Might work on a relationship chart for Hyde if I'm not too busy this weekend, but I'd like to give it some more time so I can feel out all the characters and their dynamics first. I want to give more time for people to write introductions for their Sinners to get on the bus before I write anything big.

If we all agree on a first canto by Monday or Tuesday I'll start working on something. I'm partial to Minos and X-corp so the Sinners can get their shit rocked by the Minotaur (and they don't retrieve the Bough so it leaves opportunity for a part 2 if the mp survives), but if anyone has any other suggestions or wants to take the lead, I'm all for it.

Minos' story is fucked up. The gods cursed his wife to fall in love with a bull, and she asked Daedalus to make a suit just to get fucked by him. And after Minotaur was born, he put him in a labyrinth and regularly sacrificed people to bloodthirsty gods before a hero came along and killed that cunt. Our Minos has to have a similarly fucked up history.

Though I suspect that he might actually be the "judge of the dead" version, since there's the idea that the tale of Minotaur applies to Minos' descendant with the same name, far crueler and unjust than the original.

H. Watson is none other than Helmholtz Watson, born and raised under the R Corp's wing to create a ultimate Raven through immense mental and physical conditioning at a very young age. His life was lonely, as even though he served as the model of R Corp's potential, he couldn't relate to anyone who had a life previously outside the Wing, even concepts such as parents, love, or revenge were foreign. Camaraderie was the closest he could get to, but even then he had killed dozens of those he'd consider himself friendly to due to his job.

He was an overseer for the 2nd Pack, becoming friends with Bernard, an especially unstable Reindeer, and John, an uncloned commander for their unit. It was John that started to broaden Helmholtz' view of the world. John was someone who managed to climb into the position of a Feather but was disgusted at the way the Wings operated. Someone who had such a stark contrast of how the world should be intrigued Helmholtz who had already started to feel like the way he lived was stifling. The three were all unhappy with their lives in different ways, and when L Corp fell causing R Corp to struggle and decline, he saw an opportunity to escape.

Helmholtz wanted to the rest of the group to flee to somewhere so deep in the Backstreets no one could find them, but John didn't want to run and decided to stay to try and change the City from the inside, starting with R Corp. Helmholtz bid him farewell and left, with Bernard feeling forced to flee as well.

He thinks that he's ready to experience a new chapter in life and close his past behind, but he has no idea that Bernard snuck back to R Corp after scrounging a Bough to try and climb up in position, exposing John and Helmholtz's plans.

His struggle is reconciling with the fact that despite his best intentions, he effectively abandoned the only two people who could understand what he felt and that he took them for granted, being blinded by his own ability to overcome issues and believing others would be able to do so as well. Bernard was choking under the pressure of living a life of fear with a Wing looking for him, while John no matter how good intentioned would never be able to overcome the Will of the City. As a Raven, Helmholtz never had to fear being the one who'd get disposed of as he was his duty to dispose of others. Even his escape was based on the knowledge that R Corp couldn't afford to replicate him, lacking the resources and the resolve to risk having the Head swoop down and retaliating for violating the law against Clones past 7 days, and that the forces they'd send to try and retrieve or kill him would be easily dealt with as R Corp's forces are weakening from the Wing's slowly dying influence and power.

Helmholtz thought he was living a new free independent life, especially after being picked up by the LCB, but he is confronted with the fact that he's only found another set of outcasts to surround himself with to replace his old ones and that he never really changed since then, nor felt the need to. His search for hardships to grow as a person could only be done by someone who was never forced to endure them in the first place, and because of his unintentional perfection others would suffer for his actions. Bernard would act as the Antagonist of his Canto, pushing the blame onto Helmholtz for moving on without them and not stopping once to imagine if they would also be able to be happy in a world that would take every opportunity to kill them. Bernard places his own betrayal on Helmholtz and John for opening the door of doubt and abandoning the Wing that gave them everything, refusing to accept that his life there was terrible.

As fun as it was to lead people to believe he was John Watson or even Sherlock, I didn't want things to progress to much there especially if Moriarty was considering how things would work with two Sinners from the same book.

Plus I was spending so much time trying to tweak an EGO design that I kept disappearing from threads and I don't want people to think H. Watson has been dumped. I'm just really slow at getting things out. But just for fun while I slave away at getting it done, here's his Black Swan Association.

I was deciding between the Firebird or Swan, both having bird imagery to relate to his Raven origin, and originally Firebird was going to be the winner as the promise of adventure was what Helmholtz' current state is all about, but reading more into the legend of the Black Swan had me interested, both in the abnormality form with its connections to the Smoke War and the original fairytale. The title of the Six Swans has had different translations, such as the Six Ravens, and there are similar stories like the Seven Ravens. Each of them have the same theme of a family which has their sons cursed and transformed into birds in which the daughter has to try and save. Helmholtz is someone who lived through the Smoke War and is someone looking to break free of his life as a Raven, but there is no one he can rely on to try and free him, so he's undertaken the task himself even though he doesn't truly separate him from his past. The Black Swan umbrella resonates with him strongly because he acts in place of her brothers, but he also promised to lift their burden of having to support herself and everyone she loves on her own as he can endure hardships in her stead.

Also because Black Swans have connotations of being bad luck, or being an unforeseen consequential event, which Helmholtz represents as he openly invites hardship but at the risk of damaging others around him unintentionally.

Before I work on my chart, I'll answer this in a rough sense.
[Spoiler]Selene's Canto would be her trying to hunt down her old lover and bait him into the L-Corp ruins, her awake self being swayed by Sleeping Beauty's badgering to check if he's the one or not, but doing it on her terms this time. Sleeping Beauty is angry she was sealed away at all, taking the chance to try and convince Selene to rip the control augment out of her neck and let her drive permanently. Instead of allowing Sleeping Beauty to claim his light, she strangles him to not give Sleeping Beauty the satisfaction of knowing if he was the one. She resents her lust, seeing that want to love and be loved in return as the weakness which made her into what she is now.[/spoiler]

The inspiration is pretty obvious. She toyed with incomprehensible forces, lost her humanity (just as planned) and can't turn back (not as planned). Same goes for the rest of the Miskatonic Circle, which in City's setting format would be more mad science based:

So my initial thought is Carter having a full meltdown, Hieroglyph Clock taking over for good, and the abnormality flees underground after snatching a Bough from the company to do... something. The Sinners give chase, chased themselves by Claws now that the Circle's fuckery is no longer constrained to the Outskirts/Ruins. Race to the bottom before the City's finest cleanse the entire underground!

The final battle of the arc would be in an L-Corp research lab sinking into one of the Rivers as Carter/Hieroglyph Clock tries to blow open a hole into the Light again. If there's a twist, it's that Carter was aiding and abetting the whole time, wanting to give her mad project another shot, until somebody beats some sense back into her.

Or at least that's the best I can come up right now...

Bloodfiends are actually pretty weird. Their need for blood isn't physical, so in theory with enough autism they can avoid drinking it indefinitely. On the other hand, what they do have is an extremely power mental and emotional compulsion. Moreover, that compulsion gets stronger the fewer kindred they have, so if Arthur really was controlling who can and can't add new members, they'd probably have a pretty small family and the strength of their compulsion would be even stronger than usual.

Thankfully the bus has private rooms, so the fangers could just have their juice boxes hidden inside their rooms and never get spotted with them. Going forever without blood is probably too much for them, but going a day or two until they can get back to their room shouldn't be too hard.

NTA but I think the biggest issues are the blessings which make the variety pretty lame. In a cultivation setting the real goal is just to scale high enough to be above any threat, and scale fast enough so you don't get squashed during the process. The options that gives straight RE efficiency/amount and Cultivation bonuses pretty much give you everything you need. Doesn't really matter if someone is stronger than you right now if you can grow three times as fast.

It really should have given different options which help growth in different ways, like more of a focus on alchemist stuff, but right now it's got no real reason to try and make something that doesn't directly challenge the power system and get something that allows you to punch up your weightclass or start progressing to a higher one as soon as possible. I agree that there really isn't a whole lot of variety since you can be the strong punch guy, the prodigy, or the MC if you want to stack Jade beauty and protagonist aura.

That's pretty much why I don't think it'd work for an MP. This is a lot more focused on the cultivation side of things, the actual training and growth you undergo to rise in the tiers. Everything in there talks about potential and such, pretty much every option determines how you will grow. We don't know. The game hasn't gone that far yet. The sinners can completely die (bisected vertically, burnt to ashes, etc), dante can revive them, and the head doesn't give a fuck.

Until proven otherwise, I like to think that the sinners are actually IDs. Like the real sinners are inside of Dante in some pocket space or in a pod back at Limbus HQ, and the ones dying are just specifically chosen versions of them from alternate timelines. If they die, just re-summon them, and maybe Dante's mysterious gate is just the portal to those other timelines.

Maybe try looking at his possible interactions with the other sinners if/when you make a relationship chart, and see what stands out the most? If something is ubiquitous, you can make that a larger component of Karras' personality.

Morella was actually pretty fierce pre-sinner. As a member of the Dieci Association, her physical stats scale with how much knowledge she grasps, but with her angel augment she's accumulating an entire lifetime of knowledge with every enemy she takes down. With how being a fixer tends to go, that's thousands or tens of thousands more knowledge than most, and among them are at least a dozen other more senior dieci fixers, some rogue or disgraced feathers, and other nerds that made poor life choices. Plus she'd get a lot of information from deconstructing tools and augments too. She's basically got flawless blueprints of all the tools and augments of her victims in her head. So her LvV augment indirectly gave her very high stats due to her choice of association.

Meanwhile for combat, ranged attacks she can just tank and absorb with her angel augment, and trying to CQC someone like her is a tall order due to the inhuman amount of stolen combat experience. In most cases, her opponents would be syndicates too, which means she can pick off someone weaker, gain their memories, and with it a ton of knowledge about the enemy syndicate, from how their elites fight, patrol patterns of guards, what resources are at their disposal, etc. The other, more subtle use of her angle augment is that she can simply borrow the skillsets of her victims. She's not trained in stealth? No problem. She killed scores of syndicate thugs who were assassins. That kinda thing. She may not have had as powerful of a trump card as the others, but her omnicompetence made her extremely dangerous in practice.

I haven't decided exactly where she'd place, but it'd be a tier or two higher. If she was a star of the city, it would have been for her ability to dismantle organizations rather than for direct combat strength. Like Grim would sweep her, but pre-sinner Morella would take a knowledge based syndicate like Carter's and eat it for breakfast.

Man I was reading a game type Manhwa and it was slop but it was okay slop, but abruptly the MC basically went up a cultivator tier and the bad guy came back being called the Demon Emperor or whatever they always say in cultivator stuff and the MCs hair got really long out of nowhere and now its doing martial arts training arcs and stuff and im so dissapointed about it suddenly being cultivator stuff.
