My favorite part about the OP image is that the obvious AI artifacting on the foot was just replaced by the laziest possible monotone poo-brown blur imaginable. The complete and utter lack of effort, intelligence, or taste is perfect for these posts.

No, it's a hand drawn illustration done with faux oil brushes digitally or real oils and digital touchups. The artist puckee buys from uses low opacity block colors to sketch and touch up, but runs the middle step through an AI, then overlays it onto a 100% ai background with minimal if nay attempts to blend it in.

I like the vibe it gives off, this rainforest.. probably shouldn't think twice about going inside there yet, maybe get one of your friends to join the group as a new player, druid, ranger, someone who can help navigate the threats it would pose. For now, a foreboding forest that kind of mocks the players with its existence.

My setting's jungles have plenty of ruins and tribes fighting over the scraps of their old empire. They used to be a mighty civilisation that based 90% of their tech on magic, and they completely degenerated after losing access to their powers in a magical accident.

One aspect of magic realism always lost upon anglos is some of its relations to the rainforest. It's simultaneously a work of beauty and life but also violent and uncaring of humans, it's this weird barrier keeps everything within it in a time capsule.
I think you could make an Call of Cthulhu type game with it

They are a place of evil where the races of evil plot their destructive machinations, their skin tar black and their hearts a mere shadow.

It is a disease that is contained only by the jungle itself, serving as a containment zone so the other races may flourish in peace from the dark influence.

Pretty basic. Big dinosaurs and lizardmen tribes. The jungle island is the only place on the planet with no natural elf population. Centuries ago a snake tribe began sacrificing dinosaurs and bathing in their blood to gain immortality, then they woke up the spirit of the island which is godzilla who fried them all and encased their immportal bodies in gold. So those snake tribe temples are the old ruins with cool shit in them for players to explore. The lizard tribes guard some of them to make sure the snake people and their evil knowledge never escapes.

Also random groups will show up on the island for refuge, trade, rituals, hunting, research, etc just so I can keep things fresh and not every session feels too samey.

Also there's a big chunk of the island covered in tall trees that is ruled by the Monkey King.
Anonymous No.95997179 [Report]
>>95997155
That sounds based. Is it the main setting or is the island a side place the PCs can explore?

Populated by tribes of renegade demi-humans. They've mostly gone out there to flee from human populations. This has been happening long enough that the tribes vary between classic primitives to something more akin to modern day guerillas.
Because of necromancy, the lack of exorcists, and the sheer impenetrability of the jungle, much of it is also very, very haunted. Many cultural relics of the various jungle tribes are just detritus from the spirit world believed to be more important than they really are. The mass of the jungle is slowly being spiritually poisoned like this, but so is everywhere else.
The main people who go out in the jungle are adventurers, explorers, and criminals. Adventurers are typically out there to loot various tribal artifacts, though some church-sanctioned types focus more on exorcisms. Explorers are trying to find new resources and set up trade deals with any tribes that have something to offer worthy of the trip out there. Criminals go out there to escape the law, and to press-gang tribals as militias and slaves.

Sounds like a darker version of the Mission
Anonymous No.95997297 [Report]
>>95997246
I wouldn't quite say that. The priests venturing out there are mostly exorcists acting for the good of the world, rather than priests looking the save the souls of the locals (the typical cult to go seek converts is de-facto human supremacist, the other[s] typically aren't looking for converts). That's not to say there aren't priests with the balls to try to preach a religion that looks poorly upon the locals, but the scriptural interpretation that argues that demihumans aren't inherently cursed is an uncommon one.

If someone asks where the black people are, I tell them they live in the Green Hell, which is a jungle that sprouted from a pond of healing water and casts down healing rain, causing exponential growth that only stays where it is because sea water is toxic to the plants.

They're also the leading botanists on the planet and have done 1000 years of research on plant and insect growth in under a century

If you check out the profile, you'll see all of his commissions that he has spammed for the past few years.
He usually has 2-3 threads up at all times with low quality questions, even tried passing his commissions on the draw thread as a filled request.

there are two jungles on my world, one resembling the amazon covering about a third of the continent mostly populated by every kind of mythical creature or monster imaginable. think lamia aztecs, feral tengu, basilisks, giant insects with roaming bands of oni barbarians on the edges where the jungle meets the mountains

the second one is way less special and way smaller resembling the indian jungle with monsoons, tigers, elephants and wizards dabbling in yogic enlightenment
