Had a rough 2-1 with another UB run. Sky whale and vincent are great, but low removal is really sketchy, especially since none of them supported vincent. Card collection is mvp though, a 4/4 flier gets through most things in the format and the card selection is nice. Found myself swapping out rook turret for forayer a bunch, the graveyard hate is good against a lot of the slower decks and sometimes killing a big dude even at a 2 for 1 against yourself is what you need. Fight on was also a consideration but I decided against it, with how few creature spells I had. With all the graveyard support I ended up having, I think it could've worked though. Black mage rods and salvagers also put in work, there was a decent amount of burn going on that helped end games along with the fliers. Overall, pretty mid deck but lucked out with my draws so I can't complain.

Another rough UB run, this time 1-2. I think the deck was actually better, but I had a string of bad luck along with a big mistake I made one game tapping down the wrong creature. Opponent wyverns were a real menace, neither intervention nor cornered are good against them, and tutorial on my own fliers doesn't prevent a trade. Still don't see how circle of power is good outside of a deck with more wizards. Not much to say here other than that, been playing similar lists often enough that one was bound to lose.

Trophies so far with:
UR, UR, UGB, RG, UW, WB, WGr, UBr and UGrwb. This format has been a blast, both the drafting and the gameplay are fucking great.

The luck has swung back around with a 3-0 on UG. Had one match against a terrible monogreen deck, and then another against an unlucky dude who got mana screwed twice. Been a while since I've gotten to play green, I have to assume it's because people are fighting over it since it doesn't feel weak at all. Fat chocobo is probably my vote for strongest nonrare summon, even if fenrir is putting up better numbers. Immediate and unconditional board impact, a chunky body that makes opponents feel threatened enough to trade, and 4 chapters to actually be able to swing in multiple times. I think the UG archetype is supposed to be towns, but this list didn't really do that, the ramp and self mill aspects were way more prevalent. Gardener into a 4 drop or fenrir into a 5 happened a lot, even just two 2 drops felt pretty good. The lack of removal here was definitely a big issue, fortunately none of my opponents had real bombs.

7-1. Nutty deck, only lost because Kuja and I am not playing around fucking Vincent limit.

Sanctum is so good in this format, there are barely any good triggered or sac effects. People need to start drafting blue jesus christ, I got a sanctum like pick 11.

Another 3-0, now on BGu. Tons of absurd rare bombs to carry every game, but also lots of top tier uncommons like greeter and chocobo. Greeter was especially great for the deck, powecrept satyr wayfinder that gets buffed by torgal and is just a cheap body to put buffs and equipment on. I probably should've gone to 45 cards though, I lost a completely winnable game by decking myself out once, and potentially another if sin had hit a mill creature. I was also pretty light on removal, and my high amount of 3 drops was sometimes an issue. Overall, still can't complain about a trophy.

The Cieth and train look great in your deck.

Finally had some games with G again, and they felt pretty good. Even the few RG opponents I had looked like they had solid decks, I don't think it's as weak as the numbers would indicate (though it wouldn't be my first pick). Might just be people bad at sequencing with landfall. I've also seen anons say U is best, and while I think it's strong, I'd personally rank them as B > U > W > G > R. There's a lot of strong multicolor cards though, so something like UR is way better than say, BR, in part because shantotto and emperor are way better than garland or black waltz. The speed doesn't feel particularly fast or slow, I think in part because multiple R archetypes are built around tempo or midrange instead of full on aggro. Cards like ultros or sahagin can be nasty, but you need to actually play expensive spells to make good use of them. There's also a fair number of strong fliers, not super cheap ones like LCI but pretty aggressively costed. Stuff like wyvern and dragoon's lance do good work when most of the reach creatures are mediocre.

It's not 10k gems, it's an equivalent value in cards and packs. I think I'm down around 1,500 raw gems total since the start of the set. And I'm not good enough to sustain this rate forever, it generally gets harder as time goes on. I have no interest in the box events since they're a crapshoot even for pros, I fully acknowledge I'm not the best. Plus I don't even play paper anymore, if I was looking for money I'd just go to work.

If you're good at Trad you'll be able to farm gems off your Premier games while you're in Bronze/Silver/Gold.
Don't go past Gold, and let your ranking reset back to Bronze for every new set release.

The problem is in magic is that those 2-3 turns you get are boring as shit.
"oh boy i played a land and passed, oh boy i played another land and then 2 drop and passed, oh boy i lost" at least in yugioh there isnt really any ftks and when you get to play on your turn you get to do a bunch of fun things even if they have interaction to slow you down. And you get a lot of hand trap interaction as well meanwhile in magic your only interaction before losing on turn 3 is limited to like a single spell and usually it's only if you're playing black or blue.

I dont know if I'm better off BG or BR... two Ardyns are hard to pass up but more removal in red vs some small bird support and bartz in green

I just got back into playing Arena because of the Final Fantasy stuff. My wife and I really like FF, but buying the cards IRL that we know we won't do anything with would be expensive. DESU we've thought about buying the mythics and rares just to fucking frame them. My disappointment in myself is immeasurable. But I digress.

I just got back into playing Arena and this is the most aggressive set I've ever been a part of. It seems like *EVERY SINGLE* deck is just aggro. You either win by turn 3 or you don't win at all. I play RDW and Rakdos almost exclusively and I feel like there is nothing special about playing mono red. Every single color feels like and plays like mono red.

What happened? I haven't played since Vexing Devil was the meta.

Your best bet would be cracking standard packs. You could theoretically pull some cards you actually want by cracking packs for older sets, but sets that are standard legal also give you golden booster progress and golden boosters are what makes cracking packs even somewhat comparable to drafting. That, and the fact that cracking packs can get you wildcards. The main thing is that'll have a side effect of increasingly opening up standard as a format for you to play in as well, and if pioneer's your preferred format then the standard cards are coming

BUT, BUT, if you are bare fucking bones on your cards then jump in is fairly decent. Some packs are much better but the power gap is less soul crushing than it might be otherwise. And I will add the small caveat that drafting just enough to have gems to buy the stupid battle pass (When a new one starts, ideally, so you know where you're at at the end) would also be very useful. BUT if you absolutely don't want to draft then that's fine but you'll largely be shut off from gems entirely which basically only matters for the battle pass

As for if 33 rare wildcards in 2 months? I could see it taking that long, especially with no drafting

Is FIN draft actually balanced or should I force one of the colour pairs? I managed to go 7-2 with UG but the only reason I won some games was Absolute Virtue that I exclusively splashed White for.

Mono red mouse is my go to brainead quick grind out some wins deck. Assuming what I consider to be worst case, rage AND mainfold mouse get banned what would I replace them with? Or you think the deck would be too mangled to be salaved in any serious capacity. I only have one other real deck and its a crappy mill deck I play for fun.

Blue is the strongest, white is the deepest, red has a handful of strong cards but you don't want to fight over it because it falls off super hard after those. It's extremely balanced though and if you draft whatever is open you'll get massively rewarded with rares and busted signpost uncommons.

Been busy again so not much time for more runs. This was a silly one, 2-1 with UG that had seven towns in all five colors but zero off color spells, only minstrel's activated ability. I was taking duals constantly and somehow never saw a playable bomb to splash. Most games ended with me curving out with ramp into some big dumb body and then swinging until someone was dead. One loss was to a dude who sadly had the removal to counter it. Gardener was crucial in the game plan, would've gladly ran more. Wish I had more fat chocobos instead of shit like ice flan. Reach the horizon is a shit card but I figured it was worth the slot given all the land synergy, the only card I would've considered instead was damper, which I did side in. Bard's bow also pulled its weight here, 3 mana 3/3 reach is nothing exciting but it trades with or just walls every common and uncommon flier that isn't card collection, as well as giving some admittedly poor mana sink options.

For clarification, is there any beneficial reason to open packs from this set anymore? I have nearly all the desired cards from the set, but can still think of 2 Mythics, a playset of a Rare, and a few other Rares I could use in some decks. Would it be more beneficial to keep opening packs from this set or to open packs from less-opened sets for other needed cards? I'm ~210 packs deep with Bloomburrow at this point. Which Pioneer deck should I focus on next? These are p much all I'm interested in for now. Many of them have archetype-specific Rares, so finishing decks is a careful process. Black Midrange and UB Aggro are finished for srs bsns, so there isn't an issue blowing all WCs towards a bad deck like Dredge or WB Zombies.

Now do this math for every other card you want and pick the pack with the best ratio.
Packs have duplicate protection on rares/mythics so you'll eventually get what you need.

But buying packs is very bad return unless you're brand new. Drafting and the Constructed Events let you go infinite if you're good.

If the spell hasn't resolved yet, then there is no name to pick as that is part of resolution. When a spell is modal, like Rankle's Prank, the mode has to be first chosen in order for the spell to be put on the stack. There is no mode to choose for Crippling Fear, so they don't name shit until resolution. Kind of said the same thing twice here, but hope it helps.
