โถTQ: Which Kill Team do you think is the sexiest?
Why the fuck can't I get typhon anywhere in Australia. This is fucked
>>95975292 (OP)>TQIf you just mean has the best sculpt, I think I'd say either the Yaegirs or the Kommandos, I really think they capture the spec ops nature for both factions well and have enough detail to be cool without being so much its distracting like Warpcoven.
If you mean actually fuckably sexy, it's gotta be Pathfinders, because T'au are only good for taking dick
>>95975292 (OP)>TQWhat even are the contenders here? Banshees, Novitiates, Brood brothers female magus, the three woman from starstriders, female cultists, harlequins and ogryns?
>>95975486Go outside and pick 5 spiders, hereโs your raveners mate
>>95975486As far as I can tell it seems to have sold out world wide or at least in most countries. It's the Ashes of Faith of this edition. Oddly both are narrative heavy, coincidentally?
>>95975914Kek
>>95975912>I like them big, I like them chunky
>>95975922The difference to ashes is that independent stores got more than 5 boxes this time..
>>95975922Well the box had high demand but there where at least 50 times as much boxes as ashes of faith (i still cannot believe i got both boxes) and i believe with that there where more boxes than most of last editions boxes. I also believe that the narrative part in here is the least reason why it was so popular.
>>95975486There was a few on ebay yesterday but they got snatched up fast
>Haven't played a game in over a month
I'm suffering bros
>>95976087Playing the game is suffering itself it seems
Got my Typhon box yesterday. Has it been posted already?
>>95976183Haven't seen it yet and the link is empty.
>>95976087Then play. Call your friends, go into a store/club, go online and play tt simulator, play solo mode.
Any point in posting the cards, or just the book?
>>95976821Well if you wanne play the missions of the book you need the mission cards at least. Posting them would be a nice thing.
>>95976821Would appreciate it if you could post both thanks
>>95976840>>95976871Alright mates. It'll be done within the hour I reckon
>>95975922I mean, the Australian golden orb weaver, various species of huntsman, and Northern Tree Funnel-web are all about 40mm in body length and you probably can with posing get the legs to fit. Especially since the actual ravener models have bits that over hang off the base.
Tbh, this idea works better than it should. Contact your local Entomologist and see if you can get some pined spiders. We might be onto something here.
>>95976877Hit a bit of a snag with some of the pics, retaking them now. I'll put them up on a site since it's way too much to spam the thread with.

>>95975912There's an ogryn kill team?

>>95975292 (OP)>TQIt doesn't exist yet
Sisters of Silence
Emperor's Children Cultist Kill Team when?
>>95977385Hopefully never
How are pathfinders? I found a pretty good deal on them so I recently bought them? Do they just sit in a corner and shoot for most of the game?
>>95975292 (OP)>TQNGL the lady Goremongers have got something going on
>>95975486Get Malstrains and add some tactical rocks. They look way better anyway.
>>95977385Headswap some Goremongers and call them the Cummongers
>>95977408They recently got a significant buff, but their effectiveness still depends in large part on the terrain
With volkus being almost entirely heavy terrain, they can struggle a bit depending on the layout
>>95977418Chaos version of lara croft? Tank top, two guns, shorts, holster. Sneaky guys once again "took inspiration" elsewhere.
>>95977418im reminded how dogshit these models are
>>95975292 (OP)tq: It has to be the seven foot tall, lithe, big-haired, ginger, 200 year old mommies who are wearing armor that is designed to look specifically like a naked woman, even down to the rounded belly and navel.
>>95976087You probably made plenty of time for vidya and slapping the salami in the past month. Text your friends right now and see who is available for a game. I've got 2 - 4 games lined up for my three days off next week. You just gotta commit to reaching out to people and providing a clean, weloming space. Beer, Coffee. Sugary drinks, weed and the like should be available too.
>>95978653t. shit taste
goremongers more like cockmonglers LMAO
>>95978653t. Patrician taste
I love goremongers and arbites. Most homoerotic of teams.
>>95978644I will paint her with teal top.
>>95978358I gotcha, thanks. Do they sit still and shoot for the whole game or are they a really mobile shooting team?
>>95979920While they do have some pieces that encourage mobility or playing up close to the enemy (drones have 8" move as long as your drone controller is alive, for example), most of their heavy hitters prefer to just sit back and markerlight/shoot everything to death
>>95980043I gotcha. Is there a team that plays the best as a mobile shooting team? I really like the play style of trying to move and shoot while staying far enough away to stay safe
>>95980084You could look at vespids, any of the elf teams, or maybe even phobos marines for that
Anyone got a scan of the compendium? Couldn't see it in the links
>>95980150It'd be bad to have old edition material still sitting around the OP to confuse new players into thinking it's still usable.
Here's an upload of the file I have saved, but this one is old, modified to be more useful to players in the early days of KT21, and doesn't include any of the errata for it: https://files.catbox.moe/f4itkr.pdf
>>95980107Thanks man, Iโll give vespids a look
>>95980084Blades of Khaine is what you're looking for. They can move 10 inches per turn and shoot on top of that with their third APL.
>>95978644Larakynn Craoftrayder
>>95980762Don't, vespids are a mobile shooting army but they are mostly meant for close range shooting, Armies that are meant for ranged shooting usually are not very mobile (also without any melee capacity you cannot take objectives and usually just loose) Hierotec cyrcle are gunline and despite being slow have some fast movement tricks. Blades of khain and Angels of death/phobos. can be played fast and shooty but usually are sub optimal without melee options. there is more but you see non really fit that role in an decent build but Vespids despide fly are not a good advice.
board

๐
Anyone here have any advice for making custom boards?
I've got a piece of ply with raised borders on all four sides (internal dimensions 30"*22") and I'm wondering how to decorate it so that it allows for lots of different terrain permutations while also being interesting to look at. So far I've glued the edges of cork board at a few points around the edges. I was planning on gluing down some space marine helmets, skulls, corrugated iron plasticard and other bits and pieces before laying down sand/vallejo mud/crackle paint in various places. I was going to attach the bits/sand first, prime black and then do the paint/crackle paste before doing the rest of the painting. I'm worried about the board looking too flat but at the same time I don't want to make it too uneven or else the terrain may look weird when placed on top.
Here's a crappy phone pic of it in its current state
>>95982306You want it to be more flat than raised. Kill Team boards should be more modular than say Necromunda boards. Putting some mud or sand should be more than enough. Just be sure you place terrain easily on it.
>>95982306>>95982353what he said, either you have to be flat to make it modular or you have to commit to a nice mostly fixed board. there is no real in between.

๐
>>95982353>>95982419Thanks for the advice.
The board is definitely going to be mostly flat, with maybe a few raised sections at the very edges.
My thoughts were that I could get away with scattering a few small bits across the board without messing up terrain placement, i.e. that if a piece of Volkus terrain has to move a few mm to sit flat its not a huge deal.
Here's a few bits from my box as an example, sorry for the poor quality pics. Got a bunch of skulls as well
>>95982435Post a pic when you're done.
>>95982435If you wanne have an open board that should be fine but as soon as you plan on using the ItD walls that is going to be a problem.
>>95982458Will do. Don't expect it to be done anytime soon, I've got a bunch of things I'm working on.
>>95982459I'm only planning on using this side of the board for Volkus/open setups.
>>95982636You're quick, did you get the box early or something?
Did you decide not to build all the specialists? Or does the picture not show the difference clearly between the operatives
>>95982796I got the box on saturday. I build all 5 of the specialists, but did not use the stupid looking heads for some of them. I like the plain warrior heads more.
>>95982796Not him but he did not use the heads for the leader and the tremor (the other 3 are specialists but partly hard to see and one of them could have a normal head or a special head, hard to tell without being able to see his cheeks but his weaponry are the poison talons..
The Servitor Team seems to be a single-box team, or am I mistaken? It seems to be extremely easy to magnetize.
Do the Raveners use the stats of a standard Heavy NPO in the coop missions, or do they have their own profile that's heavier than a Heavy? Do they just use their standard Kill Team operative stats?
>>95982977There is not much to magnetize anyways other than the two flamers.
>>95982987they have their own seperate npo stats

Calling them done. A shame i have to wait for the weekend to play with them now.
>>95986398Ary to ask but isn't that silly making the one poisonous guy green but not the other? Otherwise looking good, Bad that you have to wait i feel ya but i am still painting them anyways.
>>95986566Obviously he's full of green poison.
>>95986694I meant this, kinda.
>>95986738Good point and thank you. I kinda did not see those poison-bits there while painting, but it absoluely should become green too. It will be fixed, i promise.
>>95986771No promise needed, paint like you want them to. It was just my unprofessional opinion but i am glad that i could help if you just overlooked it.
How does Fellgor do against melee elites right now?
Nothing released this season has appealed to me. Le sigh.
>>95987132Donโt they get dumpstered by elites in general?
>>95985329Im curious, post some picts when you build them.
Kill Team Monday. My Death Guard against my buddies Phobos. On a spaceship map. He was missing a couple of pieces so we had to make do with shop terrain for a couple doors and walls.
>>95989902dont remeber his exact layout...3 different pairs of Phobos if I remember correctly....dude with a wire mine...guys who got rid of obscuring....
>>95989906The debut of my Malignant Plaguecaster.
>>95989908Opening actions of the left flank. My champion and Fighter press up...he pops open a door and takes some potshots at my Champion. poor rols on his side, doing only 4 points of damage with 2 rounds of shooting. He then followed up with his melee guy running at my champion. I was in Overwatch and HotShotted him with my plasma pistol as he was running at me....ended up taking 6 points of damage from the Hotshot. Follow-up melee I killed him off with taking only a couple of points of damage in return. The hotshot did more to me than his melee attacks. My champion would fall the next turn from following up bolter fire from the first guy who shot at him.
>>95989921most of the action in the center where I push my Gunner, Caster and icon bearer into the middle on overwatch. did push my warrior up the right flank to try and grab that objective point.
>>95989927aaaand make sure i add the image....
>>95989932he charges one guy at my caster and the melee goes poorly for him....then he rushes another guy in and I blast him with the plauge caster.....made all my attack rolls and he failed all his armor saves...dead marine in one shit. Gunner gets the MVP for me for the game
>>95989937Bolter fire starts to take a toll on my guys in the middle....soon reduced to the icon bearer....
>>95989943he clears the room and moves in to try and grab points.....We were playing the Surge Objective and I had managed to grab 2 of the surges and keep them for points....and that was the Tac I chose so I got 6 points for them..and he picked Kill for his Tac and scored 6 points for that...each of us had 3 points from other sources...for a total of 9 points each..first time Ive seen a tie.....looking forward to more ship fights!
>>95975292 (OP)I have 2 kill teams, the Ork Kommandos and the Vet Guard from the first release. KT is not my main game, TOW is, but I want a third option 2 isn't enough because I do still play it.
I'm thinking Kroot or Tyranids. How do they compare? Is one of them trash that I can ignore and just pick the other?
>>95990125Tyranids literally dropped two days ago so not much experience with them yet except some youtubers.
Kroot are not unplayable but usually one of the weaker teams or worse.
Tyranids have the most distinct playstyle to vetguard and commandos so if you want something similar go with kroot if you want something different and new go with tyranids.
>>95990125>Tyranidsyou're gonna wait for a couple of months before the standalone box releases, unless you proxy or are very lucky that your local store still has copies of typhon
Say hello to your new kill team
They're going to go full jew and make a full box not guarantee all models like they did with the last batch of AoS heroes
New kill team it seems. https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/msumipr2/warhammer-heroes-brings-another-elite-team-of-space-marines-to-the-battlefield/
>>95991666What are you talking about. Its nowhere hinted that these are going to be for kill team.
>>95991666They already did that with the last heroes boxes (they got shoved together with the intercessionteam to form angels of death)
>>95991677For Justian you got 1 of each model if you bought a sealed box of 8
>>95991673>datacards on the picture>"Each box will come with a Kill Team datacard for the miniature, ..."are you blind?
>>95991666>>95991670please be an AoD extension...
>>95991686Alright, didn't know that. but did kinda defeat the logic behind the boxes in the first place.
>>95991702It says 'Strike Force Variel' on the card in
>>95991670
>>95991702>".... with the operative stats, weapons and strategy ploy...">"Collect them all and you have a simple-to-learn streamlined Kill Team..."does not sound like it but who knows.
>>95991702Maybe next edition like with strike force justian.
>>95991712They always do it like that, because you can buy them blind and individual as well.
>>95991666>>95991670Thank God I bought Leviathan back then so I don't have to chase for a single Sternguard fucker. At least I won't have to bother with magnetising this time.
>>95991742It wasn't purely random until the recent Warhammer Heroes with the Stormcast, all the previous ones got you all the models from 1 box except one of the Death Guard models was locked to Japan
>>95991666So who is the mystery nigga, looks like a combat blade for one of the weapons
>>95991666I am curious about the "mystery guy" looks like he has a beatstick or something. Could also be the grip of a mace or similar and the other thing looks like a knive... sounds like a stupid combo so i am probably wrong here.
>>95991779>>95991769Knife and gun, simple as.
>>95991792What gun would that be, looks more like a Chaplain with combat blade as the "dual knife guy" in the team.
>>95991670>>95991666Oh nice, a reason to assemble and paint some more marines out of the spare sprue bits I have lying in my box
I really liked building the phobos sniper for AoD with deathwatch legs and the new scout arms, so I'll probably do that again for this pair of phobos options, and the regular bolter and regular melee guys I can just recycle.
>>95991666Another bland series of recycled model, should have been deathwatch.
Were there Overwatch counters provided in the Into the Dark set? if not-what do people use to mark Overwatch?
>>95991960The backside of the silly woundmarkers had various other symbols for that and other things.
>>95991957They're generic shartmaris marines, you can paint them black if you want
>>95991808>looks more like a ChaplainNope. The WarCom silhouette is shit. The one posted on Instagram looks much more like a guy holding a knife and a bolt pistol.
>>95992294from the picture above you can clearly see the knife, and something that might be a pistol, or maybe a chainsword
>>95992294That looks even less like a pistol
>>95991957>recycled Recycled from where?
>>95989906why do all his goobers look so stiff
>>95992380glorious fdm proonts please understand
>>95992337You can kind of thee something that could be a magazine. kind of like (pic related).
>>95992425yep, pretty sure its one of the ugly new pistols.
bring a letter scale into the store with you. The sprues will have different weights to them; the scale will be able to pick up on them. It worked for yugioh cards, able to pick up the presence of a card sized piece of foil; it will be able to clearly tell the marines apart. If the store owner complains, just say that you plan to buy several and do so. We could almost get a chart going of the different weights once they are on shelves.
As long as you buy a different weight each time, you can get the full team with no repeat.
>>95992393The material does not explain the bad poses.
>>95992494Or just buy similar models on ebay for a tenth of the price the fucking overpriced boxes cost instead of buying a 30$ scale and piss off your stores?
>>95992528This. Nothing about those models is special, and the poses are not really that cool either.
>Sternguard>Heavy Intercessor>Reiver>Assault Intercessor>Flamer guy from Leviathan (literally free in any GW store)>Incursor>hidden figure which is just another Reiver or Assault Intercessor
>>95992522But it explains the process of working with said material and aquireing the blueprint for the creations.
>>95992531Yes, in my native language we use the same word for a clip and for a magazine.
>>95992544>Heavy Intercessor?
>>95992522it does since you can't proont anything dynamic that also wont look like dogshit with fdm
I'm gonna buy a box offa target cuz it's like 70 dollarinos and if I get extras I can sell them at my FLGS to recoup 10% of my losses
>>95992558and in the language you chose to write your post in, this is wrong.
>>95992580Complain to the translation tool.
>>95992494You can just read the series code. People post the numbers on reddit and you can figure out which guy you want/need.
>>95992544Other than the sergeant/captain, Eliminator, Deathguard, and Terminator. This "Heroes" series has been nothing more than "buy an expensive sculpted base and get a free marine"
>>95992494or you could just wait until they get released in a boxed set like what happened with plague marines aka space marines heroes 3
>>95992580No one fucking cares and the person that should care the least is the blind retard that can't see a pistol.
>>95992602Pretty much this.
I dont get how they can get away with putting those outright boring models into those blind boxes when they had a set of 7 great and characterful deathguard.
The Terminators were good too, but mostly because the plastic set was so old in comparison, back when they were released.
>>95992613instead of thanking me for correcting your mistake you get mad. typical 3rd world behaviour.
>>95992692Collectors, kids, idiots i guess?
>>95993001What are you missing?
>>95993042how to do operative progression in kt24
>>95993172Officially there is non and probably will be non this edition. I guess he thought you mean scans of the "narrative" content of the Typhon box.
>>95993172Its simple enough to port the old xp system forward, people have already done it and you can find it floating around
>>95993192Why isn't that in the header or the compendium conversion? Better than a dead link and a teamsummary no one seem to understand.
>>95993217I dunno bro, I don't make the threads
But here's a narrative conversion done by one of the kill team podcasts
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MduHD0NxPTKk6SD5tmZ61IbioaOyc6APuv6aW5-IveM/edit?usp=sharing
>>95993296Not the one that asked but thx.
>>95993296but those are just the standard compendium stuff and not the neat kill team specific ones
>>95993403Most of the team-specific battle honors and strategic assets can just be copy-pasted over with no change. And for the few that can't, its relatively simple to make the necessary tweaks
Hey Iโm new and Iโm trying to learn the rules on behalf of my friends
They really want to get into it but they have like 90IQ max so its not gonna happen unless I learn the rules and GM for the group
Either that or each turn is gonna take 3 hours
And tips or pointers or simplified rulesets we can use or something to get us started?
If I run into a situation we donโt know how to resolve Iโll probably just make some shit up idk, thats what I used to do when we played D&D
>>95993464If you want to GM for your friends, you could try running an acolyte campaign
https://linktr.ee/acolytegame
As an option, at least.
>>95993464First try the basic game. Befor starting Acolyte. There are some rules that can be confusing sometimes, but making things up or simplifying is a good choice if you don't plan to play with random people. The preperations befor the actual game starts is often something low iq people wanne skip (not only low iq people of course) the cover system can be confusing at times, for example how vantage points give "more" cover to the target that you usually would not be able to shoot at all.
>>95993464The core rulebook has a preliminary ops section that uses slightly slimmed down rules to start
>>95993464Either
>>95993483 or just start more simple by removing ploys, missions etc, and play a first game of pure deathmatch, so they get how to move, shoot and conceal without getting too distracted by all the other stuff, or you could play coop for 1-2 games first. The books give you options to play with one split team (everyone plays half or a third of the minis) vs some random npc grunt enemies, think about it as a wave based arena shooter.
>>95993483Never heard of this
Looks cool Iโll check it out
>>95993521>>95993534>>95993535We can try a normal game first without all the additional ploys and missions and stuff but yeah weโre gonna have 3-4 people so we will have to do teams or something
>>95993583Well, if its 3-4, including you and you want to teach them all at the same time, you could be the "GM", while they play together vs a horde of Tyranids or Ork boys or Guardsmen whatever minis you have.
>>95993593Cool idea
I didnโt know the rules allowed for such things
That sounds much closer to running D&D games which is what Iโm used to anyway
>>95993678Then look for the JOINT OPS MISSION PACK in the core rules, those are the rules against non player characters (or non player operatives like the game calls them). They are pretty simple and have no rpg elements but really good to learn the basics of the game and how the teams work.
Won last night's match, 16-14. Scouts revealed my Tac Op, Contain. But my opponent was new to 2 APL teams and in their eagerness to deny my Tac Op, he overextended his Plant Beacons into my waiting electro-cudgels.
Scouts are clearly a gun line army; his gunners and sniper did far more damage than the big knife Scouts. Very tight game. Fun, too.
I have a couple teams to put together, but don't actually have a killzone yet since I've just been playin TTS so far while putting my dudes together. Is there a killzone I should get between gallowdark and volkus?
>>95986398I love that they gave us back 3rd edition style raveners with this update. They're so twisty and wormy.
>>95995448volkus is unique and interesting, and theres nothing stopping you from just using volkus terrain in regular KT games as actual enterable buildings with rules for opening doors and whatnot
>>95995448Volkus is good if you want a new open board
Gallowdark is a very different game experience if you'd like something new
>>95996501i meant gallowdark shit
>>95996525Volkus is barely open with all the heavy cover
>>95997695Yea volkus is intended to be a mix of open and ItD so it plays a bit like both.
I just bought Typhon for 40k reasons but I am actually interested into trying KT. I have that and a Mandrake box, how do they play? Are they beginner friendly? Also would I need to procure something extra to play?
>>95997940Non of those three teams is beginner friendly. Mandrakes play rather "stay in cover and piss off the enemy with tricks while teleporting around". Well if you play 40k you don really NEED much more than the core rules and some tokens (to mark what order your units have and if they already activated or not are the most important but you can make them yourself). those things like terrain, dice, ruler from 40k should be usable.
>>95997964I saw that there are stuff like barricades and generic equipment in sprues, is that necessary or can I avoid it at the beginning?
>>95997987You can avoid that totally but usually at some point you want something similar at least (some just can be a base or cardboard though).
>>95997987Not having them will deprive you of some options that, depending on the map and matchup, could be incredibly valuable
Specifically, heavy, light, and portable barricades, ladders, and razor wire all require a physical model of some kind with the right proportions
>>95998003>>95998007GW releasing a game with virtually obligatory gubbins required only to discontinue them with no warning is truly ridiculous.
>>95998014It's not discontinued because it's still on the website but they'd got better things to use their limited injection molding machines on
>>95998028>it's still on the websiteIt is not.

Checked US, GB and AU and all worked
>>95998041Adding to that, you can still find it in some 3rd party online stores.
>>95998031It is out of stock but still in the shop.
>>95998041>>95998052I stand corrected. It was not present on their webstore at all for most European countries just 2-3 weeks ago.
>>95998073You also get it in hivestorm if you find a copy in the wild
>>95998126Yea but that thing is definitly discontinued (so irrelevant for his argument). still strange that there isn't even a cardboard version in the starterbox.
>>95998142you can find it on ebay and most shelves.
>>95998150Yea but his argument was that GW is no longer producing those things and you cannot buy it through GW itself. So it is not relevant to the argument.
is there a qrd of the changes from KT21? is KT24 /better/?
>>95998212There probably is but it is mostly a lot of small details, tyding up some wording and stuff. Changing the special weapon rules and how obscuring and counteracting works , reducing pregamestuff and archetype, including kill ops, making missions with 3 instead of 6 objectives and the complete removal of narrative rules and replacing it with a pve coop/solo mode are probably the biggest changes. And yes if you can accept that removal of compendium teams and narrative rules it is better.
>>95998251that does sound better tbqh
should still be compatible with ITD missions etc, right?
>>95998647Gallowdark is still supported yes
And as discussed above, you can port the narrative rules over without too much difficulty if you really want
>>95998647The old missions are not really supported (you can still play them though) but the ItD terrain has got new missions this edition so you still can officially use the terrain.
>>95993172Here: https://malev-da-shinobi.itch.io/mjo/download/eyJpZCI6MzAyOTc4NCwiZXhwaXJlcyI6MTc1MTQ3MDExMn0%3d.uf5M4PQmFP0qfdA1MOgcl8O9CiQ%3d
Trying to figure out a color scheme for my kasrkin, do you all like any of these? Iโm still trying to decide where to place the secondary color, Iโm more interested which color combo you all like the most
>>95999423You are set on the white armor? It does not look good at all.
>>95999429Iโve always thought white armor looked really striking, but Iโm open to other suggestions
>>95999423I like white+red then white+blue then white+orange. They all kinda give me the same vibe as early fps death match character models. Like something you'd see in a quake or half-life rip off in 2000.
>>95999511If you like it, stick to it. By all means, its your minis, but you asked for opinions and i just dont like white body armor.
From your pictures, i think the purple one looks best.
The blue armour might work, but not with light blue fatigues. Maybe try white for the cloth there and see how that looks?
>>95999585>>95999602Thanks anons, I appreciate it
>but you asked for opinions and i just dont like white body armorI did, and I appreciate the input, thanks!
>>95999423Top left needs the same gun as the rest. Top middle... did you drop your transparent orange chainsaw somewhere? Bottom left is my favourite, because that's a lovely shade of green (now good luck trying to match monitor and paint colour). Orange/red/purple doesnโt work as well with the red lenses as the blues and green.
>>959994231.White blue
2. white red
i think the placement of the secondary color is good. (what programm is that?)
>>95998691>>95998727sweet, thanks anons.
where can i see the new missions for this edition?
>>96001555The usual places are found in the OP otherwise you would need the books from the boxes or maybe the official app? i am not sure about the app i can't use it.
>>96001555>>96001577No the official app just has the lite rules and team rules
Just use battlekit like everyone else
>>95999511Castellan green armour, with zandri dust for the fatigues
For hunter clade, is all ranger skitarii the way to go? Is there ever a time Iโd want vanguard skitarii?
>>96007746Specifically against gellerpox and chaos cult they have merit. Just the to hit penalty they apply to melee attackers can make even the nightmare hulks flubb killing a basic ass vanguard most of the time. Since those teams have basically nothing but melee with bad hit rolls they can get walled really easily. Those teams also reward you for hitting them with the rending shots more than the piercing crits shots.
Against everything else, I think rangers are basically better. And those will also work against the 4+ melee teams almost as well as the vanguard either way so if you're only building one set I'd say just ranger it up.
>>96007746>Heavy (Reposition only)Depends on how mobile you like to be.
>>96007900Yeah but how often are you using your once per turn APL boost to make a regular guy move shoot dash instead of a gunner
>>96007917>or the +1 apltrue if everything goes right, never.
>>96007857Thanks anon. So for Gellerpox and chaos cult, would all vanguard skitarii be the way to go, or still keep the gunners as rangers?
>>96008578Honestly not sure. Benefit to vanguard if they end up in melee, benefit to rangers if they get to stand still and still shoot. Take your pick which one you think would get the most benefit.
The plasma should honestly be vanguard at all times just because the weapon has lethal when you need it anyways, unless you plan to have it next to a ranger leader when it shoots.
is nemesis claw still the most honest elite team?
>>96008984Deathguard are up there too in the sense that they don't have any surprises or 20 different triggers for you to forget during the strategic gambit step.
>>96009015aren't they just too insanely strong to call honest though?
>>96009379Plagues statistical performance is actually perfectly in-band
Warpcoven and Nemesis Claw both outperform them consistently
>>96009784so nemesis claw truly is just outright based
simple as that
good to know
>>96009805based? no
honest? also no
>>96009379>>96009784Are Death Guard fun to play against? They seem so hard to kill that I canโt see how it wouldnโt feel like a slog to play against. Although, I guess thatโs thematic for them. So, mission accomplished?
Visited my mom for a week and my brother swung by to play some kill team. Played three matches. First was plague marines versus Nemesis claw. Started very well for the nemesis claw, but the plague marines came back to tie the game at the end of tp4. Game two we swapped teams, he played plagues for the first time and I played his night lords. I managed to beat him 13-8. Last game we did was wrecka crew versus Nemesis claw which came down to a 1v1 at the end of tp4. Boss nob versus Visionary. Neither died, but had my nob not been sitting on the point I would have lost 10-9 instead of winning 10-9
>>96011114They can be, easy to put them in awkward charge ranges with the 5" move. However absolutely deadly and tanky on their side of the board.
>>96011277Ignore my gallowdark as I forgot the pieces to connect the walls and the caps that go on top.
>>95999423I like the orange and blue
>>95999511What about inverted? White gauntlets/kneepads/shoulder padding and colorful armor
>>96011277Do you guys understand, that ITD terrain layouts need some light or sometimes even heavy terrain within those giant corridors and rooms? And that the only reason we don't have them is that some accountant calculated that putting universal small pieces of terrain into boxes of ITD is not so profitable for GW?
Just think about it, our layouts are lame, because GW saves money and we as a community don't have balls to invent and follow our own layouts.
I liked how community took initiative in our hands and invented several sophisticated, good tournament rules packs for KT 2018.
What happened to us now?
>>96012124inb4: there are small pieces in the box!
yeah-yeah, i own 2 sets, i know. These pieces were just considered not worthy to be included into competitive layouts for some reasons (we could guess why - they're only in 1 box, and thus not universal enough).
>>95992466It's a normal reiver with their fancy bolt pistol and knife. What you're even guessig?
>>96011000Nah I know whats going on here youre one of those israeli subversion bots sent here to demotivate the based chadly nemesis claw players
Not gonna work bud
>>96009379Yeah a minimal amount of gotchas and three very straightforward faction rules make them very honest. They are strong, but probably the most straightforward; moreso than any other elites. I cannot think of a more honest team besides like Felgore or Kommandos.
>>96011114They are quite fun to play against because the game isn't over by like round two. Anyone can nuke down a team that is normal, but because they can't be nuked down, they are kind of a different puzzle to play against. And even if they are too strong, I like that there is a team I can give to new people so they don't get bummed about excessive rules or fragile operatives.
>>96012124shadowvaults and soulshackle fix this, no?
>>96013510For every ItD box: mostly yes but getting your hands on those is the real problem.
>>96013793I cant believe there are still people who dont just proxy shit or 3d print everything
You can get literally anything proxied from etsy or other similar sites
>>96013880Yes i don't say you NEED the stuff from the boxes but he said something about the boxes and that stuff is hard to get. You can use whatever rubble you find or make yourself, "bill making stuff" style.
>>96011283Honestly of all the maps, gallowdark can take 45 fucking minutes to set up so mine are almost exclusively like your Pic. I cant be fucked to sit there and figure out that the "M" peice has the extra light bulb fixture on it and shaving down peices so they actually fucking fight together. Cool set but a pain in the ass to set up.
>>96013917That is the main reason why we don't use official layouts for ITD terrain and just gobble something together each time.
How did everyones first game ever go?
>>96014112Necrons (me) vs Tyranids (veteran player friend of my bigger brother). My necrons "dematerialized" befor being able to do anything because they just got mowed down by acid sporemines. (back in the days where the ran away if 75% of the army died and sporemines still had different variants with flametemplates and such) Really shit game, absolutely no mercy.
>>96014112My first ever game was an attempt by a friend to teach me 5th edition bighammer back some time around 2009. If my memory serves correctly, we never got very far, but it was a cool experience.
If you mean of kill team, that would be the 7th edition modified rules once at the local store where my marines got absolutely plastered by scion hotshots.
If you mean of current kill team, it started with my balefire acolyte smoking three daeldari on activation 1 and then petered out into nothingness as the rest of the marines failed to score even a few more kills over the rest of the game. Felt pretty bad personally because I realised afterwards I misremembered one of the tzeentch special rules in a pretty bad way.
>>96014112My first ever actual game was teaching a friend of mine who had barely read the rules
He didn't realize that, unlike bighammer, most weapons had infinite range and so deployed nearly all of his guys out in the open and promptly got shot to pieces
>>96014136Oh right this is the KT section sorry. I don't really remember my first KT match it was befor the first KT rulebook and i was wasted. Only thing i remember is that we where 4 people, SM(me)/guard vs orc/nids.
>>96014112grey knights (me) against the generic necron kill team (not hierotek circle) on octarius. It was sort of a shooting gallery with relentless on every storm bolter since i'd seized the high ground. the next time i saw my opponent he just went to play combat patrol/big 40k
>>96014112I won actually
I was playing against myself
Just built my box of wrecka krew. Iโve got
>leader with dual pistols
>demolisha
>krusha
>gunner with heavy rokkit
>rokkiteer with pulse
>fighter
>squigs x2
Is it worth buying a second box to build the other gunner, leader, and some more fighters?
>>96013880Why would I want to though? It's cheaper to just buy it all from one place so I don't have to waste my time buying a bunch of crap from China. Can you not afford 60 bucks bro?
>>96015378Anon we were specifically talking about shit with stock issues
And second of all proxies have been very high quality for reasonable prices in my experience, though Iโm sure that varies significantly based on seller
Anyone got any funny stories for kill team? I managed to kill three plague marines back to back playing as wrecka krew.
>Managed to kill one marine with a bomb squig from full health. I rolled all hits vs him failing all saves.
>Managed to kill the plague champ where 1 melee action knocked him to one health and he got cleaned up with a shot.
>Last marine killed in one shot by rolling lucky with my demolisher tank hammer.
>>96015931During a narrative campaign, one of my friends Blooded managed to get a charge off on one of my Hierotek bugs and botched his rolls badly enough that the nigh-helpless plasmacyte not only survived but even got some damage in on him
For failing Khorne so utterly, my friend renamed the operative to something humiliating
>>96015943I had the opposite happen where a harlequin charged my blooded commander with plasma pistol and cleaver, and somehow my cleaver leader got lucky enough to kill him with minimal damage.
>>96015293play a few games before doubling your investment. you might not even like wrecka krew.
>>96015931>Playing a game, Exaction squad versus Blooded>Blooded ogryn charges and fights my leader with shield.>I take a few hits, but only manage a few wounds on the ogryn>Fight is in a bad spot on the map, well within range of some of his operatives on vantage>Decide to shoot his ogryn with a standard shotgun>4 hits>0 saves>Kill ogryn>Leader gets shot>2 hits>2 savesWould've lost the leader turn 2 if he got a better roll onto him
Won the game partially because of the leader surviving until the end of the game
>>96015931Tyranids vs orks (both compendium). Nids (me) loosing, but one hero hormagaunt implants 2 orks and gets me points for behind enemy lines just so i get one point ahead (he fucking survived 3 rounds of melee while implanting against orks) what a legend.
So according to leakers the next Kill Team box is called Dead Silence. A lot of people speculated it would involve SoS and/or Necrons because of this, but now that we had the little hat tease vid go up for the July Preview I think I've figured it out.
Deathwatch vs Harlequin Mimes.
>>96017423Well, the hats did show something that could be interpreted as harlequins but is there a "fantasy" equivalent that it could be? Also it does not mean they need to be meant for KT as Void dancers still exist. So just keep that in mind and don't get your hopes up to much (similar with deathwatch,).
>>96017423Names can get pretty wild when describing some teams, like the kasrkin vs necrons box was called Shadowvaults and if you somehow guessed squats vs GSC from the name "termination" you're worth investigating for divination powers.
But man I would be eating good if we finally got our deathwatch team.
>>96017536It is kinda the season of requests ey? abhuman team was highly requested a dozens times, WE team, tyranids, new admech, more orcs. tau auxiliars. lots of people just think they kinda monkeypawed those teams but there are a lot of happy fans as well.
>>95979449I... Fuck that's a Nice headswap.
>>96017423Please please please no more human teams. We just got 2 human teams; they are boring to paint and look like shit. Can we please get some more xenos?
Give me Dinosaur Aesthetic Aeldar vs Some ultra super secret alpha necrons. I am really growing tired of every team being a bunch of dudes covered in leather straps and buckles.
>>96018570Kinda the wrong gamne then, we have dudes, bigger armoured dudes, metal dudes, dudes with pointy ears, dudes without nose in blue, green buff dudes, small chunky dudes, mutaded dudes... oh and some dogs. nearly everything in warhammer as a whole looks like dudes or "mutated" dudes.
>>96018603I'm talking specifically about the ones that have a bunch of random crap all over their bodies. Vespids were so much fun in comparison to the Aquilons who were literally just 45 different straps and buttons. I know that it makes sense for humans in setting to have those, so then just pick different groups to focus on. Khorne team? How about random humans with belts and greeble and random metal bits? New Admech team? humans with belts and greeble and random metal bits. New ratlings? Small humans with belts and greeble and random metal bits.
They specifically seem to default to "fuck it, put more straps" when sculpting humans nowadays. Pic related; please give me something that isn't a human with various leather belts. It's kind of lazy design.
>>96018686That's just how the models are now, you've got tons of stupid details that are a pain in the ass to deal with. At least the new servitors seem inspired from the old ones but man they've got a lot of shit to paint.
>>96018686Absolutely correct.
I love the Goremongers and Aquilons, but these dudes have as much greebling as a Slavic proxy
>>96018686>last box nidsDoesn't count?
>>96018686To be fair if they do not they get shit on by the community for making lazy models with no charme n shit. and the munda models that are full of this stuff always get praised.
>>96017610When you starve your community for team releases, every team becomes highly requested
And I don't think anyone asked for sanctifiers, more world eater cultists, or drop troop scions so a significant portion of the teams are hardly big requests
>>96019157sanctifiers and scions, no i dont think they where requested but world eater where mentioned a lot last edition together with the other mentioned ones. i just guess they did not want cultists, thats where the monkey pawn thingy comes into play.
>>96019174Whenever I've seen world eaters requested it's been specifically the marines
Technically part of the same army but far enough removed that I wouldn't count it
>>96019206Most of the time it was just "world eaters when" or similar. Also we already know that GW does not care if "you" think it counts or not. Sanctifiers are SoB after all and i clearly would not count them.
>>96018686>They specifically seem to default to "fuck it, put more straps" when sculpting humans nowadaysBreaking news, James Workshop signed a contract with Nomura to work on 40k
>>96018686Show your xenos teams
I used an old ravener model to test out a paint scheme while I wait for the new ones to come in the mail, what do you all think of this?
>>96019308Hive fleet leviathan/10
Still a nice scheme though
>>96019308Wtf nearly same as my sheme. the pink is just darker and only on details not on the claws. (logically i like it.)
>>96019308Unlike the Tyranids, you will never change your biology.
>>96019321>>96019342>>96019396Thanks anons
>>96019400Aw fuck, I hate that it looks so close to those colors. All I was trying to do is copy one of my favorite yugioh cards
>>96019400>>96019321I think you've got the wrong colours guys
>>96019442Dont worry he is just an idiot. Everyone that complains are just hater idiots with no clue because one of three colors is already wrong.
>>96017536Sure but you're describing some pretty old boxes there. This season most of the names have been good hints. Brutal and Cunning definitely gave away Orks, Blood and Zeal suggested both Khorne and "Sisters", Typhon was 100% Tyranids, etc.
>>96017473We know Kill Team is getting previewed, so at least one of those hats has to be relevant to KT. Out of the hats that were shown that could be 40k related, we got Deathwatch, Votann, Harlequins (no there is not really any fantasy thing that could be clowns), a pirate hat that could maybe be Corsairs or something, the egyptian hat which could MAYBE be Necrons but is much more likely to be Tomb Kings, and I think that's about it.
Votann have a codex coming soon and already have two KTs so I doubt they're the KT release, that one is probably just 40k stuff. Deathwatch are overdue for inclusion in KT so that one's pretty obvious and again fits the name "Dead Silence". The second half of the name is where the speculation comes in, but Harlequins Void Dancer Troupe is one of the teams that will be phasing out soon and they could use something new. In Rogue Trader they had a second unit called Mimes. Mimes don't speak. Dead (Deathwatch) Silence (Mimes).
>>96019482The pirat hat could be orks but seeing how fresh wreckas till are, unlikely that it is meant for KT at least. Then there are pretty neutral hats that could be nearly enything human/inquisition or so. But yea what you say is the most likely outcome.
>>96019262I'm still working on these Banshees, but the others are Striking Scorpions, Vespids, and Kommandos. Eldar are more fun to paint than human covered in a thousand belts and straps because at least they look like statues or goddesses or some shit.
>>96018570>Please please please no more human teams.???
Neither Deathwatch nor Harlequins are human teams. If you're actually going to argue Space Marines, which are neither really human in lore nor look ANYTHING like the Guardsmen style silhouettes or designs, are "human", you are fucking retarded.
>>96020574Okay, but Space Marines are humans and I'm not retarded.
I guess they could come out with an all-demon team. That might be neat, I don't think they've done so yet.
Maybe chaos worshiping Votan? Maybe a one-off team of Tau Auxilliaries that don't include any humans and a bunch of lesser known races.
>>96018570>>96020574>>96020984You will get deathwatch serfs vs harlequin indentured stagehands and you will be happy
Happy Saturday y'all
Anyone got any games this weekend?
>>96021138Not sure how much of a game I'd call it, but I did face harlequins with my breachers today. I didn't expect to have very good win odds but clearly the dice gods were feeling particularly humorous this time. I think a single ranged shot dealt more than 4 damage this game (his death jester shooting a regular armsman). Even balanced fusion pistols, fully juiced up shotguns, and accuracy-boosted boosted las-volleys just failed to get any damage dice to resolve damage.
Of course, when shooting fails for both sides in a game of breachers vs harlequins, the harlequins win because melee still functions as expected. I got two kills all game, one of which was in melee and the other of which was when the fusion pistol player finally died after being shot 5 times.
Just nothing that could be done really.
>>96019262Also have the worst Xenos team painted up too. They will get finished eventually , but they are just not that great at the datacard to warrant it when I could be painting literally any other team.
>>96019482I think Deathwatch vs Mimes on a Necron ruin killzone is the most likely based off the evidence. Harlequins will have the checkers molded on the model now .
>>95991666So what are they going to be, a "new" kill team or just new options for angels of death?
>>96022336Whole new ass Kill Team with all new rules would be smart. Bonus points if they are more like Death Guard and have zero customization, but as a result, have some fun faction rules and ploys. Kind of nice because now the free GW infernus marine is 1/6 of a whole kill team.
Angels of Death already has too many options and weirdly not enough.
I hope they bring tai crisis suits in eventually. I don't like Tau but the robots look fun to paint
>>96022336Just read, either the article or other comments. But for you: they will be their own for now, maybe later integrated into AoD, like with SFJustian.
>>96022544They will have no options other than chose 6 from 7 guys.
>>96022644No. They are not suited for KT with the current rules and powerscaling.
Anyone ever proxied Voiddancer with deathcult or callidus assassins?
>>96015931Yaegirs vs. Nemesis
in TP 2 the Bladeskyn killed his Ventrilokar with throwing knives.
Next activation the Tracker brought the skinthief to 1hp.
TP 3 nemesis claw hat 1 gunner remaining.
>>96015931Kommandos vs AoD
First activation the sniper boy gets a shot at his heavy gunner.
5 crits and a hit later he was dead.
>>96018686I hated painting my ratling team at one point. The models are as big as a squig, but there are buttons, sausages, apples, ropes, .... on every spot possible.
The backpacks were just annoingly overcrowded with different patterns
>>96024351Same for me. Painting the perpendicular to the clothing side of the belt and straps is basically chaos trim but for humans. Another issue is when they jump from one olive green mix to a lighter or darker olive green mix on the straps on the boxart. If you just stolidly paint them all one shade of olive green, it's not going to look interesting, so you bring in some more colors and if they aren't close enough together, it looks like the Resident Evil 4 merchant rather than a little soldier.
I got my Ratlings to battle ready, but once again, it's a case of not trying the team before I played it and ratlings just aint it for me at the moment, so that's why they are paused like this. The Bulgryn are fun to paint though; those might get the fancy treatment later.
>>96024351yeah, same
I'm literally painting my ratlings right now and initially I had a very different scheme and paintjob in mind but once I tried it on the minis I said fuck this and went for a lazy and fast zenithal contrastslop
Which is kind of a shame because I really like the "vibe" of the team and had quite a bit of cool (imo) ways to paint them in my mind but they ended up being one of my laziest painted teams
Maybe one day I will revisit them and give the paintjob some proper effort but not today
>>95975292 (OP)That's a cool model.

Can you be in cover and obscured at the same time?
Like if you have an engage order on your unit behind cover, their unit can see a piece of your unit through a window or whatever, do they get a free cover save and also the attacker has to discard an attack dice?
Or is it just one or the other
>>96033758You can be in cover and obscured at the same time but not from the same terrain, it would need two different terrains. the errata states "An operative cannot be in cover from and obscured by the
same terrain feature. If it would be, the defender must select
one of them (cover or obscured) for that sequence when their
operative is selected as the valid target."
>>96033900Gotcha
thank you anon
Haven't played in a while but heard that there was some major balance changes? My latest teams were Aquilons (plasma, melta and sharpshooter, no turret), and Word Bearers-styled Legionaries.
>>96035908Legionary got some nerfs a while back but are still very strong
Aquilons got some buffs
>>96035908Aquilons got an extra guy and you can take both gunners and the marksman together now
>>96017473In this hat video, they mentioned "power armour guys with bolters". I'm afraid, that Deathwatch may be just a bunch of standard intercessors with bolters and silver pauldron. Like we're not getting full of options and flavour analogue to the old deathwatch kill team box, with all the swords, combi-weapons, shield, mace, xenophase, great thunderhammer, frag cannon, etc...
Also, this theory is supported by the fact that the Kil Team designers hate options, the possibility of different loadouts, flexibility and unpredictability. Most likely, yes, it will be just a squad of 5-6 intercessors with bolters and 1-2 of them will have a melee weapon.
>>96038578>In this hat video, they mentioned "power armour guys with boltersDo we know that they were referring to Kill Team? Because Space Mariners in 40k are getting a bunch of supplements in the next preview.
>>96038657Space Marines in 40k will also get their announcements, yeah. But it will be all characters for chapters without their own codex. None of them just wears bolter.
So yeah, most likely it's for Deathwatch.
>>96038672You underestimate GW ability to make up new Space Marine units and put them out at random
>Behold our new gunslingeretor
>>96038693Okay, you may be right here
>>96038578It would be a shame (just like how nemesis claw could've been raptors with an upgrade sprue or something instead of legionaries 2) but that said
Describing a space marine unit as "power armour guys with bolters" is not nearly confirmation that they're just doing an intercessor squad with the upgrade sprue
I could describe the old DW kit that way because primarily they are wielding bolters
But at the same time, that's also copium because I want to use my cool deathwatch models for something appropriate at last

Has someone tried the Raveners? How they are?
>>96040358Only in a joint ops mission and for that they can be pretty hilarious (in good and bad ways) as far as i can tell there is no rule preventing you from just burrowing all and staying underground for a few turns what completly breaks the ai system, protects your dudes and lets you pop out and do whatever objective you need to do once your tunnel reaches it or just burrow and heal for a few turns or just kill anytghing slowly that is near your tunnel with toxic lunge. if yo have no round limit this team can be bonkers. Can also die horribly because of low armour and many opponents and constant melee battles and being big and getting shot at especially if you have objectives fahr apart from each other you only get tunnel upport for one (that and being slow with the tunnels seem to be the main weakneses of the team in normal games as well).
