I don't mind shortcuts, but hear me out for a minute. For deterministic repeatable game actions and loops if you show me what you're doing the first time and showing me how you can do it again, then my only caveat is when you're done you clarify the exact game state.

So if you have 4 gates untapped and repeatedly untap Sage of the Mazes for mana, then all I want you to do is tell me at the end what colors the 10 mana you made are going to be, unless you're spending it immediately on a colorless cost where it won't matter.

Same thing with loops; technically you don't produce infinite mana; so just specify the end result ("I produce 5 million mana, 1 million of each color" is functionally infinite mana, but actually specifies the gamestate). Once again, if the specifics of outcome doesn't actually matter (like "i produce 1 million mana; Earthquake X=one million.") then it's fine, but where its relevant it should be clarified.

You should ensure there are no responses following the shortcut to prevent having to rewind the gamestate; but otherwise you only have to do it once and then prove you can do it again, then it's fine to just say 'okay I do it X times then'.

Won at commander night, but discovered far too late that two of the players were extremely new. One of them couldn't comprehend stickers and complained about how confusing they were. Things mellowed after the first game, but two of the players were initially quite salted after being repeatedly rammed by an 8/7 Ukkima.

If you're going to float the mana I would want exact numbers. It's not bad luck if you counted wrong, they're your cards and you're playing them. Figure out the mana you need, then loop your dorks. If you don't know what mana you need, you're going to have to guess with the limited information you have.

Pods are fill-and-fire here and no one at the store plays CEDH to farm wins. It's literally an excuse to mix with people you don't know. bonus points for cheap repeatable ones, for instance low cost creatures you can get back from the graveyard.
protection is a bit dicier, usually you have to choose something specific, like Holy Day that cancels all combat damage for the turn (1 mana), ethereal haze does the same thing but "dmg dealt by creatures this turn" so it cancels effects also. there's a lot that gives your creatures indestructible, or target creature hexproof+indestructible.

80% of people at my LGS are fine, but there is one guy (dyes his hair bright colours, you probably know the type) who insists on always wearing tank tops despite being chubby, and in particular a fat troon who looks like a /pol/ charicature (balding and everything) that always have the worst body odours.

I feel really lucky with my lgs, almost everyone who plays is a veteran who picked up the game when deployed, tradies trying to kill time, married dads, and young married couples who like card games. Even the rare few trannys are polite and practice good hygiene. The only stereotypical lgs dweller is hated and regularly bullied in his games.

I built a fun Bilbo birthday deck featuring all the hobbits and cards like second breakfast and shortcut to mushrooms. It usually just makes some food, gets some hobbit tokens then dies. I play it if I win a few games in a row and don't want to keep stomping the table and looking like a try hard. It's still fun but the lack of ability to win or threaten anyone leads to me rarely playing it. It's probably edh backet 1, below the average precon deck. The game is about trying to win, after all.

Caught between building Savra and Maxirek. Both seem pretty decent, but one's an enabler whereas the other is payoff, and both fit in the 99 of each other's decks

This is an auto include in any deck with a commander that makes one or more tokens across the course of a game, or any deck with a treasure generator (any deck not in green, and half the decks in green).

I guess the limiting factor is that the deck might need one or more artifacts and possibly a non-legendary creature in the 99, but I think most decks can handle that restriction.
