FF limited is actually alot more fun than caves of ixalan or aetherdrift (for me the worst set to draft of maybe all time).
I am catching myself forcing b/g or u/x alot of times. Blue is definitely the strongest colour and works with w,g or red. B/g mill just works really well and can lead to some crazy plays, also keeps up really well with u/r in longer games if you got cards like fight on. Needs at least 1-2 of resentful, town greeter or shinra mill card (I'm sorry don't remember the exact names). Diamond weapon is really strong.l for an uncommon, as are the green mana pump cards.
What I've never really gotten to work is a damn chocobo deck, I feel it needs ride the shoopuf (pretty bonkers card) to shine.

It's crazy just how much this interaction ruins the game.
Every deck that hopes to gain any amount of life must always, ALWAYS keep removal up for or their deck is simply deleted.
One of the most consistent ways to hose aggro decks is to keep up tempo. Play larger, slower bodies on curve that wall their shit.
Nemesis SIMPLY EXISTING, not even being played, but EXISTING AT ALL totally eliminates that option. You can not simply fight for the battlefield, because if you try to curve out for one (1) turn then oops it's Nemesis + Burst Lightning, there goes your entire deck.

To repeat: This is not just pressure on the board. Their deck DOESN'T EVEN NEED TO HAVE NEMESIS IN IT. If it's a red aggro deck that Nemesis COULD be in, you simply are never under any circumstances allowed to tap out and not have removal open ever.

This is an UNBELIEVABLY bad influence on the game. A card warping a meta without even needing to be cast, or even in someone's deck at all, is so far beyond the pale that I can't even think of something in Yu Gi Oh that has ever been that bad.

I think the biggest sins of Leylines is that they are persistent effects.

If Leyline of the Void was "Sacrifice ~: Exile all cards from target player's graveyard" I don't think it would be so bad. Leyline design should be closer to Seal (Seal of Removal etc.) designs than ongoing effects.

"Lifegain decks" don't exist beyond the casual realm. They are playing to not lose as opposed to playing to win (which is the goal of all decks). They are a stepping stone to a new player's understanding of resources and nothing more. You will note that all lifegain cards that are good also supply win conditions (Pridemate, Thragtusk, etc).

Not to mention the obvious, but all strategies should have counters. No exceptions.

LotV is fine because graveyard strategies are repeatedly thrust into the limelight in incredibly broken ways and having silver bullets is fine for that very reason. The drawback of a deck archetype that puts all its eggs in one basket is being blown out by sideboard swap-ins like RIP and LotV. If you're a more generalized deck you won't get blown out as hard. I may as well complain that enchantress will never be a viable deck because there's a plethora of 2 and 3 mana cards that wipe all enchantments without targeting.

I like how these retard posts illustrate the vast difference between nuMagic and older magic.

RGD was an insanely complex format. Even if it had surface similarities, you almost never ended up using any given mechanic for an "archetype" related to that mechanic.

Dredge was used to hammer through midgames with auramancer lists. Hellbent gave a similar late game edge to push through the last bit of damage. The tokens of Selesnya were used more as grindy finishers in control lists than any sort of "go wide" strategy.

Even with surface similarities between keywords, the difference between nuMagic formats being just "draft le signpost uncommon and force the archetype", and older formats having a lot of intricacy in how any given mechanic slotted into each game.

The twist was that they were going to king Glarb to get help against the mercenaries who stole Maha's egg, but he was actually the one who hired them, to try and control the calamity beasts. There were also some mild hints at Jace doing shit.

It's ridiculous how often they do have everything though. The deck runs 4 foils, 4 gushes, 4 vision charms, 4 stifles, and if they're on the play turn 1, they can also daze whatever you play so you're left with just a turn 2 play to be able to answer the dreadnought if they play the combo straight up, which honestly speaking, happens around 25 to 30% of the times. I know, it's ridiculous, but having played against stiflenought decks on paper it actually happens that often.
