No matter what, on my turn I'm looking to lose life as soon as possible, then turning Rowan sideways and casting an X spell or two. Opinions on this Terra summons deck? The game plan is to get the enchantress engine going, get a summon on board and flip Terra as soon as possible. Being able to instantly proc up to 4 chapters of your token summon (and even getting to keep the creature if you remove the last one at instant speed with one of the counter removers) can lead to some fun combos.

I think it's the size that's making it look weird to him. Compare the size of her arm that's locked around the guy's head and the arm she has sticking up. The arm around the guy's head is a lot thicker. Could be because she's supposed to be flexing from having him in a hold but that's a big pump. Even the fist is nearly double the size. Could be a perspective thing but it's not really at such an angle that there should be such a difference. Adds to the asymmetry when only that arm is hairy while the other is bare. Unless the idea was that one arm is more satyr than the other.

This guy. I like putting 1/1 counters on stuff. I liked the idea of merfolk. The theme looked cool and the way he pumped up your whole board of merfolk while gathering big value from explore looked fun. But damn did he just never work out. Every game just felt like an uphill battle that never panned out. May have been the decks I was facing at the time were bad matchups but it was not a good time. I still have the deck even if I pulled a lot of the better general cards out of it. I've been thinking of retooling it around Kumena one of these days and seeing how that turns out.

At the time one of the decks I saw a lot was tuned Pantlaza and the amount of value that was able to vomit out every then made me think Hakbal was lacking in comparison. Yes, this is a perfectly fair stance, but lets not pretend like UW lore has ever been anything good or exceptional. It was serviceable fantasy cliches that WOTC mostly bungled since they failed to create a single popular character. Which is fine for a card game where 90% of the player base didn't care about the story.

The biggest tragedy of UB becoming 50% of the game is that power escalation is now going to accelerate, since to generate enough hype to sell UW sets they have to intentionally rachet up the power level of non-UB sets in order to sell packs, which means that UB will have to play catch up, which means the baseline rises.

Ranar, the Ever Watchful. A precon commander meant to exhibit the Foretell mechanic, where you can pay a portion of a spell’s cost and reveal it to cast it at a later time.

Ranar allowed you to foretell one spell per turn for free. I like commanders that let you build a quick-access toolbox, so I was excited to see what they did with it.

He is also blue-white. There are only 26 cards in the entire game that have Foretell in those colors. About a third of them are draft chaff.

I feel like Gallia would work better as the head of an aggressive (duh) gruul deck focused on graveyard shenanigans. She's a card advantage engine before she's an anthem, though you can stick a few satyrs in because some are pretty decent, like Gruff Triplets, and the random discard matters less if you make sure to use your graveyard lots. Actually kind of tempted to try and figure something out for her, because she's cute and there's several other cute satyr girls as well.
As for the question itself, I never liked what I could do with Liara Portyr. The idea of impulse drawing extra combat spells, free mana rocks and then finishing with a big x spell never really worked in practice. Either opponents could easily deal with it since it was so insanely reliant on Liara herself being in play, or it popped off and forced everyone at the table to sit through half an hour of non-determinstic shenanigans and a billion triggered abilities that sometimes just fucking fell flat because the chain ended because you drew into three lands. It was also extremely reliant on having at least three opponents, whenever I only had two the deck became unplayable.

So if you had a card that said "when draw card, do X" and you draw 3 cards, it happens 3 times.
The UB slop card we're talking about has a once per turn on it, so even if someone draws 3 it still only makes 1 treasure. But I just wanted to clarify the point that there is no difference between "draw 3 cards" and "draw a card, draw a card, draw a card."

I think you're underestimating how good the removal is in white compared to black and also how important it is in edh. White can hit enchantments and artifacts and that's invaluable.

34 lands with so many 4+ cards is gonna lead to a lot of durdle games. You have too many cards that only create a single token on your turn, those are borderline useless, especially ones that don't trigger the turn you play them and especially expensive ones, prime example here being Outlaw's Merriment get rid of that card asap. Your deck is packed to the gills and you're in green, get rid of those rocks and put in land tutors since you can both thin your deck and help hit some of your land drops with Cultivate-like cards.

All in all this is too much of a greed pile. You've got too many cards that support a gameplan you don't have enough basic support for and which you will have trouble getting out in a timely manner. Token aggro wants to come online within the first 4 turns, as is you're only gonna start to be a threat at the table MAYBE turn 5+, if you ever are. Get your basic gameplan and support in first, then think about adding in winmore cards.

CEDH is 4 dudes basically with decks worth $10,000 each or more. They run 1 copy of the best and most powerful lands, spells, creatures, etc, ever printed in the game (often cards from Masters sets, reserved list cards, etc).
From the commanders I've seen CEDH players run, they mostly all share a common theme.
You can either get loads of mana very quickly, or you can draw a LOT of cards very quickly.
So the entire game of CEDH is basically an expensive game of speed chess where everyones trying to ramp asap and draw their entire deck until they get their win condition 1 out of like 15 in the deck.
I'm sorry, but its just cringe.
Whats even worse is they think it takes any skill or thought to play. It doesn't.
It takes a format designed for casual and fun play and makes it tryhard.

I did this and the level of salt from the cEDH regulars over kingmaking and "why are you removing MY stuff?" was far worse than from the casual EDH crowd. I can only speak for my local area, but the cEDH regulars I know are insufferable and I'll stick with my craw meta.

I feel like cedh and bracket 4 players are the leftovers from the exodus of the older formats the guys that couldn't move on, but not good enough, or wealthy enough to keep playing the 1v1 formats. They always trying to optimize it to a ridiculous level and making all kinds of really effective decks but a slug/snoozefest for other players to play with. This isnt my list but its a good example.
Basically, your stradegy is every time your turn begins, you check how many outlaws you have on the field. lets say you have 3 (including Flint himself).
You choose an opponent and exile 3 off the top of their library. You can then use your own mana pool and use any mana types to cast opponents cards.
Its a deck that is just fun to play. Stealing opponents good stuff when getting lucky is just a fun mechanic.
You'll annoy opponents but you won't really be targeted.
Your gameplan is to just annoy the other players and outlast them.

Sacrifice target X you control where X is the obliviate type. Target opponent sacrifices a permeant of the same type of your choice.

The lore behind it will be that you are creating an antimatter version of the permanent and mashing them together to destroy both. There will be a legendary rare that lets you cast a spell of equal or lesser value as the sum of the cmc oblivated cards. This is the problem with the "engine" commanders.
I'm sure that Vivi is fun..... Provided that he actually lives for more than a turn. And given his popularity/ notoriety it's not going to take anyone too long to figure out that he should be a prime target for removal.

I will admit that I too get excited by these designs but usually when it comes to the phase when I am drafting the deck on moxfield, I realize how screwed I am in case of a lot of targeted removal, and I usually end up abandoning the build for something a bit more resilient without its Commander.

In my opinion this is a flaw of the game. I think that if Commander was rebuilt from the ground up it would be different, but the rules of magic were not originally conceived for a game like this.
