Haven't touched the argument so far but I feel the need to reply to this. Yes, I agree with the idea of reducing the amount of "OC" posting (the OCs used repeatedly as avatars, not just any random original character) in order to raise thread quality. But thread tasks are not and should not be mandatory, they're just to help provide ideas.

Quick question, when you say monster do you mean specifically something like a displacer beast, or just an enemy combatant?
If it's the later, all the time. This dude I described a few threads ago for example was the bard-barian skill monkey. Tracking, stealth, performance (animal noises), survival, and intimidation makes for one hell of a dangerous opponent.

I've used it before, but I always have to first answer: "dragons are smarter, stronger, more magical than humanoid mortals, why would they stoop to taking their form?"
Most of the time it's to infiltrate and disrupt a kingdom from within. I did this in high school long before Vox Machina.
Im not going to say I did it better, because high school, but I'm just saiyan I did it before they made it popular.
I also had a silver dragon who was a senior professor at a magical academy. He taught his classes out in the open in his natural dragon form but would shift to a human form to traverse the halls of the academy. He was a male dragon but he took the form of a human woman. Only his magic was never complete and he still had his deep, masculine voice in his female form. Yes, Venture Brothers was very popular at the time.
Image not related, I just wanted to make a drow girl.

Every town has a patch of woods, an abandoned building, a run down park, something, where the social outcasts go to drink and make out.
Every so often, somebody gets the idea that they're going to open a bar nearby, once they turn legal. But the kids who make it go off to college out of town; the kids who don't make it get jobs at the factory, and drink at the blue collard dive just outside the gate. And the ones who fuck everything up start riding the rails, following the weather or the work. And a new crop of kids come in every September, and you don't think about the ones who left.

What's the tl;dr on this setting you're always using? Is the redhead elf an actual character you've played or more of a point-of-view plot device to learn the lore through? It seems like you have a consistent vision for whatever it is, but as an outsider it's a little hard to piece together.

>It seems like you have a consistent vision for whatever it is.

Boy have I got you fooled, then.

Setting: Modern Earth, but there's elves, and goblins, and wizards. Somehow, don't ask how, history is identical otherwise. The kind of place where a mimic would disguise itself as a book drop, or a dragon would take human form for more-or-less the sole purpose of going clubbing on the weekends.

The character:
What if elf, but low rent trashy? What if your life during and after high school , was not-so slowly spiraling out of control, but your twenties lasted three or four centuries, so you you had plenty of time before you actually hit bottom.

Also I like redheads.

I've statted her, and various of her associated characters, in several games, both vidya and P&P. But they've never really "stuck", somehow. The whole concept seems more at home here than elsewhere.

Basically shitposting in and around the concept of the _Girls' Last Tour_ manga, the Enshrouded video game, and, for the last few threads, the "This is not a place of honor" nuclear warning message. Also riffing on AI's munged text, contagious elf ears, and so on.

"I'm more intrigued by the rumors about a white lion. Speaking of white beings, Viola, how on Earth are you getting paler under this sun?"
"What, you don't know? I think you should study our craft more seriously."
"But I hate studying!"
"I see... You'd rather go native than look up a simple trick, such a waste of talent!"
"I hate you AND studying!"
"Poor taste AND skill issue!"

Hark! Upon the moonlit floe doth stride Pinius the Warder, a curious melding of man’s sinew and penguin’s plumes. Clad in glist’ning hides he keepeth watch o’er his waddling kin, felling ravenous seals and warding off the bitter storm. By oath and ancient ice-forged spear he swears no penguin shall know fear while he yet breathes the frosty air.

I was an env inspector for HDD drills. It was a nice gig when I could just do biology, keep the work away from animals and stuff, but mainly it was just hanging around the pad, checking for fracs, being the bearer of bad news, memorizing inadequate EPPs, and all in all just not living your life.

Unless it's a furry game please don't subject the other players to furfaggotry. There are probably plenty of beastfolk races to choose from without forcing your ST to accommodate your immaturity.

Depends: Evil Dragons – hard NO. Dragons (especially Red and Blue) consider themselves the apex creatures. They'd never free willingly assume a form of a sweaty hairy biped.
Good Dragons – yes. You have humanoid allies and sometimes you have to visit them without ruining their buildings with your bulk.

He took the fragile-looking book from the creature, still having a second thoughts about it, but since he promised it, he couldn't not take it.
Then he went to do some errands. First of al, he had to negotiate with the garrison leader to release the goat creature, vouching for her that she wouldn't harm anyone. Then he rushed towards the academy, hoping to call an emergency meeting of the board and local governing body to take action against raiders. But before he asked one of the archivists to do some research on the strange book if it's possible.

Oh well that's not furry or beastfolk adjacent that's just catgirls. Just
- describe art style, e.g. "retro 1970s pulp science fiction"
- describe character as having cat ears and tail
- describe the approximate scifi era of the armor, so like "near future in the style of Neuromancer or Ghost in the Shell"
