How do you think GW has handled the cult legions vs the divergent Space Marine chapters?
>>95904101 (OP)PREVIOUS THREAD BECAUSE I AM A DUMBASS
>>95899717
Firstborn are 8ft tall, primaris are 9-10ft tall.
I stop building because fingers hurt.
Otherwise I'm 120 of 120 hormagaunts and 9 of 18 leapers built!
Once leapers are built, it will be broodlord on that weird fucking base I have no clue what I'm doing with.
I may make the Neurolictors more daddy-longlegs feeling. But with stabby talons.
>TQ
Divergent chapters were a good idea on paper, but currently we're almost through this edition and Space Marines have been nerfed so many times because if they even get a crumb of 49% winrate something gets dumpstered, this trickles down to the non compliant chapters who may or may not get fucked by whatever shit GW is cooking up
Chaos is currently living their best life because if one warband gets nerfed it doesn't also fuck up the other ones
>>95904101 (OP)They wont make a full cultist army
That no one would buy them
>>95904101 (OP)Since I fucked up by posting right at the end of the last thread, I'll try again. Does anyone have some good recommendations for Primaris Scale cyborg limb bits? I got a box of Marines that I want to turn into an Iron Hands Successor chapter, but I want to use some of the more crazy/exotic cybernetics that you see in the art.
>>95904135There's a detachment for that. It sorta works with a bit of rending to the cultists.
But it pales to other choices.
>>95904148If you're good at sawing little dowels, gluing plastic string, floss, bending mini wire and using the marines original hands you cut off the arm you can probably do it yourself.
Can I make good use out of the Acid Spray Fex? I have mine already modeled and I like the look of it, but doesn't seem like it has the same "oomf" it used to.
>>95904121At least post good elf art
move forward and engage targets
>>95904129That model on the right is the only marine I've seen that doesn't have a single part of it that I'd want to steal for a conversion.
Does anyone have any tips for making a Medicae that would work in both 40K and HH?
>>95904128When you finish this army you should do a gsc army of spiders wearing shoes and holding guns
>>95904189>>95904189I'm looking for excuses to add more units like scorpion/trap door spider mawlock or something. But I'm fizzling a bit, I still need to figure out a paint scheme.
Currently looking into color shift paint and I would do bottom a dark shift, the top with a bright shift. With how they work I can drybrush shiny black and spray again to get multi-shifts.
>>95904170I made it long ago, I will try to be better
>>95904207Careful I remember the avatarfagging long ago, the mods carpet banned everyone. They left and never returned.
>all of the meme artists left>all of the cultist chan artists left>all of the other chan artists left>no more art request threads for yearsYeah be careful.
>>95904216Well that sucks.
>>95904233It was a nasty episode of power mongering.
We lost roughly 20 artists and they were quite talented. I have some vintage of their stuff they did for my requests on another computer.
>the computer before that died and I lost half of it
>can't hobby this weekend because I'll be drinking and puking and eating and stuff all weekend because midsummer celebration with relatives
>>95904198Mixing/layering pearls sometimes has some very strange results, I'd suggest doing lots of tests
>>95904252It's going to get a test model or two I plan on stripping. I need to get my old airbrush working again. So much to resurrect for the spider project.
My idea is dark shift purple-gold and do a bright yellow/green gold on top. Two different companies makes the two I will shift together.
>>95904181I'm the opposite, I think it's a banger model and everypart of it is incredible
>>95904242Don't drink, Helvete
>>95904184What's different between the two?
>>95904282Kรคften, I like my bread and potato juice.
>>95904280It's weird enough that I can see someone liking it. It is just so weird though
Anon who mentioned doing a demo game for a university tabletop/anime club here:
Friend and I decided on Blood Angels vs Nids, just a 1000 pt game to make it as shrimple as possible. I got a good variety of nid models: What are good nid models to show off to newbies?
>>95904290To each their own, that's the magic of a wide range / Fuck you for not liking it reeeeeee [cross out the unnecessary mention]
What kind of techmarine (or equivalent) do you like?
>>95904287Then stop complaining >:O
>>95904101 (OP)>How do you think GW has handled the cult legions vs the divergent Space Marine chapters?Poorly, but only due to the realities of it I think.
I think the Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves (and I guess now Black Templars) should have enough unique units that they essentially have what was done with the Cult Legions and they lose access to 'base' Space Marine units unless they run a specific soup Detachment. On the Cult Legion side, I feel like World Eaters and Thousand Suns are just lacking in range, but the same could be said for many armies in the game.
In my ideal world, all armies would recieve equal attention, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Black Templars and Raven Guard would be spun out into their own Codices. T'au would split into T'au and Xeno Mercenaries (Kroot et al). Or just squat the Kroot, fuck em.
>>95904318I always liked the metal one with the 4 robot arms, he's pretty cool
>>95904345I like his little nose, he's a classic
I think the other day on /hhg/ someone posted a neat kitbash using that model as a base, it was gorgeous
I think my fav techmarine model might be the previous warpsmith, sad it wasn't plastic
Is it kind of weird that not every faction has all of the Librarian/Chaplain/Apothecary/Techmarine tetrad? You would think they'd all get one for equivalency.
>>95904242Just don't have any friends.
Ez pz.
>>95904385No. Not if you go with lore and somehow they need to be a bit distinct.
>>95904385Which faction other than marines has it complete?
>>95904181>>95904290Allow me to change your mind:
This body with a bolter (or so) and mechanicus-style power axe in either hand, one blank (for chapter symbol) + one techmarine symbol sculpted shoulder pad, and a servo-arm.
Painted in red + random chapter colours would look epic as a techmarine model.
Chuck in 2-3 servitor entourage of varying loadout.
This is the most dead I've seen the general in a while.
Anyway to spark discussion: What's your favourite mission in the history of the game? Doesn't have to be 10th, you can pull something from Rogue Trader if you want to.
>>95904591I think I would even have to go as far as the first scenario ever, in Rogue Trader. The one with the Crimson Fists and the ork-heist.
>>95904601That's the one in the rulebook about the farm land, yeah?
Typhus is a terminator character with T7, 6 wounds, 6 S9 AP-2 D3 attacks. a good sweep and a smite that averages a bit over 3 mortal wounds
And that's still not enough to find a place in lists lmao
>>95904591I don't think I have a specific favorite mission. Though I do remember a very cool one me and some buddies played back in 8th where we did a moving battlefield by shifting all terrain pieces some distance (think it was 10") while we used a bunch of vehicles and transports to keep up with the speed.
>>95904629You guys remembered the fluff reason your group came up for that mission? That sounds fascinating.
>>95904631It was part of a narrative campaign we were doing, just basic stuff about chaos forces invading an imperial world. It's rather fuzzy because it was almost a decade ago, but I think that particular mission was about the chaos dudes chasing down some important imperial.
>>95904613Yeah.
Me and my buddy made a sort of mini campaign with a monster living under the hill (Bultha's Rise) using some old plastic toy, and the monster would get riled up from all the fighting and attack orks and marines alike,
>>95904129Lmaooooooo so smol
>>95904622Anon, Typhus is a very good fighter, but just the profile of any model isn't all that matters for their competetive viability. Their points cost is very important because even the greatest beatstick is bad if its too expensive in points. There's also the matter of internal balance, and Typhus competes with two other very good terminator characters in DG, especially the LoC who has basically the exact same role (melee beatstick) but gives out insane buffs to his unit while only being slightly worse in combat. He fits much better into Deathshroud than Typhus does.
So Typhus role becomes the Poxwalker buffer, but there's no point in trying to make Poxwalkers into anything other than meatshields, so there's no real point to taking Typhus either. Not because he's bad (he isn't) but simply because he doesn't fit in anywhere in the current meta and doesn't do anything a LoC won't do except he's more expensive and can't carry enhancements.
>>95904452I don't think anyone but Marines have a chaplain equivalent. Except maybe imperial guard and sisters. Psyker/Medic/Mechanic are pretty common across most ranges though.
>>95904628I'm painting so I'm kinda not focused on the thread that much
>>95904101 (OP)>How do you think GW has handledBadly.
>>95904663You forgot CSM have evil chaplains in their dark apostles lol
Yes guard have their preachers. Can't remember who else has a chaplain type (aside from SoB)
18 attacks seems to be one of the highest individual attacks for a weapon, but what's the highest number of attacks a full unit could output? Back in 9th, I think Wyches had it pretty high if you gave them the right buffs and stratagems. I know from experience that Aggressors could get nutty.
>>95904628Americans are off celebrating Juneteenth by lighting something on fire, probably
>>95904692Their civilization, such as it is, really does revolve around, you know.
>>95904683I was including them in Marines.
Another archetype that only seems to exist in those same armies is the Standard bearer/Ancient which several a similar motivational role.
>>95904686A unit of 20 berzerkers in berzerker warband can do 100 attacks on the charge (5 each) plus a characters, though you'd probably want a few glaives in there which would slightly reduce the number of attacks.
A BT primaris crusader squad can also be a 20-man unit where almost every model does 5 attacks per dude.
>>95904297My friend and I had a 1000 point game between blood angels and nids yesterday, it was pretty brutal. I hadn't played BA in years and wanted to get some old models out, so unless I accidentally had some insanely meta list, my conclusion BA are a lot stronger than nids currently.
I'd recommend genestealers, exocrines and tyranofexes to level the playing field a bit.
I cant remember what it was called but there was a unit that gave a 6+FNP to nearby units that came in clutch a good couple of times
On a related topic, what lesser xeno-races would you like to see rules for? Not necessarily minis but stats and rules in a .pdf and perhaps some ideas for kitbashing them?
I'm partial for Hrud, since they're them more-or-less most well known to me.
>>95904297id go for the classic recognizably guys
tyrant, warriors, carnifex and gaunt spam
then +haruspex because that model is sick and everyone loves seeing it
>>95904718>unit that gave a 6+FNP to nearby unitsthey just removed that ability from its data sheet lmao
FNP rolls are a plague upon the game and anything that reduces their frequency is a blessing
>>95904766stop hitting me with damage 2 then it wouldn't take so long
>>95904766That's funny because I've rarely ever made a successful fnp roll and that's with a big unit of boyz with a painboy, that every opponent unloads everything into. The 2 damage shit is even more fucked, it's a good way to slow the game down that's for sure
How's your June vehicle coming along, /40kg/?
>>95904727Enslavers.
They're easy to convert, you can use a plethora of other models as their slaves, and could have very interesting gameplay dynamics where you can mind control enemy units.
Other easy stuff is profiles for random xenomegafauna you're meant to convert with tyranid and lizardmen models, or customisable profiles to add other alien races as units allied to the tau empire, a unit made of large based dudes close to a marine but with less armour would let you convert tarellian dog soldiers from lizardmen, or sylvaneth models into fungus-like things, or another kind of insectoid aliens, a generic profile like that and then a generic lone operative profile with various utility options like healing, shielding, psychic protection, could give you the tool to add one galg or one nicassar or whatever else fits the base.
Imperial agents expansion is coming
I can feel it...
>>95904727Khrave
40k really needs a vampire counts faction with non-imperium human serfs
>>95904692At 7 AM? Anyone who gives a shit about that is more likely sleeping in or getting ready for work.
>>95904660Typhus is 20 points cheaper than a LoC. I don't disagree with your post, Typhus is in a situation where DG have so much good stuff there are better uses for 90 points but that says more about how absolutely juiced up DG is honestly, because at 90 points such a beatstick with deep strike seriously entered "might as well run this guy solo" territory like he did before.
But the LoC problem is correct. I think a good fix to the whole DST and LoC issue would be removing sustained hits from the LoC and giving it to the DST datasheet when they're led, removing the 6'' deep strike. I think that would solve a ton of issues while also opening other leaders for DST.
Two keywords also just strike me as too much to give simply for leading. The standard is one.
>>95904895I'm nearly done! Just need to varnish the thing and add a little bit of weathering
>>95904906Mate, you'll be lucky if they still have a codex next edition.
And if they do get an expansion, it will be by gobbling up another small faction like Grey Knights.
>>95904902This artwork always creeped me out when thinking about Enslavers. The bug in people's heads, the way they wrap themselves around your head when enslaving you, skin crawling.
>Thousand Sons only get tiny bird bots in 40k
Remember what they took from you
>>95904928If you remove the 6" deepstrike from Deathshrouds they become a completely different unit.
>>95904942Yeah, and I don't think that's a bad thing. I don't think DG should have essentially an unavoidable deep strike threat, I don't think it's very thematic for us. Rapid ingress, weathering some shooting and then getting stuck in seems more appropriate for me.
Maybe you could change it to free rapid ingress if done near an afflicted unit? So you keep the "Death approaches" theme.
>>95904933Gobble up imperial knights and deathwatch, both are the inquisition's boytoys anyway
>>95904936they could be the penultimate soup faction but we know gw doesnt want that
>>95904895slowly
but work is letting up, so I'll probably get it done in time
>>95904343>raven guard get their own codexGee I wonder what SM faction you play anon
>faction is called Imperial Agents
>faction keyword is Agents of the Imperium
Makes no sense.
>>95904956Here's an idea. Make Imperial Agents a core books and make Deathwatch, Grey Knights, and Sisters all supplements for it. Imperial Knights should be a supplement for AdMech or Imperial Guard.
>>95905037The faction name Agents of the Imperium has more history from the previous edition but it doesn't fit on a codex cover so they needs something a little shorter. Hence, Imperial Agents
Do you think the Emperor used the power of his captive CTan shard in making his Primarchs the same way he used gifts from the Chaos Gods?
>>95905065No, because why would he? Chaos is stronger than the C'tan.
>>95905065>humanity "imprisoning" a shard of c'tanftfy
>>95905065>old loreBurden of truth, nig.
>>95904895Is done. Gonna do one of my half dozen primed but unpainted SM characters next, and then start on my stormsurge.
>>95905071Is the Dragon of Mars free and active? I know it has a guardian in the labyrinth but I'm not sure how deep its influence on the Technocracy extends.
>>95905084The FSE guy did it better.
>>95905070Because he isn't beholden to either and can use both as suits his needs or whims to create something greater?
>>95904936That isn't artwork of enslavers though anon. Very common misconceptipn but they're just some other minor-xenos that implants wasp things to mind control people. Notice there's no interdimensional portal to the warp more full grown enslavers are coming out of. Also those things look nothing like Enslavers
So where is the Legionary with Lascannon bit? Just a Havoc model?
Dark Eldar refresh is coming. I can feel it.
>>95904148sorry to tell you anon but it seems you're shit out of luck. The best course of action IMO would be to find somebody selling the bits on etsy or myminifactory etc. There is plenty of what you are looking for
Should I have Canis Rex as an ally in my marines start on board or rapid ingress in then get a big charge?
>>95905117That isn't artwork of enslavers though anon. Very common misconceptipn but they're just some other minor-xenos that implants wasp things to mind control people. The Adrian Smith are is genuinely not Enslavers though, they've looked like your pic in RT and look like pic related now. Never did they look like body horror wasp alien things
>>95905133Can't wait for them to succ the sovl right out of them

Do characters with -1cp cost rules let themselves rapid ingress for free or do they have to be on the battlefield to get the ability to -1cp cost themselves

haha cool I didn't want to paint today anyways
>>95905324As long as they arenโt in a transport, yes.
>>95904936Those are not enslavers though, but a random mind controlling bug.
Is there a full catalog of known warp beasts somewhere? It's such a a weird part of the lore that is never really mentioned outside of occasionally explaining weird minor Xenos.
>>95904130>and Space Marines have been nerfed so many times because if they even get a crumb of 49% winrate something gets dumpsteredThat's because they're the beginner army made for kids (unironically) so if they even have a 50% winrate despite all the terribad noobs dragging it down it means their actual winrate amongst real players is fucking BROKEN.
>>95905171The only official enslaver "art" is a conversion from the rules they had back in the day.
>>95905133Careful what you wish for. It'll probably ruin a bunch of the models.
>>95905342We've been over this. The starter army effect is way less impactful on win rates than you might think.
You realize tournament stats already eliminate most small scale local tournaments, right? Space Marines aren't even the most popular army in tournament play.
>>95905342Thatโs not entirely accurate. But then again I have a like 60% W/L in firestorm. Granted if an actual meta list even looks my way it evaporates. Just stay away from tourneys kids.
>>95905342This is false. DG have higher presence in the tournament scene than Marines.

When did the poopoo marines become the face of Chaos?
>>95905368>Good players just tend to avoid marines as they are bad. This is true of a lot of armies, especially ones that are usually peoples side army. Custodes and Knights both get mass abandoned in the competitive scene the second their rules are bad because those people all have other armies they could play. Only die hard faction specialists stick through it for faction with bad wonrates like those handful of crazy guys who push through tournament wins with GSC, AdMech, Drukhari, and Deathwatch
>>95905065my head canon is that the primarchs were like 90% engineered by chaos and big E only stroke that good a bargain because
1. the gods knew of (or at least highly suspected) the coming millennia of food for the warp
2. the fact that they were "somehow" spread across the empire has a very chaotic element to it . this is also pointing at little direct human influence despite the primarchs being apparently really easy to find
3. it is to be suspected that big E made a bargain with each god individually because otherwise the chaos gods would actually have all cooperated with each other (completely ridiculous premise)
I just want to add that all this talk about lesser warp entities like the emperor is pointless since gork and mork are the mightiest gods anyway
>>95905402When they became a starter army and got the largest army range of any chaos faction and so because the most popular by a wide margin.

>>95905412>it is to be suspected that big E made a bargain with each god individually because otherwise the chaos gods would actually have all cooperated with each other (completely ridiculous premise)This actually makes a fair bit of sense. I reckon at the least, if he actually spoke with any of them to cut a deal, it would have been Yzeentch.
That said, I surmise that the Gods would have objected all together at this possible power rising up in a way that would be a threat, and would put aside petty grievances to stomp down on a fucking MORTAL who pretended to be a god.
>>95905540nta. But calling RT 40k is like calling the WW1 and WW2 the same thing just because both happen in Europe.
Similar, but no the same thing
>>95905564We're talking about an element of the fluff that hasn't been contradicted or changed one bit, enslavers exist, work like that, and rogue trader offers a potential depiction of one, there's not much to argue, rogue trader is a valid source for this.
>>95905564Not him but no, this is some fucking meme shit peddled by retards that have never read old editions at all.

>>95905326Paint? Why would humidity affect acrylic paint?
Do you mean prime with a spray can? You can still prime minis, just leave your door open and spray the mini so that the fumes are exiting your house. That way the primer is still in your air conditioned house and the fumes exit out the door.
>>95905709nta but I've seen entire sheets of paint shift on a car hood because of humidity in the 50% range

>>95905709it will affect acrylic paint if you're airbrushing (and dont have a moisture trap)
>>95905739consider this
you are in a bucket zone where the moisture condenses and the air is body temperature but you sweat in the sun
that sort of weather condition adds moisture to a mix and your sheen or matte finish you aim for is scattered, has fissure lines or wont stick to the model
imagine having a dust problem but it's water... you wouldn't want to do that to your model
>>95905760(keep) aidsmen at arms (length)
>>95905832why is she so squat
>>95905765>(and dont have a moisture trap)Didn't know they played 40k on Arrakis.
>>95905862We've been wondering that for a year now.
>>95905862Because female custodes are only 92,1% as tall as male custodes, who instead average at 8' of height, so the unisex armor intended for someone over 7,5" inch bigger than the female custodes is loose and squatty-looking once worn.
>>95905874I can tell you don't work with air tools much. Any air compressor naturally compresses some amount of moisture in the air and causes water to condense in your air lines. You need either a moisture trap or a dryer to filter the water out of your compressed air before pushing it through any kind of air tools, especially a paint system where adding water to the air could ruin the flow rate and atomization of the paint.
I like the space marine remaster

>>95905947Spearhead does this thing to balance boxes with more points by making you have to start some units in reserve and letting you put some smaller battleline units back into reserves as reinforcements when they die that might help out Combat Patrol.
Like make Grey Knights start their Dread in reserves and let AdMech replay their Skitarii again after the die.
They also let you combat squad 10-man units into two 5-mans for better coverage and more activations
>>95905947Combat patrol is fine for people who are starting out. Once you are proficient enough to realise how shit it is, you can just move on to playing incursion games. Incursion is where 40k happiness exsists.

>>95906002I've heard the game isn't really "balanced for incursion". Is it just because of big super units like Knights and Primarchs are too difficult to respond to without more points?
>>95905947Iโm gonna be honest, even if combat patrol IS good, unless the combat patrols are battleforce sized boxes, I donโt fucking care about the game mode. $170 is too fucking much of an ask to play a game. >>95906014I think GW cracked the code with putting underworld warbands into Spearhead boxes. "The upsell" to catch new players.

Vanguard seems to require centurions, but what other units can take their place?
Currently, because they can't uppy downy anymore, I am skeptical of how good cents perform in the role they are meant to do. On paper, a repulsor executioner does more damage to the same targets, has better mobility, occupies a similar footprint as 6 centurions, and doesn't need a strategem. Cents do have more wounds, but they pay the same points per wounds and their survivability vs various scenarios is really different but relatively equal.

Will GW ever make the decision to outright deify Big E? The set up is technically already there, the Golden Throne is gradually failing and something has to be done when it does.
>>95906747I'm still mad that some of my characters got squatted without even getting legends rules so now they're only undersized proxies for other stuff.
>>95906752The warp doesn't do time, so any warp power can really be used retroactively its not a trait of being a god,

>>95906750You have to understand anon, GW only follows that policy when it would inconvenience you specifically.
>>95906752No, the universe will literally warp to prevent him ever getting off the throne because the vast majority of all psychically sensitive sentients in the Galaxy believe in one thing above all else:

>>95906757Cool, so the Dark King will exist so we should already see his agents and influence acting in the current era, right?
>>95906760No model=no rules
Is funny because Aberrant Hypermorph and acolyte with pistol exist and are the only options being sold, but they are missing the rules for them.
Aberrant one is more annoying because rules mention them, but they do nothing with it and it is not possible to build the aberrant kit without one. So the units of ten must include two.

>>95906781>Is funny because Aberrant Hypermorph and acolyte with pistol exist and are the only options being sold, but they are missing the rules for them.Just because no model=no rules doesn't mean yes model=yes rules.

>>95906807The generic one no, but they can take twin lightning claws and the box doesn't come with that either. The Blood Angels box absolutely did though
>>95906807I don't see a heavy flamer option on wahapedia, forgive me if they're not there.
So what all do we expect to get culled from the Space Marine line-up at the end of the edition? The rest of the non-vehicle firstborn at least, right?
>>95906770it can be a warp phenomenon, just one that gets around whatever system the pylons use
>>95906824>The generic one noAnd there we go, no model thus no rules. Blood Angels box has been dead for a bit.
>>95906842I don't know why they'd stop at the infantry. They sell predator and land raider replacements. Technically they sell Terminator replacements too, there's no reason they couldn't squat brand new models, they do it in AoS all the time.
>>95906847Again, sergeants can take gear that doesn't come in that box though, so no model YES rules.
Why does Belisarius Cawl hate mixed loadouts in infantry squads?
>>95906842probably everything infantry but tacticals
>>95906770pylons close off the connection to the warp, normal psykers draw energy from the warp, but faith generates warp energy rather than using energy from elsewhere.
>>95906861This isn't about them though, it's about the heavy flamer.
>>95906870What's the difference?
>>95906861>>95906870>>95906876Also if we want to keep it to what comes in the box, tacs can take all manner of heavy weapons that don't come in the box. The box only comes with a missile launcher.
If I use a wall of vehicles and I have infantry behind them that cannot be seen with laser pointers does that count as being unable to shoot at them?
The newer rules confuses me with the "see a tip of a finger, the whole squad can be hit" and "if it's behind another model, it doesn't count as cover unless it has a rule stating it like the baneblade"
>>95906876GW arbitrarily decided it.
>>95906757>>95906766>>95906770>>95906788I see, well if thatโs the case that godhood is just the amount of power one has/ultimately undefined as a category, then I think the ambiguity of the Emperorโs power/godhood may be better for the setting as a whole.

>>95906207I don't subscribe to that but I do like the idea that Genestealers were an early acquisition for whatever the Hive Mind was when it was first getting started and that much of the Tyranid genetic blueprint is derived from them, which is why they're the only ones that hybridize, why Ymgarls can do the shit they do, and why Genestealers default to the blue and purple colors after being away from a specific Hive Fleet for long enough.

I actually think it's a mistake on gw's part to try to put such a large divide on 30k and 40k sharing models. I'm not going to buy a single 30k model as it stands now becauuse I don't play 30k and they don't share models, but if they did share models I would buy some 30k admech and some marines and vehicles to accent my existing 40k armies. To me it felt more like deploying an army with logical unit structure than putting down game pieces following game logic. Sure you had specialist units but the core of most armies was something like:
Squad of guys
Squad of guys, but with choice of heavy weapons
Squad of guys, but with close combat weapons and better movement or special rules
Squad of Veteran guys, with some higher stats and more weapons options
Squads of guys on bikes

I will concede it makes the factions samey if they all follow this core structure. I just have a harder time picturing my forces as an actual army when every unit is it's own special thing.
>>95907398Probably just a leftover from when the point of a combi-weapon was a limited-use extra special weapon in the squad. Combi-specials isn't really needed, just give the weapon two shot profiles like missile launchers and plasma weapons.
I'm a 30yo female and my favorite pairing is Roboute and Yvraine because it's cute and they should work together. I don't really care for m/m pairings and I don't identify as a fujo.

It's worth mentioning that this was my first actual Ork looted vehicle, too. If I were to do it again I'd definitely add more plasticard paneling around the regular parts to make it orkier and definitely more damage all around.
Also, the Ork aquila is my favorite part, too.

>>95906587Lorewise the Warlocks are medics because they can have psychic powers that knit you back together, but GW won't give them rules for some reason.
Bonesinger should come back, it's lame they made it Legends.
>>95907645just play marines
>>95906650Do they, though?
Magus is kind of a combination Librarian/Chaplain so they don't actually have a proper Chaplain.
Nexos and Clamavus are "tech guys" but not in the repairs vehicles kind of way, they're weird comms specialists.
Biophagus is lorewise a sort of medic unit at least, but he doesn't actually heal anything in-game.
The rest of their characters are Assassins, Bodyguards and Lieutenants
>>95907537...yeah, alright, they're kinda cool sometimes

>>95907690I guess, but I still think that's not quite the same as proper Techmarines.
Although I'll grant you I overlooked the Kelermorph who is probably the closest to a pseudo-Chaplain with his whole "inspiring hero" schtick.
>>9590769740k was always meant to be played as campaigns, anyone who has spent literal years of their life just doing one-off after one-off after one-off is a retard who robbed themself of the true experience. It's like they never took the training wheels off the bike.
>>95907645Tau doesn't have proper bikes actually.
>>95907700GSC have a bunch of sub archetypes and their vehicles are just two. Truck and ridgerunner, while lorewise it's their own crew and the cult as a whole that upkeeps the vehicle pool. So gameplaywise there is little reason to have a dedicated model for it.
Closest thing you could have is the Nexos or a the Clamavus.
Religious things are cover by Magus, Kelermorph and Clamavus. Hell even the Abominant, Iconward and Locus could count as those.
GSC overlaps a lot with the ministorum
>>95907743>while lorewise it's their own crew and the cult as a whole that upkeeps the vehicle pool. So gameplaywise there is little reason to have a dedicated model for it.Yeah that's fair.

>>95907302I still think an Astartes civil war would be cool though. Gives em a chance to sell twice the amount of miniatures, and with the primarchs coming back gives a bit of "those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it" edge to it.
>>95906940>>95907600That's KINO, good work bud. I like the parts with the black brick(?) with the runes on it.

>>95907795>I still think an Astartes civil war would be cool thoughSo make one with your playgroup, put Primaris havers on one side and Firstborn on the other and do your own local campaign. It doesn't have to be Official GW galaxy-wide lore, it can just be a contained thing in one region like Badab War was.
>>95907810Badab War had a campaign book tbf but hell yeah it'd be a good time. I wonder how many players I could get for it though. I think I'd take the Index firstborn characters and brew some sheets for them though.
>>95907810It'd go a lot like any WW2 campaign where no one wants to play the bad guys, its gonna be all germans or in this case primaris players
>>95907818Yeah it got that Forge World book eventually but even still you gotta remember half the point of those GW campaign books is to inspire you to make your own stuff.
Also most people probably don't know this but the original Badab War lore was just a White Dwarf article from 1988 to explain why so many space marines were fighting each other back in the very early days of Rogue Trader when Marines were the only faction in the game to have any plastic minis.
>>95907720They have piranhas
I don't get the Iron Hands. The flesh is weak makes sense when you're a lowly human with a life expectancy of 80 years but when you're a Space Marine you close to the apex of what a human can become, so cutting pieces of yourself seems silly.
>>95907854A 2-man light vehicle bigger than a land speeder isn't a bike
>>95907885They've all got generational trauma since emotions are the flesh and they think it is the emotions that led to Ferrus going down like he did
>>95907885Because machines are still better, and being a larger stronger human means you can attach bigger heavier pieces of machinery to yourself.
>>95907901So I guess it not making sense is the whole point?
>>95907885They don't do it for entirely rational reasons.
>>95907885>but when you're a Space Marine you close to the apex of what a human can becomeIs that so?
>>95907885They all have an autistic self-loathing and insecurity about their lack of ability to protect themselves so they cope by chopping themselves up and calling it strength
>>95907929Thallax isn't a human just because it has a mutilated human as the not-AI
>>95907912Yes, the current Chapter Master of the Iron Hands straight up thinks that it's a self-destructive curse and he's trying to tardwrangle his Marines. If he gets a model he might succeed.
The view is Ferrus died because of bad judgement due to emotions -> emotions weak -> emotions part of the flesh -> forsake the flesh, forsake emotions
Stronos thinks "getting really angry is good for a marine, actually" and all of the other Iron Fathers are thinking "this moron is going to get himself killed like Ferrus did due to his emotions"
>>95907912After the heresy while the primarchs death was still fresh they decided to have a conclave and just decided all problems was human emotion and thus were going to purge all weakness from their human selves. The machine stuff is just a part of that and then they started getting too buddy buddy with the admech.
>>95907929Thallax isn't human. It's a servitor and a parody of human form.

How have you lads freed yourselves if you have from this?
>>95908001I mentioned in a prior post, I think lorewise the Warlocks do function as medics with psychic biomancy. But it isn't represented in the rules. Of all the races in the entire game, you would think the dying race desperately trying to keep its population from dwindling, and which is more terrified of death than anyone else because of Slaanesh eternally raping their souls if they don't get into a soulstone, would not be the one lacking.
