>>95986732 (OP)I never liked the firbolg until Crit Role fans messed with their looks. Tall, vaguely Irish gingers that hide in the woods arent interesting (especially when youve grown up as one). The Wild Hunt version was better but still kind of bleh. But fey giants with clearly fey looks hits just the right spot. The deer-like ears and noses (people say cow, but none of them look cow-like), on a forest giant just looks and sounds right, especially for ones that are supposed to be guardians and tenders of nature.
Honestly, I've never liked any of the giants to just be particularly tall humans, not even ogres or hill giants. A giant should reflect their nature in their body, such as stone giants looking like Easter Island stone heads, both in proportions and texture, or storm giants having a perpetual mist and lightning play across their skin with exaggerated oni-like monster faces. They absolutely should not look like a normal human made 20 ft tall, unlike so much of European myth where everything is some variety of short or tall human.
Add in some antler headwear and you've got a certified fantasy forest giant druid.
>>95986762As everything goes, its all tribalistic culture warrior nonsense. "This popular lefty gaming group features 5e versions of a race, therefore I will hate them for not using the older versions which I had no idea of before this moment." "Oh my god, now they look like furries with cownoses and one has pink hair like those damned tumblrinas, I must hate this to fit in with my fellow conservatives on 4chan".
Its all so tiresome.
