>Previous Thread>>95843526>Thread QuestionWhat's a game you came to like after giving it a second chance?
I can't wait to explore the underground of the valley map. I hope they made things extra difficult because irl spelunking is so perilous.
>>95902837Thanks. How's the collection coming along?
>>95904653Someone on the discord posted a pretty cool way to amp up the difficulty:
>if you don't camp at the end of day, you gain alingering injury card for every injury>lingering injuries are only returned to the collection if you camp, otherwise they go back into your deck at the end of day
>>95904725Yeah there's levers you can raise and lower in the game like that, but I'm looking for a real challenge with this new campaign. What you proposed would get more serious depending on the party composition, but my character wouldn't find that tough enough. I never liked the "just use harder weather" quick fix. We need a little bit more intentionally designed difficulty in my opinion.
>>95904653Is there any way of playing this online, or is it just the TTS demo and then you've got to do IRL?
>>95904020 (OP)Threadly reminder that echoes of astrea is ai slop and should be treated as such
>>95903992Why? Am I wrong?
>>95904911The tts demo is multiple play sessions of you're completely clearing everything so I recommend starting there. I think the game is entering second reprint phase so if you like what you see then pick it up. Not confident there's any way to play online besides webcam.
>>95904177Does this game have ewoks?
>>95905408What a stupid question. Absolutely not.
>>95905430They are the strongest race in SW though.
>>95905467When the game is at its darkest hour and all hope seems lost, then they will release the fight of endor set to help FFG find a softer financial landing.
>>95905067There's a small handful of weebshorts autists who believe it's the highest IQ TCG ever to exist.
>>95905430I would play your game if I could have an Ewok deck.
>>95905505I'll never play the game on the competetive level but I might collect a few ewoks here and there.
>>95905408No, FFG hates tribal decks.
>>95906370I don't know how that game works at all. Can't ewoks be shoehorned into already existing concepts somehow?
>>95906421No on account of there aren't any.
>>95904485God the non-canon saber hilt designs are so generic and trash
>Lorcana cycling out old sets
>upcoming set is half reprints
???????
>>95907162>design game>either don't plan for rotation, or do plan for rotation (not sure which is worse)>by the time you actually get to rotation, realize the post-rotation cardpool will be fundamentally unplayable, and you never designed a viable game within the subset of current rotation setstop shelf card game making
>>95904680Quite well. I've finished the first binder and started another. It's fun, because the collection can never be completed. There is no end, only the journey.
>>95907162More like Loreprint amirite?????
>>95907208They're rotating out four fucking sets its wild.
Going from 8 sets to 5 sets.
>>95907363>8 sets in>yeah we failed to make set 5+6+7+8+9 a viable game, somehow
>>95905521That's exactly what they're counting on. Break cute alien glass in case of emergency.
Been a while since I've been into a TCG but this seems like the thread to ask. I've been looking at the Gundam TCG. I'm a huge fan of both the anime and building Gunpla so it really appeals to me. I went to my LGS today to ask if they will be selling it and/or having events for it. The guy at the counter said no. I've looked online and can't find a place to preorder the starter decks or Booster boxes. Where do I go from here? It seems like I'm out of luck. Thank you.
>>95908875Consider playing the minis game instead.
>>95908875>It seems like I'm out of luck. Thank you. You're welcome.
>>95908944>>95908956I guess I should just give up then?
>>95908875Bandai is notorious for under-stocking their games at launch to encourage scalping/etc. Your best best would probably be to be patient and wait a few months before stores start getting their supply in.
You'd also have higher odds of success if you can track down a store that's stocking one of Bandai's other games (DBS, OP, Digimon, etc.), since if a store is sucking Bandai's cock they're usually going to stock all of their games and not just one.
>>95908875launch is 7/11 for the starter decks and 7/25 for the booster box, no events are visible until 6/27 (maybe) when the bandai app updates.
Nobody knows the store allocations yet so its a crapshoot. after 6/27 check to see what stores in your area are running events and buy from them or pray.
>>95909009I'm gonna be real with you, this game is for the birds. Do not pursue. Find something else and beware bandai cardo games.
Alright well thanks for your help, anons. Maybe I'll try Digimon instead then.
>>95904485>starYoda's LightsaberWhat does the symbol mean in this context?
Anyone ever play Embryo Machine? Rzr introduced it to me but I didn't back it so forgot sky it. Flash forward and I'm in a wasteland of no decent mech content and now I wish I picked it up.
>>95909556>Maybe I'll try Digimon instead then.Welcome to infinite powercreep and a good system(memory gauge)
Anyone ever play Embryo Machine? Rzr introduced it to me but I didn't back it so forgot about the game entirely. Flash forward, I'm in a wasteland of no decent mech content and I kinda wish I picked it up.
Card based mech builder game, complete with light tactical placement and momentum mechanics. Arena was small but predicting where your enemy would end up was the trick.
>>95910213It's the "Unique" symbol. Means you can't have multiple copies in play
There is nothing wrong with powercreep.
Set rotation is good, actually.
Lorcannae stay in rotation
Maybe set 5 legendaries will actually be playable and escape the $0.25 curse of set 3 legendaries
>>95907249What's your rarest, most valuable cat?
>>95911965I think to have that happen you need demand from players. Why can't SWU maintain a stable playerbase? I've played the game, it's not like the rules are bad. Worst part is FFG behind the wheel, which is ironic because that use to mean something in the industry.
>>95913495It has a stable base, set 4 sold well.
The issue is FFG printing some of the worst, most useless cards in the entire pool at the highest rarity.
>>95913495>>95913548Irc, it sold more boxes than FaB
>>95913571You may think this is a bad thing, but it isn't. Over printing causes prices to fall. Compare the last fab set singles with the last swu one, what you'll see is one of them has a tighter grip on how many legendaries are in the world. That's part of what gives them value. The other part is having people play the game around the world and still not printing too much to tank the box value immediately after release.
>>95913609cope, seethe and dilate
>>95913620I don't have to cope, my game is alive and healthy. You're the one that is shying away from the reality of the situation.

Another day on /acg/
>>95910463I backed it and have had it sitting in the closet waiting for the right time to bust it out. It's not the only KS robot skirmish game I've got, so it's a bit hard to get my regular friend group to pick it up when they're already familiar with the other one and often want to try something totally new instead. There's no real overlap in the game, but the surface-level "robot fight game" veneer keeps them from wanting to try out another one even if I tell them they're nothing alike.
>>95914335Can I come over and play with you? My friends aren't the best either.
>>95913495>>95913548I know nothing about SWU, but a lot about FFG. That's why it's going to fail honestly.
>>95914880>I know nothing about SWU, but a lot about FFGYou can say that, and I know what you mean, but literally 100% of people who worked at the FFG you knew are gone. It's a company of theseus at this point.
>>95912915Most valuable probably isn't very much. Maybe one of the Pokรฉmon cards? I think I paid $60 for one of them.
Rarest would depend on how you'd even classify that. The cards that anon sent me from Malaysia don't seem to be available in any other country, so that makes them kinda rare, even if they don't have any real sale value.
>>95916141>literally 100% of people who worked at the FFG you knew are gone.Yeah, because the company is a soulless piece of shit now that actively drove all of its talent away.

>Estimates 1 per case cards to be THOUSANDS of dollars
Am I crazy or is this wildly unrealistic? Where are these people coming from. Fucking grifters.
Having said that, does anyone have any idea what the rarity distribution in riftbound is going to be? Can I expect to have a play set of every card in one case? 2?
I heard there aren't any exclusive cards in the starter decks, but I could find anything about alt arts or whatever that may be in those decks only.
This brings back good /acg/ memories
>>95921594Not even slightly for me. That shit isn't even that old. Two years ago isn't really nostalgia territory, it's recent past.
>>95921594>simple text>battleYes!
Jesus, this game used to be affordable
>>95922398*card games used to be affordable
Fixed that for you. I can't even buy failed ccgs without dropping fat wads these days. Welcome to the suck.
>>95921625alright so what's ur number 1 /acg/ memory then sir
>>95921594Man, has it really been two years?
I took a break from this place because the FUCK FAB posting had gotten stale, moderation sucked dick cheese, and there weren't any big up-and-coming games that caught my interest, but it still doesn't seem like it'd been that long ago.
What have you all been playing or collecting? I know catfag is still around and Condemned Anon is still trucking, but is it all SWU, Lorcana, Gundam, and FAB right now?
>>95923171>GundamAfaik, it's hard to get cards, so no discussion about it
>>95923171>I know catfagYou missed alot. Pamper party, selfdoxing himself, inviting church boys to come inside his house to spread the lord. It's been an epic arch, to say the least.
>>95923326>it's hard to get cards,Huh really?
Damn
>>95923437This happens with all Bandai's tcgs. The first few boxes are hard to get because printing, scalpers, or both
What do you guys think about riftbound? Im excited for it, though i think the universus people are handling it so it may end up in flames honestly
>>95924473I don't like the IP and I think lor is full of flaws since the open beta, so take this with a huge grain of salt.
Afaik (I could be wrong), the MSRP is as expensive as mtg, and the rarity system is almost the same too. To make it worse, there are too many tcgs on the market. I don't think there are enough league of legends and tcg fans who will buy it with its current premium price.
If riot doesn't want massive profits, it will live.
Btw, this is just my opinion. I'm not trying to argue
>>95921594How's this going anyway?
>>95924473>the universus peopleuniversus is a way better game than you are giving it credit for i think, it has really dog card art and kinda whack IP spread but none of that is on the gameplay dev side of things
I except Riftbound to vastly out perform Gundam in USA, not sure that means it will stay afloat or at least leave weeb junk like UA and OP in the dust tho I think the IP and design have that potential.
>>95923171we are patiently awaiting hubworld sir, biggest acg of 2028 it will be
>>95924473I've played a bit now and don't like it. The gameplay is pretty boring and I feel like the whole thing is being astroturfed by content creators who have something to gain from it.
>>95923326It literally isn't even out yet
>>95924473I'm extremely excited for it. Even though the gameplay is nothing alike, I loved lor and am glad to see it come back in some form.
I am not a league player but I like the art style and setting. The setting is flexible for pretty much anything SciFi and fantasy to be represented.
The gameplay seems to be good, but it's hard to tell without actually playing a game. The multiplayer flexibility is also good and helps rope in Normie friends into playing. I also heard the 4 player games have a lot less politicking compared to edge which is also good.
>>95924554I haven't heard much details about the monetization so I hope that's not true. I hope it's feasible to have a playset of every card within one to two cases.
>>95924473I'm interested to see how much "WA LAO but is NEW GAME why not half price boosters LAH???" we get.
I'm guessing it will be a lot less than a certain other game.
>>95925290>sirplease needfully be of proper spelling, saar
>>95921594>tfw this game is literally just ygo circa 10 years agoFeels so fuckign good man
>>95923385so the nonce is out there having himself a good time while im barely able to afford my bills
fuck this entire planet
>>95925273>I except Riftbound to vastly out perform Gundam in USA,Uhh how lol
Gundam is a more popular IP and is easier to get into as a tcg.
>>95926190Catfag is exactly the kind of guy to have tens of thousands of bitcoin from 2009.
Anybody ITT play Sorcery? Just found out about it and I love the card art, planning to get a box of Arthurian Legends. Realistically, will I be able to build something from pulls that doesn't get curb stomped at locals?
>>95926427>sorcery>localsHe doesn't know!
>>95924473Too easy to win the game
You won't see much sorcery love out there, the company does a terrible job at supporting the game. The main people driving interest are art collectors and investors. No one talks about it as anything beyond a pretty game to collect.
I've heard limited is the only way to experience it.
Say what you want about Flesh and Blood, at least their creators care about the game and effectively support LGS with products, promos and wide range of events. Erik is only now attempting to catch up on these things.
I haven't checked on One Piece cards in a little over a year as the decks I wanted to make were very expensive and I had a year full of very high expenses ahead of me.
Now I checked back on it and prices has utterly PLUMMETED from what I remember.
What the fuck happened?
>>95926783New scalp and palp soon, fellow Bamco enjoyer.
Dreamed about doing an EBR teach last night. Thought it was a bit strange that the Whispercrack Darter dealt "the square root of an avian creature's presence" in damage, and didn't bother to include examples so you had to calculate it every time.
>>95926783If you specifically mean black, that's because Bamco banned Moria and Ice Age, which killed off a lot of the older ones.
The meta right now is completely dominated by purple, with a few green and blue decks showing up here and there.
>>95926905Its not just black, its pretty much every card of every deck I wanted to build. The only one that's still somewhat expensive is Katakuri but everything else has become so dirt cheap, what is this huge crash that happened and is the game ok?
>>95926783They'll do set rotation starting 2026, so stuff that isn't performing the best right now-, and is about to rotate out costs very little.
>>95926338>Gundam has more recognition than Riot in USI'm not really sure that's true at all. League has spent over a decade as a top3-5 vidya
Certainly with millennials it might be even or lean Gundam's way but I think everyone younger than 40 I think Riot is probably well ahead?
Gundam is going to have zero influencer/streamer buzz whatever that is worth and Riot will in theory hype their TCG to all LoL/TFT players thru client etc.
I could be wrong but I 100% Riftbound to at least start bigger tho it could completely flameout whereas I don't really expect Gundam to be much bigger than UA/Digimon level at best. I've loved mecha for long enough to know nobody else gives a fuck about mecha
>>95916912>Accidentally reveal Lamy's Oshi card at the same time as Anya's 2nd>Everyone expects Lamy cards the next day>Lolno time for alt arts for like a week and a half before actually showing LamyFunny stuffs going on in the Holoka lands.
>>95927396Has Witch from Mercury's lesbian buff worn off or something?
Lorcana, SWU, and One Piece are all doing rotation in the next 12 months and also to my knowledge all doing "block" based rotation, where a bunch of sets all exit play at once. So... why is that? Is it just easier for casual players to keep up with one big annual rotation instead of one set falling out every 3 months (when a new set drops)?
Another interesting facet of the three is the question "how relevant are the sets rotating out, anyways?" I don't know Lorcana or One Piece well enough to say. In SWU's case, there's a weird situation where sets 2/3 were largely underpowered leading to a situation where heading into set 5, set 1 cards are still like half of the meta. But my uneducated guess would be that One Piece features enough power creep that the oldest sets are basically irrelevant anyways, outside maybe a few LRs?
>>95927818Three perennial top decks are getting rotated out - basically gutting purple, whose core ~30 cards have been the same since set 2, which was too powerful of a set all around.
Otherwise the meta would absolutely be playable and fresh if they didn't do any reprints, but there are also a few cards (board wipe, namely) that hasn't even had a "strictly worse" version printed and needs to exist to limit go-wide strategies from being dominant. The other reprints they've shown so far never really made it into the meta previously, but may have new life without being held down by set 2 mistakes.
>>95927887>Three perennial top decks are getting rotated out - basically gutting purple, whose core ~30 cards have been the same since set 2, which was too powerful of a set all around.Ah, will this save the game from the 3 (or is it now 4?) different versions of a purple luffy leader being top of the meta?
>>95927113>ts not just black>picture anon posted shows that a yellow card got bannedGeeeez anon I wonder why yellow cards are cheap.
Yellow is ass and stuff like Katakuri and Yamato got reprinted in PRB.
what tcg did all the wixoss players move to?
And is Force of will still alive?
>>95926675I would still be playing FaB if the creators cared about people who played the game more than they do about re-sellers.
>Start up the One Piece TCG sim
>Get matched with a really bad match-up
>Lose
I hate when a game has these nearly unwinnable match-ups.
>>95908875Its a bandai product, you're fucked unless you order 5 months ahead lol
>>95927953Can't answer the first question, but as always, fow has it's place in whatever pockets of the world that still play it.
>>95927949I also looked into other colors as well since I wanted one deck of every color, its not just yellow, everything went down, some to pennies, and I'm wondering if the game is facing an end of distribution or something and nobody's playing it anymore.
>>95926675>no more playmats for monthly store events>barely any restocks on product in the last year since fart the pissveil>forcing LL and ignoring Blitz to death>no entry product for High Seas>only 12 armory decks per store yeah idk
>>95927953What happened to Wixoss?
>>95927960They care little to not at all about resellers. It's not something that could have any control over even if they did care.
Do you mean collectors? The ones that buy product, organize master sets or just focus on the chase cards and want to hold on to it indefinitely as it goes ever higher in value? They care about collectors, matter of fact they always have. That they can control by offering foil treatment reprint protection and MAP price policies. So far collectors are exceedingly happy with the product, but they make up a relatively smaller portion of the FAB community because it just so happens to be a great game to play as well, and so you have the overwhelming majority being players. Which I might add, LSS works tirelessly to maintain a healthy play experience for everyone, dedicating large teams to overseeing balance and testing, even forming a separate studio to explore development even further and hand tailor game modes that are advocating for skilled play that isn't focused on the higher tier rarities.
Why you quit fab is another matter that you would have to be more specific with in order to narrow down the game's (perceived) shortcomings. I assure you it's not because LSS doesn't care, because they demonstrate a huge amount of effort and attention for the many aspects of Flesh and Blood, including its legacy as an endearing game that will stand the test of time like so many other great TCGs.
>>95928044Yeah okay stop trolling.
>>95928103"Collectors" aka people who speculate on the market and buy/sell solely to make money.
If they cared about the players the game wouldn't be this expensive and a reprint of a staple like Command and Conquer wouldn't be a tournament promo that ends up being more expensive than the original versions.
Do not steal codes please.
>>95928103>They care little to not at all about resellers. He probably means the investorfags. As long as the supply is low and people get refused from sealed tourneys or stores being disallowed to hold "too many" sealed tourneys, they should not be indulging the hoarder scum who purposefully make the price of everything higher.
FAB always sounds like such a fucking miserable game to be a part of, dodged a bullet for once
>>95928103>they care about collectors"collectors" are always at odds with players, players want to play the game, they want new players to be able to join the community & play the game. they don't want high power low supply cards that lock out decks and strats to exist. ever. under any circumstances.
when they do, the company in charge is making their priorities crystal clear. same as it ever was
>>95928135>"Collectors" aka people who speculate on the market and buy/sell solely to make money. You understand that this is different than a collector right? That's someone buying to flip around and sell. The act of collecting is not synonymous with the act of selling. You're talking about Resellers, where the game caters to Collectors and Players. Resellers are preying on the game, against LSS's intentions, so that isn't a mark against the company it's a mark against the shitty wallstreet culture that sprouted up over the last half decade that said "what if cardboard stonks?"
>>95928062>>no more playmats for monthly store eventsMany game stores were whipping around and selling them off on eBay or worse had an arrangement with the local whales to be gifted and not earned (bought with loyalty). This was a cost saving measure against people playing the system.
That being said I wish that actual resellers didn't ruin armory kits for everyone else. The replacement is a promotional pack that contains anywhere between 2 and 150 dollars in cards inside, randomized in package, to make the store a lot harder to fuck over actual armory participants by skimming the value off the top. This is a net positive because at least now the cards aren't sitting in dustcollecting bins out in the open, curling towards the heavens, all because the owners of said store had never conceived of mass pringling in their laziness.
Don't make me tap the sign.
>>95928256You can actually feel the rainbow foil curl compared to the cf flat pretty reliably in the GEM packs because they come in loose paper packs in a cardboard box lmao. I get one a week for being TO janny and have 3 or 4 CF weapons including gravy
>>95928217>That's someone buying to flip around and sell. TYes that's the point you unironic fucking autist.
Actual collectors are tiny tiny tiny minority. Most people who call themselves "collectors" are just in it to make a profit.
>>95928202The gameplay, the community and the publisher are all 10/10. It's a lot of fun, actually. There are just a handful of problems left to iron out.
Compare that to Magic where everything (other than the community) is a fucking disaster.
>>95928062>barely any restocks on product in the last year since fart the pissveilBoth Hunted and High Seas are currently in print. That means right now more is either being made or is in transit to distributors. What happens after it leaves the printing facility is not in LSS's hands. There's been massive market manipulation lately, coming from distributors parking their ass on palettes, claiming "there's just not enough to go around." Again, a short coming of the system being gamed, not the people supplying the game to the system.
>forcing LL and ignoring Blitz to deathLL is being forced because they are trying to prove, or disprove, the validity of the living legend system and see if a format can support itself. It has been called into question recently if they should even continue with LL at all, and they've said they need to prove it doesn't work first before trying anything else. The secondary reason they're doing this is because they blew their own foot off with Aurora, the sweetheart you see here that didn't even survive a fucking year of seeing tournament play. They were banking on her being around for the next three years, you can tell because their on-boarding product was hinging on her simplified 'go wide' strategy, just like ninja use to serve that purpose when the game launched. In order to show their customers that did hop on the shooting star only to see it tragically crashed into mount heroic eight months later they have invited them to continue enjoying her in the living legend format, that will be seeing official seasonal play not and at major events (that's the forced bit.) Will this work in getting more players engaging with LL or will it blow up in their face? Time will tell, I'm leaning towards LL being LL'd in the next two years.
As for Blitz being neglected, it's for absolute bloody good reason.
>half life formats DO NOT WORK with current power level of the gameSo they're making Project Blue now
Alright, this shill is actually annoying. The fuckfab schizo can come back now.

He claimed he didn't know but wouldn't have accepted the judge ruling instead filing for appeal after he made a few phone calls. Well we will have a good counter to Gravy meta for a long time with the changes to LL, but you have to admit he is a menace for everyone else.
>>95930724>everyone else.well everyone who can't go wide
>>95930761Yeah pretty much that.
Speaking from my experiences, Rangers got a nice legendary to help assist them against ally decks, but there's still problems with the class that that need solving. The biggest one exposed by High Seas is that rangers don't have a lot of resource outlets to make use of blues, unless you're a pirate ranger. Neither Rippy nor Azalea got 2 cost arrows they can add to their deck and they can't bring a cannon. So that makes Marlynn the new heiress to the sniper throne (once Az leaves).
>>95929776> makes the last few sets seem a bit like powercreep.bro they just changed how LL worked because new heroes were rotating too fast wtf you mean seem!

>>95928258The secondary market is cancer and anything that supports it is extreme faggotry.
>>95932258>how do you "go wide"Play Ninja
>build boardsPlay illusionist
>>95932509Basically you spend some initial turns playing underrate by charging some cards and then go crazy.
Building up soul: Cards like Bolt of Courage, Beaming Bravado, Saving Grace, Engulfing Light, and use it solely as a charge attack that threatens to get value if your opponent lets it hit and doesn't block. Play midrangey, aim to keep 2-3 cards in hand per turn to set up. You'll do this for 1-2 turns initially, and will need to do it again once you've blown your load. Charge your Bannerets (Banneret of X/Y/Z) to get extra value.
Unleashing soul: Basically you arsenal one of Lumina Ascension, V of the Vanguard, Beaming Bravado, or Beacon of Victory and, if you're playing Tunic, line it up when your tunic hits 3 counters. Take whatever your opponent sends at you (blocking with armor/1 card if needed) and then pump up your attacks to present a bunch of damage with on-hits that your opponent will have a lot of trouble blocking cleanly. A typical line of V of the Vanguard (charge 1 card) -> Raydn -> Bolt of Courage -> (drawn) any other 0 for 3 attack is 4-4-4-4 off of three cards, and it only gets better from there. Spend your soul as necessary and depending on what on-hits or other effects you have this will be soul -1 or soul neutral, and you continue the beatdown from there.
Obviously this all depends on context and what you need to play around but that's basically the gist of it. He's not super strong but he has plenty of good matchups and is a good pick for a midrange-heavy meta since he's one of the best at it.
>>95932258Go wide: play a fuckton of attacks
Build boards: set up items/summon additional targets (as a necromancer or illusionist)
>>95932258Think of each turn of the game as a series of moments between the two characters. On your opponent's turn they try to attack you to force blocks or to concede loss of health, which is what the enemy needs to do to finish you. If you block with cards from hand you get fewer moments of opportunity to do stuff on your turn. This is the eb and flow of the game, like a dance between two performers, banking resources and lobbing assaults at each other while throwing up barricades to slow down progress.
An attack action card isn't always a singular move your hero takes, alternatively it could be a friend or an asset of the hero showing up at a pivotal moment to help. More commonly you see heroes taking swings at each other with their weapons, but consider action cards as persons, places and things that are at the disposal of your hero
Now with that basic introduction out of the way, what are the different styles and approaches these classes, talents and specifically unique heroes bring to the fight? Fast and deadly characters like Ninjas prefer to weave a flurry of weapons and attack actions together while strong and domineering ones such as Guardians send one decisive blow at the enemy; both are trying to overwhelm, but they go about it in different ways. When you hear people say "going wide" or "going tall" that is what they mean.
The combat chain sees cards added in a series of moments, sometimes starting with a spark and ending in a powder-keg towards the end. The wider your attacks can utilize 'go-again,' the more and more cards the enemy will have to commit to each chain link in order to stop you from damaging them. Now the tall swinger is seeking to pump up a singular damage source and limit the ability to defend with keywords like Dominate, which prohibit more than one card being sent to block from the enemy's hand. If you make an attack strong enough you tower over their defense.
'Board' means allies, auras, items & the like; all tangible advantages.
>>95933012Another fun fact about fab, Red is not only an indicator of the strongest version of a card, but it also telegraphs how fast it is moving. RED>YELLOW>BLUE are modal speeds, and thus if you're hasty your reds don't pitch for much, but if you have time on your hands to make use of a blue you can afford to do way more, but it's weaker therefore has less velocity behind it. The key to winning the game isn't always about choosing the best version of cards (generally red) but it can be a quirk of your class, talent or hero that they can make use of different speeds to pad out their approach to combat. Slow and methodical heroes can outlast, otherwise known as "fatiguing" your opponent. Speeding through your deck full of zero cost reds could feel like you're flying at times, but you'll crash out if you don't have enough resources to land an effective turn.
The game of Flesh and Blood is actually really well designed, and the cards have a lot of potential to inform how they are being used or what they represent in the world; it is this fact that has kept me coming back to the game time and again. That potential means they can do more interesting things than just always printing strong but cheap cards; because not all heroes express themselves that way on the battlefield.
>>95933089>The game of Flesh and Blood is actually really well designedoh please, they've had the yellow card problem since launch and two sets that have been an absolute disaster in terms of overpowered heroes (ELE and MST) i hope something good comes out of project blue but i guess not since if they were actually trying to solve the game's problems it would be project yellow
>>95933215>oh please, they've had the yellow card problem since launchNot exactly. I don't think it's a problem really as much as a deck building choice. Popular or not, it's possible to accommodate yellow heavy decks. A lot of zero cost leaner decks aren't going to need blues, so why not take yellow copies of your key cards instead? For example, you have death-spitting Azaleas rocking as few as three blues, all her specialization, and the chunk of resource cards are in fact yellow.
Furthering the design of yellow, you have talents like Light or classes such as Pirate that have different relationships with their yellow copies than others do. Personally I hope that LSS continues to explore these avenues of color expression. It's going to take some time though, because they seldom repeat their approach to making sets.
>>95933215>project BLUE??? but blues are already good! Are you being deliberately low info as a bit?

Though it's honestly fairly cheap now unless you're trying to play specifically GP Luffy. Yearly PRB reprint sets are a nice addition. Right now Yamato, Buggy, Blackbeard, Smoker and Belo Betty are all sub $80 decks topping often.
>You have to find enough posters to keep a general alive. Digi has thatWild that OP doesn't here because as I said it's certainly more popular for in person events now. The main OPTCG discord is also like 70k members. The game is popular in both Japan and the West.

>>95940515>Anyway, many decks were running SRs and SECs from the box, and these cards were expensive af.That was a weird situation yes, the anniversary pack did not have wide distribution like normal sets and many of the cards did not become staples until months after it was out of print. They also dodged last year's reprint set by timing. That said, only the SEC from it is one of the last expensive hold outs that is still run and is presumed to be in this year's reprint set in October. The game has grown since that set came out and bandai prints more now. The game is overall less expensive now with a couple exceptions like I mentioned

Picked up another Lorcana Reign of Jafar booster box today, and again, not an Enchanted card in sight. That makes the last 5 booster boxes I've gotten without a single Enchanted, and even though that's not far off from average, it just doesn't feel good. The new rarities for set 9 can't arrive soon enough.
Has anyone else seen DC Forever? It's listed as a deckbuilding game but reading the rules the game seems much closer to a competetive LCG with the deck building part mostly being accessing cards from your sideboard midgame rather than dominion/star realmsy stuff.
It has initial deck construction where you pick 4 heroes that have pods of cards ala Star Wars LCG and the gameplay has netrunner esque asymmetry of one side trying to advance objective "scheme" cards that are face down and the other side trying to stop them but way more dudebashery.
I feel like this is going to completely pass over the radar sadly because it's marketed as a "deckbuilding game" and has superheros as the theme but I've ordered a copy to see what it's like.

I often thing about how the most interesting and mechanically rich games, as a direct result of their system complexity, have cards that are the least interesting at face value to an outsider.

I have a general design question. It's not unique to OPTCG, but I'll use it as an example.
From what I understand, in that game, you can have 3 different Luffys on the board, and that's fine.
Whereas Naruto CCG or even using MtG as a more popular example, named characters or "Legendary" creatures. Only allow you to have one in play at a time to emphasize the idea of the character being unique.
Personally, which do you prefer?
Does the incongruence/weirdness of there being 4 Luffys or Goku's really bother you that much? Or do you just handwave it just fine, as it allows you to run multiple variants of a card or character you like, and the game still remains fun?

>>95949594I know a nice one locally in Europe that lets me get away with any copyright abuse that I can think of. That company rules. No, I'm not sharing it.
You can also print it for yourself DYI style. It's pretty tedious and expensive though if you only want to do a handful of playmats. You're better off buying from a business that does it all the time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAlvZOzXJTE
If you need a store just try searching on the internet for something that's close to you and hope that they won't be gay about copyright issues. They bigger the company the more likely it is for that to happen though.
Otherwise get ready for the chinky delivery times.
>>95948858Does this really matter as much of the deck building system is more archetype-based like Yu-Gi-Oh/Vanguard? I mean, most JP TCGs tend to go that route anyway. Even Duel Masters.
I'm mostly just curious as to why Bandai Games go for 6 colors for example, and how people feel about this. I get why MtG and most of its successors do "the 5 magics" it's an abstraction of irl stuff anyway and it covers all the bases. But not every setting/theme is using magic, nor is it trending toward fantasy.
Take a look at Pokemon which is using 10 types.
An argument for 4 colors could be made just as strongly, for example.
I'm just wondering if there are particular design advantages for using 5 or more specifically 6, since Bandai seems so keen on that, that I'm not entirely seeing, especially if the goal will be to design around archetypes anyway.
And I'm curious about individual preferences.

>>95940697the game's gonna be super affordable eventually, I think Bandai's goal is for it to be like Pokemon where all decks should realistically be under $100, there's just an issue with that EB01 set that was short-printed in the West and it had a bunch of staple cards that are $30-50+ apiece (Brook, Cavendish, Red Tony Chopper Blocker, etc). I reckon GP Luffy will be expensive for awhile as well due to being short-printed in EB02 (and requiring multiple copies of the SEC card)
as expensive as some decks are right now (like $400 on the high end) you can still build every meta deck and have money left over compared to the price of an average FaB deck
>>95942557>"should have made it a FAB ripoff unironically" there's a reason FAB is dead in all areas of the world except this thread: nobody wants to play "hurr I pitch one of the only 4 cards I have in my hand (if I even have that many when it's my turn LMAO) to swing 3-6 damage and pass turn" type of gameplay. Yes, thematically, it's cool, but in terms of gameplay it's so pathetically bland, so soulless. MTG's formula of having a board state and ramping mana up to powerful cards/spells just werks (TM) because it's more fun (in the Timmy sense) than admittedly brilliant thematic brawling and getting weaker as the game goes on
>>95947318there are some characters (ie. yellow Enel 7 cost and Blue Boa Hancock 6 cost) that have effects nullified when a Monkey D. Luffy character is present on the board, for thematic reasons. I think they might lean more into this kind of thing in future sets, so it makes sense that they're setting the foundation for it now. As for what I prefer (only 1 of each Character Name) I don't really care, as long as it's coded into the game's system in a fair/balanced way - and I think it is in OPTCG
Anime/Manga spoilers for those curious about the thematic reasons:
Enel is countered by Luffy because he's Lightning-based and Luffy is Rubber-based. Boa Hancock is countered by Luffy because she's in love with him, he's the only person in the world who has complete control over her
okay seriously now, has anyone ever seen somebody playing FAB outside fab specific events?
This One Piece tcg is boring as fuck to play
Barely anything interesting
Just slap Duel Masters on a popular IP and it'll sell to these retards
>>95955453>these retardsMost OPTCG players I know weren't even into the anime when they picked it up. They just liked Bamco and its potential to make a popular game. There is also mainstream appeal to a generic anime style IP that isn't oriented towards pedophiles. Normies hate that shit and love big boobers.

>>95955633I just wish TT paid just a modicum of attention to wixoss. A tiny bit of marketing and push so people know it exists.
Cause sometimes it feels like they just print the cards and nothing else.
Though I can't really blame them too much if the rumours about the amount of people they have working on eng wixoss is to be believed. Between the game dying and it being in maintenance mode, I'll go with maintenance mode.

MtG use to be pure wizard punk heavy metal. you have spelljackers so mtg in space is a possibility. its just how its handled which is shit, which is true of most sets since bradywalkers were released.
fuck mtg.
>>95955657zombie mode sucks as a player and collector, as it means less boxes open so the company prints less so things that should be cheap become pricy as fuck in meta then drop to nothing after. And good luck if you dont pull a collector card you want because chances are the puller already has a friend to sell or trade it to. oh but you wont be able to get boxes because the distributor stocks half what they use to...
If youve ever played a zombie mode game you would rather wish for its death and just play in japanese.
At least the GP had a cool winners trophy and the invites are a welcome bonus. They desperately need to outreach at anime conventions and places not facebook if they want to stop the current downward trend however.

>>95955701>>95955694I think it depends on the property. The problem is the dialogue in LoL is cringe worthy all around. Naruto CCG iirc had plenty of 1st person flavor text as it was referencing lines from the anime/manga, and it was perfectly fine.

>>95954074>I'm mostly just curious as to why Bandai Games go for 6 colors for exampleFusion World is 4, Gundam is 5, One Piece is 6.
>>95955924>>95954074>I'm just wondering if there are particular design advantages for using 5 or more specifically 6, since Bandai seems so keen on that, that I'm not entirely seeing, especially if the goal will be to design around archetypes anyway.>And I'm curious about individual preferences.Anyways. Color number isn't just a gameplay consideration, it's a product consideration. If you have 100 cards per set, and 6 colors, that's only 16 cards per color per set . And then subdivide that 16 cards by multiple archetypes, traits/synergies, and the fact that some cards will just be too weak to see play. That's especially relevant if you're talking about sealed or draft play, players need enough cards to build a deck out of their packs. The more colors you have you're also making it harder for players to build decks from their personal collection, it's easier to cobble together a deck if your collection is divided into 2 or 3 unmixable pools than 7 or 8.
In terms of preference, having played a lot of miniatures games, personally I think that 7 is the sweet spot for colors/factions. But in a tcg that would require a really big product size, so it's probably not feasible.
>>95955564Wixoss has more women SIGNI than JKs or lolis
>>95955889its more because the distro seems untrustworthy due to how they take orders and their email is like a earthlink. reaks of scam but isnt.
the demand definitely isnt their either due to Takara Tomy doing zero promotion and shops not willing to lose money on a game not guaranteed to sell like bandai slop.
>>95955694Nothing tangible, I just don't want my cards to sound like they are talking to me.
>-p-p-play me harder, A-A-Anon-samaCursed vibes for cursed creatures. No thanks.
>>95956239After a cursory google search for wixxos tcg, I found not a single character who I'd consider to be over 18 years old. Wixxos also has a general anime coomer loser vibe to it, while the One Piece artstyle does not have that at all. It has gigantic fat ugly dude with fucked up body proportions all over the place mixed in with the big boober ladies. That contributes to a very different vibe. Also the bitches in One Piece are relatively normal looking design-wise. Not a whole lot of floating decorative fluff around them. Normies pick up on that shit subconsciously at a quick glance and judge it harshly, because they understand the implication around that style: fat sweaty pedophile loser fanbase.
>>95956239I also have no idea about what a signi or a jk is, but I'm assuming only bad things.
>>95956325its true, please dont come and play wixoss if your a normalfag thanks! I only want to be around other losers.
>>95956350>signi"creatures" or "units" in wixoss
>jkjapanophile speak for "highschool age".
>>95956358You've got that, champ. Have fun!
>>95956299>just play in japaneseNah. This mindset only handicaps the game in the western sphere and dooms it to only being played by smelly otakus.
You are delusional if you think most English speaking countries would even have a community for you to play with if the only option is to play in Japanese.
>>95955694Many reasons:
It's confusing when read. When learning the card and reading it verbatim in your head, there is a short translation process necessary to understand the mechanics of the card. I'm not reading the diary of Anne Frank, I'm trying to understand how a card works.
It's also not uncommon to read verbatim card text to your opponent in over the board games, which also causes confusion.
Now that the card refers to itself in the first person, it opens up Pandora's box to refer to the player as 'you' and the opponent as god knows what. Forcing the text to be written in convoluted ways to keep things consistent. If it doesn't use pronouns for everything else then that begs the question of why bother.
It's cringe.
>>95956424weiss did for some time but you are correct. but the game will never be bigger in the west with no company support and puritans. the plus side with the art gatekeeping is the playerbase is all very relaxed and fun vs other current states.
>>95956371I am thanks bb!
>>95956510>picrelI wish I had a Wixoss local scene near me, but I can't start one because there is no distro in my country
>>95956524Im not going to sugar coat it, the current community is maybe x4 how large it was before the english release if you only count active players and those online. OpenBatoru has gained allot of players so that may change even if english dies however.
>>95956540>OpenBatoruDid they open it up to non-discord users yet
>>95956546no. discord is also how you arrange games etc. discord is just modern irc if thats how you decide to use it.
>>95956540I don't quite understand the point of your post. What aren't you trying to sugar coat?
>>95956546It's technically open I think. It's just a download link to the emulator. But they requested not to openly share it. Due to server load concerns I think.
Not sure why though. Joining the discord gives you access instantly.
>>95956535I was in a similar situation for a long time and it sucked. Glad I moved somewhere with one.
Not sure what can be done as a potential player. Just asking your local weeb lgs and showing interest in the game I guess. Or webcam games.
>>95956564>What aren't you trying to sugar coat?the game isnt much larger after 2 years in english then it was while only in japanese. It got a good traction for awhile then fell off a cliff due to various factors (TT not trying while bandai pumped out 30 anime based games in 2 years).
The server concerns / discord only are also probably in a effort to not have bad actors mess things up. Not sure how well that will actually work.
Fun that a japanese wixoss artist (and good player) plays on it now.
>>95956582Playing and giving out cards to those interested is one way, but shops will need actual sales. If you say something like "buy a case on my CC and ill pay for what doesnt sell" is one way to get a LGS to host but most wont do that.
>>95956582I will just wait for a sim that doesn't need discord
>>95956621you will wait till the end of time. its fan made and there will never be a official one.
>>95956603Ok? And how is that refuting what I said?
I said that if you want any hope of this game being played in western communities, having it in english in whatever shape or form is preferable to 'just playing in japanese'.
You then said the community is now only 4x larger. Which sounds positive to me?
You said it's because TT does not promote the game. I agree and that's why the solution is to not do that, it isn't to cancel the game.
Even if I take your word that the game isn't much larger now, where are you getting this metric and on what region? Cause if the game didn't exist in my region before and now it does, it's a win for me regardless of how the global figure looks like.
>OpenBatoru An emulator is nice and all but I want to own cards and be able to play with them. An emulator isn't going to grow a game, it's only going to serve existing players.
>>95956701>where are you getting this metric and on what region?shops listed as sellers on TT site. GP attendance. Ceremony attendance and frequency. Online posting about game amount. Tcgplayer sales (FoW outsells it).
>win for meprobably because youve never played a zombie game. its not a fun position to have.
The emulator is already getting new players as a few last GP this past weekend started playing on it prior. A free way to play a game with no local community will always attract new players.
>>95956723>probably because youve never played a zombie game. its not a fun position to have. Is wixoss a zombie game? I'm playing eng wixoss, does that count?
Also, again, I don't think you quite got my point. I'm saying I reject the mentality of 'might as well die and just play Japanese' is going to lead to the game being even more niche or outright dead in most English communities. So unless you think otherwise or have evidence otherwise, you are just talking past me. It's not about how fun it is for you personally dawg.
Also, are you from Asia or SEA? Because it doesn't sound like you quite grasp the idea that if it isn't in English, that's a death kneel in a lot of locals.
>The emulator is already getting new playersAnd where will this emulator get real new players from if the game isn't represented in their lgs for them to even want to seek one out?
>no local communityYeah I don't care.
>>95956793Im anerican, play, and make content for wixoss. Im well aware of the games situation.
Ive played tons of small niche games, I dont think you truly understand how bad a barely supported game with limited boxes and very few lgs can be.
>i dont care (about players with no local community)thats 99% of them as the game has less then 20 shops even carrying nationwide.
>>95955633>last GPis EN wixoss kill or was it by "last" did you just mean "most recent"?
>>95956950last weekend. it was even streamed.
>>95956863>I dont think you truly understand how bad a barely supported game with limited boxes and very few lgs can be.So is wixoss a zombie game or not? You gonna answer that?
I have never refuted how much it sucks. I agree with what you said initially about how it sucks. I have expressed, in other posts, how privileged I am to have a local. I just don't agree that I would prefer no eng release in comparison to 'zombie mode'. And I said multiple times why. You just keep coming back to 'it sucks'.
Why don't you tell me how EN dying and existing players playing JP helps the situation?
You said that TT has much blame to bear for the state of EN wixoss, so the solution is to jump ship completely and play JP. How does that help things?
You're American. Good, so you understand English. Stop talking past me. Address what I actually said. I'm done after this post if you aren't actually speaking to my point.
>thats 99% of them as the game has less then 20 shops even carrying nationwide.Emulators and online communities are great. I love OpenBatoru. But it cannot be the end all be all of a tcg. If you are satisfied with an online community playing emulators online, that's great. I want to be able to actually play fucking cards and have a reason to buy and collect them. 'just play Japanese' will not cause things to head in that direction so I'm not for it.
Also, don't fucking misquote me. I didn't say I didn't care about the players. I said I don't care about a 'solution' that doesn't factor in local communities. A free way to play a game with no local community isn't going to foster a local community.
>>95956950NTA but he means most recent.
>>95957018As it stands the game will 100% die in english. a zombie game is the slow descent as quality and other things go to shit. A good example of this is how it took TT 2 years to stop the guy selling stolen high end from the factories and making boxes worth jack.
so what happens when no one buys boxes? lgs stop carrying. then they stop getting promos etc and the local player base dies. the distro buys less boxes (already happening) because less get bought. then the few players left get frustrated they cant find needed cards to play (already happening, and no telling new plays "just buy boxes online" will not inspire new players). We arnt at that point yet, but then you get situations where needed to play cards are both "cheap" but also impossible to find. so no new person will want to deal with that crap. were lucky the next few sets have a soft reboot so if we actually get the starters it will help that, but time will tell. TT postponing set 16 for a month with no word and vaguely off info from the distro is also a huge red flag.
I have 3 locals near me, but all 3 have less then 10 players on a good day. 1 of them is basically just friends meeting. only 1 of the shops carry any product sans what the 4 players order prior to release. thats not sustainable. so whether you like it or not, at the rate its going, its either cut off and accept jpn or wait till it dies and play jpn or a different english game. its a "when" question of the death not a "if" at this point.
>blah blah talking pastlmao.
>doesnt factor local communitiesthere are less local communities now then ever. the emulator is a small glimmer for getting people interested. how do you think local communities start, magic? people realize they like the game, convince the lgs to host, and play. a lgs just stocking the game (which most wont due to distro and being burned) wont create a community. people playing and realizing how good the game is then working hard to form one does.
>>95957107>lmao.Ok I've had enough. I gave you the courtesy to actually read your posts and points and address them. Seems like you have zero interest in reciprocating.
I'm done. Carrying on talking about whatever.
>>95957129my entire post just addressed your "points" but ok retard. tag me on openbatoru so i can block you lmao :^)
>>95956481>it opens up Pandora's box to refer to the player as 'you'Isn't that what 100% of card games already do?
Just found out the owner of the store that used to hold Kryptik (and has since shut down so the aforementioned owner can roam the country in an RV) was unfathomably based. As in, has a huffpo article denouncing him, which quotes him using the phrase "it's anudda shoah".
I got along with him but he always gave me "too intense" vibes and the way he treated his daughter-wife always gave me bad vibes - he seemed like a great dad though.
Wherever you are these days, Sal, I hope it's somewhere nicer than central New England.
>>95957421Isn't that guy a known Prod Boy eceleb? He used to own a TCG store? I didn't know that.
>unfathomably basedWhoopty-fucking-doo. So are 90% of the posters here.
>>95954959Read the rules and it seems fine. Really don't like the art and the theme is kinda bland. It's just mythology ... Not saying that isn't cool, but that's your whole theme? I hate magic as much as the next fag, but at least they had cool themes with custom characters/lore each set. Well not recently, but you know what I mean.
I don't dislike the resource system (Influence) in Rush, because it's literally just DON from OP. The weird thing is that the rules say "10 Influence cards. Decks can contain no more than 2 copies of any card." I am looking at all the Influence cards and they are textless, full arts very similar to DON cards. So why the fuck does it matter if all your Influence cards are the same? There are no features on them that do anything other than tap for mana.
The game also has Infusion cards which are clear overlays. It's a cool idea and one I've seen used in board games ... I just feel like it's kind of meh. The game very easily could have not had them or had Enchantment cards and it would change nothing other than being a quirky feature to have clear plastic cards.
Rush was made to be a 3v3 ... 1v1 and 2v2 exist as alternative ways of playing. This game was made with 3v3 in mind, which I don't think is the best idea and probably why it will be DOA.
>>95957015>>95957018TY. Was worried the game was actually dying in EN because of the doomposting. I just play casually but I like following the GPs because the notion of getting to go to a JP event is neat.
Personally, I don't mind that the game is niche. It might mean it dies some day but at least wixoss seems to fly under the radar with regrads to twitter/tumblr/discord type people.
>>95957743most of the players play via discord and the entire jpn playerbase is on twitter. it i actually dying if your talking just sales and stores selling product, sadly.
>>95957468Yeah, from mid 2022 to early 2025, he owned one on the border of MA and RI.
>>95957872I only saw his shenanigans around 2015-2016. And how did he lose that store? Did he lose it because he was cancelled?
>>95957944The official story is he had money from investments and so could afford to shut it down and roam the country in an RV with his wife + 2 kids. The local story is that there were a bunch of back taxes on the store (and on the Cafe next to it he also was part owner of), and so he sold it off and bailed. The store is still there under a new name and owners but it's basically a Pokรฉmon singles shop and doesn't even have tables anymore.
>>95958110Thanks for the update. It would've been more interesting to see if the broader TCG playing community would tolerate a guy like that (or worse). I guess we'll have to wait for another case to stress test that.
I myself am outlandishly tolerant btw. I play with- and am on good terms with all kinds of TCG players all over the political spectrum. As long as you don't bring your unrelated hobbies and politics too much into the card playing time, I'll hang out with pretty much anybody. An LGSs is holy ground.
>>95957107>TT really might be getting ready to kill ENI just need them to get to WX24 so I can get those new starter decks, damn it.
>>95957331Kinda, but not really. I suppose that was a bad example but I was more highlighting the difference between a pronouns based reference system to a noun/article based one. For example:
>You draw X cards As opposed to
>Draw X cards Normally you wouldn't use 'you' unless necessary. But when cards refer to themselves using 'I' like they are talking to you, it kinda sets up the expectation that everything will be referred to via pronouns.
>>95958255okay, desu I don't feel that way. When I see 'I' I read it as if the card was explaining to me what it does, but like any imperative instruction it would just tell me "draw cards" and not "you draw cards"
