Sequestered in his candlelit study, the high archivist of Elenndale reads the gala briefing with mounting horror as each “quacktacular” pun and exhortation to don “beak-inspired” attire shatter the poise of elven decorum. He decries this “Night of Quacking Delight” as a slap to nobility, rails against rubber ducks and their “fowl play,” and summons the Council of Theme and Ambience to replace this bath-toy farce with anything more befitting Elenndale’s celestial arches or verdant vales.

Not giving a lot of wiggle room with this one, OP, but at least you challenged me to think outside of the box and get creative.

The morning sea lay mirror-still until a colossal rubber duck, guided by a brass-and-sprocket homunculus, heaved itself over the waves. Atop its wobbling back stood a pint-sized gnome with bubblegum-pink tresses.

>Behold! Aquadux Maximus, my trans-oceanic paddle-beast, powered by ætheric calculus and midnight oil! Tell the world the tides belong to Lady Quillwhistle now!

With a triumphant squeaky honk and a spray of saltwater, she bobbed off into the mist, leaving the crewmates of the nearby ship pondering if they had glimpsed madness or marvel.

The stoic initiate sat cross-legged in the hushed adobe chamber, willfully rippling the air with silent psionic currents until—with a final breath—a small yellow rubber duck blinked into being. He opened his eyes, trembling only as he reached out to cradle the childhood keepsake he’d carried from orphanage to orphanage, a single relic of comfort now reborn by the purity of his mind. Monks lining the colonnade exchanged soft smiles, but the grand master alone nodded in solemn approval. The mind, he’d taught, gave form to what it cherished most.

>You watch as she staggers into the bathroom, instinctively tearing away the filthy layers of rags she has been buried in. You catch a whiff of her scent as she passes by you - the smell of deep, fresh-turned earth and the sickly sweetness of decay. Her movements are unsteady as she clumsily lowers herself into the copper tub, causing torrents of steaming bathwater to cascade noisily onto the floorboards. As she settles in, the water rapidly darkens, almost turning black, as layers of gravedirt and decay peel way from her glistening green skin and swirl around he. It’s hard to read the vacant, blank expression on her face but you could swear her lips twinge into a small smile as she notices the rubber ducky bobbing aimlessly in the soiled water.

A few days later Röst approaches the town with two young elven women who were out gathering things from the forest. They were about to be attacked by a dwarf on the road when the beastwomen intervened. According to the women, he looked to be from the same clan as the dwarf captured a while ago.
Röst tells the guards who talk to her the dwarf is still in the forest and can be retrieved if the elves wanted.

Andrenn Sunblaze, despite his strong sense of honor, gave in to intrusive thought. He told Röst he would very much liked the dwarf to be in his custody. Recently his sister has lost her job as a librarian and had her favorite pot broked by a mischievous cat. A new slave, even if it were a short and stupid dwarf, would cheers her up in no time. The beastwomen would never knowed what his intentions were. He smiled a secretly sinister smile and gaved a thumbs-up.

A group of firefighters turned monster hunters

Fire fighters can go anywhere there is a fire, it doesn't matter how many ghouls & lookouts you post. Scientists were dropping various small floaty things (ping-pong balls, yellow rubber ducks etc.) into the river hoping it'll show where does the river resurface but to no avail. Then suddenly one day a geiser with ping-pong balls and yellow rubber ducks erupted and furious Troll appeared on the surface yelling "Will you ever surface-dwellers stop dropping trash on my head???". And it was the end of dropping small floaty things into the river. And scientists requalified and started licking psychedelic frogs. For science.

Dune uses shields. So armor could be completely worthless if the melee weapons can rip through metal as easily as cloth. Hell, even shadowrun has monofilament whips and that's not even space age stuff.
If you want your sci-fi girlies to wear bulky armor, that's completely understandable. It's your aesthetic choice. Some want skimpy fun armor, which is also understandable.
