>Thread question:So out of the 3/4 new Deepkin thingies, which is your favourite?
>>95883057 (OP)The Endless Spell. Wavebro is alright but just another basic ass foot hero, the special character is embarrassing, at least the water dragon thing is sort of cool.
>>95883057 (OP)>TQAs much as I hate that we’re getting another huge model, it has to be the Incarnate. The Ikons would be easily confused for a random non-hero without the wave they’re standing on and Mathaela is nice, but whatever.
>>95883057 (OP)Lmao the little eel bro. Love it.
And it's the endless spell. The heroes are meh and I hate the tranny pandering.
>>95883057 (OP)The wave monster.
I think the release was badly received because people expected a new unit AND spells, instead they got what's effectively a new unit but instead of spells.
>>95883169I think it's becasue the leak was "2 heroes and 3 units" without specifying those 2 heroes are part of those 3 units total...
>>95883175The worst possible outcome of the vague leak. It even caught me by surprise.
>>95883175yeah, and before that the leak was that they were going to get a proper release that wasn't just a pity hero and some spells.
turns out that meant 2 pity heroes and 1 spell.
>>95883057 (OP)If I'm being honest I don't really like any of the new stuff that much, even aside from the no new unit dissapointment. Maybe they'll grow on me, for now if I had to choose the dual sword ikon is okay I guess ?
>>95883184Some real monkey paw shit
>>95883503>Some real monkey paw shitYou think I’d learn by now to not have hope until GW shows me what’s coming but this time felt slightly different. Oh well, the 11 year pity hero streak continues for me.
>>95883535If there's one thing I've learned over the years about GW is to never have hope, ever. Let yourself be surprised by the good things when actually happen, but do not expect anything.
>>95883057 (OP)Cute art. I guess.
>>95883671Oh, I usually never expect anything. Trained myself a long time ago, but this time the rumors seemed to finally line something good up for me, but in the end it was Whitefangs vagueness that brought me false hope. He could’ve saved me and a lot of other people the disappointment by phrasing it better.
>>95883057 (OP)>"So out of the 3/4 new Deepkin thingies, which is your favourite?"3/4? What?
>>95884456He’s saying three/four. Because there’s 3 new kits but the Ikon builds 2 options, making the total additions to the roster 4.
>>95884523Oh, yes. I thought they confirmed a fourth IDK model to reveal, a leak or something.

The Cathay fomo box isn’t a fomo box. They straight uk get 42 brand new gorgeous models for $185. This isn’t fair.
>>95884550>"They"I'm building a Lumineth army out of that shit, gonna end up being half price.
>>95884550Dont really care. I do wish GW would stop selling army boxes for factions and start doing battleforce boxes, limited edition codexes mean jack squat, and the battletome itself hampers the value of the box.
>>95884591Same. Once again it feels like ToW is a favourite child with their regular stock batallion being larger than spearheads or combat patrol and more akin to a Battleforce sans character. I could cope before with them being full of old models, but the Cathay one is all new models at the same price so I can’t cope anymore.
>>95884635>Once again it feels like ToW is a favourite child with their regular stock batallion being larger than spearheads or combat patrol and more akin to a Battleforce sans character. Nah. The old ones are still kinda dogshit, and there's a reason why they wont move. Even though im impartial to spearhead ( even after playing it like 12 times at this point), being able to play it out of the box is neat, and the contents are usually still better on average of getting a gauge of a faction than what battalions offer, and for like, 20% less? The savings are also all around for aos while battalions usually nets you a 20% discount? The lowest discount for aos spearheads are usally like 19%, and thats just because one of them cant be estimated correctly due to the hero not being sold separately.
Also back to the contents of battalion boxes. There are only two worth buying more than once, wood elves, and cathay. The rest are legitimate dogwater. Even ignoring the meta, you're better off ignoring the empire box, high elves are a memetic hazard upon seeing the old spear-men, Orc and goblins is a very much nothing box, and you don't really get much savings on dipping into the tomb king and bret box a second time.
The rest are simply OKAY purchases, dwarves I guess you get a taste of all the metal you will paint, I dont know if you really want to get a second box, probably want to diversify your army, at least as much as you can with dwarves. Then for beastman, you probably have all the infantry you will ever need, also the ghorgon is the only thing you want from that kit, not even talking from meta standpoint but its just the cooler option of the two. The biggest downside to that box is gonna be the mold lines, I only mention it here because its the most fucking prevalent of all of them, maybe only tomb kings being capable of rivaling them in this department, but cleaning them up will be an awful experience.
>tldr they are stinky and you are holding a midwits take.
>>95884456Wave guy is a mini Eidelon and has 2 options
ToWfags fuck off back to /vg/ or wherever you squat

Had a fun game this weekend
You guys get up to much??
>>95884806its an extremely obvious false flagger too. I know /twg/ denizens are mentally ill but not to this extent.
>>95884818I've been slacking on both painting and playing, been enjoying chatting with my local community and getting new cool models for trades or other means. It's been pretty fun, I wound up with a couple of the god models for super cheap (even if I don't have the army, fun to hobby or use as a proxy) and now might be able to get a Kruleboyz force up and running! (once I can decide on a paint scheme)

Speaking about models and reveals... no reveals this week? :( I think 1 model per week for 3 weeks is enough for GW
>>95884818Got my RTT this coming Saturday, it’ll be a send off for Tides of Death. Trying to get my boat painted up before then, though.
>>95884899it was 40ks turn to get their pity hero revealed.
It was another mid marine, ill save you the time.
>>95884899The reveal was black templar mini
What do you want to see revealed? I don't believe they'll be showing anything more until after IDK is released, then they'll probably drop NH + foot hero on a monday.
>>95884635Dunno if all of GW is like this but feels more like the staff that work there enjoy WHFB more or when they talk about what they're working on, if it's anything not 40k then it's usually TOW. There's a lot more love put into it as well from the design team while 4th edition feels like shit produced from marketing + new player feedback.
I don't sincerely believe TOW will eclipse or replace AOS (desu I'd rather they both just eat more into the share 40k and HH has, I enjoy(ed) both games). But man they fucked 4th edition with the rush job of indexes and tomes. It speaks volumes how little people talk about playing the actual game when a new season is about to start. My regional scene is dead compared to last 3e and I don't live in a small state. I would not be surprised to see more elements of spearhead make its way into AoS in 5e.
>>95884899Patiently awaiting KO to see if they soup dorfs
When the core gameplay of TOW is
>charge
>combat
>your unit entirely flees
It'll never have a sustained player base
>>95884867yeah, I also never understood the appeal of the Item system ever. I get that people say its for the sake of /yourdudes/ but it still feels kinda phoned in. An item creation table would be cool, and its something I really want to see in aos at some point.
>>95885009Think you responded to the wrong anon but honestly I know that, the only issue I can see if GW seems to want things to be "balanced" and having a pick and mix item for generic characters as cool as that would be is something I imagine they'll try to avoid like the plague.
Which sucks, so many generic foot heroes suck a fatty right now and could use a genuine reason to be brought along.
>>95884818> Cuck circles :^(
> Fully painted and based armies:^)
Played two, won both, trying to get BR that you build your list around was ok, I really enjoy the once per game prio reroll if you have lots of drops.
>>95885101If I can ask how did the KB's do? Anything in particular you felt they did well against you?
>>95884983>I think units still regularly fleeThis console war shit is dumb and you're a retard for not even knowing how TOW plays relative to older editions of fantasy. I play both and enjoy both. You haven't even bothered to look into TOW before making a strawman critique.
>>95884876Great conversion
>>95884983It's been that way for literally the birth of the game and here we are, TOW is selling like crazy
Should I bother reading the old gortrek and felix books or should I head straight into the aos ones
>>95885134> TOW is selling like crazy...
>>95885160The older books are better
The only value in the aos ones is found when brian blessed is voicing the character in the audiobooks
if you simply want to know about gotrek's status quo, read the Lexicanum
>>95885116That's not from my games (I don't use cuck circles).
But KB suck dick and I don't fear them, at all, which their bitch tier combat units.
Also, on certain missions, shooting is fucking DEAD. You can very easily hide in obscuring terrain during the enemy turn then charge out and destroy. So any shooting based KB strat is fucked.
How is Infernoth different from the incarnates?
>>95885186Ngl, I liked Jonathan Keeble's take on Gotrek more.
Brian Blessed is great but sounds too jolly for me
>>95885259It's not, not really
>>95885259it was made before them, so it's arbitrary different
also it is smaller
>>95884818Both armies looking great anon, I don't even really like KB but damn I love the vulture model.
>>95885460What stops GW from changing its rules to be an Incarnate?
>>95885562Incarnates are sold separately for a high price
>>95885160Honestly, Gotrek is a different character and after realmslayer the specifics of his background are basically irrelevant
>>95885666I would recommend the originals. though. AoS Slayer is slop that sometimes chances upon a poignant sentence in novellas, but the originals are a great love letter and deconstruction of pulp fantasy and Gotrek is a great character that has since devolved into a Brian Blessed parody
>>95885726Also Felix is a slut that homes in on every hole. Making him funnier than either of the dry cunts Gotrek hangs out with now.
>>95885757Felix had to die probably because because sexing many women is sexist or something.

>>95885203What's the alternative to circles for objectives exactly? Also why do you talk like some guy I knew back in highschool
>>95885279I think he fits when he does his big breathy yells and his flabbergasted way of sputtering out words is fun.
>>95886055People are trying to push “cuck circles” as some kind of pejorative because they want something to be mad at. I get being displeased if the objective markers are glaring or don’t fit the style of the game at all, like using some techy 40K ones or something, but in this game control is a key mechanic you need to account for with every individual model and the alternative to not using a tool like pre-measured objective markers is wasting time seeing what model is in and what model is out. Playing by intent would be dumb here because where’s the threshold on “yeah, bro, I know the models are here but I actually want to have this many within 3.” It’s just normal 4chan contrarianism and trying to force a new buzzword.
>>95886116Nah just use a cool elaborate model you can't walk over and also have to bring everywhere with you alongside your whole army and a full set of terrain and spells and models.
>>95886055>What's the alternative to circles for objectives exactly?actual circles instead of full discs
normal converted objective tokens on 40mm bases
lamps above the table you turn on to highlight the objective areas when needed
>>95886116>if the objective markers are glaring or don’t fit the style of the game at all>ifpost one of your games where they didn't
>>95884818Also had a very fun game, tried the new paths of the fey mission from the ghb. Very weird mission, but pretty damn interesting. It felt like being the underdog was a pretty huge advantage, and the new battle tactics are a vast improvement over the old system, though the one with ghyranite where you just gotta kill the right shit felt pretty autotake, perhaps I overestimate how easy it is.
>>95886055nta but until 4th edition the approach was to measure from an objective base, it was the competitive crowd who used radius mats
imo it detracts from the game to abstract it so much. It's not capturing an objective it's stand in circle. There'd be an argument to be made about ambiguities if pre-measuring and measure whenever you want wasn't a thing I guess but it's mostly a stylistic shift to this simplified abstract mode of play. Minor and like I don't play on a nice board but if I did I probably wouldn't tolerate such things ruining the aesthetic yknow? I've seen spearhead boards with a more cohesive design; ringed cobblestone with a fountain or a tree with a fairy ring tbf
>>95884876The unpainted model at the end is a character, and it's a 5-man cavalry unit so it can string pretty far even on 0.5" coherency.

>>95886454Funny thing, he WAS originally supposed to be a globe. Unicron was based off an unproduced design from the Japanese "Microchange" toy line which is where half the original Transformers came from, specifically Megatron, Soundwave and the other ones that turn into handheld objects instead of vehicles, as well as Bumblebee and the other mini cars, which were originally meant to be based on "Choro Q/Penny Racer" toys rather than actual cars. The idea was that they were robots made by tiny aliens to spy on humanity by disguising themselves as household objects like radios and toys. Amusingly, the original Megatron toy wasn't meant to be a real gun but a piece of Man from UNCLE merchandise.
>>95884550anon, that just means gw has no faith it would sell at a higher price because no one plays dog shit tow

Haven’t payed attention to AOS or warhammer in about 6 years. What’s new? I’m thinking about getting back into the hobby a bit now that I’ve moved out and I was looking at getting the skaven spearhead box. Kinda sucks that they got rid of the $100 start collecting boxes though.

>>95887793elves are generally all assholes. Lumineth the most, I wouldnt say Teclis is okay with it, more so that he has other things he needs to attend to. Like keeping slaanesh in check. Which, I wonder whats gonna happen when the last binding is undone.
So after consulting the Faraam Set figure I got with the collector's edition of Dark Souls 2, the Faraam set is more blue than I originally thought. The highlight on the cloak is almost exactly 1:1 on the figure, and I used AP scarab green as the shadow; with a 50/50 of each for the midtone. The fur I did Paynes Grey, a dark grey, and then 50/50 grey/ivory.
I think I'm going to avoid using any washes on this model if I can. I felt like I had so much more control even if the shadows aren't quite where they're supposed to be. And it'll make me a better painter in the long run.

>>95885116They're ok. I think their biggest strength is their mobility, hob grots don't do anything in combat, but teleporting them to steal an objective and score your battle tactic is pretty amazing.
The two new warscrolls are a must, they make the army function. Your dirty tricks are really strong, but if you ever fail the roll it can completely ruin your plans, so being able to negate that as much as possible is big.
My friend doesn't run him, but I think Kragnos is really good in KB as well, gives them the burst damage the army otherwise lacks. Without him they're very "death by a thousand cuts", but they're not really tanky enough to win a war of attrition.

grim grim GRIM
>>95890628Don't worry, grogs who are playing TOW instead of WHFB already claim that the CCP forced GW to make Cathay at gunpoint and Cathay aren't 'Warhammer' because they are 'grimy' but don't you fucking DARE mention High Elves.
>>95890724Aren't grimy, even.
>>95890715Deepkin got a big monster and a named guy too
>>95890744>got a big monsterManifestations are NOT big monsters. Characters are NOT units. They are crumbs thrown to factions to pretend they're not forgotten. Where a vast amount of factions have more fucking HEROES than UNITS there is a major fucking problem and GW refuse to fucking fix this. Why don't they, you ask? GW's profit margins on characters are vastly higher than units. So GW will never do what needs to be done which is produce half a dozen new units for IDK, KO, OBR, DoK, Ogres, Fyreslayers etc etc.
So thinking about it….if Sigmarites had to hang around any elf faction, the DoK are unironically the best? Because even though being around DoK is "enriching", at LEAST they’ll generally be on your side and live in your city and not try to genocide / break your stuff / rule you. Just go to the arena, cheer, and don’t be too aggressive about justice for random murders. Other elf factions aren’t that "easy" to deal with. Also, DoK are probably the only faction who LIKE being around the lesser races — even if it’s closer to how vampires like having proximity to mortals. Basically, they’re crazy awful bitches but you CAN live with them.

>>95890744>big monsterit isn't it's the newly rebranded endless spell... which 90% of factions got two editions ago (unless you're seraphon, you know, THE magic faction, or cos, you know, the guys with variety of magic).
where are the armoured infantry? foot akhelians would look great. instead we get a hero (b-b-but two profiles!) and a named character and endless spells. then bok get their 4th deathbringer. a faction that doesn't have a big monster because they don't sell the khorogarth outside of the old starting box.
i'm sure when ko get their two new heroes and their version of endless spells, you'll be saying the same nonsense.
Still chuckling that the Alchemist Nighthaunt character is over 500 days old from rumour engine and will be their crumb hero when they get their 4th tome.
>>95890821>khorgorathHow about the fucking SLAUGHTERBRUTE thats existed since forever? The literal khorne bound giant monster, but you can't use in BoK because reasons.
>>95890759>Characters are NOT unitsThey literally are, no metter how hard you seeth at people playing named models
Also…about the Seraphon. They have the Slann, so why don’t they just….win? Why do they just cruise around spaceships and do everything BUT just win outright? Or at least provide overwhelming support in key battles? They don’t even do drive-by prophecies like the Sajuk (Homeworld), why?
>>95890852I don't give a fuck if people want to play named characters. I'm talking about HEROES. KEYWORD. Whether they're characters or generic they're not units. You cannot make an army out of 12 HEROES. I don't want armies where there are two ACTUAL UNITS copy and pasted five times with 5 different HEROES in their battalion. It's boring, looks shit and was suppose to be the difference between WHFB and AoS, that you weren't bound to spamming the same units to clear your Core %. But no, GW falls into the same trap because a $30 character is much bigger profit for them than a $70 unit of 10 models. Cheaper to make, cheaper to design, cheaper to package and cheaper to store.
So now we're at a situation where Fyreslayers have 12 (TWELVE) HEROES and 6 (SIX) units (seven if you include a WD Legend unit). That's fucking shit and if you can't understand why people are upset then that's on you.
>>95890878leader limit is gone, you can spam heroes
>>95890869The justification is that Slann are now omnipotent and can see all pasts and future paths and this overwhelms them outside of cases where they're directly involved and the path of fate is potentially in flux. So the vast majority of the time when a Slann isn't fighting in one such occassion, they're watching the future and past and everything that is happening all at once and that requires concentration not to go insane. When they find a future where their victory or defeat would ultimately push them towards total victory over Chaos do they wake up and get involved. Because they see 'well if I lose, it doesn't matter because it will hurt Chaos in 100 years time, if I win it's good because it'll hurt Chaos in 99 years time'. Same logic why the Slann didn't just use the geometric web to wipe shit out in WHFB (except in this case they were sleepy, I swear the reason was Tzeentch got mad with how the Slann early on thwarted all magic and then cursed them to be sleepy but I cannot remember or find that claim).
>>95890911Sorry not omnipotent, omniscient.
>>95890869>Or at least provide overwhelming support in key battles? They are doing it all the time
>>95890911So the reason why they don’t roll up to the next big battle and skull-fuck Chaos is because they can see the outcome and it either makes no difference or damages them in the long run?
>>95890869basically what
>>95890911 said, essentially a progression of their whfb woes where they just meditate for 99% of the time. Add on to this that despite their insane scrying and astromancing and whatnot, the exact details of the great plan seem hazy to them, either due to the eons of time they spent in the void, or the blowing up of the old world giving them frog-ptsd. So they spend milennia calculating all the possible paths they could take to lead them towards a desired outcome they barely recall. There's also just only so many slann left, and unlike the rest of the seraphon race they can't create more.
>>95890869>Or at least provide overwhelming support in key battlesThe Starborne literally 'summon' new units in using their personal Stargate Universe stargates. Sorry, realm gates. Haha. As for Coalesced, don't think they get any direct support from the ships. Also from a fluff perspective the Seraphon are 'involved' in all major events you just don't see it or hear about it. Battle of Burning Skies was only possible for an Order win because the Seraphon were fighting other Chaos armies elsewhere. Before Excelsis was attacked the Seraphon got two Slaaneshi forces to fight each other instead of the city. Shit like that.
>>95890992Couldn’t they drop Sigmar a tip on how to fix the Reforging flaw? Is that too beneath them or something?
Reminder that Seraphon were revelaed to be involved in events of BR Morathi, "fighting" Belakor off screen, so they probably do way more then you know
>>95891015Why do you assume the plan involves Sigmar fixing reforging?
Lizards aren't loyal to Sigmar/humans even if thye help them on average
>>95890983The in-universe explanation is the Slann only get involved when it's really important for them to get involved directly. It is implied that they do it only where regardless of the result it is better in the long run. There is an old fluff piece (I think from the old Terrain rulebook from 1e) where a Slann gets involved to rape some DoT and the Slann starts melting a Gaunt Summoner to death and Tzeentch has to get involved directly to make the magical reverbs knock a giant cog off a part of the surroundings and smack into the slann, killing him. It says something like the Slann couldn't have predicted that happening because Tzeentch got involved directly. So the Slann must make each personal involvement a calculated risk, thus I seriously doubt they get involved personally unless their possible death and loss helps in the long run.
Kroak obviously is an exception because he's already dead and can't be destroyed, so he can just do whatever he wants but is only a single Slann so is kinda limited to what he can do.
>>95890987I also wanted GW to do an event where a Sixth Spawning of Slann arrived. The Old Ones foresaw that The Worlde was going to fall so quickly made a sixth spawning of Slann, with an extremely powerful one to lead them and shoved it off into the void, to loop back around after thousands and thousands of years. This will allow GW to bring new slann into the setting to justify why they haven't already died yet (I believe 50% of the Slann died during End Times but I can't remember where I got that from) and it allows them to bring a Mazdamundi type Slann back. One that is actually alive and extremely powerful that isn't Kroak. But since the new Kroak and Slann models that is very unlikely
>>95891015Could, but the Slann are also totally focused on fucking up Chaos. When Chaos is ultimately defeated, the Slann will likely turn on other 'undesirables' in the realms. That could ultimately include Stormcast et al. So they're not going to help
>>95891042I bet the Gaunt Summoners absolutely LOATH these fat toads.
>>95891078I know one defineitly is...
>>95891078I think I might have confused the fluff pieces up. I'm not sure if it was a Gaunt Summoner but there WAS a Gaunt Summoner in one book that a Slann was killing and only got saved when Archaon charged the slann and the slann had to blink out and the Gaunt Summoner survived.
They're daemons so are immortal, dunno why GW was so scared to kill them.
>>95891103Didn’t one of them die? That’s why the demon dude from the underworlds team kinda looks like one.
>>95891103Aren't they kinda linked to their silver tower?
So the one Kroak destroyed is forever killed
>>95891172>is forever killedThere is a bit of fluff I think in one of the Dawnbringer Crusade that states the Silver Tower is rebuilding/reforming. They're linked to the Realm of Chaos and Crystal Labyrinth so they're basically not possible to fully destroy forever. Kroak just thought that destroying one, even temporarily, was worth it. Maybe he did it so Sigmar was forced to ask Grungni to make Thunderstrike armour?
>>95891042>I also wanted GW to do an event where a Sixth Spawning of Slann arrivedfunny you should say that, the other day i was thinking that if GW ever wanted a narrative mcguffin for another campaign book/event, a sixth spawning would be a cool and meaningful event with lots of interesting inmplications, both for the setting and from a /yourdudes/ perspective, while also not shaking up the status quo toooo much.
It's also what I'm trying to base my own seraphon around, bunch of leaderless skinks and saurus going around the realms, fighting a bunch of battles, enacting rituals, raising temples/pylons, all at specific places in specific realms along the leylines or whatever, with the eventual goal of having all this shit finally align and spawn a sixth generation slann. that's all just daydreaming at the moment though, gotta actually get my hands on some seraphon before I can work this out more
Gaunts aren't forever killed but still need time to regenerate inside Tzeenthcs ass before gettign shat back out inot the material world.
Being beaten by a mortal isn't realy helping their possition
>>95891236I wrote my own personal fluff involving Seraphon and a major event. I'll post it roughly now.
So the Seraphon realise that Eightpoints has no real 'opposite' in terms of good. So decide they're going to change that. They start gathering mountains of realmstone, stealing it, mining it, fighting people for it. They then create giant asteroid size versions of each of the realms realmstone, plus warpstone. They then go to each of the opposite realm to the stone they have. So they take Death realmstone to Ghyran, vice a versa so on. Then a slann each attacks a specific place with the realmstone and sacrifices himself to cast a ritual. Ritual completes and creates the Realm of Qhaysh that is 'above' the Eightpoints. A point where only the slann can enter due to them being the only beings that can deal with that kind of magic. They use it as a base of operations to control the leylines and shit of the realms. At that point, you could have the Sixth Spawning arrive and the new named Slann take position there.
Can then make a fluff piece where they accidentally create Realm of Dhar as well but consider it a worthwhile price.
>>95891300if you're making qaysh as opposite of eightpoints, wouldn't that make eightpoints already dhar? unless you're saying eightpoints gets extra evil as a side effect and becomes a fully fledged realm in itself rather than a nexus
>>95891300> No opposite in terms of goodWhat are you looking about? The Eight points in and of themselves aren't good or evil. Arachaon just took over the Eight points and controls it. The location isn't inherently good or bad.

>>95891263So how exactly do people get physical trophies and things from daemons and this type of thing exactly? Don't they just poof away?
>>95892075>Don't they just poof away?In 40k that was the case, but ever since Megaboss got a Bloodletter skull and the Skulls kit included Bloodletters and Plaguebearers it's safe to say they retconed demons physical bodies to be physical
However i think it's safe to assume a demon, being Warp born, isn't all that used to its physical form and can get a new body before returning to the materium, even if it takes some time.
>>95892131Good pic, this only makes me question though that does raise the question, does that imply there's a bunch of daemons who pop back in and are missing bits. So there's just a bunch of bloodletters or plaguebearers with no skulls.
>>95892131I kinda figured that it was because the realms are just so suffused with magic that it doesn't take a concentrated force of will to maintain a demon's form, just kind of a kickstart to make it.
But also Seraphon, which have also been retconned from being effectively demons of order, which was simultaneously incredibly stupid and incredibly cool.
>>95892075Because the model designers don't care about the lore and design what they think is cool.
Model designers > 'lore' writers at gw
>>95892331I mean, where would Warhammer be without rule of cool? Honestly I wish we had a few more goofy things in AoS. Having a nice mix leads to more avenues for design!

>>95892905There's enough room in the setting where Chaos Knights could exist, just in parts we don't know about yet. That's why AoS is so great, there's room for almost anything.
>>95892905Sure. They and Megas are eachothers counterparts.
>>95892912There's a run down giant robot factory right next to Hammerhal, although Agloraxi designes seam bigger and more humanoid than 40k knights
>>95892075demons don't have fixed rules
sometimes they manifest with bodies so fickle that they simply disappear into nothing on destruction
other times they manifest with enough strength to have a more physical body, which can leave stuff, this also happens when there's a lot of ambient magic saturating their forms even after 'death'
in some cases the methods of killing the demon work in such a way that they essentially trap the essence of the demon into the parts they sever and kill, a form of partial banishment/binding
in gobsprakk's case, it's pure spite and ignorant willpower that allows him to keep the hand for him instead of letting it go back to its owner

>>95887605Are you retarded? You can pre-order at every LGS. It's only a problem when they break the street date and give you the stuff before release.
>>95887605"Hey GW this shop wants to make sure their customers buy your products! No, they're not breaking street date or anything. Hello?"

>>95896492In 9th ed, GSC's Cult Ambush rule worked during deployment. Instead of deploying units normally, you set up a number of markers equal to the number of units in your army you were deploying (normally, a bunch of units were also kept in reserve) and then if you went first, replaced each marker with a unit of your choice from your list during the start of your turn. If you went second, you did this marker replacement at the *end* of your opponent's first movement phase. This was a very cool mechanic, because it meant your opponent usually had to be very cautious because they knew they were walking into an ambush, but the exact location of GSC units was very difficult to determine, and very often as a GSC player it was pretty easy to just prevent your opponent from hitting anything in their first turn because you had full information of where all their stuff when you put yours out.
In 10th ed 40k, GSC lost all of that (and their cool as fuck crossfire rules too) and became a much blander army with a retarded army rule that GW has had to spend years fixing into a somewhat passable state.

Is there any official map of the Kingdom of Azyr?
Maggotkin look pretty cracked. Dunno how to feel on rotigus being such a huge force multiplier though.

gw is reserving azyr for a future narrative development
a shame, really, 3rd edition should have been it
>>95897340They're saving it for 8th edition for the Time of Endings.
>>95897361>the end times cause the mortal realms>the time of endings causes the old world>the gods and lizards are stuck in a cycle, trying to undo chaos
>>95897340Why would 3rd edition include Azyr?
If anything 3rd should have doubled the 2e maps of Ghur, Aqshy and Ghyran instead of jsut addint details to the exisitng ones
>>95897371>Everything Old... Is New Again.>Warhammer: the New Age>A rank and flank game for AoS armies
>>95897376>Why would 3rd edition include Azyr?Because the primary narratives in the build up to 3rd revolved around the following:
>sigmar's and morathi's stopping archaon's plot to reach azyr with varanite>gordrakk building a battering ram to reach azyr and make sigmar fight again>the awakening of kragnos who really wants to kill dracothion and his spawn
>>95897397Gordrakk was running after Excelsis in 2e. He only now made it to Eightpoints.
We need a whole Ironjawz vs StD arc before Fist of Gork can knock on Azyr's doors
How much time, chronologically, has passed between the events of say the Necroquake and the Skavenblight?
>>95897433>Gordrakk was running after Excelsis in 2eNo, excelsis wasn't the target, but the test run
GW squandered this narrative massively especially because they set it up since short stories one year before broken realms even began.
>>95897442A lot shorter than between 1e and 2e.
I've heard 40 years being thrown around between Necroquske and Dawnbringer stuff, but i have no source for that and i'm not sure it makes sens with mortal characters like Van Densts (even if humans can live 100+ on Ghyran doping)
>>95897448I think they're intentionally leaving the numbers loose to avoid exactly the situation you described. They made that mistake in 40k with the Indomitus Crusade and had to roll back the clock and set it way earlier.
>>95897442The true answer is that it's however long you need it to be for you to find some space to fit yourdudes in.
Snarlboss & Wolfgit Retinue / Rippa's Snarlfangs, does anybody have the recommended colors? It doesn't show up on the app in either form...
>>95897442I seem to recall the necroquake was roughly 2 centuries after the beginning of the age of sigmar, then from it to the rite of life it was less than a century, while the era of the beast was something like 10 years
>>95897553If nothing else, there's an old GW painting tutorial for them on their youtube channel.

>>95897841I wait the day GW redesigns tzeentch horrors and makes them more in line to ephilim's dudes, an entire unit where each horror is a completely different looking freak of limbs, tentacles, eyes and mouths.
>>95898041Imagine a horror kit where you get ten models and each one is on the level of chaos spawn for customisation.
>>95898053I'd sooner imaign a box where you get 10 dudes and each one is a differt monopose design
>>95898091So then reinforcing them offers duplicates
Sounds terrible
We need a Rockgut style kit
>>95898234trolls are huge, they're not chaff infantry, gw barely bothers with giving one additional build option per model in modern kits, be real.
>>95898291As someone who recently put together the Darkoath spearhead, this is just plain false. The darkoath are definitely horde models, and each model's pose is fairly locked in in what it's going to be, but despite that they all have a ton of options to make them different. There are a bunch of head options for each body, and with most are easily swapped between bodies. All, if you do some minor cutting. They have weapon options intended for specific bodies but all weapons have the same connection points so they're freely swappable, and the fellriders and marauders have the same connection points so those kits are easy to mix and match between. The savagers require a bit more cutting if you wanna mix them with the others, but the kit itself comes with even more options.
I could easily see someone getting three or four of these kits and each one looking pretty different, especially if you start getting creative with cutting up arms and get creative swapping between the kits.
>>95898353>The darkoath are definitely horde models, and each model's pose is fairly locked in in what it's going to be, but despite that they all have a ton of options to make them different. At the end of the day they are 10 monopose models with one choice of arms and one choice of head, nowhere close to spawns or trolls.
Skull altar status = good enough
>>95898468>orange khorneInnovative
>>95898420>one choice of arms>one choice of heads. But no? Baseline, no conversion or extra bits at all, the Darkoath marauders have minimum three head choices and at least two weapon choices each (some have more), with all weapons and heads in the kit having the same connection points to make them swappable if you don't feel the need to follow the instructions exactly. Beyond that, there's full compatibility between the fellrider and marauder kits and similar but not identical connection points to the savagers. If you want to do, for example, a full unit of marauders that are dual-wielding weapons instead of having a shield and weapon, you get the bits in the spearhead to do that, all it'd take is some minor cutting and filing on the shield-side of the models. The savager kit has a lot of left-handed weapons, so it'd be easy. And that's just one example of what you could do. The only major difficulty one might have is that a lot of the models lack shoulderpads to easily hide arm joints if you wanna repose those.
Have you ever looked at the darkoath kits? They aren't chaos spawn, that's absolutely true, but nothing in the whole GW range is as flexible as the chaos spawn kit, and I'm not aware of anything from other companies that matches it either. But they're very easy to customize.

My theory is that GW is holding back the releases to put them all out one after the other in July to celebrate the 10th anniversary of AOS.
Basically they have nothing for the anniversary so they're just going to show what was programmed to be released months before. After summer it will be business as usual.

>>95900277underworld warband coming in this season of the game, release wave, maybe, but probably not, gw has too many elves to address by the end of the edition
>>95898836GW gave AoS more releases last year than 40k. This normally means the next two years get more 40k. Same shit as last time.
>>95900536Kurnothi aren't elves, as per Dawnbringer Crusade. They're 'mortals' that get infected by the thrill of the hunt and turn into kurnothi. It makes me wonder if this is why they removed beastmen. They wanted Kurnothi being some sort of morally grey/true neutral faction that just kills everything.
Actually it makes a lot of sense because all the fluff is set in Ghyran so this would make sense to release Kurnothi based on the previous fluff.
