When I look at these aos peices, yes, there's a ton I like artistically, the way the armor is done on that central figure in the slannesh one is super cool, but as I look in the background what do I see? Anything that incites the imagination? No, I just see "oh theres that model, there's that, oh theres that." And it doesn't transport me to this fantasy world it's trying to sell, it just is a codex miniature photography photo rendered over by an artist in spirit.
Something like pic related on the other hand, is elevated, not degraded the longer you look at it, each of the characters being a potentially inspiring little bit of the fantasy world that draws you into imagining your own potential project, which really, is the goal of the hobby, to make /yourdudes/, not to buy the Grimfang Bloodmaster because it's so cool.
