I hate faction terrain, specifically how it's implemented, so goddamn much; it's so immersion breaking for every battle to be fought on a battlefield where a bone-tithe nexus is right next to a shrine luminor. That said, the KO terrain piece is relatively inoffensive in this regard.

Love the divesuit aesthetic, but on the table it feels like it's destined for the "would be great if AoS had sideboards" zone. IF it's good at what it's supposed to be good at, then it's auto-include when wizards/priests/invocations define the meta (which to be fair, is often) and resigned to the shelf when they don't.

As a non AOS or40k player I don't get it. Both games had astrong new edition, decent value starters, people were happy, now everybody is unhappy? Wouldn't it be better to just stick with rules as written in this case? Warcry, 2 Underworlds Warbands, numerous Ogors in other factions showing they still exist. kind of a tough call to make, chorfs were already a more original concept than most fantasy factions and TWW has the designs already made, but they could pull a Votann and just drop that and make it its own thing.

All that said, they should have just added more support for already existing armies. If they have to add something new, would have thought Malerion's faction, seems more integral to the story, and keeping Ulgu off the plate for a setting sucks.

I adore the female Duardin models. It makes the armies more lore-accurate, it gives more visual identity and style to the army, it's more inclusive, and they just look really good. The Vulkyn Flameseekers are my all time favourite unit mostly because of the scalebreakers being really dynamic and beautiful sculpts with a distinct aesthetic, and half of them being women (Kyndledroth is cool too).

The diversity in humans is one of the things I really appreciate about the new CoS. Although the lack of Aelves and Duardin is a huge shame, the Freeguild really looks like an army consisting of a mix of all kinds of commonfolk coming together to fight for something they hold dear. The cities are supposed to be diverse, and now their models reflect that. Same with SCE and IDK.

It's something I hope they fix with a (potential) future rework for a lot of armies. Make the basic troops a mix of genders, and suddenly armies look a lot less monotone and more varied. I'd instabuy multiple boxes of Vulkites and Hearthguard if they were reworked to also have women in them.

I personally find those traditions uninspired, limiting and outdated. It's a huge waste of potential to just have armies be fully male for the sake of tradition. When it's used to tell a story (e.g. of oppression or sexism) it at least has a function.

But it's a fantasy world, and some of the reasons I like AoS so much are exactly because it doesn't cling to those traditions. It embraces diversity and cooperation, instead of the traditional 'these races hate each other because they are supposed to'.

And this doesn't mean I dislike Lord of the Rings or anything. I love it. But I dislike when other fantasy settings copy tropes just for the sake of being traditional. The lack of diversity in Middle Earth is also a product of the time (though Tolkien wrote some great female characters as well), and times have changed. I think it's amazing that fantasy and other traditionally 'nerdy' hobbies are more accessible and popular than ever, and the increasing diversity that resulted from (and even partially caused) those changes is a blessing.

What makes it kind of awkward for me though is that besides the babylonian stuff their two other major design traits, fire and industry already gets covered by our other two dwarf factions. I wonder what they'll do, if anything, to avoid stepping on toes. The horns of hashut seened to just carry on the industrial fire thing so maybe i'm overthinking.
