Core/Phase are pretty much always at their peak. Unless a core/phase user is retarded most of their techniques barely use any aura compared to other affinities. Once a Flow/Alchemy user runs out of aura, they're pretty much fucked. With all of the martial devotions of Core/Phase they can remain effective even low on aura.

Though he focuses more on the mechanics, where my biggest gripe is he gutted the setting by reducing a multiverse of infinity possibilities down to a couple dozen planes, a tenth of which are already ruined wastelands. And his reasoning for doing so was pretty dumb, not wanting us to be able to fuck-off somewhere distant and ignore Bolas and the Phyrexians. Nemesis was okay-ish. Honestly nothing special.

I liked Overpowered Isekai and Nemesis despite their flaws. Now that I think about it, many of his cyoas have good ideas and mechanics, but also odd stupid decisions that end up ruining them, like making a planeswalking cyoa limited to a handful of worlds.

I was always more curious than most freaks of the undercity. My momma would tell me to stay in the communities where it's safe, do my assigned work, and stay alive. But it wasn't enough to sate my restlessness.

I was recruited by some teens my age, once I turned 12. We would do short stints at odd hours to the deeper remnants of the old world, searching for canned food, and whatever goodies remained. It was dangerous, the mutant creatures were much higher in concentration, but slowly I adapted.

I became close friends with the other girl my age in the group

We struggled to understand the old English, but sometimes we could follow along. We'd make up theories about what an 'artifact' was used for, often insane and wrong, but it drove us to seek out more.

One expedition went south. A group of us, ten in total, went deeper than we had before. It seemed like the area was residential, once. Some theorized we were close to touching Mother Earth herself, though in a concrete jungle it is impossible to know.

We all proceeded down a hidden ladder, busted down a few doors, and found a large group perfectly preserved in ash. It seems like they met their demise in the midst of some sort of orgy combined with worship? Some of the fellas thought this was funny and began to mess with the corpses and make jokes. Alice and I were more interested in the books on the shelf in the room, a rare commodity. But upon opening one, a silver light flooded the room and we lost consciousness.

When we awoke, we were surrounded by our ailing companions. Some had tentacles masses growing out of them, others had their bodies untouched, but with a look of horror on their faces. All were dead.

My gifts were largely related to my physical form. I was able to take a lot of punishment, coming back from the brink of death each time. And when I would, my body would shift and change. It didn’t often stay the same, and sometimes changed in ways I didn’t like. With time and knowledge, I hope to be able to control these changes and use them to my advantage. But for now, all I can do is practice fighting and be a shield for Alice.

Alice was gifted with powers of the mind.

For now she can peer into surface level thoughts, gaze a few seconds into the future, and control her chains telekinetically. But she is ravenous to explore these powers further.

As the two of us continue life in the undercity together, we will doubtless come into many fights. We no longer need an entire gang to defend us though. I am the first line of defense, taking on many enemies at once. As time goes on I become more durable, develop natural weapons. Alice is there to back me up, splattering the heads of enemies with her chains and manipulating the battlefield to my advantage. Generally the combat goes like that, I’m on the front lines, she plays support.

However amazing these gifts, Alice and I did not come out unscathed.

We both awoke with red Ankhs on our forehead. At the time we didn’t even know what the symbol meant. Moreover, from then on, we would be plagued with nightmares. As a result of these, we spent little time apart from one another. It helps to be able to hold somebody’s hand when you wake up in a cold sweat from a nightmare, rather than be alone. In time, as she masters her psychic powers, she will be able to link our dreams. The nightmares will not stop, but at least we will be together for them.

At first she lamented this and silently sobbed quite often, but she’s adjusted. Her telepathy has not evolved to the point that she can speak words to my mind yet, but she is able to send images in my mind’s eye to communicate. One of our favorite things to do was to take old songs we found while exploring and sing them, even without knowing the exact melodies.

The first time I discovered this, Alice got burned. She still has the acid scar across her calf. My blood is acidic. That can be useful with my fighting style. I stay far away from Alice, surround myself with enemies, and each injury ends up splashing back in their face. But of course, it hurts me as well. It makes my powers a bit of a double edged sword, in which I fight, I get hurt, I defeat enemies, I grow stronger and more mutated, but experience immense pain. So generally, I try not to go get hurt on purpose to trigger my Reactive Conditioning, it hurts too much. But if I need to, I do not hesitate.

I guess losing the ability to speak made her more perceptive. She noticed things that I didn’t, and could react accordingly. This synergized perfectly with her precognition. She might notice an attack from behind, and before I can even comprehend what’s happened, the enemy’s head has been splattered into bits by her chain. Though I view myself as her defense, it is reassuring to know that she has my back.

Her gifts are entirely inward. On the outside, she is still the beautiful girl she always was. Even missing her clever words, her smile still radiated charm. This worked well with the silver tongue, because as long as she was the face, people didn’t mind how weird my reactive mutations might make me look. Yes. It's the final rendition that included stuff from the then Pokemon Sun and Moon adding the Ami Islands.

Another idea I have is to give vague costs for effects like low, medium and high instead of hard numbers and then in the section where you choose the size of your mana pool I could keep it a bit vague like "with a regular mana pool you could cast a handful of high mana cost spells before running out of steam."

And then in each spell have its cost for example the strenght one again "for low cost you can enhance one feat of strenght or for a mid expenditure you can enhance your whole body for an hour."

ANd then a higher level one that costs medium and high for even greater strenght.

That's a fair point. I overlooked the value of photosynthesis in amassing an army in the first place. Compared to having to grow plants and raise animals, it frees up a lot of worker units for things like siege warfare, which plantoids would be surprisingly useful for(being slow isn't a problem then), particularly fungoids. For hit and run tactics, though, they will have a hard time avoiding pursuit unless you purchase mounts for every unit. It could work well with mediums, but it's not worth it for basic units. In that case, I think all of the races are extremely well balanced, and there really isn't a worst one.

It doesn't quite fit xianxia, though it is very heavily inspired by it. It would however be xuanhuan, though that covers a huge array of things. Anyway it's kind of cool as a post-apocalyptic setting, and the tone is generally more sci-fi post-apocalyptic than it is xianxia, but it does rely heavily on xianxia concepts.

I like the character I've created and can see him getting along with most of his companions and being able to succeed in most of his adventures. With how he got in to the academy I can see him being a bit of an outcast along with Julian, Eli and Lorka. Not to mention the overlap in classes he probably has with Julian and Eli. I can see him having a friendly rivalry or friendship based on mutual respect of ability with Lukas. Both are fighters as much if not more than mages and while mine might be a bit more mercenary I think they could have good natured debates on the philosophies of combat and morality.
