I am quite possibly the slowest painter known to man, considering some of the models I put together in the last batch predated 2.0 coming out, so by the time HH 14.0 is released, I should have enough models for a normal sized game.

A plastic, non-Terminator Praetor that's probably much easier to work with. The dedicated resin models might be a pain in the ass in many ways while not matching the scale of newer models, and the generic plastic Praetor kits are overdone. All IF iconography is easily replaceable, something like the BT Castellan requires you to hack off parts from his built-in pauldron pieces and swap out the backpack anyway.

Not in release order, but in chronological order:
Although the publishing of the Siege books have corresponded with the order of the events, the previous Heresy books have not. For example, the book Slaves to Darkness takes place after Beta-Gammon, yet Titandeath was published later.
There's also the matter of what books to include besides the Siege ones, to give essential context to the Siege per se.

That wasn't all they did, they came with a slew of special rules and limitations to balance and make them more thematic.. RoWs weren't
>your assault marines are now counted as your basic troops
but rather
>this is a detachment of troops dropping from low orbit and aircraft into the battlefield and as such half or more of your troops must deep strike but the sheer weight of bodies means the first round of shooting is going to be snap shots and in the second round you get to do hit and run attacks. No non-deep strike/flyer-carried units or immobile ones and you must use assault squads as compulsory troops.

I feel an overwhelming sense of helplessness as an upcoming solar auxilia player, but then perhaps that truly is what it means to be a man in an age of darkness. I feel I should despair but I can’t help but laugh at the absurdity of Dark Angels getting to fight twice in my own turn when my rifleman are very unlikely to survive even one round of combat with them. 4 turns means I’ll be lucky to even touch an objective marker anyway even with mechanised transport, and that’s assuming Raven Guard or Alpha Legion likely haven’t just spawned in on top of said objectives from the get go anyway. Is this how it feels to be crestfallen? Maybe I’m just being dramatic

I don't like 3.0s 40kification of killing models out of LoS /Range or Herohammer and how it's simplified the legions so much, but at the same time it appears to reign in the extremes that requires so much self policing in 2.0. On the surface 2.0 looks like it only needs a light balance patch, but that's only for basic Legion fights. Then you realize the entire way it does Deep Strike and Flyers is completely fucked, non Marine factions are completely fucked, a bunch of shit is just boring, and if you're doing shit, might as well sort the USRs in alphabetical order. And then I wonder if it won't be less work for more gain to retype 3.0 into something cool... it might come down to which has better Marine-Auxilia/Mechanicum balance by default.

The RG gambit is betting going first on that one attack landing and wounding, which is not assured at all and if you fail either roll you don't get to make more attacks

The SW trait is in addition to the Surge move, so that's 5" total before the charge roll, 6" for IC.

The RG gambit is high risk, high reward. If it was guaranteed the payoff shouldn't be automatically winning the duel.

>>95987454
>The SW trait is in addition to the Surge move
And the surge move is instead of one of the d6 we had before
It's still just a +2" to charges compare to +4" and shooting snapshots before
>If it was guaranteed the payoff shouldn't be automatically winning the duel.
Even going first is not that big of a guarantee of winning at all like I said above
>The DA reaction is ideal for having your melee unit break free of a tarpit
It's only giving you an extra fight sub-phase once per battle. If you could get rid of a tarpit with that it wasn't a very good tarpit to begin with. It's very situational at beat

Saturnine hammers and fists have D3, Shred will appear on weapons. Master crafted might be +1 to hit, or crits on a certain hits value, which is auto wound with +1 damage. The RG gambit just needs to hit and wound, not kill or do damage, and the then you get the remainder of your attacks. Wounding on 2+ should be easy enough. >Wounding on 2+ should be easy enough
Wounding on 2+ is what makes it a 40% chance, if you wounded on 4s it'd be even worse at 25%

If you fail that 40% chance to wound you don't get to attack any more
You are betting on 40% (at best) odds that you are going first, which doesn't mean you are going to win either way.
