>>95891326Thatโs never going to be used.
>>95891326What the fuck am I looking at
>>95891291 (OP)Does this count as a mech?
>>95891326The dreadnought or the fleshlight. I feel like one is more likely to be used than the other
>>95891326Why's there a picture of an ugly fat bitch covering the dreadnought
>>95891291 (OP)Hey do any of you guys have that meme reaction of the blonde space marine glaring? Adapted from a personal trainer glaring at a fat positive spokes woman or something.
Am I missing something with the TSon stratagem to make bolters S5 and Psychic?
S5 is nice but I see not benefit to making them psychic except to activate units that get FNP against that
>>95891419It's not a benefit, it's narrative. The thing that is making the bolters S5 is psychic.
>>95891400I have no clue what you're asking for. Not shitposting but reddit might be able to help you. They tend to like the meme side of the hobby more.
>>95891419isn't there a character that buffs only psychic weapons one per battle or something?
>>95891419Isnโt there another stratagem or something that makes psychics weapons have dev wounds?
Is there a xanon Chapter that has only black people in it? I don't mean Salamanders, I mean African.
>>95891498Celestial Lions iirc.
>>95891498Celestial lions maybe, but when you recruit from an entire planet with millions of initial aspirants being steadily winnowed to the east of the best, you tend to get a fair bit of phenotypical variation before they get the space daddy goo which tends to homogenize them more, but not entirely.
Post models
Just painted this, it's alright.
>>95891498GW has been putting out a lot of head sculpts with african features lately. I wonder why?
>>95891539That dude's features aren't even african.
>>95891510>>95891513Did they actually ever say that the entire chapter is "african looking" humans? Or was it just that some miniatures or artworks showed some of them with black skin and people just assumed the whole chapter is black?
Post brushes/pens/airbrushes/other tools you used to paint your minis.
This ruined brush of mine painted 1k worth of templars. I dont brushes so this bad boy did base paint, layers, shades and highlights.
RIP, you did well.
>>95891539They wont the black guys moniez too, obviously. Apparently they dont know that nerd culture is not a common thing among the african immigrants.
Finished some metal howling banshees so I now have a metal and a plastic squad for each aspect except Shining Spears.
>>95891565I used Small Base Brush, it's pretty much dead now but I painted two combat patrols with it. Got some dogshit synthetics for washes and metallics. And a size 0 Da Vinci Kolinsky brush for detail work.
>>95891291 (OP)>TQI still need to add some swamp water and dead leaves on this base but here
>>95891573Thanks, i assumed as much but i'm not following the BL releases too closely, so who knows what is hidden in some of those books.
>>95891539I guess it would only make sense that there is some variation in mankind, even in 40k.

>>95891585I am convinced they made those chaos plates in the upgrade sprue with dreadnoughts in mind.
>>95891610Yeah they don't really fit tanks as well
>>95891605photoshop that head white and it'll look more natural than the paintjob does now
>>95891605If you painted that dude white he'd just look like a bald european dude.
>>95891565I saw a video Midwinter minis brush care video about trimming brushes down to the ferrule for stippling brushes or not so close to the ferrule to be a dry brush.
Just a thought to get more use out of your โdeadโ brushes.
They served you well I hope.
Do they also gain the Dark Pact ability? Or just the faction keyword?
>>95891674Just the faction keyword, which opens up the strats for them
Reminder to all anons here to write down the paints youโre using for your armies.
>t. Forgot what specific paints I used for my army after taking a hobby break
>>95891652Yeah I saw that. But this one is beyond saving. I cleaned it with brush soap every day, but apprently metallic paints are brush killers. Now the strands just break off after each drying.
I want to know how necrons, grey knights, and custodes painters handle their brushes getting wrecked with all that metal pigments.
How are Custodes able to compete against factions with tanks and such? Perusing through my buddy's codex, they don't seem to have access to any lascannons or any other sort of "Anti-Armor" shooting? In fact, the only anti-armor anything in this entire damn book is from the Land Raider, which as I understand, is more of a transport than an actual tank
>>95891522Not fully finished but the chassis is pretty much done, only needs a bit of weathering
>>95891692โLmao 4+ invulnโ is the usual method.
>>95891691I use a bag of 50 cheap size 0 brushes for my metallics, don't bother cleaning them beyond just rinsing them in paint cup and just toss them when they get too frayed
>>95891688Do you have that many pots?
>>95891696This is what TS is meant to look like
>>95891692Every custodes list has two calladius tanks. Because gw decided the game's best melee army needed the best ranged antitank
Now that we have them all who got the best update?
>>95891709rubrics and berzerkers are the clear winners with plague marines and generic legionaries in a close second place
noise marines are just sad
>>95891709Csm, infractors come close though. Zerkers and thousand sons are the worst though.
>>95891724Actual shit taste
>>95891731Zerkers just look like shittier csm. Rubrics are a 7th edition bastard, nuff said.
>>95891736We heard you were a retard the first time, no need to restate the obvious
>>95891736Goddamn what's it like being so wrong
>>95891692the calidus tank is fucking bullshit
>>95891709Rubrics are basically 1 to 1 the original Jes designs, noise marines are in that ballpark as well. Interesting how much plague marines drifted in concept I wonder if he was too busy with primaris to be involved with them.
If my Vehicles are Heavy thanks to Anvil and they get charged, do my tanks essentially just shoot at normal BS because -1 for being in combat but +1 from heavy (as I can't move)
>>95891757plague marines suffer from the move from Nugle=decay and plague to Nurgle=disease, fungus, and growth
>>95891709Thousand Sons are still modeled with the torsos separate from the legs, so they're the best.
>>95891709>god of change with tons of mutations>his marines are clean and sterile >chaos god of stagnation and decay>his marines are covered in mutations and growth What did GW mean by this?
>>95891771Huh. I wonder if that's the alternative to Space Marine fall back & shoot being such a pain in the ass.
"Yeah you can tarpit me but I'm shooting normally"
>>95891785reading their lore should help clean that up, hope this helps
>>95891757Khorne truly are the Ultramarines of Chaos gods. His design is just vanilla CSM with his symbols plastered all over them.
>>95891785The funny thing is that thousand sons do have a sub faction where rubrics grow a bunch of eldritch tentacles, but itโs too fucking nurgle coded to be capitalized on.
>>95891785>>his marines are clean and sterileDon't count rubrics as his marines, his marines are sorcerers, rubrics are tools and puppets, not the favoured dudes walking the path to glory in chaos' eyes
>>95891794Because they were the posterchild CSM until 2017
Has anybody got a scan of any 10e Crusade books? I want to see how they are laid out
>>95891794The only difference between khorne and undivided is wizards
>>95891808Iโm starting to think Khorne is just retarded.
>>95891785>his marines are clean and sterileAlmost like there's a fluff reason why Rubrics aren't all mutated up.
>chaos god of stagnation and decay>his marines are covered in mutations and growthStanding water has more life in it than flowing water.
>>95891709>regular CSMOverall did what it needed to do, it's CSM but new, adds some new armor marks to them and has that run down feel to show how they've scavenged overtime. Overall a great update.
>rubrics*chefs kiss* basically a full recreation of their original design. Came out just before GW got autistic with marine legs.
>plague marinesDesign shift which was naturally polarizing. Personally I wish they had more organs spilling out of them.
>berserkersBasically more of the same, I like they kept details like the leather gloves and exposed arms.
>noise marinesI feel like the new ones are being held back by the paintjob, need to see more of them by other painters to get a good idea.
>>95891709i really don't care about marine slop
>>95891814The fluff reason makes them boring.
>>95891709I really dislike plague marines, they are too cartooney and overdone. They should look more like those guys - imo peak plague marines.
>>95891814>Almost like there's a fluff reason why Rubrics aren't all mutated up.Ok but GW wrote the fluff that way.
>>95891709I like Rubrics the most. Turquoise and gold look so nice together
>>95891823Neither do I but unfortunately chaos has to be dependent on them.
>>95891824>each Chaos god has to be all one thing and one thing only>otherwise it's boringYou do know you can just make non-Rubric Tzeentch marines and warp them however you like, right? Even the TS sorcerers got plenty of mutated bits.

>>95891814>Standing water has more life in it than flowing water. The bigger issue with them is they have more chaos like mutations not just fungal growths. Like the champion just having a face growing on him and tentacles coming out of his armor which is a bit different to the guys with fungal growths. I think a good example is the gacha sorcerer. Has life blooming in his decay without just sprouting generic chaos mutations.
>>95891618>>95891620Reminder that Afrikaans are a thing

>>95891908One is Upper Egypt and the other Lower Egypt. Like how BT and GK aren't stepping on each other's toes because one is paladins and the other is templars.
>>95891919The thing is with necrons and Tsons their aesthetics are still very different even if you compare them side by side. Yes, both take after egyptian aesthetic, but they do it in different ways mostly.

Such a bond also ensures good relations between other parts of the Imperium
This has the effect of staving off the Black Rage, but should the Astartes lose their mortal sibling, they almost always lose themselves shortly after and are interred into a Death Company named The Remnants.

I also think melee is handled extremely well in Kill Team, compared to 40k. (also alternating activations, but i actually prefer the randomness of BA over strict back and forth with activations).

>>95892275>Respect for the Unnoticed.>Chapter serfs of the coal hearts are referred to as Bondforged. Without them the Coal Hearts would have long since perished, from the disciplined and capable crews of the chapterโs ships to the humble staff who maintain their bastions. Many Bondforged are related to the Astartes they serve, though distantly. As such it is rare for them to be mistreated as might be the case with more stern chapters. In return the Bondforged of the chapter are loyal unto death and willing to do whatever is required of them by their superhuman guardians.>The Bondforged are divided between:>Voidwardens: Auxiliary naval troops used to guard Coal Heart facilities and ships or serve as boarding reinforcements in a void engagement.>Starwrights: Engineers and specialists, trained by the chapterโs Techmarines with special dispensation from Tejana to perform repairs and maintenance on advanced equipment.>Lightbearers: Support staff, clerks, aids, quartermasters, administrators, and other general servants.>Waste not, want not.>Self sufficiency is one of the core Coal Heart virtues, the chapterโs location on the fringe of Imperial space initially left them frequently short of supplies even with the Madrigalโs Promise and support from Tejana. This was further reinforced by the harshness of life on Oracleus Minor and in the chapter fleet. Every resource had to be carefully husbanded and recycled. As such it became common practice and eventually ritual tradition for all marines to also be on the lookout for salvage or possible upgrades. This is aided by their practice of having each marine be a trained artisan, in charge of the maintenance and repair of his own equipment. 1/2
>>958925072/2
>After every battle the fallen are searched and all equipment possible recovered for reuse, the wargear of the dead is typically split up among their squad or on rare cases gifted to a chosen successor. This also applies to the dead of other chapters who fall alongside the Coal Hearts, if none of the dead allyโs brothers are available to claim the gear it is divided among those marines who found it. Oracleus Minor itself was once the site of a battle during the Horus Heresy and much of the chapterโs rarer and older equipment has been recovered from its deserts. >Every piece is carefully refurbished and sanctified before either being distributed to combat forces or stored in the Rubblecrownโs vaults. The chapter has over time developed special rituals for exorcising suspect technology before usage after several incidents. The practice of salvage has been extended to many other long forgotten battlefields of the regions that surround the Ghoul Stars, all are stripped bare by the Coal Hearts when discovered. This directive has led to some difficulties however, as the Coal Hearts have been accused of outright theft on several occasions by other chapters they shared a warzone with. >Some less practical chapters have decried the Coal Hearts as carrion vultures and no few duels have been fought over such insults. Especially heinous accusations regarding potential heretical use or recovery of Xenotech have been made but never substantiated. The chapterโs frequent aid to the Ordo Xenos on the inquisitionโs request perhaps gives some weight to the rumours. >Coal Heart power armour suits are often composed of a mix of armour marks and nonstandard configurations are common. Mark VI Corvus pattern helms are greatly coveted for their improved targeting systems. The new MK.X armour introduced by the Torchbearer fleet, being produceable in large numbers has helped to bring about more standardization for the time being.
>>95892471>Melee in Kill TeamYou think so? A lot of people I played KT with HATE melee in that game because, unless you're playing a team with shields, there is nothing you can do about the first hit of an opponent that charged you. If you charge someone with less than 5 wounds, a single success means they're guaranteed dead if they're not a faction that gets "get out of jail" free cards like Quins.

With how fast the buggies die I had almost half my army dead on turn 1, and I couldn't really scratch the EC after that. Oh well. I definitely learned a lot going into my next game on how to build the terrain for this deployment.
It was a fun game, mostly because it was just an excuse to shoot the shit with a good friend while rolling some dice. It was nice to play after so long.

Same for space dwarfs.
T'au I understand because it's a cold war relationship.

It's some of the most I've enjoyed playing my CSM since I first bought Dark Vengeance.
>>95894315That's why I said I'm glad social media had set forth some form of standard. People's tolerance for absolute garbage was way higher both because of things gw showed off and because people saw less models in general. People like to complain that social media has warped people's standards and that things can't just be mediocre anymore. But I think it's not so much that things can't be just mediocre, and more so that no-one has tolerance for the absolute bottom of the barrel. We've all seen what high level stuff looks like and are aware of the effort it takes to get there, and I feel like we're also all aware of what the absolute bare minimum effort looks like.
I kind of wish blanks were expanded upon a bit more in the setting, they feel kind of underutilized despite potentially being one of the imperiumโs greatest assets
>>95891605Guilty as charged
>>95894387It's easy to act like standards are somehow higher today when you got not only official kits for everything, but a whole industry of bits to convert from, not to forget just 3D printing whatever you like. Two decades ago it was hacking together GW bits or making everything by hand out of plasticard and green stuff. Same was true for both players and GW studio.
>>95894405>Sisters of Silence are blanks and are thematically great to be alongside Custodes>GW barely does anything for them and opts to do Femstodes instead of expanding themDagnabbit.
>>95894405Blanks are unfortunately one of those things that if you think about them too hard they kind of break the setting and everything falls apart, so it has to mostly be brushed under the rug and handwaved.

>making the warp not some intrinsic part of reality that must be reckoned with as both a blessing and a curse, but just some superfluous other dimension that we could seal off and erase Chaos if only we bred all humans to have the one special gene that makes them blanksHas basically been the case since war in heaven lore. Like the warp wasn't even always like that and necrons then and now were pulling that shit. Hell Necrons literally prove this as well as they do actually have no souls and exist just fine.
>>95894459>but just some superfluous other dimension that we could seal offNecrons literally have the tech to do just that. Like could just fix the chaos issue overnight if they could be arsed.

>in HH lore scandinavia was purged completelyHistorical mirror of the old religions getting slowly subsumed by Christianity.
>valhalla, the afterlife of the vikings, turned into a world of soviet guardsmenValhalla was actually a garden world originally, ideal for human habitation, like a paradise almost, only then a rogue comet came along and slammed into it and fucked it all up because you cannot have nice things in 40K.
>Are the bongs still buckbroken about the viking conquestsNot at all, its a big part of our history, and is quite a popular topic. Our island is a bit of a melting pot when it comes to ancestry anyway.
>or is it just GW that doesn't like scandinavia?Doubt it, they hired enough of them.
>>95894459>hat we could seal off and erase Chaos if only we bred all humans to have the one special gene that makes them blanksWould probably cause more issues than it would solve, would in fact ironically be a defeat scenario for the imperium.

>>95894468>there's a thousand times more variation in humanity in this setting than in the real world.Where are these variants in the models? Why do we only get a couple of IRL ethnicities?
In the oldskool RPGs you get voidborn but even that hasn't ever hit the tabletop.

Started reading the Ahriman Omnibus. Thousand Sons have always seemed cool since I read about the Rubric marines back in 3.5 and the novel and stuff in the old codex I found are cool too. Anyone have any experience with them on the tabletop? Watched a few batreps where they seem cool, but I dislike how it feels like everyone brings Magnus. I was fluffing out a custom warband but I am not sure if it is too Mary Sue or opposing the lore.
The leader of the warband is a renegade marine not of the Thousand Sons, trained by a Thousand Sons sorcerer. He has a small force of Rubrics and some Tzaangors, but they function as mercenaries that trade their services in war for knowledge and secrets. From what I understood anyone with knowledge can order around the Rubrics, but I might be wrong? Felt like a fun idea to have a TSons sorcerer who has his student/Cats Paw doing the dirty work and fighting for him and the mentor only showing up in times of dire need. The renegade would wear the colors of my CSM warband and be the new CSM sorcerer with some TSons bits/conversions. This would let me run him with my CSM normally and also run him and his thrall Rubrics in the CSM army if I feel like it.

How are you going to travel across the galaxy?
How many aeons would be needed before the warp was no longer a nuclear blasted hellscape? Can it ever not be?
What are you going to do about the tyranids, necrons, deldar and orks? How long until the T'au "win" and just make a new warp?
The Imperium's existence seems to be fine with the warp. You just need to prevent:
>an entire planet as populated as Terra or the Eldar Homeworld from creating a fifth chaos god>the son of the son with daddy issues from deleting whatever's containing the warp now before he Age of Emperor's the setting>>95894490>Like could just fix the chaos issue overnight if they could be arsed. The lore, and especially the books, do lean into the magitech too hard. And unlike the Imperium who are rationing their half understood nuclear bombs to last deep into the night, or the Eldar who have infinite nuclear bombs but no victory condition, the Necrons are just a dementia riddled grandad stumbling drunkenly through an unlit cellar of hydrogen bombs with the rats hoping he can't remember the launch codes. >>95892275Malakim's Ante were a small strike team of Lamenters, sent off to the far reaches of the galaxy to reclaim lost wargear in hopes of bolstering the diminished armory of the chapter. While searching the edge of the Ghoul Star's they received a call from Baal claiming a massive Tyranid hivefleet was approaching the homeworld of the Blood Angels and that their assistance was required to help fend off the assault. Upon setting off through the warp for Baal they encountered a massive warp storm and became stranded for what felt like 100 days. Unbeknownst to them, this was the machinations set forth by the great Khorne Daemon Prince Cha'gath Akz'Hur, who continually cast teeming hordes of daemonic entities upon the castaway marines. During their time spent within the space between realities, a large portion of their forces became stricken with the curse carried by their progenitors, known as the Red Thirst and Black Rage. Large portions of the strike team were lost to the infighting, and those that survived carried with them a great shame left from delivering the Emperors Peace to their former brethren. Those that carried the burden of felling the most of their kin became known as The Benevolent, and began to paint their armour in colours of mourning, as a means of recognizing the great sin they had committed. Eventually the warp entity seemed to grow tired of toying with the marines and spat them out into the orbit of Baal where they could witness the true destruction that befell the once great homeworld. Stricken with the grief of losing their brothers, the shame of failing to aid the Blood Angels in time, they set out on the galaxy with a new quest. One of hatred. One of revenge. To seek out the dark forces that tore their family asunder, they now patrol the edge of the Great Rift stalking whatever occult evils that unfortunately find themselves in their path.
