Mr. Minos is a former, disgraced Wing that once climbed the corporate ladder as a hotshot executive and lost majority of his organs to the many loan sharks coming to take what he owed them. Thankfully, Limbus Company decided to give this charming blonde a second chance— they've tore out his heart and replaced his inner organs with all sorts of clockwork machinery that made him especially attuned to the flow of time. Now a clock ticks where his heart is supposed to be. It also began to attract wayward souls who resonate with his remade being, ending up with them getting recruited to tag along on the Mephistopheles bus, digging through various artifacts of the dusted Lobotomy Corporation and other unlucky companies that met their end for one reason or the other.

He's an obvious autist that captures the hearts of his employees with that big smile and an occasional speech. He's also an amazing strategist and reader of characters, which helps him stay useful to the group.

He wields two guns in battle, preferring to stay far away and farm easy kills. His special ability that earned him renown is the power of teleportation, only limited by his ability to focus and how much stamina he has. Short-distance jumps are chill, but teleporting through half the City isn't so easy.

Tenna is used to extreme crowds and they don't really disturb her or phase her, but if she was at a party she'd immediately make it her job to babysit the necessities. She's making sure people are going out to grab more drinks and food as they run out and that anyone who's had too much gets out safely. The only part that really bothers me on an initial look over is the whole bit with some Fighting Skill moves and upgrades being locked behind Tricks. Mainly because Impossible Skill seems to be one of the worst options due to how it unlocks nothing. It pretty much requires you to pick up the Technological Wonder upgrade if you really want to get into those moveset upgrades, but even Hidden Weapon which is one of the Tricks that can be upgraded into it can take some options without needing it. It'd be nice if there was some options which gave Impossible Skill some love as even though its supposed to be a subtle bonus, as it also loses out on the fact that the CYOA explicitly says you have baseline in all skills except ones unlocked by Tricks, so someone investing into their trick would have a wider skillset by default.

Also since most matches are already most likely going to be Shadow Matches so fighters can go all out whether or not they have esoteric traits, it makes that subtlety kind of worthless. Maybe if it leaned harder into that subtlety so that fighters can have a hard time discerning what makes you so special unless you really show it off blatantly to make it a hidden trump card, it could be better, but right now in its current state someone grabbing 6 extra points and making their additional mastered skill their special Trick seems like it might be more worthwhile.

I'm wary about doing something like this. I don't really know what outline I should give anons, and the main idea was that subskills weren't really individual moves, but gimmicks you added on and were able to use as you please based off of some fighting game mechanics (but some like Crumple Blow and Closer admittedly blur the line into fullblown technique.) If you wanted to do a really crazy feint, I feel like investment in that skill should be what justifies it. Trick Up Your Sleeve options are also supposed to be part of the "really zany signature move" thing and you could justify a crazy feint just by having something like that, because I'm not sure what would be too crazy about it. I could do a custom skill thing but I'm not sure what it would like.

This one was just me thinking about the points. Say you're Grapple man, max out the grappling stuff, but you don't like the subskills. Or feint man and counter+feint don't have subskills. You have 4 points left, don't want magic or robot arms, what do? So I decided that an overspecialization option would be a good dump for people who max out 2 skills and then don't like anything else. I could elaborate on the overspecialization aspect more to make it more unique.

Hears Real Good Man listens to your muscles twitch to predict your movements and that's the end of that; it's up to you to see if you can exploit his hearing.

I'm not sure if I misunderstood but actually you don't get any baseline ability in anything requiring a Trick whatsoever no matter what, even if you have the Trick that unlocks the skill. So a Hidden Weapons user and Impossible Skill user have the same baseline ability in Range Weapon Mastery (aka none) until it's invested in.

As he is right now, pretty much nonexistant. Lushian would put his Ghost type to good use by blending in the background, into the walls, floating above the crowds, letting the stray blows of drunk brawlers just pass. He can't go invisible, but he tends to be overlooked in normal circumstances. He would begrudgingly interact with the people that invited him, and no doubts pestered him enough to force him to be there, and halfheartedly eat a couple of snacks, no drinks, ever, he already has enough memory problems, he doesn't need more. Despite it all he would act as a sort of guardian, and the moment something goes over the treshold of "dumb but without onsequence" he would intervene.

After evolving, or on the verge of evolution, he would be more active. He still doesn't like parties and cowds but he would at least have fun with his friends and would be willing to let go a bit more and be silly for the sake of fun. I get your point, they are all the "strongest" options you can get, but its whatever you want to express it as. EGO has its stats you can build out so you can build out a guideline of what your power is like, but Angelic Augment and Level 5 tools are pretty much the same. Only real difference is one comes from a tool the other comes from an implant. I still don't think you'd be completely lost going off of their descriptions, even Level 4 you can take how its one of a kind and people get defined by them, and for Level 5 its significantly more where anything conventional in the City can't contend with it. Its not completely vague as if it said its like +1 to the last tier.

Pretty low power in general with the exceptions of the absolute highest tiers who act as outliers. The previously mentioned Arbiters can take down a Wing by themselves and they are the strongest individuals we've seen in the setting. A Wing is responsible for one of the 26 Districts that make up the City. Main issue in really gauging the vast difference between them and other high powered people is that a District's size isn't exactly defined, neither is the City's actual population. So a district might be the size of a city or it might be even larger than that because at the very least the boundaries are significant enough that differences in culture start to appear. Only bringing up that specifically since it is discussing powerlevels but its not going to come up that often.

Grade 1 Fixers are the type to deal with a lot of the more threatening situations you may see, and usually its just general animeesque feats of being able to handle a gunfight using just a sword. Color Fixers are basically legends who you'd only expect to show up if a group couldn't handle it, and usually serve as the most significant member of whatever faction they may be a part of. Not to say Grade 1's can't be near their strength, but getting recognized by the Hana Association who officially recognizes every legal Fixer office means you've stood out in a way that many others might never achieve and ultimately were not cut out for. They won't really have the ability to punch a building down with one strike but they could probably cause massive property damage and have some unique strength that elevates themselves above everyone else.

Some canon examples are The Red Mist who was named that because she was so strong that those she struck would usually become a red mist, The Black Silence who had a mask that made no one able to recognize them and a pair of gloves that had a pocket storage on top of silencing everything around them, and the Purple Tear who could teleport anywhere.

Alright, I was going to make a full image build but it's getting late and I really can't be assed.

This is Gloop the Street Performer.
Natural born, and definitely not an explorer, with 38 stats across the board.

Sorry to report that he is in fact retarded, very much so, and can barely understand the world around him. His social skills are lacking and he doesn't even have fingers to count to five. What he is good at, however, is transforming. He's been doing it since he was little. Pokémon always seemed to love the trick, and now he's quite good at it - pretty much his only skill.

He splays out on the side of high street all day, offering his 'services' and begging for donations. But usually, he isn't trying hard. He spends what he makes on beer, and when he's drunk, all he wants to do is gloop out.

The decent townsfolk know he's just a drunk and avoid him, rarely giving him business. If they donate, they do it quick to avoid the stench. Thus, most 'work' comes from overly excited tourists, fetishists, and crooks. For the beer, he'll fulfill those requests with a blank expression. But once in a while, he'll wake up with a rare smile on his face and an uncharacteristic flounce in the way he rolls. He'll call everybody together and put on a stunning show of transformations, earning cheers and entertaining all the townsfolk, who wonder where this side of him came from.

After days like those, he collects his coin and stops by a certain store. The keeper, Miss Espurr, smiles softly and wishes him well. He rolls over to city limits, to a special tree. There, is his treasure box. He'll look over his growing explorer's kit, add the new gear, and wiggle with excitement. Tomorrow, he swears, he'll put on another show and be even closer. But first, he should celebrate. There's a few coins left over, and that's enough for a beer...

Eventually, Lance rebelled against his father, challenging him in combat for control of the family. While he was no match for the Elder, Lancelot’s survival proved impressive enough for his father to grant him a second chance. Well both are Sinners, but the first is a build with no fluff, basically a stealthy rifleman. I don't have anything beyond either a former Shi assassin that uses a gun or a Thumb soldato for backstory. I would like to make it a book reference just to stick with the Limbus theme but I'll ignore it if it's not possible.

My second idea is the opposite, I have most of the backstory thought out (it's even book reference Christopher Robin) but I don't know how to translate that into a build. I could go for the low-hanging meme but that's my last resort.

imo the most important thing when making a sinner is the literary reference. Gives you the entire foundation to build around as you adapt the character's personality, but you are also given the freedom to warp and twist their motivations and story as much as you'd like.

Your reference idea could easily be any age, a man or a woman, and the original media it came from could be adjusted to fit into the world. The story of Pinocchio for example might have Geppetto as the Sinner who in a fit of grief tried to bring back someone close to him skirting dangerously close to breaking the Head's laws, but his real regret was not being able to protect his creation from the world and letting it loose, with the antagonist actually being the Talking Cricket who's leading Pinocchio astray, telling the wooden boy/girl/thing to look for a Golden Bough to make his dreams come true. It doesn't really matter as long as you take the general story beats and develop them as you like. The only general rule of thumb is that Sinners have already experienced their journey in their own ways, so they would have progressed quite far and the events they are inspired from would have mostly already passed, leaving the possible conclusion or what they do to try and move on from it as their main conflict that would be explored.

You can make most any concept work, to be honest. None of the associations are so set in stone that you're locked out of interaction. Even Shi, who are supposed to be the stealthy assassins, will let you just unga bunga targets in plain sight so long as you get the job done.
Just go with whatever you think is the most fun.

Unless they are specifically called out for working with numerous groups, you won't be mingling that much. Other Offices/Associations are basically competitors. Imagine the City as a violent capitalist setting where cutthroat business really means they'll be happy to slit your throat to meet demand. Of course officially conflict between the major factions wouldn't be beneficial to any side but it's still not a guarantee that everyone would play nice.

Purely for quality of life within the faction, can't really go wrong unless its Shi. The ones who will mingle with other factions the most would be Cinq and Oufi, but the factions that would most likely interact with other player characters the most would probably Seven and Deyvat. Seven gives you the most overview of other actions since you deal in information, but Deyvat might be easier to get more basic interactions as they run all over the City, although delivering the package is their number one priority above all else so interactions depends on what type of goods you might have on hand at the moment.

Of the main ones, the best for interaction is probably Tres or Deyvat. The former you can be commissioned to make weapons or augments for nearly anyone (and you can interact super often with anyone that uses bullets), while the latter gives you a very easy excuse to travel all across the city delivering packages and items for others.

You might have an easier and better time joining another builds office or making your own though. That guarantees interaction and has more soul.

Probably a bit too much trouble to be worth it. It'd be feasible to be a Deyvat who'd transport/smuggle stolen goods, but being the one who actually steals it might be an issue. Corporate espionage is one of the most dangerous things you can do besides not pay your taxes in the City, because every Wing exists purely due to their Singularity. If people discover how it works, it might be replicated, and they'll lose their market and economic power which directly impacts their influence over the rest of the City and their own district. Its why Wings keep their secret sauce recipe close to their chests and only lets you take a taste.

EGO gear is a term for special equipment extracted from abnormalities (special monsters made from the old L-Corp singularity that gave form to human thoughts). The EGO stuff you get from EGOist is akin to doing that process yourself, materializing your own inner heart into reality. As far as how those sections interact... They don't. A tool that's a whatever tier EGO doesn't give you anything in the EGO section.

If I'm being honest, the latter seems to mog the former in terms of being impressive in the actual setting, but the CYOA treats them as equals (both gifts) so I think it's more fair to assume they're equal here.

So for the EGO vs Relic (or for high level tools in general) part, from what I understand, if you take EGOist you get access to the EGO section where you build it. And if you take the Relic, the part about it having EGO is just some custom fluff you come up with. Is this right?
For the Organization Section, how would one go about making a Fixer that's part of one of the established Associations? I don't think I can recreate them with the section as just taking Star of the City (which is where it's said that Associations start to get involved) and Association Member level is already over the budget. So would the organization be like a subunit of an Association? Should it be marked with "Allies in Odd Places"? Or just fluff? Or is being a member of an established Association not allowed? Although, Camaraderie mentions it's free for Syndicates associated with the Middle, and I don't see them having some special option for it, so I'd assume there must be a way.

A combination of things. Wings are both corporation and de facto government, so they can't necessarily do things like that so obviously while also presenting themselves as paradises compared to the hell of the Backstreets. They'd 100% can and do so with underhanded means though (P Corp hired Limbus to recover an Elder Bloodfiend for them as just an example), so it becomes a balancing act.

Nobody really stumbles on stuff at that tier at random anyways, if you are strong/rich enough to have something that special, you're either personally tough enough to not bother fucking with or have serious backing that trying to fuck with you would have far reaching consequences. Plus, it's not like the Wings are omniscient. The City is huge, if you want to fly under the radar outside the Nests you can pretty easily do so.

You're certainly allowed to fluff your weapon and give it some unique ability, but I feel I should clarify that the relic doesn't have EGO. It's purely a kind of classification. It's like... If you had a weapon in Monster Hunter made from elder dragon parts. You can call the weapon an elder dragon weapon, but that doesn't mean the weapon is an elder dragon itself... So basically you can ignore it outright. The EGO stuff in the level V weapon blip likely doesn't have any deeper meaning. It's just a term for weapons of that level.

I'd say you're approaching it from the wrong angle. The organization section is about defining a group that YOU are the leader of. The options you're looking at together would be like trying to be the leader of the entire the association, which is above the pay grade of any build in an mp.

A more realistic goal is what I said earlier, which is being a middle manager in charge of a section. Think of it like the difference between being the owner of a single McDonalds as opposed to the CEO of McDonalds as a whole. Personally I'd start with:

(Your group is part of an association after all. However, you're just a small part of the association. The Five Fingers might fear the whole of the association, but they wouldn't care too much about your branch alone.)

Depends. It only really matters to a Wing if its their technology. Other technologies its going to be hard to try and glean anything from the end product. Take K Corp, they make Regeneration Ampules. If someone steals it, they can’t exactly reverse engineer it to start mass producing it on their own, because they actually harvest goop from a monster that came from a star or something and refine it into the final product. If the ampules got into the wrong hands it’d suck and they probably wouldn’t like losing product, but its not the end of the world. If they had someone figure out the real secret behind it and tried going for the milking cow, then its a problem.


It’s like trying to figure out how Coke is made when you just have a bottle of it. You can try and see the ingredients but the real mystery might be behind the manufacturing process which turns it into something more than just the sum of its parts. A Wing isn’t going to crack down on absolutely everyone as long as they aren’t a brand risk. If you’re someone who’s partaken in their Singularity through a Angelic Augment its most likely that you were at one point on good terms so they deemed you worthy to have something that accessed more of its potential. Ultimately you still don’t know how it works but you get to enjoy its effects. Its only when they think you are trying to dig too deep that they’d quickly intervene to shut it down. Biggest example of the corp that does the most silencing is W-Corp because if people knew what really went on in the Warp Express, no one would take one, and they have enough money and power to take care of anyone who’d try and spill anything about it. If you keep it to yourself and personally dont go onto a train they’re not going to go after you since one person is not going to hurt their bottom line. Basically if its not at risk of sinking their ship and you mind your own business, you’ll be fine. They won’t REPO man you or anything.

The best examples in canon are pretty high-level.

For Egoist, it is a piece of equipment (or in extreme cases, a vehicle or even a building) that is manifested from the character's psyche. It's supernaturally good and performs a certain range of abilities. The Red Mist has armor that makes her one of the physically strongest characters in the setting, Ahab has a harpoon that uses the souls of her crewmates for power, and YuRia has an entire workshop in a pocket dimension. Whatever it is, it usually is a trump card that puts you above most opponents on your level. Even the weaker EGOs would probably let a Grade 5 Fixer beat any other Grade 5 Fixer.

Angelic Augments are just really high-level augments that use a Singularity (hyper advanced supernatural technology) from one of the corporations. The best example in canon is Binah, who has 'Fairies' that can unlock anything and 'Locks' that can lock anything. You can check the various wikis for project moon to see what corporations and singularities there are, but some of the more impressive ones are mass cloning (R-Corp), speeding up or slowing down time to an obscene degree (T-Corp), and liquid that can heal nearly any injury/mental problem or dissolve enemies (K-Corp).

Relics are basically the same thing as an EGO, but instead of being a manifestation of your characters psyche, they're crazy shit that was found in the outskirts beyond the city (or you could fluff them as tech made by a corporation I guess). They usually don't have a risk of corrupting you like EGO, but could be stolen or lost. It could also be one of the many monsters that live in the Outskirts, if you want a pet or something.

Special Powers are just bullshit you have for some reason. Purple Tear can move between dimensions because fuck you. If you don't want to rely on an item or look up the corps, you can pick this and give your character a superpower.

An elderly high rank Cinq association fixer. Obsessed with honour and "noblesse oblige", which is the main reason that he doesn't use augments, despite the fact that he's missing an arm (which I think would be cool if it had been cut off by Nyx). He's very highly skilled, but that alone wouldn't be enough to bridge the gap of age and lack of augments. What lets him do that is that he's an EGOist. The use of his EGO locks him and the target in a duel and vastly enhances him until it's over to the point where it's an almost sure win unless the enemy has an appropriate cheat power of their own, but it can only be used one target at a time and activating it has some restrictions which make the activation slower/preventable and he's vulnerable outside of it.

The Head's laws only cover so much. Anything that isn't a part of their rules has to be taken up by other organizations. Like murdering someone isn't illegal as far as the Head's concerned, but you'll probably have consequences as someone from the same faction might hunt you down. But if they have outright omniscience then yeah its not something that makes sense, because if it falls on the side of "mechanical" brain then they would know immediately, and if it falls on the "bio-augment" side then its a non issue.

Districts have 2 parts. The main parts ruled by the Wings, and the Backstreets ruled by the Syndicates. Its basically whatever ghettos are left behind when a Wing is making their area of influence prosperous, someone comes in to try and tries to take control of the scraps and reign in the chaos to use to their advantage. Not everyone has money to live comfortably in a Wing's Nest since being a Feather requires both considerable skill and luck to be chosen and even then its usually very demanding. Its why Wealthy is the most important skill to surviving in the City because you can just pay to ignore every single issue and the only real threat is if the Wing collapses and you lose your cushy housing. Long as the Backstreet side doesn't intrude on the Nest side, they're allowed to have certain control over the area because the most major criminal groups, the Syndicates, have amassed enough military power to make getting rid of them more trouble than its worth.

A lot of City faction politics can be avoided if you don't cross to someone else's territory and don't do anything that jeopardizes their authority or money.
