirit essence
the more emotional, passionate, hedonistic and psychically active/close to the warp, they are, the more slaanesh consumes their soul, eventually killing them way sooner than their normal lifespan would dictate
normal eldar life ascetic lives where they practice mindfulness and control of their psychic selves, in order to not get fed on by slaanesh
harlequins relinquish their souls to the clown god, who apparently can keep his small sect of clowns relatively safe, and on top of that they give up their egos for performance roles, not too differently from how normal eldar dissociate themselves from the passions and tragedies of war by wearing the literal and metaphorical mask of the aspects of khaine when at war
exodites live on maiden worlds that possess an active world spirit, which shields them from most attentions of the warp, on top of living relatively simple bucolic lives in touch with nature
corsairs like to live dangerously and prefer relatively short lives of passion over unadventurous ones, and in any case they don't necessarily remain corsairs all their lives and I'd guess their small groups don't attract the attentions of slaanesh as much as the large concentrations of eldar in actual cities and worlds
dark eldar didn't want to give up ANY sort of hedonistic pleasure, and instead stunt their psychic powers, live in the webway where they're mostly protected from the attentions of the warp, and have found out that they can replenish the parts of their souls that slaanesh consumes by eating the souls of others extracted by inflicting pain and slaaneshi-adjacent shit on them rather than themselves.

>>95883597Don't have an eldar player around here so never once fough them but that sounds super gay. and oath of moment is considered a weaker fucking ability? Damn what the fuck am I just living under a 40k rock somehow?
>>95883548>A random boy from cadia would be more than 7' in a power armor, without any geneseed or anything.PA doesn't have platform stiletto heels, you're thinking of the Blanche deathcult assassins.
PA is only going to give you around 6" in height.

>already here is another aspect of khaine an ancient martial art with thousands of years of history and resignment behind it
>what amazing skills do they learn
>they are just really really good at using meltaguns
>>95883516big thanks! and I can't believe that I keep forgetting about the honk god. no wonder he managed to escape slaanesh.
>>95883562in the meantime I chatgpt'd the answer due to jewgle being shit, but from other anon I got moar info on other eldars as well.
>>95883604Oath's power scales on the game size. In 1k Oath is oppressive but in 2k+ being able to super reliably kill one target is great but liable to being overwhelmed by multiple targets.
IMO army rules like Pain Tokens, Battle Focus or Miracle dice are super versatile and just better in most cases because they let you put pressure on most of the board.
>>95883615basado. does anyone have a pic of a fire dragon persuading a guarding into joining dragons instead of avengers?

>>95883642>space marine "women">is just a man with a ponytailYou like troons anon we know, be a degenerate by yourself though, your shit is disgusting.
>>95881765Fuck m8 Iktf. I just wished they would acknowledge that they gave bad advice instead of doubling down. You listen to them like a good little boy and when you get stung they look at you and pull out every excuse on the book to why things didn't work out.
Now that some time has passed which aspect got the best update?
>>95883696Spiders. They're all decent but Spiders got the best.
>>95883696either spiders of scorpions
>>95883646Saturnine armor is more akin to a warsuit than a terminator armor
by using the scale comparison in this article you either adjust the marine by the crotch of the saturnine armor, which ends up having the real head sit beneath the saturnine head (that would be a system of cameras more than a real helmet then)
or you adjust by the head and end up with the marines' legs getting broken everytime the saturnine makes a step forward
https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/mv2za3uy/saturnine-armour-the-lore/
>>95883739neither makes sense, they simply give the armor to the tallest marine around.
>>95883696surprisingly they are all great because GW mainly changed the scale. I don't like how spears' exarch has a fire prism cuz that's a spectre thing and reapers' spoopy faces are lame. but yeah spiders won. also 3rd ed squid banshees and dragonish dragons have peak designs.
>>95883748>neither makes sensethe first option makes sense enough until you can post a saturnine model without the helmet
>>95883751>spectre thingjes goodwin has never accepted the spectres
>>958817541. 40k armies are so huge each faction can dump an entire company to capture such small terrain
2. line up more tables side by side and it starts to be a bigger picture
>>95882122500m divided by 60 is equal to just about 8" so infantry guns would have a range of 8" and their movement would probably be about 3-4" if each turn is around 3 minutes of combat
>>95883751>surprisingly they are all great because GW mainly changed the scaleI always remember there being a line that the reason aspect warriors took so long to update was no one knew how to make them unique, so good on GW to just relent and just keep the same already tried and true eldar aesthetic and just update it with modern methods and materials. They really didn't need to reinvent the wheel with them.
>>95883764>>95883764did he ever make an official comment in regards to spectres? because I think that he's behind 3rd ed squidshees and dragons (by diaz?) reverting to his designs from 1st/2nd ed. furthermore while they were still inthe store there was always a name of the guy who sculpted them, but never who designed them which is how I assumed that jes never had anything to do with them. also zero sketches in his book(s).
>max image limit reachedimagine spectre.jpg
>>95882416The Kasrkin models are taller than normal Cadians.
>>95883696Aww man all of these look so good. I know I turned my back to the hobby, I actually bought and painted the dorky looking ss and fd kits which is all we had at the time, but if there was any reason to come back it would be to paint some of the new plastic kits they got since then.
>>95882235I know it won't ever happen, but new ratskins would be sick
