Nothing. They’re just veterans wearing Phobos armor with Reiver Vox amplifiers and weapons. The whole fixed marine loadout thing isn’t real in the fluff, marines check out whatever equipment they think they need from the armory and go to battle equipped as necessary. The Aspect Marine thing is just for gameplay purposes since generalist units suck ass which has historically been the cause for marines being wildly mediocre. The way 40K works, speed and doing your given task before you get ethered is paramount. In the fluff that’s much less the case.

Chapter size limits still haven’t been been lifted my guy. It’s just that there’s so many other problems going on no one cares to enforce it at the moment. It’s always been fine as long as you don’t get caught, and even if you do, it’s a motherfucker to bring together enough beauracratic force to do anything about it. That said marine chapters are probably bigger now, since Primaris daddy goo has lower rejection rates and as always, technically a chapter can have as many scouts as they want to rapidly bring themselves up to strength in the event of losses. The two scout companies aren’t really hard limits. The Exorcists have 4 scout companies because they chew through so many aspirants.

You're mixing two separate points. Just because you merge, say, normal and assault terminator squads doesn't mean you allow for each individual model to choose whatever loadout. You can still enforce an all melee or an all ranged loadout. There's just no need to have separate datasheets when they are 90% identical.

Realized I never posted a game I had a couple weeks ago.

I decided to try out the speed freeks again after they'd been changed to always be able to advance/fallback+shoot+charge, so I hit up the local CSM Chad at the store for a game.
We set up for a regular mission (I played against EC on one of the new irregular deployments and realized speed freeks are not built for being that close to your enemy) and built the terrain to be an Ork scrapyard, as we both owned sets of the octarius terrain.

In an absolutely perfect draw for the speed freeks, we pulled the twist card "High Octane" which allowed every unit on the field to automatically advance 6" instead of rolling a d6. The speed freeks were going to be going extremely fast this game, it seemed.
For turn one, we were both extremely careful trying not to o be obliterated by each other. CSM got the first turn and knowing the speed freeks' threat range he didn't move up very far, just touching one objective for a secondary and staying back to prepare for turn 2.
I did the same (mostly) but got a few shots off and even got a throwaway unit of warbikes to tie up whatever this unit is. They managed to stay alive and stopped that unit from being able to charge on the CSM's second turn, which really hurt his effectiveness.

With the CSM turn done it was finally time for what I'd been waiting for. The Orks called the WAAAGH!! And emerged from their defensive positions for a full-on assault. Thanks to their high octane giving them all an automatic 6" advance I was able to hang back much farther than I would normally to keep my important units safe. My bikes and buggies crashed up the field to get into position for charges and started blasting whatever they could. Thanks to the glory of Ork shooting, most of the work was done in the fight phase. We managed to take down the venomcrawler, that rhino thing in the back, and a forgefiend not pictured. A devastating turn for the CSM but they still had lots of threats to take down the Orks.

Someone's selling off two ridgerunners & 3 acolytes for 50% of GW's price, do I grab them all? Or just one ridgerunner, some acolytes and grab another combat patrol in the future for another ridgerunner and more acolytes and some bikers? There's an Iconward as well.

with the fun of the story being belakor and the alpha legion thinking they're playing each other to do their respective bidding (belakor wants to thwart vashtorr out of envy AND consume as much of malal's domain as he can eventually. the legionnaires want to unleash malal so it wrecks havoc in the pantheon for them to manipulate things AND push the demon prince to bite more than it can chew to get rid of him specifically, since he's been trying to get control over the legion)

The CSM responded in kind by blowing up too many buggies for an Ork to count (4) in their next turn. His demon prince and chaos terminators flew down from deep strike to steal my home objective away, held by nothing but a few weedy grots. Another venomcrawler exposed itself to challenge my breaka Boyz that had dispatched a tank, and managed to destroy the unit.

The Orks were not happy about so many of their scrap heaps turned into heaps of scrap, so my speedboss turned right around to challenge the CSM warlord, a lord discordant. Who doesn't like a mounted battle, after all? An Ork fly boy suddenly remembered he was in the fight and flew down his wazbom blastajet to provide fire support on the battlefield. However, our home objective was gone for sure amongst the terminators. To add insult, my rokkits from the remaining buggies were misfiring into the demon prince, and it was clear the Orks were on the back foot.
On the center objective, my warbikes and speedboss failed to kill the discolord and he proceeded to pose an epic challenge to my speed boss on his chariot. Thanks to the blue paintjob, my speedboss stayed alive with a single wound remaining after the attack. Both warlords were alive but savagely hurt from this encounter.

Definitely the highlight of the game. During each fight you could cut the tension in the air with a knife because alongside it being such a kickass battle we both absolutely needed to control that center objective.

On the next turn, the CSM were torn between too many Ork units that were all equal threats. There was the speedboss about to kill their warlord and take the center objective, there was a foot warboss that had hidden away on another objective, a unit of 6 deffkoptas and 5 stormboyz in the CSM deployment zone (which had been devastating some cultists and a unit of whatever CSM infantry has shoulder-mounted lascannons) and still plenty of buggies firing shots and slowly whittling down the remaining CSM. I'm actually drawing a blank at how it happened (since this was 2 weeks ago my memory has failed me of the details) but through this turn the speedboss survived with his bikes gone, and the lord discordant ended up dead. However, my OC wasn't enough to take the objective from him with just a squigbuggy.
I apologize for the hazy details here. I'm trying my hardest to remember everything that happened.

On round 5, the CSM finally took down the speedboss. He'd dealt too much damage to their forces and they wouldn't stand for it. They took down the squigbuggy and locked themselves down on the center objective, trying with all their might to stop the Orks from scoring primaries.
And they were doing a good job at that. Thanks to some poor primary scoring the Orks were losing and they were losing badly. We had a unit of 5 terminators+termie lord on our home objective and nothing but stormboyz, koptas, a warboss, a single shokkjump dragsta to get into objectives. The warboss had his locked down and the stormboyz were able to take the CSM home objective with their high octane giving them plenty of movement, so it was the start of the turn with a 15 point lead for the CSM and nothing but a shokkjump dragsta and koptas to kill some extremely tough units.
And so, we did everything we could. The shokkjump dragsta, already in position, toed itself onto my home objective and used a stratagem I've never used before, Squig Flingin', to force a battle shock test at -1 on the terminators. The CSM failed, CP rerolled, and failed again. The home objective went to the Orks. The koptas and the blastajet failed to take the center objective, but it wasn't in vein. For with the home objective, all of my other objectives went from +3VP to +5VP and that combined with my secondary scoring for that turn allowed the Kult of Speed to kick the VP into high gear and soar beyond the CSM on our last turn to take the victory. The Kult was victorious on this day

Not sure when my next game will be, but the Kult of Speed is definitely back as a contender for what I'll bring to the table again. The changes they made were really good, being able to fallback, shoot, and charge is no joke. Even for Orks.

He also sells 5 sprues of Neophytes for half the price, I already have 40 but in the long run I think it's worth it. There's also an Aberrant but I already have two units of 5.

I'm collecting GSC and have 2 of the old combat patrol boxes, a broodcoven and 10 genestealers. I play at 1000pts currently but if I'm to play at 2000pts one day then this is the best deal ever. 80 neophytes isn't unheard of to my knowledge so getting 40 more is alright, Ridgerunner is the best unit in the entire roster so at least two is used to give AP-1 to every other unit is amazing, Acolytes can be built as Flamers/Mining Tools and as Metamorphs. Iconward can be added to metamorphs but two is too much, Aberrants kinda cost too many points but are decent at Biosanctic Broodsurge. I'm already grabbing two Ridgerunners, 4x acolytes, and an Iconward and I can use the remaining money on other characters I suppose, but 4x10 neophytes is just too good to ignore.
